Here we are, thanks Cyteen for the excellent title although it's slightly false advertising on my part

Sorry posted too early!

Hope you are all doing well.

I am fed up with not losing quickly so am thinking of doing the India Knight / Neris Thomas idiot-proof diet. Any takers to buddy up? I got the book in a second hand shop today & am starting tomorrow...

Body very beaten up today so only rowed 3 and ran 2, what is happening to me, all my energy gone! DP says rest over weekend & bounce in with renewed vigour on Monday but I don't want to waste my creche session tomorrow. Not going to doc as am too stingy to pay eu50.

LOTI am a shocking natural nibbler too, esp when on my own, never bother with actual meals unless I am thinking about it.

A marvellous plan to save 50 quid! You should work with figures...

From first read the book seems to be their cherry picking from the Atkins / South Beach / whatever diets, very low carb. There are meal plans / recipes for the first 2 weeks of induction. There's a website too - they started out at 16 and 16 and a half stone respectively and lost ten stone between them over a year. My exercise has been so good that I can only conclude my eating is still wrong in some way . Clutching at straws do you think??

VintageGardenia · 28/01/2010 20:13

I know I should be doing food focus too.

hotterpotter · 28/01/2010 21:44

VG maybe you are pg...

I have done 16 miles today, yay, in 39.43 so pretty chuffed with myself, and I ran nearly all the way to the station this morning. It's only about 600m but whereas I would previously fallen in a heap after a quarter of the distance, I was not really puffed out at all so fitness is better, even if weight loss has stalled. It was looking hopeful this morning but got weighed before my ride (I know, I know ) and am bak up more than 2 on this morning

Oh well, tomorrow will tell...

Albs I agree it doesn't have to be a gym class to get your ExerSazz in. An exercise dvd, stepping briskly on and off your bottom step while waving arms around, even dancing with DS, all would count as long as you get sweaty and raise your heartrate / get a bit puffed out. I do biking on an exercise bike 2 or 3 times a week, it's a chore doing it once DC are in bed but I feel good afterwards

I am the same again I have cycled 46 miles and swum a kilometre this week, had no crisps, only two reasonably small pieces of cake and 4 or 5 slices of bread and two bottles of wine

Think DH must be dribbling melted butter in my mouth while I am asleep

Agree Sazz it is getting boring, I have been here or hereabouts for four fricking months.

Come on VG spill a bit of the diet you're going on, see if it sounds doable

Hmmmmm I'm afraid I can't add much here. Half a pound off, if you catch the scales on the right crack, but if you move them and bend your knees, quarter of a pound (digital scales, not desperate eyes).

I feel similar hots - doing my exerSazz, drinking the agua, etc, and I thought last week was going to be the stealth week.

Anyway - India and Neris for me for a bit, they swear by it. Now the thing is it's terrifically off-putting because while there's no carb in it (none at all for 2 weeks, then tiny traces afterwards) there is fat - cream, butter, cheese - and that does make me uncomfortable. They say combining fat & protein and leaving out carbs is the trick to it.

Breakfast today would be scrambled eggs and bacon, lunch steak au poivre, supper tarragon chicken with cauliflower mash. That's three meat meals - all without carb - I couldn't eat meat three times a day normally BUT I have decided to try this for a month and see how I get on. India was overweight for ten years, creeping up and creeping up, and Neris was a serial dieter - Slimfast, WW, bootcamp, you name it.

The sad thing is the person who had the book before me has written all these really self-crucifying things in the margins "eat to punish myself - so TRUE" and stuff like that, it's really devastating reading. India & Neris have a light touch though.

VintageGardenia · 29/01/2010 09:55

hots I have registered on pig2twig.com and if you want to do the same you will see what the diet is about without having to buy the book. Or you might be able to get it out of the library?

hotterpotter · 29/01/2010 11:15

Steak au poivre for lunch also [yummy]

Don't think I could go for such extreme changes to my diet, although will see how you get on VG and may change my mind in a few weeks . Is it bad that one of the reasons I would run for the hills back away gently is the no alcohol bit? I only drink 2 nights a week but boy do I enjoy it Maybe a pregnancy is what I need to cut out booze...

I have registered on the site though, and thought the bit about why the scales lie was pretty interesting. Only trouble is my trousers not really getting any slacker either.

harrumph. 2 weeks since last weight. back at weight from 2 weeks ago. I guess that this is a good thing.

Food log might be a good idea. Will think about it.

Although pork is a food to recommend here in Argentina at the moment

hotterpotter · 29/01/2010 11:51

LOL lwfh I saw that story this morning

Sorry to hear no progress for you either. Sounds like there is a curse on the HotMamas... ...

Noticed a leaflet in Tesco this morning, seems they do a 7 day bootcamp although at prices from £799 I may give it a miss...

Off swimming in a minute

VintageGardenia · 29/01/2010 15:53

Yes I don't know about being a veggie on it, they do recommend tofu, but not things like lentils/risotto/pasta-y that you would traditionally think of. You couldn't live on omelettes etc.
