Anyone want to join me? DD is nearly 11 weeks old and have lost precisely NOTHING since a week after she was born - so am still a stone heavier than I was pre PG.

Seeing as I was 2 stone heavier post DS (3), and I could have done with losing some before I got PG with him, I reckon I need to lose 4 (OMG, 4) stone.

Have set a start date of Sunday and am hoping low GI will be the way forward....

Anyone want to hand hold, share tips and help me stay away from the biscuit tin?

congratulations Haribosmummy, enjoy these first few weeks as you do tend to keep losing weight for a few weeks naturally without trying, just relax and put your feet up I lost 8lbs in the first few days, then 21 lbs by 14 days still ate take-away most nights

JigglyPiggy · 01/08/2009 11:17

at the takeaways!
wish i had that kind of metabolism as i only have to think about takeaways and i gain 2lbs!!

pizza was eaten in our house last night but for once i managed to resist and stuck with pasta!

Its a grey rainy day again here so i was wondering how the exercise DVD's are going sarahken? Im thinking of either getting a DVD or something new to go with the Wii as getting bored with the wii fit on its own.

how you doing sparky?

Gillyan · 01/08/2009 19:34

Hello

I had my 2nd baby girl 6 wks ago this Monday and therefore the 'diet' begins this Monday.

I have a stone of baby weight to lose ( have lost 2 stone without doing anything ) but my pre-preg weight was 14 n half stone and I'm really hoping to do something about it.

I should be 10 stone for my height but I'll be happy if I lose 3 stone.

Might follow Slimming World as have done this before and still remember all the garb but I'm not attending any meetings as have no time with 2 LO's. Just going to generally cut back and make healthier food choices.

I think I'm going to order Davina McCalls post natal DVD as heard it is good but not sure I can do it yet as had a section. Going to go out and walk with baby in the carrier as often as the wetaher will allow and am going to start using my wii fit.

Thanks jiggly for finding my other thread, I have read both pages and would love to join you guys if thats ok?

Whats the weekly weigh in day then?

sarahken · 01/08/2009 19:48

Well the sun has been out here JigglyPiggly most the day so been into town and to Tesco's to get my jobs done. But managed to get to the gym before tea. Did an hour in the gym-treadmill, x-trainer, bike and rowing machine aswell as a few weights and then did 20 lengths in the pool. Been wearing my pedometre all day and been really surprised that I have done nearly 13000 steps so far, but thinking about it I only sit down to grab a quick bite during the day and I've doubled checked its counting steps correctly.

I've had to buy a new dvd player today as my last one jumps all the time so was hoping to try my yoga dvd (only one thats arrived so far)but I think if I do too much exercise ,my body might start storing fat , will see when hubby gets home as he did promise me he'd do it with me, but I think thats onky because he fancies shillpa shetti

sarahken · 01/08/2009 19:55

Gillyan, just read your post. I had a section also (my second) and I started exercising from about 8 weeks). Think your ok as long as you get ok on general health from doctor, but I don't think its adviseable to do any abdominal exercises till 1 year post-birth. My scar was still bleeding at 6 weeks as I had a bad infection and had 3 courses of antibiotics. The swimming everyday seemed to help-probably because of the chlorine in the water keeping it super-clean Well doen on your weight loss so far- you havent got much more to lose

Gillyan · 01/08/2009 20:05

Hi sarahken Thanks for the advice, I can't get swimming as don't drive ( am remedying that ) so I'm planning on doing my exercise bike mostly and I've got loads of exercise dvd's, I'll just have to leave the abdominal parts out. Had a few problems with my scar, internal sticthes had been sticking out un-noticed for 2 weeks so not healed. Then I had an infection of the wound and the skin and thrush! Yikes, was so much fun, not! All healing well now tho.

Only got a stone of baby weight but was already about 4 st over weight to beginf with sohave got a way to go yet!

