My Juicy weight loss journey

mariepuree · 17/04/2010 15:01

Today I started the 7lb in 7 days weight loss programme by Jason Vale. I have done it before and loss nearly 20lb and kept it off for two years. However, due to a number of events, I turned to emotional eating and piled on weight.

I am now 11stone and 9lb and eventually want to reach 9stone and 10lb. So a long road ahead.

I want to kick start my regime by following the juice diet because I enjoyed it first time round and the fast weight loss really motivated me to keep going. I am increasing my fitness activities too so this morning I did the Ultimate Challenge DVD by Nell McAndrew. Monday to Friday, I will be doing the 30 day Shred DVD before I get ready for work.

So here I go. I will try and post every day for the next 7 days to let you know how I am getting on and with any luck, I will lose 7lb or more. Last time I lost 8lb in 7 days and within 6 weeks, 18lb altogether so I know it works.

Surely it's madness to lose 7lb in a week?
I was under the impression the safest and most effective weight loss per week is 2-3lbs?

mariepuree · 17/04/2010 15:35

I think you will find that even if you follow a normal diet, the first week you often lose more than 3lb.

As I said, this is my personal blog on my juicy journey. I have done it before, as have thousands of others and it works.

I'm no expert. Can't seem to get below 9.3 and only want to lose 7 more pounds. Only lost 3lbs in 5 weeks on ww and slimming world
I would try your juicy thing but I love food too much.
Going back on GI diet on Monday...sigh.......
Good luck!

mariepuree · 17/04/2010 17:55

Have you tried decreasing portion sizes? That has always worked for me.

I have just had the super chute juice and it is delicious. I love the tanginess that the ginger and lime provides. Jason Vales calls it a sandwich in a glass (lol). It contains apple, carrot, celery, spinach, cucumber, courgette, beetroot, broccoli stem, lime and ginger. It does not sound appetising but it is delicious.

Husband and DC are having pizza and dough balls for dinner so I have retired to the office to tidy it up.

Portion size is my prob. I'm so greedy.
Realised when I was doing WW. Served myself up 40g of muesli. Thought I'd weighed it wrong! Then realised that's the size I should normally be having and I've been having 3x that much!
I'm miserable with reduced food. Think I need to accept my body shape. I'm not over weight just want to lose a bit of extra flab.
Is it expensive buying all that fruit and veg?

mariepuree · 18/04/2010 10:31

I tend to buy all my fruit and veg from Aldi and pick up other stuff from other places.

I think the key to portion size is to reduce your appetite and when I did the juicing diet last time, my appetite really diminished.

This is day two and so far I have had a glass of hot water with a slice of lemon. I am still not hungry and according to the timetable, I should have had a super juice by now! I am still satiated from the nutrients that I ingested from the juices yesterday.

I know that I should not, but I jumped on the scales this morning and I am down 2lb already! Last time, I lost 8lb in 7 days (and kept it off!) so this time would love to lose 10lbs!

This morning, I also did the Pump it Up work out which last about 50 minutes and I had so much energy.

I am finding this programme easier this time around because I know it works, I have set a long term goal of improving my fitness and by end of April, I want my clothes to fit comfortably again.

After I finish the 7 days, I am going to continue with the 14 day turbo charge programme and hopefully, will have lost 14 llb in total. After that, I will continue juicing and eating healthy meals.

Day 3

Got up at 0600 hours today to the 30 day shred DVD.

Then had carrot and appler zinger juice for breakfast. This kept me satiated until 1100 when I had a cup of super juice.

At 1300 hours had the passion juice (delectable as it is made from banana, pineapple and yogurt).

I then finished off my super juice for dinner at 1800 hours. I have not even bothered with the turbo juice as laid out in the programme because I am not hungry. This diet really does satiate you and I am full of energy.

At work, colleagues were eating biscuits, chocolate etc but I just drank water between juices because I was more thirsty than hungry.

DH is mega impressed.
Roll on Day 4.

Day 5

I am amazed at how much flatter my tummy has become, even though I started my period yesterday on Day 4. I usually put on about 3lb when I start my period so I weighed myself this morning and I have lost 5lb since I started the regime. I think I have actually lost more because I have lost an inch from my waist, hips and upper arms too but with my period starting, hard to tell. The skirt I wore today was really tight on me last week. Now I can swing it around my waist with ease. With my period, I am usually bloated but not this time!

