Or, which one, on a low budget?

OnlyWantsOne · 01/02/2010 16:05

me too

we should look for second hand ones

dinkystinky · 01/02/2010 17:18

Or try freecycle - its february so all those january resolutioners should be waning

Am nervously going out again tomorrow morning early to do my run. Have tried doing an evening run, but I find it really hard to sleep afterward in the night as I have loads of energy.

When I used to run regularly, I used to find the treadmill a lot easier than running outdoors, and easier on my joints. I also used to be driven by time on a treadmill which got boring instead of concentrating on running a route. But it is difficult getting time to do a run when you've got little ones on hand.

How many miles are people doing, am sticking to 2 miles at the moment.

dinkystinky · 02/02/2010 08:49

Am going to aim to do half an hour on the treadmill during my lunchbreak today - I agree MrsWill it does seem alot kinder on the joints. I try to chop and change my treadmill run by playing around with speed intervals but it is quite boring I have to admit. Roll on the spring when can go out for early morning runs in the light...

Supercherry · 02/02/2010 09:10

Mrswill, are you running in the dark? Hope you're running a well lit, safe route

Yes, I will definitely be getting a second hand treadmill, but would rather run round the park if I had the choice.

I'm going to check out ebay.

Last night, after putting my 2yr old DS to bed, I tried to put my 3mth old DS2 down so I could do my exercise DVD but he was having none of it! I got him to sleep and put him down twice, and started the video twice but only managed a total of 10 minutes. I gave up at almost 9pm. DS2 likes to sleep in the sling until we go to bed.

My sister has agreed to watch the boys today at some point so I can go for a run, hoorah.

dinkystinky · 03/02/2010 14:08

Hmm didnt run yesterday as too knackered from DS2 playing silly buggers in the night but just ran 5k in 36 minutes today - feeling rather tired and wiating for the post running high to hit.

queenofeastsheen · 03/02/2010 15:52

well done dinkystink- am out tonight for run and hoping to get same high!

dinkystinky · 07/02/2010 09:32

Gosh its gone quiet on here. Is everyone out running ?

Managed 3.5 miles yesterday outside - anyone else find that they definitely seem to run slower outside than they do inside on the treadmill?

queenofeastsheen · 07/02/2010 19:49

yes i am still running!!!
I thought it had gone quiet too.
did 3 miles in 45mins on weds- going out tomorrow

where is everyone?

Supercherry · 07/02/2010 20:01

I'm still here. Been doing Nell DVD most nights as still struggling to get someone to watch boys.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 08/02/2010 13:45

Mind if I join ladies?! I'm just getting back into running after 3 months off for an operation.

I was able to run about 4 miles before my op and I'm now doing about 3 miles with a couple of walking bits inbetween.

It was going well last week then I got food poisoning so am feeling a bit fragile still. I went out this morning but spent the whole run feeling sluggish and like maybe I shouldn't be quite so far from the loo

Anyway 3 and a bit miles in sleety weather took me 38 mins.

Supercherry · 08/02/2010 14:45

Hello Doyouthinktheysaurus, that's good going.

Rollergirl1 · 08/02/2010 15:11

Hi ladies, just to let you know that there is a fair few of us runners just starting out in the New Years resolution couch to 5k thread in the Sports & Fitness section. Would be great if you joined us!

I started in jan with the 0-5k podcasts but abandoned them after a few weeks and started doing my own thing, increasing running time by 5 mins each run. I did my first 5k yesterday in 33 mins and am really chuffed.

Any newbies to running in the South Liverpool area? My friend has just started an informal running group for women aimed at complete beginners, every Sunday morning. She has a page on facebook, I would be very glad to pass on her details if you want to know a bit more. It started last Sunday at Otterspool Prom. A lovely, small and supportive group. Hope it's OK to post this here
