Anyone want to join me? DD is nearly 11 weeks old and have lost precisely NOTHING since a week after she was born - so am still a stone heavier than I was pre PG.

Seeing as I was 2 stone heavier post DS (3), and I could have done with losing some before I got PG with him, I reckon I need to lose 4 (OMG, 4) stone.

Have set a start date of Sunday and am hoping low GI will be the way forward....

Anyone want to hand hold, share tips and help me stay away from the biscuit tin?

Oh you're all being soo good - have had 3 weeks of visiting and visitors and DD is totally out of her routine so impossible to put down during the day...and somehow that's translating into hitting the biscuit tin...

Sobbing baby now...better go and check

Hi everyone, well done Gilyan on your loss! No I'm not near my goal yet Jigglypiggly, I'm still 12st 7lbs so got about 2 1/2 stone to go. But have been speaking to my health visitor today as since I had my first period at 8 weeks post-birth it has only stopped for a few days and then started again. I've been bleeding on and off for 5 weeks, with the longest bleed lasting 18 days. It means that I'm retaining water all the time and feel constipated. They don't know if I'll have to have a d&c or if its my pill. Feel like poo and always dizzy and having headaches even though I'm eating well with plenty of calories, so maybe anaemic aswell. Hope to get it sorted on 26th when I visit my GP. Think I have lost 3lbs this week though when the bleeding stopped for a few days.

Gillyan · 18/08/2009 08:56

Thanks guys

Didn't start the week well, I went to a mexican rest yesterday with my frined and we ordered from the lunch menu but it's defo not on the plan, didn't eat too much tho. Have to be back on it this wk!

sarahken hope the docs can tell u whats going on!

JigglyPiggy · 18/08/2009 11:45

morning

its always hard when you are super busy sparky especially when it throws your routine out. Can you try to replace the biscuits with something less damaging? so you can still snack but a be a bit more healthy? I stock up on Alpen light bars, ryvita minis and make a cous cous cake so i can nibble!

Oh sarahken you really are doing fantastic given what else is going on. I can sympathise as for quite a few weeks post birth i had complications with very heavy bleeds coming and going and bad stomach pain. I was also on iron tablets that made my tummy worse. I ended up back in hospital as i passed a huge mass (sorry if tmi) but then the bleeding stopped completely and just had to go on antibiotics.

Can you check your notes to see if placenta and membranes were marked as complete? Mine stated that membranes were but no one seemed to link this to my symptoms until i ended up back in hospital!

Weigh in tonight and then im meeting friends for dinner so I will be having something naughty tonight

JigglyPiggy · 19/08/2009 11:10

4.5lb!!!

Ive lost over and above my first 10% so onwards to the next 10%

Can you tell im happy?

Just wish I could get back into my old clothes now. Was trying stuff on before going out last night and found a dress DH got me pre pregnancy. I have never worn it out and he got it in a sz16 but at the time i had to take it back and get a sz14 so it will be even longer before it fits now!

I have it hung up on display in the bedroom as a reminder that I want to be in it before the end of the year. I may even hang it on the fridge in the evenings when DH is at work!

Hope everyones having a good week and enjoying the lovely weather.

sarahken · 19/08/2009 13:46

Fantastic Jigglypiggly your well on your way now.

Went to weight watchers this morning and have lost 5lbs which means I got my 4th Silver seven (so 2 stone loss at weight watchers) and 3st 8lbs lost in total. I'm really pleased as the last few weeks I've been so bloated and constipated and only lost 1 1/2lbs between the previous 2 weeks. The 5lb loss means that on average I have lost 2lb a week for the last 3 weeks. Must have been all the crap coming back out, so I'm back on track as want to get to my goal for New Years Eve as I'm going to visit my auntie in New York and going to go on a massive shopping spree. So I have 19 weeks to lose 2st 1 lb (29lbs)- so 1.5lb a week which is achievable if I keep focused!

sarahken · 19/08/2009 13:49

oh forgot to say jigglypiggly I bought a lovely new dress in debenhams sale for a friends wedding night do which is in 4 weeks. Its a size 14 as they didnt have a 16, but I can just get in it and fastened and it doesnt look too tight, but feels a little bit tight around the bust. Hoping to lose 7lbs by then so it will fit perfect, I look at it every morning when I go in my wardrobe to focus me for the day lovely weather???? not here so dark and muggy

Gillyan · 19/08/2009 15:59

Well done sarahken and jiggly Thats ace!!!

