Just weighed (sneaky, as it isn't my usual day) and I am now just overweight!

Just dipped below 92kg.

Came at a good time, going camping with a BBQ tonight, so gives me the boost to now eat everything in sight.

Zebracat · 16/06/2023 08:26

@Vebrithien , wow, just wow, you are doing so well. Enjoy camping.

Vebrithien · 16/06/2023 09:38

Arrrgh!
To NOT eat everything in sight 😂

TalkToTheHand123 · 16/06/2023 09:41

Sorry to hear about your dog @Zebracat

Well done @Vebrithien , I'm currently at 93kg, but after reading an article about processed food, even though it's not new info, something has just clicked and put me off it (touch wood), so hopefully I can start losing again.

Had a salad buffet at the local supermarket yesterday, was delicious but has given me an upset tummy, not sure of calorie content but hoping it will help me to lose also by avoiding this in future, as it's put me off a bit.

Theredjellybean · 16/06/2023 10:18

@Zebracat ,I'm so sorry about your ddog.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 16/06/2023 11:08

@Zebracat so sorry about your beautiful boy

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 16/06/2023 11:15

Had a sneaky weigh in this morning as I felt lighter when I woke up - hard to describe but my tummy felt a bit flatter 😆

And I'm glad I did because I'm now 14'1, so a loss of 6lb so far over 2 weeks.

That motivated me to spend 20mins on the treadmill before getting ready for work, in fact 7am is a better time to do it as it's not so hot.

@Vebrithien well done to you 👏

Tonight is pizza night so I will try and avoid lunch. Don't suppose Tesco sell any low cal pizzas?

PinkArt · 16/06/2023 15:54

No change this week, 17'9" again. I've definitely shifted into berries and salad mode with the hot weather, which is helpful, although I'm worried tomatoes might be becoming an IBS trigger which would be a nightmare addition to the list. Planning on reporting a loss next week.

effiesgoldwig · 16/06/2023 17:23

Had a relatively good day food wise so far.

Kids are keeping me busy and off my food. Didn't have time for breakfast. Had lunch. Picked up dd from nursery who welcomed me with "we were just about to ring you" as she'd just vomited. I'm in for a fun 24 hours. Its excellent for weight loss though.

poorpaws · 17/06/2023 07:46

Good morning lovelies.

@Zebracat How are you? For the last two mornings you are the first thing I thought of as I opened my eyes. I hope you are coping. You might find this a bit OTT but when I lose anyone I think of it:

You can cry because he has gone
Or smile because he has lived
He'd want you to smile.

I'm doing well food and exercise wise but the fat is still sticking to me.

Only two boost days left (thank goodness) so final push everyone.

Hi everyone, boost week hasn’t been especially successful for me, I have probably had at least something every day that isn’t really on plan, and wine Thursday and Friday. I weighed in this morning and have stayed the same, which is something of a miracle. I think it’s the hot weather, it puts me straight into holiday mode and whilst I do love it, I’m glad of a few days respite.

we have our ds’s football awards today from 3pm, both dh and I have said we’ll drive as it’s an easy way to refuse drinking, so not sure which one of us will win that battle 😂 we have another really busy weekend planned, getting jobs finished round the house and getting ready for the week ahead as last weekend disappeared in a haze of decorating and 28* heat. I’m going to try for a long run tomorrow morning as well, another good reason to lay off the wine today.

I just had a really delicious breakfast- fat free green yoghurt with a tbsp chia seeds soaked in it, with raspberries and strawberries on the top and a spoonful of peanut butter. Very filling. i’m determined to get my head back in the game and follow through with boost week and beyond. lunch today will be salad, and dinner I think we have chicken and again, a big salad. My meals are usually pretty spot on, it’s the extras- so the big rule for me today is NO SNACKS.

Zebracat · 17/06/2023 15:40

Thank you @Poorpaws. We are all really sad.I am eating sweet stuff all the time, so boost week has not gone well. Kept looking at rescues, wanting to see if I would be able to find another poodle when the time came. Just displacement really. Of course I have found a poodle who looks like a small sad version of my dog. I know it’s too soon, but I I have such a strong sense that applying for him is the right thing to do. My family think I’ve gone mad. Grief is a kind of madness isn’t it?. My Mum gave away the family dog when my stepfather died. It made no sense at all, she loved that dog, we all did.. and that was a poodle too. I think I feel that I can cope with missing my dog as long as I still have a poodle. I would never let a dog down, so if he did come here he would be very well loved. Sorry this is so off topic.

We lost our dog suddenly 2 weeks before last Xmas, he was DHs dog and oh gosh it was so heartbreaking. DH was beside himself.

We had the conversation on Xmas eve about whether it was too soon to get another, tbh I pushed it more because I knew how much DH needed a dog to love.

We got our new dog just after Christmas and he is bonkers and wonderful.

