Just seen this advertised in National Press.

Has anyone ever tried it?

Is it pricey?

More to the point, Does it really work?

I'm intrigued..... I had never heard of this programme before...

Hello there Alizonners!!
I have been following your threads for a few weeks and you have inspired me! I had my GP consultation at the clinic in Newcastle today so gearing up to start! I am having difficulties getting onto the actual Alizonne site. I have the password but don't know the avatar url is - can anyone help??

I am keen to get into the 'zone' before I actually start (next friday). Can anyone suggest an initial shopping list for beginners??

Look forward to hearing from you.

Jill

Bigcol2177 · 11/08/2012 05:57

I've postponed my start date so my wife and I can do this together. It's now September 8th for our consultation. I know I'm ready coz normally I would use this delay to eat as much junk food as humanly possible whilst washing it down with gallons of cider. But I've actually lost a stone and a half. (yeah me!) thanks again Ali for your encouragement
Colin

AGal · 11/08/2012 21:51

Well done, Colin. That's great, and lovely that you'll be doing it tgether.

Gingerlass:

Just ignore the avatar - leave it blank. You can add in a photo/avatar, I think but not sure how. You don't have to. You should be able to start reading some old threads about people's first weeks - and maybe start a new post asking for advice.

See you over there,

Ali

Quick update on my Alizonne progress so far:

I have now lost a total 28.3kg (or 4 and a half stone in old money) since starting Alizonne on 21st March. My dress size has gone from size 20 (top) / 22 (bottom) to size 12 (top) / 14 (bottom). Some statistics:

Weeks 1 to 4: lost 7.1kg, averaging 1.775 per week
Weeks 5 to 8: lost 5.7kg, averaging 1.425 per week
Weeks 9 to 12: lost 6kg, averaging 1.5 per week.
Weeks 13 to 16: lost 4.5kg, averaging 1.125 per week.
weeks 17 to 20: lost 5kg, averaging 1.25 per week.

My overall average loss has been a respectable 1.35kg per week - very happy about that... particularly as I've been on holidays a few times during the process.

I have another 7.7kg to lose before I reach my target and I'm hoping to finish before the end of October. Then the hard process of maintaining the loss begins! :)

Wishing you all the very best...

Mrs Px

Hello everyone! I just started this week... I'M STARVING!! I haven't had a chance to read all the posts, but the ones that I've read so far say that you guys aren't hungry at all. Is there anything wrong with me?!?! I have to lose 2.5 stones and I don't know how I'm going to stand staying this hungry for another 5 weeks (phase 1)... HELP!! :-O

mrspannie · 17/08/2012 21:18

Hi mbosschart,

Well done on starting AZ - you'll be 2.5 stones lighter very very soon, so stick with it. The first week is the hardest... so you stay strong until your first weigh in and then you'll see some amazing progress. Join us on the AZ forums to get some more active support...

The short answer to your question is that you might feel a little bit head-achy and possibly a bit hungry in the first few days, but after that it should settle down. If you are in any way concerned it would be good to give your clinic a call for advice.

In the meantime, here's a few things you might want to check to ensure you don't avoid feeling completely staving:

  • make sure you have your sachets every 3 hours or so - but never less than 2 hour gaps and never more than 4 hour gaps.
  • at your lunch and evening meal, make sure you really fill up on the unlimited vegetables / salads. For example, have a big Aubergine Rogan Josh portion (recipe in the AZ handbook) or a huge salad... followed by lots of stewed rhubarb (made up with Splenda). Over time you wont need so much volume - but at the start it really helps to have lots!
  • drinking your 2 to 3 litres of water will help you feel fuller too. Maybe have half a litre with each sachet as a way of tracking your consumption.
  • don't be too ambitious or do too much in your first week - the new regime does take getting used to. So (for example) cut back on exercise, make sure you get enough sleep, feed your kids with shop food... whatever short cuts you can! Once your body gets used to it... you will feel like you have more energy than before.

That's about it for now... stay strong though. Believe and achieve.

Onwards and downwards,
Mrs Px

shomic · 18/08/2012 16:32

Fellow Allizoners beware...your periods may be effected by this diet. I have been on this 6 weeks and whilst I have lost some weight this has not been without cost. Normally I only have a smudge every 21 days but my last two periods have been horrendous. 15 days apart and10 super strength tampax + pads each day. Its getting quite embarrasing rushing out of meetings. My doctor strongly believes it is the speed of the allizone diet toether with the hoovering releasing masses of oestrogen which had previously been trapped deep within the fat. So ladies... make sure you keep a supply of whatever you use in your bags.

mbosschart · 23/08/2012 22:03

Hi mrspannie
Thank you very much for the kind words of support and for the tips as well... I have lost 4kg on my first week and that was extremely motivating!! I am still feeling hungry during most of the day, but it's not as intense as it was last week. :-)
I will definitely visit the forum and read some more about it!!
xx

AGal · 24/08/2012 09:21

mbosschart

Welcome. You should not feel physically hungry. Call the clinic if you are still hungry - they'll sort you out. I sometimes had a 6th sachet which didn't seem to slow my losses. I usually went 2-3 hours between sachets. I got grumoy iof I went longer in the mornings.

Make sure you are eating lots of free veg in the evenings and having a huge lunchtime salad, with different things in it. Chop things like celery and fennel very fine. Use parsley - flat parsley from an asian or arab shop is much cheaper than the supermarkets and often greta quality. Add some chopped tomato from your 200g allowance into some AZ friendly dressing before adding to the salad.....

See you on the forum.