I'm not having a good wk, seem to of lost my motivation and keep cheating slighty, nothing too bad justthe odd biccy or like today I've made Fifi cakes with DD1 and eaten 2 of them. I've had 2 special k bars too!! Don't know whats up with me, any advice??

Misspaella · 19/08/2009 19:19

Congrats on the weightloss ladies...I've put on. I am hoping it is muscle since I have been back to the gym.

Oh and to top it off, I did spin last night and the instructor as when the baby was due!!!

JigglyPiggy · 19/08/2009 19:34

Misspaella thats so rude! i hate to say it but was it a man? only ask this as i bumped into a work colleague a few weeks after having DS and he asked in front of a shop full of people how long i had left and i had to say I had ds weeks ago

I shall be an absolute knockout by the end of my maternity leave so there will no doubt about my pregnancy status

Well done sarahken, am so ahopping in new york at new years! Sounds like a fab goal to aim for and there is nothing stopping you getting there.

My next goal is the end of october. We are planning a night away just me and DH for my birthday. I have the dress, heels and night out planned i just need the body to go with it

Gillyan whats working for me at the moment is setting all these little targets and goals. I also stop and question myself each time i reach for food 'do i really want this, am i hungry if so what's better to eat, do i want to eat that or fit in my dress?' I kid you not I am doing this every single time I go to eat and its working. (i dont say it out loud though as im not a complete loon yet)

Misspaella · 19/08/2009 22:02

Jiggly of course it was a man - actually a young man so all is forgiven. LOL.

I like the idea of little goals and asking yourself do you really need that. When I had DD 2 yrs ago I was advised by the gym instructor to drink some water when I got peckish. Apparently our body sometimes confuses thirst with being hungry. If not, reach for the Ryvita she said and not the biscuits.

Gillyan · 20/08/2009 10:12

jiggly yeah that sounds good. I weighed myself last night anyway and have lost the lb I put back on so I'm still 5lbs down! Yey.

had a bad day yesterday but feel back to normal today. Still wiating for my first period and keep getting horrid PMT but then nothing, that always makes me want to eat. I eat like a horse a day or so before I am due on.

Off to go and do my exercise bike, my Mum has just taken DD1 for the day and baby asleep so here goes....

Harimosmummy · 21/08/2009 12:06

Hey, just a quickie from me... Weigh in day agian and I'm seriously gutted. I'm 10st 11lbs today, which is 2lbs down, but I've been eating really healthily, not dieting as such, as I'm still breastfeeding (but everyone said I'd lose weight really quickly if I did that ) and exercising as much as I can (basically only walking as I had a CS 3 weeks ago)

I just don't know what I can do to lose weight... I have my 6 week check up on 11st September, so that should give me the all clear to do more exercise (though exactly when I will find the time and / or energy with 2 kids is beyond me!!!)

Maybe I'm just being totally unrealistic, but I SOOOOO want to feel thin again and be able to get even slightly enthusiastic about buying clothes

Sorry for depressive post. HM x

Harimosmummy · 21/08/2009 12:43

Thankyou, Ruby... I am eating quite large portions, but feel I have to as (i) I need to feed DD and (ii) I'm starving and getting by on about 3 hours sleep a night.

I'm going to make a chart (just done that) which puts me at my target weight on 20th November.

That's losing 1-2 per week. That's pretty realistic, isn't it? And it stops me exapecting to lose 1/2 stone each week (which believe me, I feel I should have lost!!!)

Mother Nature is one tough old bird!!

JigglyPiggy · 21/08/2009 13:31

HM i know exactly how you feel but please don't worry you will get there. Chart sounds good.

If it makes you feel any better I can only break down my goal weight into chunks of 10%! I have lost the first 10% (did I mention that ) and I am now aiming for the next 10% which is 21lbs. I want to hit this tareget at the end of october so 2lb a week is all i am aiming for.

Please don't be too hard on yourself. I have now also started counselling and I am learning to focus on the positives. I can and will do this, it will take time but its not a race.

Please repeat this back to me when I am having a bad day!

Gillyan · 21/08/2009 19:51

harimosmummy Yeah don't feel bad at all, you want to lose weight slowly and steadily then it will stay off. Please don't feel bad. Don't rush yourself you've just had a baby, you are aloud to be fat for a bit

I'm still sticking to my diet but I'm going camping for 5 days next week and I am so just going to eat tinned stuff with a side order of crap! I suppose at least if I do put weight on it's not too bad cos at least I've lost some so far, if that makes sense.

