Have just bought the book & CD after two recommendations. Anyone following his rules ? Is it working ?

I've just started the twoweek programme (although I bough and read most of the book a few months ago) and have been diligently listening to the CD. OK, I have done so when very tired in bed, but both times I've listened I've fallen asleep probably just over halfway through. Does this happen to anyone else and if so, do you still feel you are processing the CD and getting benefits from it?

Seabird · 11/01/2006 19:46

6beetrootsAmilking, sorry I've been offline for ages. I just tried to CAT you but it said you don't exist!

I'm still "doing" this (although it's become completely unconscious so doesn't require any effort ), have been since mid-last year, and am still losing weight .

Seabird · 11/01/2006 19:50

TaiTai, you will still be getting benefits from the CD even if you think you are asleep - but you will get even more from it if you are awake enough that when he does the countdown to alertness at the end you wake up (even briefly).

Since starting this I trained as a hypnotherapist/NLP practitioner with Paul McKenna so I've done a lot of hypnosis (on myself and others), and I still drift off most of the time when I listen to this CD!

edgetop · 11/01/2006 20:10

seabird could you tell me what im doing wrong with the cd i have listenrd to it over & over again but it hasnt worked for me. i really want it too.

Seabird · 12/01/2006 19:39

Have you read the book, Edgetop, and are you following the 4 rules? The CD makes it easy to follow the rules but you have to know them. Feel free to CAT me if you want to ask anything more specific. (I'm doing weight loss hypnotherapy sessions at the moment so I'm really interested in how everyone is doing with this system!)

TaiTai · 12/01/2006 19:46

Thanks for your reply, Seabird. Although I assume CAT means to contact directly, can you tell me what the acronym actually stands for? I've seen it a lot on mumsnet and although I've asked before, noone replied! I have a specific question myself, do you mind if I email you? Cheers.

Seabird · 12/01/2006 20:36

I think it's contact another talker (?) Look forward to hearing from you TaiTai

TaiTai · 14/01/2006 15:42

Hi Seabird, I've sent you a message the other day which I hope you got OK. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for your advice about falling asleep when listening to the CD. Funnily enough, the last two times I've listened I've fallen asleep during but then woke up when he did the countdown to alertness. I was sleepy though and after removing my headphones went to sleep. Not sure if it's working, it's only been five days, but it can't be doing any harm.

Beetrootfultoyourself · 14/01/2006 15:52

I tried it but i thin it is rubbish..well it did not work for me.

Am doing my regular annul detox which willget me back to my own wait agin in a month.

edgetop · 14/01/2006 15:59

taitai, im trying again with the book & cd. i have had the book since september i read the book the same day as i got it,followed the rules & after a month i weigh myself, i was still the same as when i started. so that was it i didnt bother anymore. last week paul mckenna was on sky one monday at 9 pm, i watched the programme & i dont think i have been doing it propley,i still dont eat slow enough, dont always leave something on my plate. so im going to give it another go, im sticking to the rules this time. so if i can pass any advice on its to follow the rules closely, & dont give up.
his progremme is on this monday again.

Seabird · 14/01/2006 16:49

Didn't get your message sorry TaiTai - strange. Try again maybe? I'll check my contact details are ok. That's it - if you "wake up" when he does he count to "alertness" you've not been asleep just in a deep trance, which means it's all gone into your unconscious. So definitely not doing any harm

TaiTai · 14/01/2006 19:23

Thanks Seabird (I'll see if I can try again) and edgetop. Edgetop, do you know if the programme is repeated on Sky 3 (aka SkyTravel)? I get S3 but not Sky One as I only have a digibox, not Sky.

It's funny to think I'm in a trance because I've had hypnotherapy before and never relaxed enough to go into a trance. If nothing else, it's helping me to relax and go to sleep afterwards, which is a big plus for me!

TaiTai · 14/01/2006 19:28

Seabird, I've sent an email to Mumsnet to see if they can look into this for me, as this website doesn't save a copy of the message you send when CAT-ing.

edgetop · 15/01/2006 14:33

taitai i can only see it on sky 1 &2.

TaiTai · 15/01/2006 17:49

Thanks for looking! Has he hypnotised you through the TV yet?! (one of the aims of the prog)

edgetop · 15/01/2006 19:12

no i dont think so! you can go on the web site & record your weight & join in with the others, i havent because i taped the programme & didnt watch it until friday.
one thing i noticed today, i keep forgeting to eat slower& i had some wine with my tea, so maybe thats why its not worked before. imust try harder.

TaiTai · 15/01/2006 21:43

Thanks, Edge. I'm going to join tomorrow (my weigh-day). I'll let you know how I get on! The problem I have with the rules is the eating slowly part: not because I can't, but because I already do! I am the slowest eater I know. I can't bear the thought of eating any slower - I'd never get anything else done and my baby would starve. What to do?

Seabird · 15/01/2006 21:51

LOL re eating any slower TaiTai! I must admit I never managed that one. When I started doing this I had a 2 month old and an 18 month old and eating slowly just wasn't possible!

edgetop · 15/01/2006 22:20

its funny you should say that because im quite a slow eater as well, so its hard to slow down any more.

cathyspam · 16/01/2006 08:30

I watched this last night on sky 2 and am giving it a go - had bran flakes for breakfast and made a large bowl as ususal but felt full halfway through - weird! I helped myself eat slowly by feeding ds2 at the same time as eating myself - good plan i think! Just registered on the website too - good luck to anyone else trying this.

emily05 · 16/01/2006 11:24

I started this today and have eaten only when hungry and drunk water - so far so good! I normally eat loads but am working on the 'listening to your body' principle.

Good luck everybody!

TaiTai · 16/01/2006 17:11

I've registered today. Glad to see there's a few of us that have; we can support eachother. Think I need to work on having a positive state of mind though; the website states "at the end of the four weeks you'll be able to see how you've faired" and I read that as "...see how you've failed".

wendy33 · 16/01/2006 17:51

Hi everyone!

Glad so many of you are having a go but I feel really jealous at the min.

I am 18 weeks pregnant and cant join in! I follow some of the rules generally anyway and know from my experience that the drink a glass of water if you feel hungry works and also stop when you are full. I got in the habit of eating until my plate was empty and in turn had a huge appitite. Now I can only manage small portions as I do stop when full. I have found that my body has adapted to a smaller size meal over time but it does take time for it to shrink. I think that it is good so many people are wiling to try this new approach to losing weight but I think that I would cut out some of the bad foods still1

Good luck everyone!

Seabird · 06/02/2006 21:02

Hi How's everyone doing with this? Anyone watching Paul McKenna's TV programme?
