Anyone want to join me? DD is nearly 11 weeks old and have lost precisely NOTHING since a week after she was born - so am still a stone heavier than I was pre PG.

Seeing as I was 2 stone heavier post DS (3), and I could have done with losing some before I got PG with him, I reckon I need to lose 4 (OMG, 4) stone.

Have set a start date of Sunday and am hoping low GI will be the way forward....

Anyone want to hand hold, share tips and help me stay away from the biscuit tin?

Hi Misspaella. I think my tummy is my main area of concern also, and I've heard some people say that you can loose all the weight you want and try all the stomach exercises you want but you will never be able to have a toned stomach again I soooooooooooooooooooooo hope thats not true. I have had 2 c-sections and after been 17st 4lbs at my top weight it looks horrendus with loads of strech marks to match and a large overhang, I think surgery would be the only option to fix mine but I don't think I would go that far. May ask at the gym tomorrow if they think any exercises would help.

As for snacks I love Tesco Finest parmesan breadsticks, I think you can have about 8 for 1.5 weight watcher points so they are really low. I also love wholemeal crackers also from Tesco. Meringues with strawberries are also great calaorie wise, Celery and low fat dairylee/philidelpia. Have you tried weight watcher no point Italian vegetable soup, you can make a huge batch and freeze it in individual portions ready for those nights when you just can't get full. Let me know if you want the recipe

Harimosmummy · 07/08/2009 09:08

hi all...

one handed typing from me again

ayway, i have 'weighed in' this morning at 11st 3lbs.... that means i've lost 15lbs in two weeks!!! oh the joy of childbirth!!!

DD is doing well... she is 10 days old now, and feeding like a maniac!!!

sarahken - i've heard that about the tummy area too...

JigglyPiggy · 07/08/2009 13:42

hi all
just back from a lovely long walk in the sunshine!! think i may go out again in a bit as it seems to have rained for weeks.

didnt continue with the food diary as was naughty on tues night as had friends over.

yesterday had weetabix, quorn sandwich and jackets & beans for tea and my curly wurlys in the evening. managed a couple of pieces of fruit as snacks in between.

had my weetabix this morning and im going to have pasta in a mo for lunch.

have to say my tummy looks awful looks like a W shape at the bottom if that makes sense? if you hear of anything that will help please post about it!

sarahken · 07/08/2009 19:45

I think I know what you mean jigglypiggly. My stomach muscles have seperated down the middle which leaves it looking very untoned and hanging down kind of in a 'w' shape, which happens in a lot of pregnancies . I think this is unfortunately irreparable through diet and exercise. With my ds (1st preg) I got down from 17st 4lbs to 10st 4lbs and to be honest that was little change in the apperance of my stomach. I'm also unhappy with my breasts and think they have sagged quite alot since birth, with my ds they were completely normal. But now it looks like the skin has lost its elasticity. Think I need about £20,000 of surgery to correct all my flaws lol. It really amazes me when you see women who have given birth who regain a flat toned stomach and dont have any strech marks. I look like I have a road map covering my arms, legs and stomach. RANT OVER ha ha. Well done on your loss so far harimosmummy

Gillyan · 08/08/2009 21:00

sarahken I sympathise, I would so have a tummy tuck and a breast lift/reduction if it didn't actually cost a bomb and involve actual surgery! Oh well!

I went out last night and blew the 'syns' (SW) on a lot of wine and G&T's and then...erm amassive chicken burger on thw way home, other than that though I have stuck to my diet completely all week. I'll weigh myself tomorrow night and see if I've had any luck!

Gillyan · 09/08/2009 22:24

I've lost 3lbs! Very happy!

JigglyPiggy · 09/08/2009 23:03

Gillyan congratulations on a fab loss.

Don't know if this is going to be a good week for me, I am trying to behave but keeping getting tempted by other people!

made a lovely cous cous cake tonight so that should help with the sweet cravings. going to do shopping excerise aswell tomorrow in the hope that i can burn off some of what im eating!

how's everyone else doing?

naturopath · 10/08/2009 09:12

Well done Gillyan and HArisbosmummy on the weight loss!

ok, so it's now 12 days post-birth, and I now weigh 10 stone 3 oz! Sure that will go up a bit though as yesterday I was 10.7. Anyway, feeling quite positive so far, as it did take a whole year after ds1 to get back to my normal weight.