I say follow your heart and go get that dog! 🐶

poorpaws · 17/06/2023 16:10

@Zebracat I so understand you. I got another dog the day after my cavalier died, a cavalier puppy and people thought I was crazy but that puppy had a great life with me until she died aged 12. I've always had multiple dogs because I can't be without them, often litter sisters and when they get to age 10 or so, I have two puppies because one puppy would annoy the older dogs. I've had 16 dogs altogether, just 2 growing up and all the rest as an adult. I've never lived without a dog (or 2, 3 or 4).

I'd go for it most definitely (I am a bit crazy when it comes to dogs) but you do what is right for you. (I've had a poodle in the past, a white miniature though).

@MrJollyLivesNextDoor Ha cross post but same sentiment, I think @Zebracat would regret not getting another one but shush don't tell her. We don't replace a previous dog because they all have different personalities but I think it helps the grieving process to have to concentrate on a new one.

Zebracat · 17/06/2023 17:16

Thank you both so much. I thought I was going crazy. We have a little beagle who had an awful life before he came here. He has crippling separation anxiety and relied heavily on the others, he would like another dog, I know. We have lost 2 dogs and a cat in 6 months and it really hurts. A new dog to get to know and nurture would help me. I’ve left the rescue a message. Commonly , people say it’s too soon, or that they can’t cope with loss again, but that’s not me.

poorpaws · 17/06/2023 18:07

No it's not me either @Zebracat. Strangely enough the cavalier I mentioned earlier was the third animal I lost in under 3 months. Her sister died first, then her and then my cat. I thought I would go mad with grief.

Theredjellybean · 17/06/2023 21:56

@Zebracat ..I was thinking of asking you had you thought about a new dog...I'm like poorpaws and overlap mine (also cavaliers) currently have two plus one other rare breed...would be outing to say...three is a busy pack but oh I love them so much.
Took ddog 1...to visit dsd in hospital today...it was lovely.
My boost week hasn't gone great...but think will end about the same... randomly wafting between 70.8 and 71.9 kgs...

Zebracat · 18/06/2023 07:40

Crikey. I’m amazed, I am not alone, knee deep in rescue sites now. I have seen some puppies for sale that combine two of my favourite breeds, but we’ve always adopted, never shopped so I don’t think I could, although the pups in question are clearly from a very good situation. Sorry no more derails, I can imagine loads of you thinking, take it to another board , ladies!

poorpaws · 18/06/2023 07:47

@Theredjellybean I've got three dogs now too. Had 10 cavaliers, they were my breed but as I've got older my dogs have got bigger so now I've got 2 border collie x whippets and one rescue greyhound. I love having my pack, everyone knows me by the dogs, they are always by my side.

@Zebracat I hope you are ok today, I'm thinking about you constantly cos I know how hard it is.

One day left of Boost Week and thank goodness for that. I've found it really hard but I've done very well and I can't wait for it to end. I've got very little energy today which I think is due to a lot less food and not sleeping well.

So last day push on Boost Week everyone, it's surprising what you can claw back in a day.

Sorry for derail too everyone. Start me off on dogs and I can't stop. Back to boring boost week.

poorpaws · 18/06/2023 07:55

But before we go to boost week
And I deliberately chose photos with a lot of greenery and less dogs for non-dog people.

Trigger warning. More dogs!
I love love love collie lurchers, all hounds really. Ive had 2 greyhounds and adored them apart from the injuries. One managed to rip a huge chunk of skin off by brushing against the coffee table!. I’ve always had cats too, but worry another lurcher or hound might eat the cat. I love big and medium poodles and crosses, and beagles . Not keen on bull breeds, although I know it’s not their fault and that most are lovely. Currently have a short list of about 20 dogs. Made enquiries about 3. I’m 63, rescues say they take age into account. Am I too old?

Theredjellybean · 18/06/2023 14:37

63 is nothing for dog owners...

poorpaws · 18/06/2023 15:22

@Zebracat our nearest rescue are very fussy about the owners age, I know dozens of people (no exaggeration) who have been turned down and I wonder how they actually re-home any dogs. All the older owners I know walk their dogs regularly which is apparently the rescues main concern.

However the Greyhound Trust couldn't care less how old you are and the lady who runs our most local one and the lady at the North Devon one are both well into the 60s and have both been rescuing hounds for over 45 years. They had no idea of my age when I rang, it didn't seem a concern.

It must depend on the actual rescue I suppose but you are definitely not too old. Our Greyhound Trust test for cat compatibility on some hounds but they do go quickly.

Mine were tested with small furries as we know all the professional dog walkers and meet up with them regularly and some have very small dogs so we had to be sure. She isn't interested in small dogs, birds, etc she's too busy walking and sniffing so no issues at all and as you can see we walk off lead and we pass three wildlife lakes on our daily walks.

I am secretly hoping you consider a gentle soft greyhound.
