Have just bought the book & CD after two recommendations. Anyone following his rules ? Is it working ?

I started with it but have not followed through (got distracted with something else) but the few days that I heard the CD and read the book I noticed that I didn't feel abd about living something on the plate and stoped comfort eating.

Chandra · 09/08/2005 22:00

bad about leaving something on the plate

Elza · 10/08/2005 07:53

Hi Mosschops30,
I read them all and it seams if you listen to the CD and read the book to back it up, you will actually "reprogram" your way of eating. I eat because I can... not because I'm hungry. He helps you to only eat when you are hungry and to stop when you feel full. You also have to eat slower. Something I haven't done since the birt of my first child 8 years ago! My mom taught me it is bad manners to leave any food on your plate. Maybe that is why she has been overweight her whole life. Seems as if the CD has a whole lot of "reprogramming" to do. Can't wait to try it out. Yesterday was a public holiday here in SA so maybe I'll have to wait untill Thurday before actually reading the whole thing.
Will let you know how things go.

Hi Seabird
thanks for asking after me.
we're in the new house now, took a while to get back online.
I've lost 2.8lbs over last 2 weeks, and total of 8.6lbs in last month
my clothes are getting looser - which is very motivating.listening to Paul McK cd has def helped, only listened once in last 10 days due to being busy with house moving but still following the principles. I am no longer a member of the clean plate club, and find I can't always finish my dinner. This is something that never happened to me EVER BEFORE !

Hope your mum finds the method helpful.

how are you getting on?
are finding time to listen, if you call it that seeing as we seem to switch off.
interesting to hear your thoughts on "Change Your Life in 7 Days" CD.

the titles are so cheesy ! not no denying the 'I can make you thin' method works.

hi Twoifbysea

have you read the book and listened to the CD?

I wasn't a believer, but gave it a whirl, nothing to lose in trying it, and am now a total convert .

Sorry to hear your outings are limited for fear of being seen a chunky mum Can relate to that. Much of the Paul McK is about encouraging self worth, whereas most diets are about control and breed bad self image.

I'm in for the long haul, I started off on this diet journey with BMI of 43 (i.e. in the mordbidly obese category) , now 31. My mini goal to to be merely overweight .

all the best, and keep us posted with how you get on !

no, but if he can make me thin, i'll follow him anywhere!

Elza · 12/08/2005 13:42

Hi everybody,

I got the book, read it straight away and I've already listened to the CD 4 times-just in case....
Must say I need to remind myself everytime I eat to take it slowly and taste everything in my mouth. I'm so used to eating as if I have to catch a bus. Tried it last night and there is a lot of tastes in the food I prepared that I never picked up before.
Will let you know how things go.

TwoIfBySea · 18/08/2005 21:12

Thanks for the support Katya!

It does seem to be working as I have noticed I was leaving food on my plate but have now started smaller portions and for once feel satisfied after a meal. Plus, instead of snacking all the time I have found I am happy just with a glass of water.

Who knew!

I am rejoining my slimmers class just so I can get back into healthy eating (Scottish Slimmers.) But it is only because this has given me focus and gotten rid of that constant feeling of wanting to eat.

TwoIfBySea · 18/08/2005 21:15

I should actually add that because of this cd/book I feel once I have lost the excess baggage (that is no way to speak of DH!) it will stay off simply because my mindset is reprogrammed.

Plus dst (3 1/2) are seeing me enjoy the food more and taking my time rather than shovelling it in. That is surely healthier for their future food habits, of which I hope there are none.

Katya · 20/08/2005 21:43

glad to hear you're finding it helpful Twoifbysea

def agree that getting mindset reprogammed into healthy/attentive way of eating is a way for the future. it's not a 'diet' but a way of life.

I've still got to work at eating slower, but now notice the feeling of having eaten enough and have to stop eating. Pretty major change.

at my old habits !

how's it going with Scottish slimmers?

also what does dst stand for?

Katya

Katya · 20/08/2005 21:47

lost 0.6lbs this week, which I am pleased with as it's a loss, I've been really busy and tired, and failed to make time to listen to the CD for ages.

it all adds up, or rather subtracts from the mass
total loss 9.2lbs in 6 weeks.

Loretta · 20/08/2005 22:37

Hi all,

Just wanted to say I've only listened to the CD once and haven't finished the book yet. I've noticed a change almost immediately - I don't think about food 24/7 now, I leave food on my plate, which is absolutely unbelievable. Even if something is REALLY gorgeous, I just can't finish it because my body knows it's had enough!!!! So weird.

I do sometimes forget to eat slowly though!

So, anybody reading this, take a chance and buy the book, it's only 5.86 in Asda (about one week's payment in WW!) - it will change your life! Gawd, what do I sound like?!!!

Best wishes all,
Loretta

TwoIfBySea · 21/08/2005 01:11

Katya, with dst the t stands for twin and the ds is as normal on Mumsnet terminology! I am so lazy I got fed up writing ds twin1 or 2 all the time!

Like I said the Scottish Slimmers thing is more about learning the healthy eating rather than going on a diet as now I know what feeling full is like I won't want to graze so much. But I need re-educated in food, I feed my dst only the best and then eat absolute rubbish myself!

Elza · 28/08/2005 14:22

Hi everybody,

I feel a bit down. Lost only 0.7lbs in my first two weeks. At one stage I felt so good and I expected at least a two pound loss if not more, but then I started feeling bloated etc. Will give it a few more weeks and then see what the scale say..

Regards
Elza

Blondeinlondon · 07/11/2005 21:41

Is anyone still following this?
I've only managed to read half the book

Seabird · 21/11/2005 21:24

hi BlondeinLondon- it worked for me bigtime, I lost stacks and am the weight I was about 5 years ago (pre both kids).

In fact I liked the approach so much I've since become a Master NLP Practitioner trained by Paul McKenna and set up an NLP/Hypnotherapy/Life Coaching practice so I can help people change & be happier using his methods

Go for it - it really works.

Blondeinlondon · 03/12/2005 20:13

Okay I will endeavour to finish the book this weekend!

Hi

I tried this and although the book was cheesy, I liked the concept; based on common sense and for the long-term. However I found it hard to implement. TBH I didn't try for very long, but I find it very hard to know when I am hungry and with a baby I tend to eat when I can. It is fine trying to eat when you are hungry as long as you have both hands free for long enough! I also eat very slowly anyway (everyone always comments on it) and the thought of eating any slower depresses me. Having said that, ice cream is the one food I eat faster than my husband, and I am pretty good at shovelling in the chocolates.
Anyone got any advice? Cheers.
