Here we are, thanks Cyteen for the excellent title although it's slightly false advertising on my part

I have been for a very short walk with the dogs involving one of those ballthrower things that mean you don't have to move while the dogs race around . Also in a fit of pique I have eaten two bags of yoghurt raisins meant for ds2 and a packet of crisps which I bought at a petrol station AND a bacon sandwich made by dp when I got home. Bad news all round I fear.

I did read the diet & fitness booklet that came with the Sunday Telegraph though . Will pass on any good recipes.

Well my snippiness and the extra two pounds may be explained by the fact I got my period today, after 22 fecking days I used to be regularly 28-29 days before, 22 is just not on, grrr

Sazz I found that once I started I couldn't stop being bad, I guess as you knew there was to be feasting for your birthday your body just thought 'oh feck it' and made you shovel in the good naughty stuff

Loti that is a bugger but I would deffo blame water retention of some form or another. If you think there are 3500 calories in a pound of fat, that would mean you had stuffed in an extra 14 THOUSAND calories for this to be real gain. That's a lot of Pringles

OK doing better since Friday - DH around this w/e so less time out and about on my own eating junk food.

Monday now.

Long walk with the buggy this morning, DS now asleep, waiting for DD to drop off before I do some tidying.

VG thanks for the post birth encouragment! Life is a bit up and down, so it's also nice to think that I am trying to do something about the fact that I want to lose weight.

Targets this week (unless eating with DH):

No chocolate frim kioscos
No cake from bakeries

Walk every morning before DS's first nap

Order Salad if eating out with my PIL (without DH)

VintageGardenia · 11/01/2010 13:53

Well got to the gym this morning with both ds's but only able to have a quick splash round with ds1 in the pool, no run yet. I know what you mean Sazz about other exercise e.g. shovelling, walking, etc not feeling the same - I feel better if I do all that stuff BUT I need to be moving properly to feel right. In fact I am quite glad I seem to have developed a slight exercise dependency. (Slight, I emphasise...)

I have my period and feel lousy with it so perhaps I'll wash away my bad mood & surplus flesh with a few litres of water over the next few days .

I will say on the positive side that running is great for the old legs, they are deffo more toned & muscular (they have always been the ONLY part of my body ever to show muscle). Sadly is the upper body that needs weight loss!

Sorry hots and loti that you find yourselves off target at the moment. Sazz I'm holding off till official Friday weigh in as well.

Up & at em lassies.

Eased myself back into ExerSazzing with 12 miles in 31 minutes, not too bad and will build myself back up to my previous 16 miles over the next couple of weeks. Missed walking to nursery and back today but hauled a trolley round Asda so that's used a few different muscles

well done on the exersazz ladies.. got body balance and legs, bums and tums booked for today.. fingers crossed i make it!!

got a 30th birhday to go to at the end of the month.. fancy dress 70's style.. all the dresses i have seen would barely cover your bum!!! so i have a big goal to try and get rid of this +8lbs before then.. and no more weighing for me til fri.. too depressing!

dizzydixies · 12/01/2010 11:03

am not weighing till Fri either

luckoftheirish · 12/01/2010 11:36

well i am very proud of myself ... got dd2 to cm and made it to the gym!! i was a bit early for body balance so decided to do an express step class followed by an all over body workout!!! cannot move now but 1 exersazz completed!!!

oopsandbabycoconut · 12/01/2010 11:48

Sazz - please be careful on the powerplate with your knee - It can aggravate injuries. I got a long lecture on it from my personal trainer (boo hoo I miss him).

VintageGardenia · 12/01/2010 12:37

Well done on getting back in the saddle hotser & on the class loti! Sound v tiring...

Sazz v sorry to hear about your twingeing knee . You are lucky you are a good swimmer so have an alternative. If any bit of my bashed old body gives up the ghost on running I can't think what I would do instead. I would be a bit wary of the powerplate as well if it is what I think it is, does it sort of mimic an inline skating movement? That diagonal movement could (I imagine) be a strain on a knee.

Does anyone have any upper body exercise they can recommend? Pilates I suppose.

I got to the gym this morning & ran 6.3K but then a creche lady came to get me & said ds2 was upset so I got him & left. Unusual for him to be upset - hasn't been since he settled in. They said either teeth, or fact that the creche is full again after a quiet Christmas. Don't know. Poor poppet though. Thinking of starting taking him swimming again, the pool there is lovely and warm.

feel so much better after yesterdays exercise so want to continue today!!!

hotterpotter · 13/01/2010 08:28

Hello lovelies

Just checking on to keep my brain in HotMama mode. Was good with food yesterday, the only extra was two liquorice allsorts, I even walked down the pastries aisle at Sainsbos without breaking down and filling my basket with croissants. No exercise though due to late-to-bed DC and a splitting headache. They will be in bed by 7.15 tonight though so I can do some biking...

Hope you get to do your stuff today Loti!

Hum. Sazzles, good question about why I can eat unhealthily when DH is around.

During the week we only really ever see each other at home, and I never have chocolate or cake in the house (it just gets eaten if I do) and so my problem at the moment is picking up something unhealthy when I am out and about with the buggy.

But at the weekend we will sometimes eat nice things (but I am still less likely to buy chocolate if I am out and about with him) and I'm not sure that I want to stop doing this all together ...

How does everyone else manage the occasional unhealthy food?

Good walks with the buggy the last couple of days. Not such a healthy breakfast this morning, but was up at midnight and from 3-5am during the night which was exceptionally rubbish. Fruit consumption up as I still want to eat nice snack things, fortunately we have all the nice summer fruit in at the moment, the end of the strawberries, blueberries, peaches.

So Friday is the weigh in day, and then report gain or loss in pounds? OK. Off to note an accurate baseline. Am very much looking forward to clothes shopping in July, was thinking about it today, so hopefully will have some good news to report by then.

lwfhthevampireslayer · 13/01/2010 14:20

oh and is coffee considered a good or bad thing - I am less likely to have a snack if I have a cup of coffee on the go, but I guess that it is not the healthiest.
