Anyone interested in creating a mini diet group. Could have a slimmer of the week etc. I would create a spreadsheet and keep track. You can disclose weight or just what you lost. I am 12 stone 7lbs and need to loose 3 - 3 1/2 stone.

Great idea!

Please may I join? Hope kilos OK (live abroad)?

I'm 75.3kg (11st 12lb) - want to get to 65kg initially

and then if possible after that, 63kg (9st 13lb)

Aiming to lose 0.5 kg per week (hopefully realistic)

According to Food Focus website, this will take me until 12 May 2010 to achieve

so had better start today !!!

Finding it very tough going at the moment as seem to be experiencing that autumnal thing of wanted to load up with carbs and hibernates ... so this thread has come along at exactly the right time

StillCounting · 25/11/2009 13:44

sorry - load up with carbs and

hibernate (without the s)

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 25/11/2009 13:46

Sounds good - this will keep my on track till Christmas. I started my pre-Christmas diet nearly three weeks ago (weigh in tomorrow) and lost 7lbs in the first two weeks. Will post my new weight tomorrow.

mummymels · 25/11/2009 14:35

That's a great idea. Can I join you please? I am now 12 stone 12 lbs but I started off at 14 stone 7 weeks ago. I have lost 26lbs so far and am doing Go Lower. I'd like to get down to about 10 stone.

weekary · 25/11/2009 18:20

Great I will create a spreadsheet with all info and we can take it from there. If anyone has any recipies etc let's share. Here's one to start with which I love. It is a weight watchers one

Brocoli and Spinach Soup

This has 5 points.

1 Onion cooked in 1 tsbp olive oil
2 225g well washed spinach (I use frozen tastes just as good_
3 175g brocoli (again I use frozen)
4 1 pint veg stock
5 Cook althogether for 20 mins
6 Blend with 200g low fat soft cheese (with or without garlic and herbs) and 600ml skimmed or semi skimmed milk.

  1. Points value allows for 1 med wholemeal roll per person.

Recipe says it serves 4 but I think it does 8 as I always seem to have too much.

Yes please! I'm a stonking 12st 7lbs, despite DH leaving me 2 months ago! Where is my heartbreak weightloss? Am definitely on for this. Bought mini trampoline to bounce on watching TV but all it's used for is to help DS1 boing across into the kitchen.

What is Go Lower, mummymels? You've lost loads!! Well done!

itshouldntbethishard · 25/11/2009 18:33

You can count me in weekary
I am 12 st 7 and need to lose 2 stone or so
But I would love to lose a bit by xmas if I can.

BornAgain · 25/11/2009 18:36

Something interesting I read... you can lose just under half a pound a week without changing (slowing down) your metabolism. Slow and steady ensures the weight stays off.. I´ve gradually and slowly slowly lost 12 pounds in the last year with no real effort. Secret? Not really eating or drinking anything after my evening meal and the WiiFit step machine for half an hour whilst watching TV. Nothing else really.

Just thought I´d share that with you.

weekary · 25/11/2009 18:42

If anyone wants a copy of the spreadsheet let me know your email address I can forward it onto you and send updates weekly.

Goodluck. Will we say thursday as our official weigh in. So Ladyg to give me weight tomorrow and the rest will give me new weights next week. Is that ok.

Kary

Thank you very much Kary - much appreciated - sounds great

Please send spreadsheet to:

hellibore ninety eight at hotmail dot com

no spaces, all lower case, ninety-eight written as number

Thanks alot!

That is interesting BornAgain - it just shows how small changes can be really effective - that has certainly given me hope!! (And particularly appropriate because my worst "nibbling" moments are in front of tv in the evening ....)

Well done on your weight loss and to, Mummymels and LadyGlencoraP who are already on track ....

Kary, Beautiful (sorry to hear about your dh) Itshouldn'tbethishard - we'll get there!!

I guess my tip would be drinking hot water in the winter (not as bad as it sounds once you get used to it and a good calorie saver if you take sugar in coffee and tea as I do).

In the summer I drink Sassy water recipe here

weekary · 25/11/2009 22:23

Just back from a Salsa aerobics class. Feel great this could be the start of something good. Now all I need to think about is more water less junk food. Good luck all this week look forward to the results next week.

The Sassy water sounds lovely. Will def give it a try

Slimmer of the week will be announced around 10pm on a Thursday to give everyone a chance to weigh themselves alternatively if people would prefer the announcement in the morning pls let me know.