Totally sympathise with all of you with saggy tummies/split tummy muscles - I ahve very pronounced rectus abdominus distasis (split tummy muscles), which never got better from the first birth, so still look v pregnant.

Anyway, I hope you don't mind, but I might have a bit of a food diary on here.

So, this morning, after 2 chocolate biscuits and 4 minstrels I made myself a big salad with lettuce, mangetout, spinach, red pepper, carrot and spring onion, and have just eaten it and feel quite virtuous. Also had 2 raw carrots.

naturopath · 10/08/2009 09:17

oh, forgot to say, the best initial excercise you can do to remedy the gap in tummy muscles is to bring your tummy in towards your back (iyswim) and count to ten, breathing while you do it. Try to do at least 30 per day - ideally 300!

lydiathetattooedlady · 10/08/2009 22:23

hi, after initially joining last week, i had a crap week diet wise so thought id start again today only to discover i have lost 1 1/2lb!! yippee! have got my weight watchers books back from sister so have started today with avengeance!! well done gillian

Gillyan · 11/08/2009 08:30

Good luck lydia well done on the loss with having a bad week.

I'm having an allergic reaction so have been given steroids, doc said it won't help my weight loss but we'll see. Still not done an exercise yet but have cleared a space for my exercise bike to go back downstairs and still waiting for my Davina McCall DVD.

Hope everyone is ok xx

Harimosmummy · 11/08/2009 12:28

Hey there,

Just a quickie from me... I'm feeling fitter and thinner day by day now - but resisting the urge to exercise until after my 6 week check.

I got my shopping delivered this week, rather than brave the supermarket with 2 kids, so have a fridge full of fruit and no crisps. I hae to be honest and say I'm really missing my unhealthy snacks, but not having the in the house (and not being able to pop out easily to buy them!!!!!!!!!) is really helping me.

DD is 14 days old today. I can't believe how well we have all settled in together... it's like she has been here forever

Hope you are all well!

HM x

JigglyPiggy · 11/08/2009 14:06

HM I can't believe DS is 12wks!

I am starting to notice results from the vibration machine thingy, I do have muscles under their somewhere and they ache when I have done a 10min session now

weigh in tonight. feeling slimmer but who knows. been for a walk in the lovely sunshine and I have done lots of housework in a silly attempt to shift some weight by 7pm tonight!

sarahken · 11/08/2009 20:36

Jigglypiggy- My dd is 12 weeks today, when was your son born was it the 19th May. Well done on all the fantastic weight losses. Don't think I have lost much again this weight- I ahve just come to a standstill. Will see tomorrow at my weight watchers meeting

JigglyPiggy · 11/08/2009 21:32

hi sarah

my ds was born the 18th and is sat here helping me type! must get weighed this week as i want to be losing more than he gains!!

another 1lb down. going to have a good week this week, have got back on my bike tonight so will hurt in the morning but i know it will be worth it

snack wise i have couscous cake, alpen lights, grilled chick peas (pretend peanuts) and lots of fruit.

pippa251 · 13/08/2009 10:23

Hi

Can I join? My DD was born on 21 July and I have lost 2 stone so far- however I seem to be stuck at 11.9 for the past few days. My ideal weight is 10.7 so i still have a way to go.

I currantly have a jogging pram and started excersizing again last Tuesday - I worked out 4 times last week and so far this week went for a run on Monday and did bums/tums around the house. I had a rest Tuesday but yesterday went on a 45 min run.

My main issue is diet- I'm always hungry!

Harimosmummy · 13/08/2009 13:33

Hi Pippa,

My DD was born on 29th July... I've lost quite a bit of weight since (but resisting the urge to weigh myself until tomorrow! ) bt not exercising too much yet as i had DD by CS!!

It might be worth looking at your measurements too as youare working out and muscle is heavier - so might not show up a weight loss....