Managed to do another 10k ride onmy exercise bike yesterday and today been walking round the huge park for 2 hrs and done lots of housework.

Hope you are all ok xx

JigglyPiggy · 25/08/2009 14:22

hi everyone,

hope you are all busy running around after all those lovely babies!

weigh in for me tonight. I can now see a change in my shape but not sure if I have lost anything this week.

Feeling positive still. I have been out a couple of times and although not strictly stuck to the diet I have been happy enough to skip pudding and avoid the wine

I am thinking of trying out my paul mckenna cd again aswell to see if that helps with portion control.

Gillyan · 27/08/2009 00:02

Hi all.

Managed to lose 8lbs over 3 weeks so well happy. jiggly I've had a few slpis too so really pleased it's still ocming off. Off camping tomorrow for a wk so I'm sure I'll put some back on but never mind!

JigglyPiggy · 27/08/2009 09:17

hi everyone

had a small gain this week but i have been out lots so can't complain.

what i do find is i am actually feeling slimmer this week having gained weight than i did last week when i lost loads!!

really must increase the activity consistently as I think that is the key here as diet wise I am doing fine.

hopefully once school starts I can walk each day providing DD doesnt complain too much.

Hope the weather stays nice for your camping trip gillyan

mavornia · 28/08/2009 01:20

hello ladies, can I squeeze in too?

I gave birth to second ds on 15th July and I didn't put on that much in this pregnancy but I was already about 3 stone overweight from ds1 who is now 2 and a half.

I must be almost 16 stone at the minute - would like to be about 12 stone. I'm very tall and can get away with carrying some extra weight but certainly not this amount

It feels like forever since I was able to wear the clothes I like and I just find shopping for new clothes to fit my current size too depressing

I went to the gym tonight and I'm going to try and keep at it

also have Davina's dvd but never got round to doing it - encouraged that you've done it, Gillyan, will try to do it this week

I'm flying back to Egypt in 2 weeks and we'll be having ds2 christened there. In-laws will be inviting almost 200 people and there'll be an official photographer and camera crew - videos will then be played repeatedly to the world and his wife (honestly - mother-in-law whips them out at every opportunity!). I find these affairs very stressful in any event but I'm just dreading everyone commenting on my weight like they did last time and looking like an absolute heffer on the video.

It can be depressing when you have a large amount to loose but this thread is very encouraging - I'll try to seek comfort here rather than in a bag of maltesers and a hot & spicy chow mein

sarahken · 28/08/2009 21:20

hi everyone, didnt go to WW this week as on my period again! and seem to be retaining alot of fluid. I had been good all week and knew I should have lost something, but on my scales I had out on a 1lb so didnt see in the point in going. I have had 2 days off dieting and bombed the gym off all this week. Need to get back on track. Had a happy meal today and a healthy tea, but just craving sweet things so much. I'm now 12st 4lbs (so 2lb heavier than last week). Going to knuckle down from tomorrow and hopefully be back on track by Wednesday but have a 3 course sunday lunch at a resturant so I'm not that hopeful. Hope everyone else is sticking to it and getting results

mathanxiety · 30/08/2009 03:32

morning all

I so wish i could walk for an hour with DS in a the pram but its what to do with a 4yr old who hates walking?!

Hi mavornia mmmm maltesers! i know what you mean about the clothes thing but i am trying to get passed that by going shopping more! It sounds crazy but i am in the frame of mind that having nothing to wear is making me miserable - clothes are either too big or too small (yet) so I want to feel good about myself so I have restocked the wardrobe with clothes that fit and I have actually tried them on first

For years I have been hung up on what size the clothes im wearing are but i now realise that noone else knows what that number is and i can cut the label out if its too depressing!

sarahken are the sweet cravings due to your period? I go mad for chocolate at that time but I am now allowing myself to have an extra curly wurly if i need it at that time.

ActivityApple I have a wii fit and do enjoy it but its like all exercise equipment you have to be motivated to use it each day!

I am hoping to join the gym this week as I have been referred by the GP. Hopefully we can build this into our regular family time so i can get to the gym while DH occupies the monsters and then we do something together.

Hope everyone else is doing ok and enjoying the long weekend