Whats the weight in day?

lydiathetattooedlady · 01/08/2009 20:46

hi can i join too? ds was born 4 weeks last monday , not too soon to join i hope?? i dont have any baby weight to lose but was overweight before hand. would like to get down to about 9 1/2 stone so have just over a stone to lose. i am breast feeding though so not sure what is the best way to go about dieting!

sarahken · 01/08/2009 21:24

You sound like me Gilyan, I put on 3 stone of baby weight and have now lost it all in the first 10 weeks, but now I have my stubborn pre-pregnancy weight to shift. Currently 12st 9lbs, so have 2st 8lbs to lose to get to a bmi of 25. Weigh in day is a friday, but I weight in on a wednesday as thats when I go to weight watchers. If you start tomorrow then just weigh in on a sunday, don't think it really matters. Welcome lydiathetattoedlady sorry I've no knowledge on breastfeeding and dieting, but I think it burns quite alot of calories so you need to eat more than a normal person would do dieting. Someone else on here may be able to help or try the breastfeeding threads. Congratulations on the new baby

Hi activity and lydia glad you've joined from our ante natal thread.

Well I am going to follow SW and it all starts in the morning, I'm going to weigh myself in a min on the wii fit then I can keep track of the losses ( I'm being optomistic )

I've now got no naughty food in the house and have been shopping today and got all my healthly stuff.

I'm weighing about 15st 10lbs now.....

JigglyPiggy · 02/08/2009 21:41

hello everyone

lydia - i think its just a case of not being too restrictive with your diet. (some)MW's here are very supportive of slimming world as when BF i think you have extra allowances.

activity - stick around as its all good preparation for when the body catches up with the mind!

gillyan - don't fret you are ahead of me already by 2.5lbs and I've been doing this for weeks

Managed to get out for a walk today and resisted the urge to eat DH's & DD's fresh baked baguettes (i miss lovely soft white bread!)

Going to tuck into my second curly wurly now, MN and search interweb for wii exercise stuff

Gillyan · 03/08/2009 00:08

Weighed myself on the wii fit and my start weight is 15stones & 12lbs! eek.

Right here's to a productive healthy week.....

SparkyMalarky · 03/08/2009 10:11

Hi all - sorry, started the thread and then disappeared as we had visitors staying.....but still managed to lose 2 lbs last week!!! Hurrah

But - can do better as there were still a few too many biscuits consumed

lydia - I'm bf too and I don't think a formal 'diet' is recommended, more of an 'eat better, move more' plan...my GP said no dieting whilst exclusively bf-ing, which makes sense....

In the meantime - congratulations HM and hello fellow new body seekers! How is everyone's Monday going? jiggly how's the diet aid going? sarah - well done you - that weight loss is fabulous

JigglyPiggy · 03/08/2009 15:39

I am so of your weight loss with biscuits included!!! Well done though, they always remind you at SW that 2lb a wk loss is very good.

went on the wii fit this morning for it to tell me i've gained 3lb?!! yes im wearing different clothes and it was in the morning and not the afternoon but im still

i think the key for me has to be more activity as my eating is pretty good at the moment. weigh in tomorrow and im going to do a food diary this wk - can i post here and receive punishment for any deviations

tablets have been fine - none of the nasty side effects which is why i'm confused that im not losing as im not consuming lots of fat etc?

SparkyMalarky · 03/08/2009 15:54

I was going to suggest a food diary....so yes, post away

So frustrating, this week had no loss so far even though been to the gym everyday and done my 10,000 steps per day. So had a hot 'n spicy pizza with chips and a star bar last night in hope of kick starting my metabolism again Think everone would be appaled at my diet diary. Its absolutely stuffed with junk food but I seem to still lose weight as its calories eaten in total that matter not quality. For instance had a 2 finger kit kat for breakfast (2.5pts), a weight Watcher pizza for lunch (5pts), and weight watcher chicken hotpot for tea (3) and tonight on the sofa I've had another 2 finger kitkat, 3 crackers, packet of chewits and a weight watcher ice cream cone (8pts). I've still got another 3.5 points to use, which will no doubt to used to eat more crap. I think my problem is I have no appetite at the moment so use little calories on actual meals and then stuff my face with crap at night because if you don't eat all your points your body tends to start storing fat. I really need to start planning meals more and including 5 portions of fruit and veg. Hi to ActivityApple - don't follow my example

