My traitorous body! I weighed myself Friday and was 15st 2.5. I started my period today so I'm back up to 15st4. I hate the scales. I'm taking Fridays weight and saying that I had a great boost week and pretending this morning didn't happen.

How did all you other boosters get on? Hope you get some good results today x

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/06/2023 07:10

@effiesgoldwig thats annoying, but quite normal to bloat at totm. I’d definitely take Fridays weight as the official weigh in!

my boost week didn’t go exceptionally well. I did go off the rails a little bit. I’m back on the straight and narrow now so I’m going to do another strict week, at least til Friday. I’ve cooked a big mushroom and bean veggie chilli which I’m having for lunches for the next few days and I’m just going to really go back to basics.

poorpaws · 19/06/2023 07:41

Good morning everyone

So Boost Week has ended and I'm very grateful because I found it difficult. I was soooo good, dog walked and exercised daily, food all good with no cheating.

I hoped to lose 4 lbs which I have always done before on a boost week but the scales say I've lost 3.25 lbs! I know it's still a good amount but I can't help but feel disappointed. I know I couldn't have done any more so I'm happy with myself. The sad thing is it's still not taken me to as low as I've been on this thread before I lost the plot but I am nearer to where I'd like to be I suppose.

Good luck to fellow weighers.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/06/2023 08:19

@poorpaws yes you are being hard on yourself! 3.25lbs is excellent and you should be pleased with your efforts. I know we are all very hard in ourselves, think what you would say to one of us (then say it to yourself)!

poorpaws · 19/06/2023 08:46

@thenewaveragebear1983 thank you. Yes I appreciate that's it's good and I've done well but I just can't help thinking it should have been 4 lbs off. I'll keep trying but I know I can't keep up that level of fitness and no treats for a long time. I keep reminding myself of slowly off, slowly back on because if ever I've lost weight fast it's back gone on again fast too. I've got a few outings planned this week (nothing very exciting) that will include food so I must be extra careful.

I cannot wait to hear everyone's results. I keep checking in here, come on boosters, spill the beans.

poorpaws · 19/06/2023 08:48

@thenewaveragebear1983 your plan for this week sounds really good and I think sometimes we just need to keep off those scales (though I admit I weigh myself far too often).

OP posts:
Zebracat · 19/06/2023 08:54

@poorpaws . Well done you. That is an amazing result. You should be so pleased.
I think I initiated boost week because I’d gained last Monday. I started at 96.5 and I am now 95.9. This is a miracle given that I took comfort eating to a whole new level . I did much less exercise than usual and I didn’t binge exactly, but I ate a lot of chocolate and cheese cake, so I think I did better than I deserved.

I am feeling ok now. Thank you to everyone for your help. I’m going to try hard this week, I have a pre op assessment in 10 days and I want to be under 95 for it. I was hoping to be around 93 but we can’t always get what we want.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 19/06/2023 08:58

@effiesgoldwig I also have a traitorous body! Back up 1lb to 14'2 this morning - dammit.

Oh well, back on it hard this week. I have a party on Friday week and I would like to be under 14st for that, so that's my goal.

Also booked a holiday to Mexico last night for October half term so I want to be 3st down and bikini ready by then 🤣

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 19/06/2023 08:59

@poorpaws 3.25 is brilliant, well done 👏

Theredjellybean · 19/06/2023 13:40

@poorpaws ..bloody brilliant..now try to see it not as boost week ..try to say "well that was a week when I did what I know works and needs to be done"
Then do it again this week..
My body is also treacherous...I ended the same weight I started 71.3
Just bouncing about...another week though...onwards and downwards...

Gigi789 · 19/06/2023 14:40

Afternoon ladies, I’ve not been very good for boost week so no surprise I’ve only maintained at 14 st. Well done to all those who were good and have lost - onwards and upwards to those of us who didn’t 🙃

poorpaws · 19/06/2023 15:33

Sadly boost week didn't get the results some of us wanted. It's the only time I seem to really concentrate and lose weight but I am very rigid and super good that week and I can't maintain that standard long term.

Sorry to the non-losers. Perhaps we should have another boost week in a few weeks and have a really concerted group effort? I find it incredibly difficult but I don't cheat and I turn down all food related invitations during that week. We'll all have to just keep on doing what we can. My goodness I'd love to have a summer at my goal weight one year, that would be awesome, sadly it won't be this summer.

effiesgoldwig · 19/06/2023 19:12

It sounds like you get the boost week crown this week @poorpaws well done! Mine was all going so well until Aunt Flo arrived and ruined everything. I'm sure by the end of the week I make it back to what I'm supposed to be and this was all a dream!

I'm so close to being under 15 stone I know I can do there. I've been pretty well focussed this month and this is the longest sustained weight loss Ive managed in a very long time. My app was predicting I'll hit my goal of 11 stone by may 2024 the other day which is the first time it's been under 12 months. I was even figuring out how much I'd bed to weigh to have even lower bmi than 24.9 the other day.

We can do this.

effiesgoldwig · 19/06/2023 19:13

Omg the typos in that post! I'm sorry.

It's been a long day clearly I need to get some sleep.

Vebrithien · 21/06/2023 06:58

91.8kg this morning.

Only 400g loss this week, but it feels significant.

I am now just overweight.

Just over 8kg down since the end of April.

1 inch off of my hips and waist, since I last measured about a month ago.

4kg to go until my next target (88kg). I have until the middle of August until my holiday, and I hope that would be achievable.