We will all do well I can feel it in my bones.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 26/11/2009 16:39

Lost 2lb this week I can't bring myself to give my total weight so am just going to post my loss every week. Christmas Eve is 4 weeks today and my goal is to have lost another 10lb by then (have lost 9 in the past three weeks).
Well done on the Salsa class Kary. I need to organise some exercise for myself.

mummymels · 26/11/2009 18:43

weekary - that soup sounds lovely. At the moment I only have the Go Lower meals but I think at some point I can make my own meals as long as they keep to the diet if that makes sense. I will ask at my next call when I can start that and what I can have.

beautiful - I'm sorry to hear about what a hard time you have been through lately. I hope you are coping ok. Go Lower is a diet where they deliver the food to your house which I love as I don't have to worry about what food to cook etc. and you can have treats (even chocolate!). You loose quite a bit of weight as your body goes in to ketotis.

bornagain - that sounds a great way of losing weight.

stillcounting - sassywater sounds lovely. I quite often drink hot water with just a slice of lemon in it.

ladyglencorapalliser - sounds like you are right on track.

StillCounting · 27/11/2009 16:05

Well done on your weight loss this week LadyGP that's brilliant! Ditto re: exercise ...

Mummymels - just looked at the Go Lower website and it looks very good althought the ketosis sounds a bit scary!! Live abroad so cannot get it here but has given me an idea about preparing my own meals separately from those of the family as dh big eater and I succumb too easily (sigh)

I'll be frank - I'm really struggling this week - it's dark, cold, raining and all I want to do is chomp through a large chocolate brownie!!!

How is everyone else getting on?

em83 · 27/11/2009 21:08

is it too late to join
i start a new diet every monday an by 11am iv blown it
i am far too heavy at 12st9 for my little 5ft2 frame [double blush lol]
really need a kick up the arse lot of encouragement to get motivated!

mummymels · 27/11/2009 22:05

stillcounting - the ketosis does sound a bit scary to start with but honestly once you get into it it's fine. That sounds a good idea making your own meals if you have the time. It is hard when you have to make different things for all the family isn't it. I agree it can be hard in this cold weather when you want comfort food. So far I am still not feeling hungry so it's not too bad.

Hi em83 - lol on starting new diets every week. Which ones have you tried?

ja9 · 27/11/2009 22:08

i'd like to join

but not tonight

tonight i'm working my way through all the food in the kitchen

perhaps see you tomortow

mummymels · 27/11/2009 22:19

lol ja9, enjoy it!

em83 · 28/11/2009 08:40

well i devised my own diet a last year based on 1200 cals per day, lost about 1stone in 2month !!! but craved the cals lol
done slimming world and weight watchers prior to that, found slimming world the best as lost more but then got pregnant and had 2 girls in just over a year so finding it hard now to lose the weight ....
bought the alli tablets few month ago and lost 11lb in 3 weeks
but couldnt really afford to keep buying them
think from monday i am going to do slimming world wat about u ?

weekary · 29/11/2009 18:06

Ha ha you are all so funny. Not to late to join anyone can join at anytime. I am also 5ft 2 so my weight and frame dont go although mine is mainly in my thighs arghh. had the munchies at 130am this morning chips and cheese that's what alchol does although I have been good otherwise. keep on going it's good fun.

OP posts:
mummymels · 30/11/2009 21:32

em83 - I see what you mean about trying lots of different diets. You have done well at losing weight in the past though so I am sure you will do well this time too. I am doing Go Lower.

weekary - Oh dear on the munchies. Yes alcohol to blame.

I had weigh in today. I only lost 2lbs this week which is disappointing but on the plus side that makes it exactly 2 stone altogether now so I am pleased about that.

tumshe · 30/11/2009 21:39

I'd like to join you all. I have went from 14 stone to 11 stone 3 with Scottish Slimmers. This took me from Jan to June I had more or less stayed within a pound or two of this weight since June. However this morning I weighed in at 11 stone 11 (naked so I would dearly love to lose the extra I have gained.

Have had a good day today and made sure I had my 5 a day which is something I had been neglecting.

good luck to everyone

em83 · 30/11/2009 22:20

hi all, 1st day back on slimming worl today its going well
however i have had quie a lot of trips to the toilet {wees} must be the fluid i hope lol x

mummymels · 01/12/2009 22:48

Hi tumshe, well done on your original weight loss. At least you have less to lose this time so it will be a breeze for you but good luck with it.

em83 - good luck with slimming world.

weekary · 02/12/2009 18:47

Well done Mummymels on your loss. Em83 and tumshe I'll add you in from next week. Starting a cold so no excercise for me tonight. Just a nice soak in the bath.
