oh look there isn't much left to cull. hardly any wine, portion sizes down to miniscule and gigantic steamed veg intake. i never did eat sweets or choc. have given up cheese. 4+ hours running a week plus several long walks.

WHY AM I STILL BMI 25 (69k/10st 12)?

largeginandtonic · 25/03/2010 08:15

I stood next to her in a queue at the mn picnic last year. He had his hands all over her.

I had to cover the children's eyes.

largeginandtonic · 25/03/2010 08:16

It will vanish all of a sudden Fishie. Stay strong.

geordieminx · 25/03/2010 08:17

It must be the heavy air outside today (((clutching at straws)))

We'll all be fine tomorrow, and will have lost 2lb. I think sometimes it does me good not to loose every day, otherwise I get a bit over-confident and start eating a bit more.

Twas def the wine that knacked me yeterday... am very cross with self

SuSylvester · 25/03/2010 08:18

this wil MOTIVATE oyu all for tomorrow

if i weigh self on hall carpet instead of floorboards i am 2k lighter. do you think it counts?

actually i have a special weighing room, it is our front bedroom which is currently being decorated. is like a very dusty ballet studio with nothing in there but me a toolbox and the scales.

BariatricObama · 25/03/2010 08:28

always weigh under same conditions.

i pick mine up and shake it a few times!

FeedTheBeast · 25/03/2010 09:05

morning all

well, i didn't do the stats bit yesterday, i'm 5'8" started pre preg 9st 10lbs, now at 40+5 i am 12st 11ish.

Target is to drop 22kg, hoping that about 10 kg will come off pretty quickly after the birth - its my 1st so not sure how likely this is any ideas? then 1 kg a week for the final 12kg. My sister lost about 2 stone during my pregnancy and has become a feeder, looks positivley delighted whenever she sees me eating, but its ok, this shouty thread has got my head in the right place now

yesterday (was feeling fed up + overdue!)
20 raisin wheats + s milk
melon, strawberries, yoghurt
cheese salad butty
more melon, loads of raw carrots
steak, about 6 oven chips, salado
skinny cow ice cream lolly

feeling lots more positive today and happy for the baby to chill in there as long as it likes! no worries!!

BariatricObama · 25/03/2010 09:08

feedthebeast - forget about losing weight, you haven't even had the baby yet!

hope you baby puts in an appearance soon! good luck

LeSingeEstDansLarbre · 25/03/2010 09:08

please remember to just enjoy the baby when he or she comes, it's a bit depressing to be thinking about weight right now is it not? will you be bfing? for some people the weight shoots off with no effort once the mini-hoover is attached.

BecauseImWorthIt · 25/03/2010 09:12

Agree with BO and Singe. When I got pregnant with DS2 I was 9 stone 4. 10 days after having him I was back to 9 stone 4.

Just concentrate on eating healthily for now, and focus on you being unstressed.

And hope he/she comes soon!

BariatricObama · 25/03/2010 09:12

didn't for me!

MamaGoblin · 25/03/2010 09:16

Feedthebeast - didn't realise you were imminent! Shouldn't worry about the weight now, you'll have plenty on your plate as it is! Agree re. breastfeeding - generally helps weight come off, but please don't be upset if it doesn't - some people find bf doesn't make any difference. (Am one of them!) And you'll need to eat more if bf-ing.

Good luck!

LeSingeEstDansLarbre · 25/03/2010 09:17

i did say some people, bo, on purpose. among my group of friends the majority lost weight to a startling degree, but a few kept it on until they stopped bfing and then it went. me, i was a really rubbish bfer and my children weren't great at removing milk so while i had the ravenous bfing hunger (and a new bread machine, unfortunately), it wasn't actually going anywhere but my gut. still, it's coming off now, so there we go.

BariatricObama · 25/03/2010 09:18

tbh, it started coming off then my mother started buying be biscuits 'to keep my strength up' and that was that!

largeginandtonic · 25/03/2010 09:22

Good grief Feedthebeast EAT THE CAKE. It is the law when preg to enjoy yourself as much as you can.

You need some extra weight to feed the baby. There is a reason Mother Nture stores the fat.

You should not be thinking about weight loss yet!

Fwiw i usually gain about 4 stone when preg (have been a few times) it is gone by the time they are 1. Unless you lose it and put it back on again (why i am here)

I was about 13 and half stone when i had Bluebell last year You sound tiny to me.

largeginandtonic · 25/03/2010 09:25

I don't lose the last of the weight till i stop bf either. It could just be i stop saying to myself "I need that cake it is feeding the baby" of course.

LeSingeEstDansLarbre · 25/03/2010 09:26

yes i am worried that this shouty thread has got your head in completely the wrong place tbh. please, just eat food and enjoy it and have fun with your new baby, diets are for later.

BecauseImWorthIt · 25/03/2010 09:27

I would also consider doing some cooking now, making things that you can freeze into one/two person portions. You can also buy bags of frozen berries, which make a great smoothie, very quickly.

Then you've always got a meal to hand.

Make sure you stock your cupboards with good store cupboard stuff, so that you always have the wherewithal for a quick, nutritious meal. (Nothing wrong with beans on toast!)

You will not have the time/inclination to think about cooking when the baby arrives, which is why it's all too easy to turn to biscuits/cakes.

thehillsarealive · 25/03/2010 09:29

morning! have done the school run, parked and walked which was nice, just off for a hill walk with the dog. off to put my pedometer on.

thanks for the wake up music - have jumped around the lounge - its a good job we have concrete floors and not floor boards

thehillsarealive · 25/03/2010 09:30

oh forgot to say what breakfast was - large cup of proper coffee, 2 slices of wholemeal bread toasted, 1 teaspoon crunchy peanut butter and a banana.
I used to hate peanut butter but my fit and healthy slim friend said it was good for you, in small amounts so now i steal the kids whole earth.

off i pop!

FeedTheBeast · 25/03/2010 09:42

ah thanks ladies I have just been worrying about being a big chunk at various weddings etc coming up and on holiday with fellow (skinny) new mum in september. Didin't help that MIL has been doing a continual running (negative) commentary about the size of me throughout the preg, ie - 12 weeks - god look at u, hope ur not going to be ENORMOUS, 20 weeks, "looking very wide aren't you", etc etc.

Freezer is stocked up, lots of comfort food & stews i made, think have just been nervous about sister being skinny for first time in years & me being all lardy troffing cake and biscuits with big podgy cheeks looking like a whale on post birth pics.

ok, so will not be militant with self, do plan on BFeeding & hope that this iccle baby is as good at eating as its parents!!

BariatricObama · 25/03/2010 09:44

just be pleased for you sister for her skinnyness and pleased for yourself for having a gorgeous wee baby.

MamaGoblin · 25/03/2010 09:44

TheHills - at pedometer. Must buy one.

Is a tiny bit of peanut butter really ok? I was gorging my way through a whole jar a week ago. Not sure a teaspoon would cut it, TBH, so maybe I'd better not buy it for a while!

Talking of portion sizes, re. Su earlier on, I weighed my bran flakes for first time and realised I had exactly TWICE the 'recommended' helping size (paltry 30g, ffs) on the packet. So it is more like 3 ww points, plus the milk. Am gutted. Who eats 30 g of cereal?? Go on, weigh some out and see how little it is.
