Hi everyone! I have just started the no count plan with very high hopes! Does anybody have any good lunch ideas which don't involve hot meals or soups? (!?)
I'm kind of hoping to get to 10st 7lbs (from 11st 4lbs at 5ft 8) so I'm not overweight before trying for baby no.2, so any help would be much appreciated (although obviously not with the actual trying for baby no2!!)

Could someone please tell me what to expect at my first meeting? Will I have to buy recipe books? Does the food include a lot of low fat sustitutes (I would rather avoid those and other fake foods IYSWIM)?

Will Margery Dawes be in charge?

ark · 02/09/2005 10:07

Dior in all fairness to man at gym - he said this will be a contributory factor, but also that i am not eating enough to cover my activity. It was actually ww leader who said that I gained wieght from to much exercise. I think is a mixture of things that have caused the gain however I think what the gym shows is that weight loss is not all about loosing weight iyswim it is about changing your body shape and your perception of it. Either way I feel I hav done well and it has given me renewed vigour for th ww aso is all good

ark · 02/09/2005 10:16

and hello to everybody who has just started. Suzy I was never forced to buy recipe books etc - although I actually found it interesting to see what they recommend.

Mummyvicky - well done on your loss - I often find this I 've done well and tyhen see nothing on the scales - maybe next week you'll see it?

Springchicken good heavens what a loss for your first week congratulations!

Misstims - Catsmother is your woman for queen of the no count - I might try it next week - I am just so disorganised!

on a seperate note - i love Fridays!

Mummyvicky · 02/09/2005 11:20

misstimms · 02/09/2005 16:43

hello everyone, so far (3 days in) I am absolutley loving no count I thought it would be impossible because of the food restrictions, but am actually finding it easier because of them (if that makes any sense?) However it remains to be seen if I actually lose any weight... Thanks Dior for the lunch ideas. I'm not attending any meetings, so it helps to chat to you all. Any further advice/tips are most gratefully received!

Gaine lasdt week- half a pound- was really annoyed with myself, but that afternoon period arrived early and I can gain up to 5 lbs then so i hope that accounted for it! hadn't broken the diet at all, but was on reduced excercise as DS's AS was bad last week with school on the horizon.

I know I must be getting there: jeans are now so loose that when I belt them I end up with a flap of fabric where my stomach used to be! !. I'm also making some lovely food- we had a no count seafood curry last night, even DH loved it.

I am thinking about excercise now, maybe running? That's something I always wanted to do, but never got round to. Our carnivals are here from the 17th which means on average a 5 mile walk followed by a 10 minute sprint every Saturday, plus a very active lifestyle. And I got a bike to ride to Uni, thought it's downhill all the way

PeachyClair · 02/09/2005 20:57

Oha nd our Leader, heather, is fab- really nice and encouraging. I would have given up weeks ago without her, but I know she believes in me

Dior, maybe that's his s way of trying to support you!!?? I'm sorry that he's being so negative. My dp can be like that at times, last time he said something about what i was eating i told he wasn't exactly slimmer of the year himself and until he is shut the * up! hop eyou feel better today. I've ate like a true pig over the last 2 weeks so dreading meeting tomorrow

fee77 · 05/09/2005 13:29

Oh dior - men are insensitve clots at times! Mine keeps on at me to do more exercise, but i can't be bothered at the mo - it's not like he does any. We bought some whack pads last year to use together - we havn'e touched them!
I put on 1lb this week, but (excuses!) i was weighed at night - usually do it in the morning, and dd started nursery so i was comfort eating and drinking big time! So far i have been good, but it is mil b'day today and ihave made her a cake, so i will have to have a slice!!!
I do need a kick up the rear - i was 1/2 lb away from my 2 stone mark - now i am 3 lbs away. By the end of september i will have got it, or i give up!

fee77 · 06/09/2005 15:52

Are you all busy doing sit ups and things?

ark · 06/09/2005 15:59

pmsl

sorry have been working [groan emotion] having a good week though and am off to pilates shortly!

linnywith2 · 06/09/2005 22:32

hi everyone,
havent posted for over a week.. havent had time really.. been walking late in evening and have so so much to do when i get home im too whacked to go on-line!
anyway here i am.. lost 1 lb last week but looking at my card i havent made any progress since mid july.. just have lost what i gained on hols really.. hopefully lbs will start shifting again SOON..
been reading back on posts to catch up, welcome to all newcomers.. you're all doing great..

