sneaking in to tell you something I am keeping a RL secret

I have started a diet and exercise plan today

I can't tell anyone in RL as I have said it too often before and no one will care.

but

last night I had no carbs with my dinner and had a pint of water instead of a glass of wine.

this morning I had no sugar in my coffee (yuk) and had 2 sticks of celery for breakfast.

I did 1 hour exercise on the wii at lunchtime before having a bowl of soup

have just had evening meal of onion, yellow pepper, courgette, prawns and a little spaghetti with another pint of water.

just hoping to keep it up- think it will be easier if it is a little secret I have.

Well done and good luck Greyskull
Highly recommend the 30 day shred exercise DVD. Much better than the wii and only 20 mins of sweat inducing exercise!

ivykaty44 · 29/06/2010 18:40

on - your eating habits are seeming a little strange and odd - sorry ut this is not the weigh to get in shape.

if you really want to get in shape and get fit with some type of trianing - then eat a sensible diet, a good breakfast eggs fish or porridge and a couple of snacks mid morning and mid afternoon such as an apple or banan and then soup and a roll is fine - but supper needs to be a sensible dish..

otherwise you will jsut do strange things to your body and your body will say f*ck you then I will do sumat differnet..

YarninMonkey · 29/06/2010 18:58

Like Ivy said, you seem to be eating too little, it is not sustainable. Eat more but just as healthy, add a little protein to every meal to keep you full, and the best bit of advice I was given....try not to think about losing weight too much as thinking hampers action...just do it. Good luck!! look forward to reading about your progress.

MadameCastafiore · 29/06/2010 19:00

Swap your celery for 2 weetabox or shredded wheat and the Wii for the Shred and you will see results - you cannot sustain that mush exercise on so little food - you will gove up it is better to eat properly and lose weight slowly than cutting out carbs as as soon as you start eating them again you will gain.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 29/06/2010 19:15

thanks ladies,

tryingnot to cut out carbs completely but am a complete carb monster, celery isn't going to be a standard addition to breakfast, just really fancied it when I was going in the fridge to get some eggs.

tomorrows plan is poached eggs on small slice of toast for breakfast
more soup for lunch otherwise I want to eat bread with everything.
I have some apples which I am going to slice to have in the fridge for snacks.
then dinner tomorrow is chicken thighs roasted with beans mini sweet corns and a small portion of rice.

what is this shred DVD of which you speak?

ivykaty44 · 29/06/2010 19:15

well your body will do the wii fit - but it will use up your muscel rather than any fat - and there in lies your problem - as the more muscle you have the more calories you burn - so if you lose muscel as you are not eating enough and on top doing the wii fit - your body will get a higher % fat, thus making it more difficult to lose any fat and thus you will get bigger.

Please please eat a sensible diet and go swimming and walking and even get on a bike and eat after you have doen those things and over a year or two you will lose fat from around your body.

SandyBits · 29/06/2010 19:16

Have you actually read anything about low carb?
Because your menu for tomorrow is loaded with them.
I can really recommend India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet if you want to low carb. Was a blinding success when I did it.

CoupleofKooks · 29/06/2010 19:19

please eat some protein and don't miss meals to eat celery

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 29/06/2010 19:28

are chicken, eggs and beans not protein?

Ivy, (genuine question not being arsey) what is wrong with my plan for tomorrow?

OP posts:
SandyBits · 29/06/2010 19:31

toast- carbs
apples- carbs
beans, rice and corn- carbs.
Have you tried slimming world or another type of plan liek that that would allow you to pretty much eat what you want? I think the misunderstanding of low carb is where a lot of people go wrong and actually put weight on.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 29/06/2010 19:37

not a misunderstanding Sandy, I have tried atkins before and am not intending to cut out carbs,
am significantly reducing the carbs that I usually eat (lots of bread potatos and pasta)

I don't want to be restricted by any particular plan, what I am hoping to do is by generally cutting down on the carbs and over time getting used to eating things that are better for me that my preference will be less carbs and more balance.

FWIW I am talking about 1 thin slice of wholegrain toast to 2 poached eggs (balance being more egg than bread)

good luck greyskull, I did something v similaar about a year ago, just cut back on refined carbs, snacks and alcohol, didn't really shout about it and lost 2 stone quite easily, I have kept it off too, as it has been a change in habits for me

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 29/06/2010 19:44

ooooooh thanks Ducky, that is how much I need to loose.
I was beginning to think I was going wrong

ivykaty44 · 29/06/2010 20:01

x psots - so didn't see your post

Yes chicken eggs and beans protien.

Do you like kippers? I buy 3 kippera nd cut them in half and have one in the oven cooking and do mushrooms in the fry pan gently - with the garlic butter they give you with the frish fish and then poach an egg when the keetle has boiled for my coffee - I make the packed lunch at the same time.!

That way I get protien heavy breakfast which keeps me going till lunch time - but I don't have it every mornign, if I am cyclign I have museli as I need the carbs, but I have museli with three cut fruit kiwi, banana and strawberries milk - so a little protien

Lunch is olives and carrot sticks then a marmite sandwhich and a bowl or fruit and an apple - keeps me eating for a while and my brain kicks in that its full works

tea can be anything home made.

i stopped buying even jars of sauce and drppe 4 ibls without even wanting to - i am carefull what I eat but have discovered nesquick is the food of the devil but about my only vice.

If you want choc then eat the real stuff - green and balcks etc - don't touch the biccy style stuff like twix or kitkat etc

Tortoise · 29/06/2010 20:07

30 day shred
There is also a thread running on MN with us shreddies on it!

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 29/06/2010 20:07

thanks IVY,
will be tweaking things all the time as I go along I think.

It is a big change for me to get my head round not aurtomatically having a bagel.crumpet.waffles.loads of toast for breakfast!

4lbs is great. do you have much to loose?

OP posts:
ivykaty44 · 29/06/2010 20:13

No - I didn't nee to lose any! I am around 9 and a half and 5f8 now - i eat proper food and gyma dn cycle a fair bit. I want to put food in that is tasty and good for me and think about what it si doing.

This is why when I see you post wna tyou to to be fit and healthy and stay that way - cos it is much better to eat for life than ever diet.

my skin is great, my lungs are good and my periods are fab usually two days and then thats eit - and it is the diet, i am really regualr aswell and that make s whole lot so differnce.

Do try to walk - it is underated excellent way of getting fit and using up extra fat stores - go for an even walk for 30 minutes every other day

CoupleofKooks · 29/06/2010 20:42

re: protein, sorry, i only saw your first post
