I think each individual is different.

I, for instance, would struggle to do without syns earlier in the week or later in the week (WI Wednesday) if I used all my syns at the weekend. But I know others (my sister is one) who can do each day without syns, have wine & a chinese/pizza at the weekend, have dessert with Sunday dinner & still manage to lose weight! So I suppose it depends how tight you actually are with yourself on the no syn days

Your beef hot pot sounds lovely!

I had a chinese take away last night too, boiled rice (free) chicken (I counted this as my HEB as I just had one) with vegetables in a chilli/garlic sauce. I counted 10 syns for the sauce but I only ate half the dish, so feel safe enough.

Dh is cooking breakfast/brunch at the minute - I'm on an EE day so having poached eggs, bacon and a HEB of w/meal toast.

Circes · 04/10/2009 14:45

If you're getting chow mein from the chinese takeaway I would recommend weighing it when it arrives. It might sound a bit anal I know but someone on another board did this and it weighed nearly 700g, which would make the syn value a lot higher than the figure quoted in the syn directory.

lechuga · 04/10/2009 20:40

thanks Circes, I love Philly. Have just discovered Asda Chickpea dahl-omg it's gorgeous if you need a curry fix and syn free on green. I like it with rice, it's alos great for the days when you can't be bothered chopping...

kid · 04/10/2009 21:39

I don't shop in Asda often, but I must remember to check for these next time I am there.
Surely other supermarkets must sell an equal version to this which is also syn free (hope so anyway)

kid · 05/10/2009 07:15

2lb loss for me. I was hoping for more but am happy with that.

GrimRIAper · 05/10/2009 09:25

bookmarking.

luch at Dsis's yesterday. I still don't feel the need to eat anything, but it was delicious.

lechuga · 05/10/2009 17:25

Kid-Morrisons sell a version of chickpea deal-the brand is called Sundar I think. It's not as nice as the Asda own brand version but still syn free

GrimRIAper · 05/10/2009 17:28

how many suns in Stagg Veggie Chilli? (I bought that from Tesco in the absence of an ASDA).

I still feel really fat and bloated from lunch out yesterday, went shopping today with SW on my mind, but have another days worth of stuff that didn't get eaten at the weekend to "dispose of" first. I'll be glad when it's gone TBH.

GrimRIAper · 05/10/2009 17:31

syns

MamaG · 05/10/2009 18:44

stumbled across this today

Circes · 05/10/2009 19:19

Stagg Vegetable Chilli
3 syns on green/EE
10 syns on red

GrimRIAper · 05/10/2009 22:18

thanks Circes (more than I was hoping. Hope it's tasty) and MamaG

could someone link the recipes thread to here for me too, thanks

tullytwo · 06/10/2009 15:08

Had a 2lb loss after all my worrying! Thats 2 stone 9lbs since May-about a quarter of the way there now!

Am going to try and stay relatively syn free this week to see if I can speed the loss up a bit in time for christmas as I plan to relax a bit then!

AuntieMaggie · 06/10/2009 20:09

don't know of an equivalent to the asda chickpea dhal. i agree it is gorgeous - i take it to work and have it on it's own or with some creme fraiche.

a lot of the tinned veg curries/chillis are loaded with syns not sure why if they can make the dhal so gorgeous!

sowhatis · 07/10/2009 09:08

I lost 6lb this week. i am loving this diet!!!! hope you are all doing well xxx

GrimRIAper · 07/10/2009 10:10

well done sowhat! brilliant.

I weighed in this morning, I think it is 2 weeks at least since my last weigh-in, and have gained 3lb, but I know why (lack of effort), and if I can manage a good wekk it'll be gone!

current plan - one day at a time, and get to the weekend

quorn sausage casserole for tea

StrawberriesandCherries · 07/10/2009 10:12

That's great sowhat, well done!!

2 weeks for me too Grm, am dreading todays weigh in, my scales say I have put on a bit too so am hoping if am good it wont be tooooo painful!

GrimRIAper · 07/10/2009 10:16

Ria BTW (halloween name)

just put my weight in the SW website, and the blue line for predicted loss has gone from my graph! Is that because I've gained?

good luck SandC

pinotmonster · 07/10/2009 15:56

Hello I have just started this and apologies if this has been answered but are there any other free flavoured yoghurts apart from Mullerlight???

I only joined SW yesterday and it looks confusing!!! Would you still lose weight if you did all red days or all green for example??

PurlyQueen · 07/10/2009 18:40

Hi Pinotmonster.

Welcome!

You will still lose weight if you stick to green or red days.

I like the weightwatchers fat free yoghurts - the millerlight ones have too much sweeteners in them for me!

lydiane · 07/10/2009 20:30

hi guys
I forgot to get the 'word of the week' to log on. does anybody know it? I know last week was salsa.
thanks

pinotmonster · 07/10/2009 20:49

I have done a different diet club previous to this and never done SW world before - I can't believe how much free food there is, can you really eat as much fat free yog, eggs, fruit and veg as you want?????????

GrimRIAper · 07/10/2009 21:36

OK, I've got through day 1. Haven't actually had enough free food TBH, and have just had to have a banana sandwich and a glass of milk as I had - fruit for breakfast (never got round to having toast as planned when I got in from the school run), noodles for lunch, and a big plate of quorn sausage and bean casserole with mash and veggies for tea. Am going to spend my syns on a couple of small glasses of wine (as there's a bottle in the fridge needs finishing) and a small handful of crisps. Tomorrow I will have my HEs. I am a bit peckish now, but feel better than I've felt since before the weekend!

StrawberriesandCherries · 07/10/2009 23:46

Lydiane the word this week is skate.

Pinot - yes those are some of the free things. It is quite amazing and Shape yoghurts are soooo filling and you can have any amount of them. If i wasnt such a piggy i could live on just the free foods- i may try that for the next 2 or 3 days and save my syns for a saturday night splurge!!

I have gained a pound so not as bad as it could of been. Am hoping to get back on track now though

ConnieComplaint · 08/10/2009 22:14

Hi everyone - well done on all those losses! 6lb - wow! fabby

Oh Ria - I wish I had my HEs left to eat at bed time... I'm sitting here sucking the juice out of an orange and wishing it was dairy milk...

Anyway, lost 1lb last night, just 0.5lb away from my 2stone!! grrr - I had been really good! Then we went to my mum's house cos it was her birthday & I had cake, buns etc... ni crisps though but right now I fancy some! (also had chips on way home, but it was my WI day & I'm usually a little naughty...)

Have had a good day today though & plan a good wknd to have the 0.5lb off.