Dior.. men can be so so insensitive.. theyre really from another planet.. you've done so well to lose all that weight and go on to become a leader and inspire others to do the same.. and of course theres all of us here that you help and inspire, take no notice of him..

ark.. well done on changing body shape, isnt that what its all about really.. i know its a real buzz to see it coming off on scales too but im coming to a conclusion now that for me personally if i didnt lose much more id accept that maybe im at the weight im supposed to be, and just keep watchin points and excercise to keep toned..
having said that, im 4.5 lbs off my goal and i so want to get there and be a gold member,
this is my 5th attempt at ww and i've never reached goal.. and never got to weight i am before so i really want to do it this time!!

keep up the good work everyone!!!!!!!

ark · 07/09/2005 09:57

linny - I had no idea you had so little to go - well done! I think it is tricky - when your body gets to a comfortable weight each pouind you need to loose may as well be ten pounds! I think surely if you keep tracking and doing your points you will surely get there!

Did a pilates class last night - all the people who told me it was easy were liars! Really good yet relaxing workout would definately recommend!

catsmother · 07/09/2005 11:56

Hi all - weigh-in this morning and I've lost 5.5lbs this week. The walking is obviously paying off. Plus, have had a rotten cold, and though I've been eating haven't had a huge appetite. I got fed up and pointed out to the weigh-in woman that I reached my 10% last week (as she didn't notice again this week) so got my marvellous keyring after all.

On a side note, talking of sit-ups, could anyone tell me the right way to do them as you read so many conflicting things and I really should start doing them. Have noticed a lot of weight off my middle, but would like to tone up as well. I'm now at the point where all of a sudden stuff is starting to fit again - in fact, stuff that was too tight a couple of months ago, is now too loose ! That is such a fantastic feeling and gives me so much more choice deciding what to wear.

Linny - well done on being so close to goal. I don't see how you can fail now, and you must look and feel fantastic.

Dior - I agree with all the others about men. What's more, it's a well known fact that the men who are most critical of women's weight are usually the ones who need to shape up themselves. Eating a pudding now and then isn't a crime for heaven's sake. I get really annoyed with my DP sometimes - he said when I started that he'd support me and eat NC food too blah blah blah, but though he gets big portions, he then goes and gets bread and butter after and if we're eating out, he thinks that's a licence to be totally insensitive. For example, Sunday luch at the pub, he'll order the "man-size" roast which is just plain greedy and when we had a chinese, he sat there with prawn crackers and sesame prawn toast in front of him, which he knows are my absolute favourites. So much for the support !

ark · 07/09/2005 12:21

cm well done !! That is absolutely fab you are a shining example of no count working.

ark · 08/09/2005 11:20

mv - congrats thats a fabulous loss! How long has the first stone taken? my weigh in is at lunch time - scared in advance as have had a slow couple of months - had a good week though so fingers crossed!

Springchicken · 08/09/2005 11:36

CM and MV, they are great loses, well done

I had my weight in last night, I've maintained my weight but lost another 1.5 inches off hips and 1 inch off waist. So that 7lb and 5 inches in 2 weeks.
Does it make any difference what time of the month it is? My period is due today and i have felt bloated and uncomfortable for a few days? Also, does having the week off your pill make you retain fluid?

Can you tell i'm clutching at straws?

Mummyvicky · 08/09/2005 11:43

ark- this is my 6th week, so very pleased! Im on 10 extra points for breastfeeding and not always managing the full 30 points!!

Springchicken- yes water retention can add on several lbs. 7lbs in two weeks is fantastic!!! I bet next week youll lose loads, if it makes you feel better!
