It is really nice! Surprisingly so. DH loves it. As I said though I have done it with butter and cream! And you do need to put it through a food processor. It's great as a topping for shepards pie.

AitchTwoZone · 11/04/2010 10:48

i'm definitely going to try it, thanks.

gherkinwithapurplemerkin · 11/04/2010 11:13

I ave been at the mercy of other peoples' feeding since Fri. Consequence = biffed out to the tune of 2lbs. Grr. back at home and ZONING now.
Been swimming this morning.
Eaten special k with raisins
Lunch - smikoed salmon and salad
Dinner - mushroom omelette.

AND NO BOOZE

cyb · 11/04/2010 11:19

gherkin I cant believe you could really out 2lbs on in that short a time

this is why scales are the divvel's work

AitchTwoZone · 11/04/2010 11:22

i reckon i'll have put on three or four pounds over the weekend. that's sugar, wheat and booze for you, it's a bloat waiting to happen imo. i'm scared to look tbh.

cyb · 11/04/2010 11:23

don't look. it can send one over the edge

AitchTwoZone · 11/04/2010 11:27

actually do you know what, i'm really looking forward to getting back in the zone. most of the sugar i ate was fruit this last couple of days, or irn bru for the hangover. faced with really sweet desserts etc i didn't much have the taste for them any more. same with bread. weird, isn't it? i think i just associate them with those terribly tummy cramps i had after my birthday. even the booze was lashings of champagne and pinot grigio.

cyb · 11/04/2010 11:32

Dh gave me a spoonful of his pear adn peach crumble at a tapas restaurnt on Friday night and it made me go just like this I couldnt have eaten a whole one. THE OLD ME would have eaten that, AND all the kids leftovers.

We've come a long way ahvent we? We should be very proud and not beat ourseles up for minor transgressions

AitchTwoZone · 11/04/2010 11:36

well yes, tbh. it's either a lifestyle change or it isn't. and that includes going to weddings and going out etc and having fun. it's just interesting when you start realising that maybe the fun isn't at the bottom of the bowl after all.

cyb · 11/04/2010 12:42

coo, Aitch thats the most prophetic thing I've read on here in a long time....

fishie · 11/04/2010 12:45

i have made rye bread, it is suitably brick-like. knee is slowly getting better so nice run this morning.

a little light gardening to do after take ds to playground. pork chop green beans for dinner with glee and special offer waitrose fizzy wine.

i feel a yearning for a sticky out patterned skirt, but they seem not to be in shops yet. like this i saw in s times

cyb · 11/04/2010 12:55

fishie thats pretty, I have a couple like that from yonks ago, but never know how low I shouldwear them on my hips.

Even on that model in the picture they look a bit odd with a tight teeshirt tucked in.

AitchTwoZone · 11/04/2010 13:16

gosh those sandals look awful on her feet, so exposed. she could only ever wear them on a private beach.

CheeeseOnToast · 11/04/2010 13:19

Lovely day again! Glorious.

Yesterday I ate cereal for breakfast, sausage in a bun from the market (ahem) but it did have loads of pickled cabbage, and I left most of the bun. Then I had a pear cider, then a viscount, then two glasses of red wine. Then a kebab for dinner, but it was a proper Turkish one, literally just grilled lamb on a skewer with loads and loads of salad in a flatbread. Again, I left most of the bread and ate it open.

Then, erm, three beers and a whisky sour!! Whoops. Couldn't not though, it was a lovely day and it kind of turned into an all day bender. But I think I was still sensible with food choices - i did leave most of the bread so really all i had was meat and salad - but I concede the booze wasn't all that great. Still, it was the warmest Saturday we've had for ages and I was in the mood! Although the old me would have biffed on all of it, and probably also eaten crisps and goodness knows what else in the pub, and I was noticeably restrained compared to my friends.

Today will be better, cereal for breakfast, and for dinner i think I'll do that lemon/garlic/white wine roast chicken thing that someone posted before with the mashed beans and broccoli. Looking forward to it already!

Hope everyone has great Sundays. Ooh I love wildlife places themaster, which one are you going to?

NomDePlume · 11/04/2010 14:33

am back from Wales now. We took both sets of BILS and their wives to my mums for curry and cuntryside. We went yomping through the wild green yonder this morning before leaving to blow away the hangover delicate feelings and then undid the good work with sausage and bacon rolls. Hmmm.

They were nice though and both SILs (the lollipops) said I was looking skinny and fit. I was v impressed. The rowing and zoning are obv working.

Themaster lives in Africa, I think (Kenya perhaps?) so she is prob going to a proper game reserve type place, not W Mids safari Park

gherk - I am impressed with your zoning.

I have one of those sorts of skirts, it is gorgeous, in greys with embroidery. It's really nice but has to be worn with a plain fitted t shirt as it's quite busy. I do feel a teensy bit self conscious in it though, even though it is beautiful, as it is quite folksy and I'm not a skirt wearer usually, nevermind something so feminine (but not floaty, I can't do floaty or pastelly).

BudaisintheZONE · 11/04/2010 15:21

Was that a deliberate typo Nom? "Cuntryside" - PMSL!

Your skirt sounds lovely.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 11/04/2010 15:21

I like that skirt but I'm rubbish at wearing things like that - I have -ahem- generously proportioned hips and the wretched things just stick out for miles on me. A-line or pencil is way to go for me, if I remember my Gok book rightly.

Thanks for tips about bean mash, Aitch. Will do some this evening. Alas, not lo-carbing so I won't use too much oil.

I was so good for lunch - had a Waitrose tabouleh salad (a minute one, not a huuuge bloater sized one) left over from yesterday's picnic, and some salad and carrot sticks. Then strawberries. Then spoilt it all by cramming a large section of easter egg into gob on sofa. For some reason I even weighed it first (30g) but ate it anyway. Haven't had the heart to get out my WW slidey points counter thingy and calculate the damage.

NomDePlume · 11/04/2010 15:44

it's a bit of an MNism I think, Buda. Am impressed that you have time to hang out with us when you're going on hol tonight. I usually spend the day before a holiday panic packing / washing.

BudaisintheZONE · 11/04/2010 16:05

I am only going for 4 days and it is just DS and I. Have the packing down to a fine art usually. All packed and ready except for some snacks for the plane for DS. Taxi coming in a hour. DH is coming to airport too as he is flying to Warsaw for a 2 day meeting and flights are actually at similar times.

Will be checking in from Dublin to keep me on the straight and narrow too.

fishie · 11/04/2010 16:08

where's your skirt from ndp? i can't afford £120.

NomDePlume · 11/04/2010 16:10

i am now even more impressed at your organisational skills.

Have a safe journey. Do check in for regular bollockings motivational shin ups.

NomDePlume · 11/04/2010 16:15

it was a monsoon one. I think it was about £75, or it might have been £79. I don't think it's still in store. It is a bit longer than that one too, on the knee rather than just above (on me anyway, I'm 5ft 7).

SuSylvester · 11/04/2010 17:11

iw ent to a rugby festival on south coast.
mates larfed that iw as wearing the same today as when its minus5