JigglyPiggy · 13/08/2009 20:19

hi everyone

had ds weighed today and I have lost more than he weighs so i am

its shocking to hold him and think i used to carry that around in fat!!!

however, whats even more shocking is that i still have the weight of 4 yr old DD to shift. I pick her up and think oh my god thats what im carrying round every day!

Misspaella · 14/08/2009 10:30

Hi Sarahk
Well you have confirmed to me that the jelly belly is here to stay. I must convince DH to save his pennies for my tummy tuck in a few years time.

Congrats Gillyan!!!

I haven't really been doing well on the eating front. In fact, last Sunday I found some hard hot red patches on my breasts (turned out to be mastitis) and I was so p'd off I just binged on cakes/chocolates until I got the flu symptons from the mastitis and I lounged on my flabby ass for the rest of the day. Not a great combo!

I plan "to be good" starting next Monday.

Misspaella · 14/08/2009 10:33

Pippa me too. I just seem way more hungry now than when I was actually pg.

I have already gone back to spinning (did 3 weeks after DS was born) but don't really have time to do that more than twice a week. I LOATHE running but may try that.

Anyone have any good yoga dvd recommendations? I hear Rodney Yea is good but which one?????

Harimosmummy · 14/08/2009 12:05

I am now 10st 13lb... so I've lost 4lbs this week. Which is good, I suppose... but I'm a bit disappointed that it's not more as I've been really strict with myself (though did have fish and chips and a glass of wine yesterday so that might be my downfall!)

I'd really like to get down to about 9st 6lbs - 9st10lbs (You know, I'm not as young as I used to be, and I might need to carry a bit more weight to not look wrinkly!! )

But that's still WELL over a stone to go

Best go, DS has just gone for a nap at the very second DD woke up to feed! KIDS!!!!!

Hm x

Gillyan · 14/08/2009 20:28

Hi everyone

harimosmummy Well done on your loss thats great - u shouldn't be dissappointed thats a great loss!

I've attacked the exercise today, did the Davina DVD and it was good but it is very low impact. But in honestly I don't think I would have the energy ( or the breath ) to do much more and I think this will break me in gently. Still feel like I need to get out of breath and sweaty though to be doing some good so me and DP dragged the exercise bike out and took it down stairs ( which was exercise in itself )

I couldn't help it, I weighed myself yesterday and I had lost another 2lbs! So thats 5lbs down in 11 days!, my weigh in day is Sun night so will hopefully have done another lb by then!

DP and I are having a drink tonight, got vodka and diet lemonade, here's to counting the syns......

sarahken · 15/08/2009 22:09

Misspaella sorry to hear you have mastitis, its horrible, had it with my dd within a week of giving birth as she had tongue-tie and had grazed my nipples, sat crying in pain everytime I had to feed so agve up in the end. I got the Shilpa Sheeti yoga dvd and it was so boring, me and my husband attempted it and we were hysterical with laughter for most of it. Poundland have currently got a few exercise dvds in- strictly come dancing one, shilpa shetti yoga, fame dancing and sometimes they have one called the yummy mummy workout! great for a £1, cos if you don't like it you haven't lost much.

I only lost 1/2 lb at weight watchers this week, and had been sooooo good with my diet and exercise. So, on Wednesday I had a day off after weight in, and treated myself to jumbo battered sausage and chips for lunch and for tea- hawaian pizza, garlic bread, chips from the kebab shop and chocolate and crisps in bed!!! Since Thursday I think I have lost 3lbs- so it definately kick started my metobolism again. Think I will do it every wednesday! Well done on your loss harimosmummy thats a fantastic amount

Gillyan · 17/08/2009 09:02

I lost 1lb this week, so 4lb in 2 wks xx

JigglyPiggy · 17/08/2009 09:14

Well done Gillyan! sarahken are you getting close to your goal weight?

Harimosmummy you are doing really well. I have found these first 12 weeks have flown by with DS so it may not feel like it now but that stone will soon melt away.

I am hoping for a really good loss tomorrow so I must be good today and try and get out for a walk later. I may have a look for some recipes first and try to have some different meals this week.
