2010 weight loss, Loose 2 stone by March - anyone want to join me?

Disenchanted3 · 31/12/2009 12:25

Hiya,

Am starting Monday, I have not weighed myself yet and think I probably need to loose close to 3 stone but am aiming for 2 by end of March.

Will weigh myself in here on Monday and update each Monday after.
Anyone want to join me?

Murtette, if you want to get a head start without pointing, the SW extra easy might suit you for a few days

I am doing this, and I think it's working - it certainly feels like it's working (I'm not weighing myself till Monday).

Essentially, it's one serving of bread or cereal (I'm having 1/2 cup porridge (dried size!), but 2 weetabix counts as same), a fixed amount of milk (I just use milk in my tea and make porridge with water), and unlimited lean protein, complex carbs, fruit and veg, eggs, fat-free or very low-fat plain dairy.

A very basic explanation, but you get the drift.

Oh - and you could safely have a couple of biscuits as well

ABitOfPizzazz · 06/01/2010 12:47

Will be interested to see how you do with the Wii fit Dis. Thinking of getting one.

I know WW works really well, but I can't seem to commit any more, so I've worked out a plan of exercise x4 per week, and eating healthily 4 times a day.

Murtette, know how you feel about the hot choc and cake.

I have seen a jacket I haven't been able to wear for 2 years and found a pair of jeans stashed in the back of the wardrobe I can't do up, so it's keeping me going.

Phas - I've had a leaflet through the door for SW, it looks good with plenty to eat.

MABS · 06/01/2010 13:11

very pissed off here on south coast too was do gym class last nite but snow started, couldn't drive and gym had to close. today am totally stuck at home with kids and dh , all driving me mad! and i keep eating!

really admire anyone who works with their dh, we would kill each other in a week and that's after 23 years together.

PhaseolusLunatus · 06/01/2010 13:13

I find the not running out of points thing with SW good. Although I was hungry for a couple of days this week despite eating vast amounts of food. I think it was just my body adjusting, though, as feel quite satisfied with normal amounts now.

I just like to know there's always something pretty substantial to eat if I feel the need!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 06/01/2010 13:28

Groan

DD and I had to trot down the high street to do some jobs and it was fffffffffreezing so we thought we should haveca little winter warmer. She had this glorious hot chocolate that looked beautiful with tiny pink and White marshmallows, flakey bits, chocolate powdery stuff. Honestly it was as pretty as anything and went down a treat.

I had a filter coffee and it was as dull as if it had been dust.

Cheepz · 06/01/2010 13:39

Can I crash your weight loss party, was 13-9 on saturday night after massive christmas ane new year binge and have settled at 13-3 monday morning (easy pounds off - morning weigh in not evening, not eating like a horse, not eating out all the time, lots of fibre increased throughput (hope not tmi) and then by this morning am at 13-1 - by watching everything I eat. Want to get to 11 and a half but TTC so need to be careful about not going crazy on it and if get pregnant will all go south - although could still use a few pounds off or at least none gained in first trimester.

Seems like you guys have lots of tips and support for each other so would love to tag along

I have Wii fit, and Wii personal trainer - they are good for not being able to have an excuse not to do half an hour in the evening. Especially the Wii step where you can switch over and wtch TV when using it.

Not doing any excercise at the moment .. too tired and cold with work and 2.5 yr old ds, but have been basically avoiding as much fat as possible, unless good fat - have high cholesterol so its important i eat smoked salmon and avocados and nuts which all have good fats, but avoid butter and cheese and cakes which are high in bad fats, fille fridge with veg as well so now have to cook it, and have managed to make my lunch every day this week to avoid the scrummy chicken and mushroom pies upstairs.

I am inherently weak though!!

Have added to list - hope you will forgive me for also wizzing through and changing weight to wt to try and make it more readable - although I guess all anyone cares about is the number at the end!! scuse my OCD tendencies!!!

Lovecat · 06/01/2010 14:02

Afternoon all!