Harimosmummy · 04/08/2009 07:52

hello all,,, just a quick check in from me...

all well here, thou DD pulled a bit of an alnighter and is now asleep - but she handed the baton to DS who slept like a log and is now full of beans!!!!!

i'm exc. bf at the mo (DD is here so i'm typing one handed) so no formal diet but i did go for a bit of a walk yesterday and am eatin sensibly!!!

I'm really resisting the urge to jump on the scales until fri because as JP said, it's frustrating getting different answers!!!

hope you are all well and sorry for bad typing!!!

hm (i've namedchanged to include DD's name too now)

naturopath · 05/08/2009 00:17

Hello all - can I join? ds born just 6 days ago so can't really do much yet, but I need to start eating healthily. Have stitches, so a few weeks before I can excercise.

HAve 2 stone to lose - was 9 stone pre-pregnancy and now 11. thanks!

JigglyPiggy · 05/08/2009 11:23

hello everyone

naturopath - healthy eating will do you well with LO being so young. I think it really helped with my recovery this time. Had DS in a birth centre and the food was fab - lovely salads and jackets which i continued with at home and then joined SW once he was a couple of wks.

HM - have your midwives given you any dietry advice while BF? I think with SW it was a case of having an extra A choice which is dairy will have a look in my books

sarah - you are doing so well with the exercise and i like your diet diary

i've only just had breakfast as made my coffee on to find the milk off! had to wait for DH to grab some on the way home so I could have my 2 weetabix and a banana.

At weigh in last night i was 1.5lb down and slimmer of the week so i am determined to have a good week.

sarahken · 05/08/2009 18:28

well done jigglypiggly on your success. I have lost 1 lb this week, which to be honest i'm a bit disappointed at. But my weight watcher leader said you need to burn up to 10,000 extra calories to lose an extra lb of fat so thats put me off the gym a bit. Did the Vikki Binns dance dvd last night and god I'm feeling it in my legs today and I only did 20 minutes. Its a really good dvd though and good fun, if a little fast at first. But there's also an eating plan on it at the end. Worth the £2.99 from Play.com if your struggling to get to the gym and you can just do a 15 min section while baby is sleeping, believe me that will get you sweating enough

Gillyan · 05/08/2009 20:29

Well doen jiggly sarah yep your diet sounds fab!

Well day three of diet and I have not ceated once! ( thats good for me ) I have ordered the Davina Mccall DVD, as far as exercise goes I have stomped round with the baby in the carrier and thats it, but I have been run ragged with 2 kids the last few days so all good hopefully!

Gillyan · 05/08/2009 20:31

Welcome naturopath Congrats on the baby.

OrmIrian · 05/08/2009 20:33

Congratulations on the baby,

Re the body, you can have mine. I haven't been looking after it that well in the last few week. And it has a damaged foot (not sure about liver either ) but hey, it would be new to you!

Misspaella · 06/08/2009 06:56

Morning ladies
Pls may I join this thread...in desperate need as I think I have PUT ON some lbs since giving birth a month ago. I blame the night feeds (and me reaching for a biscuit or 2 during this times)

Hi Lydia Apple Gillyan.

I want/need to lose about 10lbs or so BUT most importantly I want to tone my tum. 3 pg later it has become a real jelly belly.

Any tips to strengthen my core is much needed.

So far I am squeezing time to do 2 spin classes a week (been doing since 3 weeks after birth) but that's it. The odd walk with all my DC's gets thrown in max twice a week as I am bf and pretty much stuck on the sofa for hours on end.

Oh and does anyone have any yummy snack ideas that does NOT involve chocolate or biscuits? I just can't stop snacking on them. HELP!
