Have lost a shit-load of weight

When I started losing weight, I was in the "morbidly obese" category - ie BMI over 40. I have gone down through the morbidly obese, obese and overweight categories. I am now hovering slightly above the "normal" weight category - BMI about 26. All I ever wanted was to be "normal" weight (and to look just normal).
6 more pounds will do the job, except I don't think I will be happy with the result that I have wanted for so long and that I will want to lose quite a lot more weight. Help me to be happy, please?

You should be amazingly happy, that is a fab achivement, im on cambridge at the mo but its so hard. So please tell me how did you do it?

Milliways · 21/04/2009 19:12

Well done you!

That's an amazing achievement.

Just keep looking at the "before" photo's and settle for a weight that is more achievable to maintain.

How did you do this? Was it Weightwatchers etc?

isittooearlyforgin · 21/04/2009 19:13

first - congratulations!! that takes so much will power - you must be fitter and healthier.

But do you think that if you are not happy now that weight wasn't what made you unhappy in the first place? You could keep going until you were a super model and still not be content if that is the case?

isittooearlyforgin · 21/04/2009 19:14

ps: floury baps is such a cool name

MadameCastafiore · 21/04/2009 19:16

You have to realise that it is not your weight that your happiness hangs on but a whole load of other shit.

Bloody well done though - am on day 2 of SW and am thinking about food all the time so to lose that much you are doing bloody fab!

TheCrackFox · 21/04/2009 19:31

Well done. Maybe go out and buy a shed load of clothes? You won't want to get too skinny for them.

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 21/04/2009 19:36

Well done you!!
I am travelling the same road you have. BMI was over 40, it is now 38, I have lost 19lbs but have so so so much more to go!
How did you stay motivated?

Enjoy your new weight and the new clothes you can now wear and look great in!
And best of all - you can stop shopping in blasted Evans (am soooo sick of their clothes now)

Well done, and I really really hope one day I will be where you are now.

Out of interest, how much did you lose and how long did it take??

MintyyAeroEgg · 21/04/2009 19:36

I am sure you are pleased with yourself.

But do we have to have the word "shit" in the thread title? Fucking pisses me off.

nightcrawler · 21/04/2009 19:39

Yes, I do realise that - about the unhappiness thing - heavens, folks are so much nicer on this thread than others. Thank you all - am crap at metric - have lost 6st 1lb, think it is 85lb. Probably having a crap day, sorry. Anyway, whatever I think about anything, am over the moon about losing all that weight.

Well done nightcrawler!

Perhaps you are still adjusting to looking in the mirror and seeing yourself as a person of a healthy weight? It can take a while to get your brain to catch up with your body, iyswim.

You should be really proud of yourself. It is incredibly hard to lose weight - that's why soem people make a fortune selling diet products.

NakedInnocence · 21/04/2009 19:40

Well done - you must (and should be) amazingly proud.

I don't know how you lost the weight but have you considered any sort of conselling?

That degree of weightloss is going to have a major impact on every aspect of your life and you need to deal with it all before you can settle down to a new normality and be happy.

Sorry if that is a little mumobo jumbo-ish

nightcrawler · 21/04/2009 19:41

Minty - hehe - fecking makes me laugh!

OP posts:
Goober · 21/04/2009 19:43

Good for you.
I too have lost 30lbs since February, BMI now 23. Is that good?

Milliways · 21/04/2009 19:51

Wow Goober - 30lb in < 2 months! How did you do that? Lighter Life??

Goober · 21/04/2009 20:04

No manufactured plan. Just seriously watching what I eat. No/low fat, low cals, aiming for 10 fruit/veg a day, high fibre foods, NEVER eating after 6 and ALWAYS eating a good breakfast. I am never hungry.

Milliways · 21/04/2009 20:10

Very well done then! That's fantastic

unfitmother · 21/04/2009 20:14

Well done!!

HOW??

nightcrawler · 21/04/2009 20:16

To NakedInnocence - counselling for what? - the weight I used to be yonks ago and am again now? I appreciate the thought, but it is probably superfluous.
nickytywotimes - wise woman!
hippipotami - have gone from 17 stone a year ago to 10 stone 6 lbs today

OP posts:
flourybaps · 21/04/2009 20:16

thankyou isittoearlyforgin I think yours is cooler!

LoveMyGirls · 21/04/2009 20:17

I know what you mean I think NL

I have recently lost some weight though nowhere near 6 stone, so well done!!!!!!!!!!!!

At the moment I'm 9.11 the lightest I've been this time was 9.4 so I'm trying to lose some to get down to 9 stone which I could do easily if I really tried I know but besides that I want to be toned I want to look good I want to be able to not think about my body or my weight I'm not sure how if ever I will get to that point because if I ever try to forget about it I put weight on and feel down about it.

I think maybe we need to try to concentrate on how well we've done?

nightcrawler · 21/04/2009 20:20

goober - BMI 23 - well done! Credit where is due - I have lost 6 sodding stone and I haven't got there yet, but then I was awful fat!

nightcrawler · 21/04/2009 20:23

Boo!

Wow, well done Goober!

hippipotamiHasLost19Pounds · 21/04/2009 22:06

Absolutely brilliant! I am making my way down from 22st4. (in my defence, I am 6ft1 tall). Have just reached 21st. That has taken 6 weeks. So I am happy and looking forward to reaching my next target of 20stone.

isittooearlyforgin · 22/04/2009 22:00

congratulations and good luck H!