Off to another bad start, was hanging about waiting to hear if DD's school was shut (they have a texting system) - they didn't let us know school would be open til 8.50, so I ended up getting breakfast late at work, which was not particularly low-carb but rather nice (small amount of thick greek yog and berries, probably about 6g of carbs?)

Must get organised for breakfast the night before, I think!

I'm making soup when I get home (if I get home, it's coming down thick and fast now!) - have a recipe for courgette and ginger soup which looks delish (but I shall have to be strongwilled not to want a hunk of bread to dunk in it!) and a chicken breast with cheese & bacon.

Dinner is salmon and avocado salad.

Dis, will be interested to hear about how the Wii fit goes, I would love one but DH is resistant...

ABitOfPizzazz · 06/01/2010 14:18

MABS - snow has stopped and it looks like it's thawing where we are, in South Hampshire.

Hope you get home alright Lovecat. Your soup sounds good.

Welcome Cheepz, I am also trying to kick start my exercise routine!

JODIEwantsanewname · 06/01/2010 14:25

Homity Pie - (serves4)

12oz potatoes, peeled and cubed
9oz Onions, chopped
9oz Leeks - thinly sliced
7oz frozen peas
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
handful of fresh parsley chopped
handful of fresh thyme, chopped
2 eggs, lightly beaten
3fl oz veg stock
6oz reduced fat cheddar, grated
salt and pepper, to season.

Spray a large non stick frying pan with Fry Light and stir fry the leeks, onions and peas until have softened

Add mash, garlic, parsley, thyme, eggs, stock and 1/2 the cheese and stir to combine.

Spoon mixture into oven proof dish and scatter over the remaining cheese, bake for 20 mins, or until golden.

on Slimming world it's 0 points for a green day/extra easy but to add 6 syns if not using cheese as a healthy extra.

It was so delicious (even if I forgot the eggs!! ) I had the left overs for lunch today, even the kids ate it (DS1 is a fussy soand so!)

Does anyone know the difference between Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus? I have Wii Fit, but it annoys me, the way you have to wait between exercises and it gives you the 'league tables!' a 30 minute workout can turn to 40 sometimes! I was also looking at the Wii Fitness Coach, is that any good??

bebejones · 06/01/2010 15:06

Afternoon all. We had about 6inches of snow overnight so had fun playing with DD in the garden this morning. Also walked up the road to Tesco & back which was interesting . Have taken all Xmas decorations down too. Don't think I have stopped all morning! That's gotta count as exersize right?!

Loving all the recipes too. Can't wait to try some!

My DH is also resistant on getting the Wii Fit. Think it's coz he would be too heavy to use it & he doesn't want to buy it just for me!

mum2OliNoandJess · 06/01/2010 15:13

Bebejones good for you on the go. My DH is nearly 18 stone and he is on it all right in fact i seem to be getting through to him that its both of us that need to improve our fitness and weight loss and he is really enjoying some of the games such as snowballing.

bebejones · 06/01/2010 15:17

DH is probably (almost certainly) over 20 he has sworn to lose 10 stone this year!

fatkatyslim · 06/01/2010 15:48

afternoon all,
i've decided walking in the snow is bloody hard work so therefore must be good for the thighs lol.

is anyone else feeling bloated? i have eaten loads of fruit and homemade veg soups but my belly is massive.can't remember if i felt like this last time i did ww.i've bought some activia yoghurts to try and sort it out.

sounds like everyone is doing really well, roll on monday.hopefully we will all show a great loss and this will spur us on even more

MrsMorgan · 06/01/2010 15:56

I am doing very badly so far. Must try alot harder.

Eddas · 06/01/2010 15:57

I was feeling bloated yesterday but TMI ALERT I have been pooing for England And weeing alot, I'm taking it as a good sign THink it's all the veg, my poor body's not used to veg

fatkatyslim · 06/01/2010 16:07

maybe thats it eddas, shall stay in tomorrow just in case

JODIEwantsanewname · 06/01/2010 16:10

Eddas - I was on the toilet alot yesterday too!

