Have decided this 3 stone is coming off, whether it likes it or NOT!!! I have given myself a target of 5 months to remove it... lol

I am fed up of feeling like this.. so dh has set me a challenge... as we are going to be apart for the next 5 months that if I am nearer to my target than he is then we get to go to VEGAS for my 30th and if not then scotland fishing... Now Scotland is beautiful but I don't fancy the fishing...

So have decided it's on like DONKEY KONG... its time for the weight to go....

Anyone want to join....??????

Sounds good to me! I have 4 1/2 stone to lose

twinkle183 · 05/04/2010 09:43

Welcome angel886... what methods are you going to be using???

Hi I'm in .
I actually started trying losing weight lastt week and have lost 2lb.
I am 5ft 12 and 12st and I am hoping to get down 9st.
I have started running (but have hurt my knee ) and have been doing an hour on the wii fit plus every day. I am not on any sort of diet just cut out a lot of crap and ate less.

Prosecco · 05/04/2010 10:11

Erm.....does he also have 3 stone to lose? Men tend to lose it faster,I think, especially if this is a smaller percentage of his body weight. I think he may end up fishing. Why not just make it of you are nearly at your target (regardless of how he does) you go to Vegas. I would hate to think of all your hard work not being rewarded just because of his metabolism

p.s. I am looking to lose 2-3 stone.

twinkle183 · 05/04/2010 10:13

Welcome comewhinewithme.. congrats about the 2lb weight loss...

We are actually the same height and am wanting to get down to 8st 7lbs as I have a tiny frame and a back complaint!!!

Its a shame about your knee.. try swimming as that takes the weight off the knee... also cycling should be okay as well!!! I love the wii fit... which exercises are you doing on there????

I'm going to join slimming world and try to walk at least 5k a day - either by pushing my pram or a jog on my treadmill.

It doesn't help that my lovely family felt I needed lots of easter eggs aaaarrrrggghhhh!!!

twinkle183 · 05/04/2010 13:13

Prosecco my dh struggles to loose weight...!!! He can put it on quickly as well so we are sort of at even stevens really!!!

I am not going fishing so am determined and if Hannah Waterman can do it in five months then so can I!!!

I know I'll be fine....

angel886 I know what you mean about the easter eggs its taking the strength of an ox

Thanks .

Am very jealous of Vegas I'll be lucky if I get a daytrip to Skegness this year!

The wii fit is brilliant I have done an hour a day on it since last Tuesday, I mainly do the jogging, step and the muscle routines but I do like the boxing and hula too.

Will think about swimming it is just hard to get any time to myself atm especially during the school holidays.

twinkle183 · 05/04/2010 17:12

comewhinewithme I know what you mean about school holidays....

Am doing my 30 day shred dvd later and see how I get on with it...!!

I know its gonna hurt.. but no pain no gain I gues

Right, well I joined slimming world. I had to fight back the tears when I got weighed. It's the heaviest I've ever been including when I was pregnant with my dd

I'm definitely not ever going to see that weight again!

Good luck to all!

comewhinewithme · 06/04/2010 09:06

I know how you feel angel this is also the biggest I have been too .

Twinkle is the dvd good? I might have to give it a go.

I didn't do anything yesterday apart from slob but I am back on it today.

Have a good day everyone .

Prosecco · 06/04/2010 09:20

This is also the biggest I have been. I look at myself sometimes and think how did this happen? But then I can kid myself at other times that I am quite svelte and happily munch a cake and cappucino. But...........none of my clothes fit any more.

I have also decided this time to do some exercise- my husband is relly strict with his exercise and I just don't have that discipline but am hoping it will allow me to the occasional treat.

Also sometimes I think, what is the point- I am so huge it will take forever for me to feel different- what are your motivators?

Sorry for the rant. I have just weighed myself and Easter stuffing my face has added on another few pounds.

comewhinewithme · 06/04/2010 09:28

Prosecco Sorry you are feeling a bit fed up.

Not sure what motivates me, I just want to be healthy and my two sisters are gorgeous and I always feel like the frumpy old one when I'm with them.

twinkle183 · 06/04/2010 09:32

Prosecco I know you and the others are feeling...! I am also at my largest and up until my last child had never had any problem loosing my post baby weight but this time it is different for some reason!

I hate the fact that none of my clothes fit and that I have to squeeze myself in to point where I feel the button is going to pop off!

Although my dh is mad on exercise while is away at work we are a bad influence for each other when is home so I have 21 weeks to get myself sorted with eating heathily and fitness wise so that he doesn't disturb it when he returns! My motivators are my kiddies... I hate been out of breath when running after them and I want to be around when they are older.. but mainly I want to do it for me!

At the moment I can't even look in the mirror cos I am horrified that I allowed myself to get myself in to this situation and that I abused my body with food! I want to like and love what I see in the mirror...

So I know I have lots of work to do but when I did Hannah Watermans dvd last night.. and she removed the weight in 5 months it gave me a kick up the bum.. afterall she was a size 16 where as I am only a 12 at the moment and I just think if she can do it then so can I!!