I can now run (jog) for 25 mins, thanks to Couch 2 5k. Only have 2 weeks of that left.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/06/2023 07:29

@Vebrithien well done, what an achievement!

I’m having an ok week so far, I managed 1450 cals on Monday and around 1600 yesterday, and I’ve not been snacking/mindlessly eating. It shows how much I can probably eat if I do eat mindlessly because my lunches/dinners I have actively reduced in both size and calories, and I would unthinkingly eat a few bits here and there, so I must have been exceeding my calories and possibly by quite a lot. It’s always very eye opening when I track calories properly.

today I went to the gym at 6, for a cardio core class. I feel quite tired. I will have my new favourite breakfast of chia, yoghurt and fruit. Lunch is to be chicken and salad, and dinner is yet to be decided. I don’t feel like weighing myself which is unusual for me but I think because I am feeling quite bloated (from heat, plus also from increasing fibre) plus I haven’t run yet this week, I’m not exactly expecting a significant loss so it’s not really worth it. I could potentially have had a gain.

I turn 40 in 4 weeks today and I, despite committing to have a few really strict weeks, don’t think I’ve actually lost anything bar a couple of water pounds! It’s very depressing how hard I have to diet just to maintain and I am really starting to believe that I just cannot actually lose the weight I want to without some serious calorie restriction and/or increase in exercise (which I don’t see how I could actually achieve due to time and risk of injury- eg i know my limits, if i suddenly start running loads, my hip will just get bad and I’ll be out of action)

sorry, I just read this back and realised what a misery guts I sound!

poorpaws · 21/06/2023 08:06

Good morning everyone

@Vebrithien 👏 so well done to you. You are doing amazingly well and I'm sure you are feeling amazing too. Keep up your good work.

@thenewaveragebear1983. You are not sounding miserable at all. This is a difficult "journey", bloody hell I hate that saying, but really it is. You are sticking with us and we'll all get there with a few hiccups along the way.

I seem to be back in the zone after boost week (thanks to @Zebracat). I've been messing around yo-yoing with my weight for months and not much caring about sensible eating and then caring too much and getting upset. Boost week has seemed to change all that and for the moment I am in the zone and not snacking. I have always eaten very healthily but the chocolate, cake etc in the evening has been my downfall and a habit hard to break. Now I have rules, a small bowl of Shreddies with a lot of skimmed milk is allowed for supper as a treat, nothing else. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights I allow myself a granola bar but just one because in the past it was at least two, followed by chocolate and crisps.

I've no idea how long my new rules will last but I am trying so hard now.

Have a lovely sunny Wednesday everyone. Im food shopping in an hours time for mainly fruit, salad etc and no treats.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/06/2023 18:35

I had a really crappy boring day today, it was just one of those days where time just stood still and dragged on and on…
As a result I’d eaten all my calorie allowance and a bit extra by about 4pm 🤦‍♀️ I did resist any sugary rubbish though, but I made myself a cheese roll in the end because I was just frazzled and exhausted and time had stood still. I logged off at 5pm and I went for a 5km walk with a podcast on but I still feel desperately tired and basically have no calories left for dinner. I’m not actually hungry, the kids had tea out so I’m just going to close the kitchen until tomorrow.

I’m ovulating and it does give me like a mini pmt, but the last few days I’ve been noticeably down, and feel incredibly bloated.

effiesgoldwig · 21/06/2023 19:15

Wow @Vebrithien that's very impressive well done you!

@thenewaveragebear1983 not a misery guys at all! Moan away. I'm only happy when I've got something to moan about. My friends jokingly say it's my favourite hobby 😂

Well done for getting back on track @Zebracat - that's what makes the difference. We will have days or weeks that go wrong every so often. And that's fine as long as we keep picking ourselves back up and starting again. In the long run we will get there.

Zebracat · 21/06/2023 19:38

Wow @Vebrithien . You have done so well. It really helps me to see that we can meet our goals.. And I’m not jealous, not at all, not even a little bit!
@poorpaws wow to you too, to have cracked the evening snacking issue is massive.
@thenewaveragebear1983 This is exactly the right place to come when losing weight seems really hard. But also, I think that when you brave the scales you will be pleasantly surprised. I just wonder if actually you need to eat a little bit more? Women's weight fluctuates with our cycle some of it is outside our control, and we need to go with the flo . Boom boom.
I am back on track, having a good week. Think I may have found my new dog.

poorpaws · 21/06/2023 20:37

@Zebracat New dog, new dog!!!!!!!? I want to know everything.

Tiredanddistracted · 21/06/2023 21:09

@Zebracat I'm so sorry. He ended his life knowing nothing but love. Remember that. You did the right thing xx

Zebracat · 21/06/2023 22:01

We are hoping to collect at the weekend. I darent jinx it! But such a good dog.😍

Zebracat · 21/06/2023 22:04

@Tiredanddistracted thanks, I know. We adored Our old boy and did everything right for him. And we will adore our new dog.

poorpaws · 22/06/2023 08:00

@Zebracat when you've got him/her, I need to know everything plus photo! He's a very lucky dog coming to you, I'm so excited for you.

The weeks eating and exercising is going well but the scales aren't moving. Today is my first treat in ages, a bacon sandwich, salad garnish and tortilla chips plus coffee at the cafe on the way back from the dog walk. To me it's eating out in style 😁 (I'm pretending it's a posh London restaurant). It's really good though, I've never eaten such lovely bacon. We go once a week but missed on boost week and the previous week it was closed, so this is my big weekly treat (very sad I know).

How are you all doing post boost week? Have a lovely Thursday everyone, it's roasting hot here already.