I'm at home today and have done OK food wise - bacon and eggs for breakfast, left over pie for lunch, just had a bag of French Fries and I'm making homemade sausages with Mash and home made gravy for tea, looks yummy, another SW 0 syn recipe!!!! .......But I've done terrible for drinks, I had one glass of water with luch, and it went down a treat, I obviously needed it, But DH is home (working from home today) and he keeps making me cups of coffee!!!!

Today is the first day I haven't felt hungry too, but I;ve been really busy, house is cleaned top to bottom (well not now DS1 is back from pre-school!!!) and all the decs down, washing done and put on radiators, I;ve not stopped for a sec, I've even walked to pre-school and back twice in the snow/ice (4 x 15 min walks!) I'm with fatkatyslim It must be really good for the old thighs!!!!!)

daisy5 · 06/01/2010 16:29

Hello - I'm a late starter. Two children 3yrs and 7 months, and a wedding in December....going to try cutting all deserts, sweets and cream sauces, only fruit for snacks, muesli and OJ for brekkie, lunch of wholegrain pitta with ham & salad - normal supper. Oh, lots of water too.

Around 5 o clock is definately my snack attack time! Icrave something sweet in the eve and had 2 xmas chocs (50 cals each so not too bad) last night but the afternoon snacking can really spiral if I start...and the kids are having yummy lasagna for tea and are sure to leave loads that I will want to eat...

Lovecat · 06/01/2010 16:37

Jodie, that homity pie sounds gorgeous... I'm going to try and make it substituting mashed cauli for the potatoes and leaving out the peas (too high in carbs for me unfortunately) - thanks for the recipe!

Have just got home (1.5 hours after I left!) and am about to start on the soup - never made it before, it's from my new Atkins cookbook but it looks like it's fairly low cal, so if it turns out all right I could post the recipe?

I've got the mother of all headaches, not sure if it's carb withdrawal or wearing a hat in this weather (hat-wearing always gives me a headache, for some strange reason!), but I shall go and drink some more water while I make the soup, hopefully that will help.

For those of us dieting while the rest of our family are not, do you have a problem keeping 'your' food away from them?

DH keeps eating my ham! I have pointed out he's doing Lighterlife and shouldn't be eating anything apart from his liquid creosote, but this has fallen on deaf ears... he reckons as long as he stays in ketosis with it he can have what he likes, which is fine in principal, but not when he goes into the fridge late at night and eats what I've put by for breakfast! He nearly ate my salmon that I'm having tonight before I threatened him with death and worse...(mutter mutter)

PhaseolusLunatus · 06/01/2010 17:08

Yes Jodie, the pie definitely sounds worth making! (So do the sausages - would you mind posting that as well some point please..? )

I'm going to look for the SW comfort food book this evening; salad in the snow is not so appealing!

I've been really thirsty today, btw, and obviously in the same 'adjustment' phase as Jodie and Eddas

gruber · 06/01/2010 17:23

I'm with jodie and eddas too!

Really pleased with myself for lunch, had 2 ww pittas (3p) with hummous and lots of cucumber, plus 2 plums and an activia yoghurt. Nothing since - big achievement for me as I do tend to snack loads.

Breakfast - porridge, cinnamon & raisins.

Have remembered malt loaf - low fat but high in carbs. Hopefully I will be over sweet cravings soon!

Dinner - pork stir fry with lots of vegetables and plain rice.

pizzaz - are you near me?? I'm in Southsea.

Cheepz · 06/01/2010 18:37

small plate - thats what i need - i have a major portion control issue! just had tea with ds, LF sausages x2, lf beans and mashed sweet potato, hoping early dinner will help too - cuppa soup later if i get hungry or yougurt with honey and dried fruit if its a sweet craving, i am on a mission

all those bloated by veg .. its the gas!!!!!

ABitOfPizzazz · 06/01/2010 18:51

gruber I am very close to you, I'm in Fareham. I used to live in Southsea.

ABitOfPizzazz · 06/01/2010 18:52