I usually also have sugar cravings when I start my period but that has not happened this time - I think it is down to the natural sugars in the juices that I am drinking.

The most remarkable thing is that I do not feel hungry at all and I forget to have my juices. I am suppose to have 5 juices a day but I am only having 4 and that is because I force myself - I reckon I could get away with just 3 day. That is why I am just going to drink water this evening and stick to the 3 juices that I had throughout the day. I am just not hungry at all!

I'm in the home stretch now and I am looking forward to starting the 14 day programme where I can start using my mandibles again

Day 8

According to the scales I have lost 6lb with which I am delighted. However, I usually put on 2-3lb with my period so I suspect this is masking the truer picture.

My DH commented yesterday that I actually look much slimmer and this ties in with the inches I have lost around my waist, hips, thighs and arms.

I am now starting the 14 day programme and will continue having juices for breakfast and lunch but will have soups and salads for dinner.

Well done!
I've done this before and couldn't manage 7 but did 5 and lost 5lbs. I was really pleased and I'm trying to gear myself to do it again as I would love a bit of a boost.
I may try next week.....

Thank you! I feel wonderful, energised and really motivated with my regime.

My appetite has really diminished. Today I had fruit salad for lunch and that sustained me up until dinner time because I was not hungry.

Riven, The 30 Day Shred DVD is here and really works. Each segment last 20 minutes but it is 20 minutes of hard labour!!

This week I would like to lose another 3-4lb. Also, my DH wants to start drinking one juice a day because he has seen first hand the benefits in terms of the amount of energy that I have plus the fact that I no longer snack because I am satiated.

I am doing the shred DVD and also power walking 2 miles a day! Am struggling with the food and was wondering how easy it would be to do this juicing thing? Are they easy to make also?

mariepuree · 24/04/2010 22:56

Twinkle

You need a juicer and a blender. For the juicer, go for a whole fruit juicer where you can add a whole apple without having to chop it into little pieces. This makes a huge difference in the time it takes to do the juicing. I bought my juicer from Aldi which is based on the deLonghi model and was a fraction of the price.

The juices are very easy to make and are delicious. You can probably find Jason Vale's books in the library.

My neighbour has done the juice diet. Well he started off with juices then went onto healthy eating and lots of exercise. I can't remember now how long ago he started but he has lost about 8 stone and looks amazing. I'll be really interested to hear how you are getting on.

mariepuree · 01/05/2010 20:43

I have lost another 2lb and another inch of waist and hips. I have started running at 6am now (just 2 miles) plus I went to the gym 3 times last week.

I will not be able to juice for most of next week because I am away for work but I will just eat small portions.

Ditesmoi · 01/05/2010 21:52

Are you sure you're not Jason Vale in disguise - lol! Sounds like an interesting diet, will have to visit library and look out for his book.

skandi1 · 02/05/2010 22:07

This sounds really good.

Did you find it hard making juices all the time??

quite like to do it too but wondering whether I'll be able to find time to do all that juicing?

Already have a juicer and blender so suppose I just need the book and the motivation?

Any good advice for me before I take the plunge?

mummymels · 04/05/2010 23:07

That's brilliant, you re doing so well. I also wonder about the time making the juices. We have a juicer here and DH went through a phase of using it a lot last summer but we found it took so long to clean it all out every time that we gave up with it. I know that is no excuse but it was so time consuming so I'd also be interested to hear how you deal with that.

LetThemEatCake · 05/05/2010 20:18

oh, I've done the 7lb in 7 days twice now. Highly recommend - does just what it says on the box and doesn't leave you starving. I find that my mouth, rather than my tummy, gets hungry though, so I do tend to cheat with the odd crudite or handful of nuts.

mummymels · 05/05/2010 23:30

When you do the 7 lbs in 7 days, are you supposed to eat as well or just have juices?

LetThemEatCake · 06/05/2010 13:29

just the juices. 5 a day.

mummymels · 06/05/2010 18:47

That's amazing that they fill you up enough. Do you find them time consuming?

mousemole · 06/05/2010 18:51

Love Jason's juice diet. Lost 7lbs both times. DH lost 10lbs in the week and he wasnt really that overweight.
I find you have to book it in your diary in advance and keep the week as free as you can.
I've also done 3 week long total detoxes in Thailand and Turkey so having the juices is a treat.
You feel so darn healthy afterwards as well which is lovely.

mummymels · 06/05/2010 18:56

That does sound like you must feel great. Do you get any side effects?