I hope I have helped...!!!!

twinkle - I am not on a diet, but just wanted to say that I loved your title! Also, having done both of the trips you have listed - the Vegas one def wins (just dont eat and drink too much and put yourslef back to square one if you do 'win' the Vegas trip!) I would recommend that you stay in the Wynn Las Vegas - and do a helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon.

As someone who is passionate about exercise I would encourage all of you to get active to raise your metabolisms (although it sounds like you are busy doing that already!)Remember - it will be uncomfortable. If you are just pootling about then you are kidding yourself! 30 Day shred as already mentioned is a great challenge, and execellent for building muscle as well as burning calories. You really should be trying to build muscle via some sort of circuit/weight training, as well as the aerobic stuff such as running/fast walking. My last point is that swimming has shown as a less effective exercise for those seeking to lose weight - basically because it doesn't raise your body temperature as much (which makes the blood go to your surface - which is why you get red and hot when running), the blood stays around your stomach/intestines which means that immediately afterwards you are hungry and it is harder to stick to your diet.

Good luck all!

twinkle183 · 06/04/2010 09:39

notyummy thanks for the help with the exercise advice... you sound like your a great motivator! Would be great if you stick around....

Thanks also for the advice on where to stay when I win the vegas challenge... any info or numbers on how to book the helicopter trip would be fab!!

Thanks

That is great advice about the exercise notyummy.

notyummy · 06/04/2010 10:12

Will try and remember who we booked our trip with. DH arranged it as a present for me. We went to Vegas when I was 6 month pregnant and tbh it would have been better at another time because I wanted to be able to enjoy a few nice cocktails!!

Twinkle - is your DH military? Just wondered because he is away for so long. My Dh is military, and I am ex-serving as well.

I think the key thing with exercise is (unfortunately) discipline because it can be hard to fit in with the DCs, particularly if DH/DP is away. Things that allow you to exercise at home are good. I have a Wii fit, which is alright; I think it is good for getting you started but not necessarily for pushing you - but overall better than sitting on the couch! EA active for the Wii is good and pushes you a bit more - it also has LOADS of workouts to chose from. DVDs are obviously handy to fit round the kids. At the moment I am using the 30 Day shred, Kristin MacGee's Pilates and Yoga DVD and Billy Blank;s Bootcamp workout. None of these are easy options, but the Shred and Bootcamp are good challenging circuits. The pilates one is excellent for your tummy/core. I can do all of these with DD around as I have trained her to play 'around' me whilst mummy is 'doing her sport'. DH also bought me a crosstrainer for Xmas and this is a good source of aerobic exercise whilst catching up on the programmes on sky plus. I also run when ever I can - if DH is around or sometimes from work. It is the best calorie burner!

twinkle183 · 06/04/2010 10:25

notyummy yeah he is navy fleet air arm!! what does yours do???

I have a treadmill which I do use but its finding time to fit it all in espcially as my dcs are all under 6...! (6,2 &1)

I also have the 30 day shred dvd which I am starting tomorrow... also the Hannah Waterman which is no easy option either....!!! I got a wii fit board for my birthday which is fun for not getting too bored with the other methods of dvds and treadmill....!!!

I must reconnect sky in the treadmill room as I am currently addicted to Biggest Loser on Sky real lives... and it would be great to run to that while watching them loose weight....!

I must admit that would stop me from snacking in the evening while dh is away cos I get bored!

He is in the RAF so they have planes in common. I was in the RAF as well.

Sounds like you have plenty of exercise to keep you going. Fingers crossed for you.

comewhinewithme · 06/04/2010 13:41

Thanks for the great advice notyummy I am getting the EA active for the wii next weekend.
I am finding it hard to do anything too far away from the house as I am still bf dd and dp works funny shifts so it is usually jogging ,walking and the wii fit for me.

Have already done 40 mins on the wii today while the baby was asleep .

Hope everyone is having a good day.

twinkle183 · 06/04/2010 14:55

comewhinewithme thats brill... well done!!

Am going to go for a power walk later and do hw dvd... oh I know I am going to feel the burn...

Have also decided to start taking pics so I can see the change.. I think this will be a great motivation tool.. (not that I am going to be showing anyone this pics)

But also going to use them as if I go for anything naughty it will remind myself that I don't want to be this way anymore...!

Keep it up girlies!!!

notyummy · 07/04/2010 08:50

Just done a 40 minute Shred - levels 1 and 2 - with DH. It was hard!! I used 3 kg weighst and DH used 5 kg. DD ran around dodging the waving arms and legs!

Am away for a few days - keep up all the good work ladies.

Purplefan · 08/04/2010 22:18

Hiya,
Can i join this thread? I felt exactly like this about 6 weeks ago! Decided to do something about it and I joined Slimming world (the 1st time that I have ever braved to join a dieting class!)
I am so glad that I took the bull by the horns and did this because I have been doing this for 5 weeks now and have lost 1 stone and 1lb!!!

I have still got at least a stone to lose, but would love to lose a bit more than that to be honest!
It can be done, I think the main battle is getting it into your head that you are doing something and you are gonna stick to it!!
