HI. I'm new to this topic but have decided that I definately want to lose weight to feel better about myself - am recovering from pnd and am sure my feelings about my weight don't help. Anyway, want to lose about 2 stone ish - maybe more - and will prob use SW principles as that's what I know. Anyone want to join me in charting progress and sharing successes/struggles? I don't want to shell out for weekly meetings but need the support and mortivation of people sharing the journey with me.

Hi everyone, I have lost six pounds now , so am feeling confident I can do this! How are you all doing this week.

Scattercushion .. Glad to hear your holiday was good! We are going to Playa de Muro , its near the mountain region I think. We are hiring a car so hopefully we will get around a bit.Is there anything you'd recommend we must do ? My children are both teenagers so I know the water parks will go down well.

tibni · 09/06/2010 15:35

Hi kingprawntikka, congratulations on the weight loss.

I have my focus back and am much more motivated. I have been to the gym 3 times since Sunday and am eating well. I am taking the time out to think about me ..... downside is with extra shifts at work and gym the house is suffering a bit but I refuse to stress.

kingprawntikka · 10/06/2010 08:25

Hi Tibni, three visits to the gym since Sunday... wow!!! you are doing well this week.
Don't worry about the housework... it will get done in the end.

scattercushion · 11/06/2010 09:24

KPT - definitely recommend going to Soller from Palma or Bunyola on the beautiful wooden train up through the mountains. You can then take a tram down to the beach which is good. It makes a good day out.

Beaches at Playa Major - lovely beach cafe at Illetes.

Palma old town for tapas.

Have a fab time. Sorry bit hectic here so must dash.

ohsomuchtodo · 11/06/2010 21:23

Hi all,

Sorry I've been quiet for a while - went back to work this week and found it really hard... BUT have taken steps towards healthiness and happiness (recovering from pnd) and started going to SW again and going to a fitness class with two work colleagues -to keep me motivated.

I'm really hoping to stay motivated and know that if I can make it work this week I will be able to carry on - I need a boost quickly so that I don't lose sight of my goal.
Glad everyone is sounding so positive - will try to get on here as often as poss - would be great if we could keep each other posted on our progess. It also helps with a bit of perspective if things aren't going so well. Have a great weekend

Well I have had a good week. Total loss now 6lb. Managed to fit 4 gym visits in and have been ok with my food overall.

ohsomuchtodo - I only work part time and I find it tough. The work is ok its when I get home and have housework that needs doing, a dog to walk etc, etc that I tend to put myself last in the list.

Ispy · 13/06/2010 20:06

My total lost is 5.4lbs and I'm into my fifth week of WW. My loss is slow and I've a total of 20lbs to lose. What's working for me is tracking everything and recording what I eat. Have had a tough weekend with my kids as DH has been away and I'm knackered!

scattercushion · 14/06/2010 07:53

I've lost 9lb so far - I think! Weighed myself at a children's party (it wasn't part of the games) and have put on a pound since last week, but maybe the scales are wrong? Are digital scales ever wrong? Tell me they are.

Had a blowout meal on Saturday night then went for a run yesterday - 25mins. So maybe they cancelled each other out?

Had quite a slump at the weekend, moodwise and wondered about PND, what made you decide you had it, ohsomuch?

kingprawntikka · 14/06/2010 10:18

Well done everyone who has lost weight, Its really encouraging when you see the numbers on the scales getting smaller!!

I had been losing steadily this week and was at the half stone loss point but seem to have but on two pounds since Saturday! Weekends are my days to have dessert and a glass of wine, but I am surprised to have put weight on ? I am holding on to the hope that it is because my period is due.

Scattercushion , thanks for the holiday tips ... the wooden mountain train sounds especially nice!

ohsomuchtodo · 15/06/2010 19:35

Hi again everyone. I'm feeling good about all this still - eating pretty well and going to fitness class tomorrow (bought trainers and trackies today as didn't own any!!).

In terms of pnd, Scatter, it was a combination of different circumstances - little un in hospital over Christmas, husband setting up own business, house sale falling through yadda yadda and I lost my confidence. Felt physically rubbish so went to gp who was fab. Initially she thought I was just worn out but she saw me week after and realised it was more than that. Am on ADs and feel so much better but have finally faced up to the fact that being overweight doesn't help, especially as I carry it well so don't look particularly big to the untrained eye! Lol...

I'll be able to tell you how much I've lost on Thurs eve - am hoping for 3lbs as have really tried!

Stay motivated xx

Thanks for the info, Ohso - I'm so up and down at the moment but am currently enjoying an up so don't know if it's proper pnd.

Possible wedding outfits, Ohso?

My tip: have smaller portions than your dh -especially if he's a 6ft4in sporty type - and get him to serve you smaller portions too if he cooks. My dh normally loads up both our plates until they look like the mound from Close Encounters and I am gradually getting him to cut mine down a little (just a little, mind).

ohsomuchtodo · 15/06/2010 21:07

Thanks for the link, Scatter - there are some beautiful dresses on there. Some really worth considering .I still can't find the one I loved from Monsoon but will keep looking.

I didn't have any 'ups' with pnd - it was just downs. Have you been to see your gp? How long have you been feeling like it?

What complicates weight loss in my household is that dh is trying to put it on! He needs to gain a stone... makes it tricky but I'm sticking to my guns so far! Where abouts in the country are you?

What do you think of this dress? www.monsoon.co.uk/Maxi-Dresses/Annabelle-Maxi-Dress/invt/65224422&bklist=icat,5,shop,women,br idal, bridesmaiddresses (not IT-literate enough to insert a link - sorry!!)

ohsomuchtodo - my dh is really slim too. Eats so much but struggles to get over 11st.
Enjoy your fitness class tomorrow.

scattercushion - great tip about portion control. I think we serve food from habit rather from what we really need.

kingprawntikka · 16/06/2010 07:44

I think it's a lovely dress Ohsomuchtodo, especially as you are tall, you will look stunning in a maxi dress.

tibni · 16/06/2010 15:33

That is a lovely dress - really special.

scattercushion · 18/06/2010 09:36

wow that is fab! Have you got sunkissed shoulders? The Dove body lotion that gradually builds up a light tan is v good - I am v fair and it makes my legs white instead of bluey white ie v subtle.

Haven't been to GP - think it's prob the general grind of having baby and 4yr old getting me down.

I'm based in North Cornwall - it's glorious here today! That cheers me up!

tibni · 20/06/2010 20:03

Hi all.

I have run 30 mins straight today at the gym - something that I have not done for a long time. I have managed 5 gym visits this week which I am pleased with.

Weight loss total now, 10 lb, I have 1 lb to go to reach my original goal (although I may ammend my target a little further)

I am feeling so much better. dd and I went shopping yesterday and I bought some new clothes which shows my confidence is improved.

scattercushion I too am that blue/white. I sometimes use the build up moisturiser but no matter how careful I exfoliate I seem to get orange knees!

So how the rest of you doing?