Hi

I have read a lot of these posts and have contacted my local clinic, Maidenhead, to ask them a few questions. I have done Lighterlife twice before, lost 6 stone and then 5 stone each time after a baby. I now have at least 6 stone to lose as yet again I have not learnt from my old ways and have not been careful.
I am worried about a couple of things and was wondering if anyone can help me?
Firstly, having done LL just on sachets the thought of doing them again kills me as I swore I never would live on shakes again - has anyone done LL and then AZ?
Secondly, I have started going to a Boot Camp, which is 3 mornings a week at 6am for 45 mins of core exercises, including some cardio. I have just paid and signed up for the next 3 months until Christmas. Will I be able to do AZ and 3 lots of exercise sessions a week. The next camp starts on Sept 10th, so if I tried to even start AZ w/c 3rd would that be enough time to get used to it?
I am also worried about needing the toilet a lot. I am a teacher, therefore it's not easy to go to the toilet whenever I want. With LL I had to go to the toilet all the time, granted I was on 4-5 litres of water a day.
As I work in a school am I am able to make a sachet up in advance and take it with me, as it's not that easy where I work to make things and I am limited for time.

Sorry for so many questions!! But I hope someone can help me.

malik21 · 03/09/2012 02:19

hey guys! i was on alizonne 3 4 months ago only managed to do the diet for 2 months as i could no longer afford it. i lost 1 and half stone. It is a very good diet and if u stick to it u will see results. The only issue for me tho was the expense. it is a very expensive diet. And also i didnt really like the idea of having to prepare meals 5 times a day, i would have preferred if it if the meals were ready made... i lost the most w8 in my first 2 weeks and after that my weight loss really slowed down.

i have now started the cambridge diet and its a quarter of the cost. i was paying around £250 a week on alizonne and on cambridge i am paying £50 a week max. i am also experiencing quiker weight losses on cambridge then wen i was on the alizonne diet. off course on cambridge u dont have any treatments but i would defo recomend it to anyone who can not afford the alizonne diet to try the cambridge.

I had the alizonne treatments for 2 months and didnt feel as tho the treatments wre making much of a difference to my body, or maybe its bcuz u have to have them for longer then that... i dont no..

carms25 u can excersize whilst on the AZ diet but i would say take it easy on ur first week and yes u will b going to the toilet all the time as u stil have to drink at least 2 litres of water a day.. and yes u cud make a sachet in advance- the sachets like the vanilla and also the drinks u cud make b4 hand gud lukk xx

Hello everyone. I have been on AZ for 24 weeks, and lost 5 and 3/4 stone so far, aiming to lose another 12kg. I used this thread before starting AZ to find out more about AZ. To all those thinking of starting AZ, for what it's worth, here are some thoughts from me:

  • it is expensive
  • it works
  • it is not difficult to stick to as you don't feel hungry
  • there is a limited range of sachets, but it's not just shakes and soups so you can eat satisfying meals, particularly as you can eat fom a limited range of veg and salad
  • the weekly treatments and consultations seem to help (but it's hard to tell what would happen if you did the diet without the treatments)
  • it helps to get you not a good routine for the future which should help maintain weight
  • once you get past the first couple of weeks, energy levels increase
  • it is quite easy, once organised, to manage whilst at work/ travelling etc
  • there is a lot of support and advice on the AZ patient forum

Good luck!

Janezz · 09/09/2012 20:16

Hi All. I have been reading the posts. I am starting this diet. Going to have bloods done tomorrow and seeing doctor on 18th in Essex. Is there anyone else at the Essex one ? I have a few questions. I am not worried about the food. I am used to not eating what I want so I know I can do this but my main worry is I smoke and I have to usually drink with a cigarette (usually squash). When I went to the first consultation and the lady told me I can' only drink black coffee, herbal tea or water I was so deflated as if anything stops me doing this it will be that. Does anyone have any suggestions on a drink I can legally make and that I can last all day ? Any ideas would be helpful. Oh and are you allowed to have lemon (say in water, just cut up not to eat it to flavour it ?)

Misty29 · 13/09/2012 17:21

Hi,
Have sachets and supplements for sale as have had to leave the plan. I wonder if anyone would be interested in them at discount price ( can post them)'
Please let me know

AJJHF · 17/09/2012 20:54

I have take the plunge and go for my consultation and blood tests on Wednesday! Excited and nervous. How long after Wednesday will I be before I'm allowed to start the actual diet please, anyone know? Thanks.

Bigcol2177 · 20/09/2012 11:04

Ajjhf.
You have to wait till your blood test results are back. Usually a few days I think. I had my bloods taken on the 14th but due to there being no appointments available at the times I can attend I can't start the diet until the 2nd. I think that's more my work commitments than the clinics fault tho.
Good luck though. I can't wait to get started

bigmissus · 24/09/2012 14:49

Hello All,

I have just started on Alizonne - 10stone in 38 weeks is the target (!!) I'm going to the London clinic.

Just wondered though - has anyone else who is on the supersized side of life, had the same experience as me when they went for their consultation? The blood pressure monitor wouldn't go round my arm, I cant have the hoovering procedure because I am too big for the machine and the body fat monitor didnt work because I am over 50% fat (which I had already told the doctor). I'm just very surprised that a diet which is supposed to cater for the supersized gal wasn't/isn't able to cope with my size 26 frame?

Anyway, that not withstanding, am very excited / apprehensive about starting tomorrow and cannot make my mind up on which sachets to order! LOL, I will probably end up with 5 lots of hot chocolate just to keep life simple :)

Great forum - all of you are an inspiration. You are what prompted me to start this journey.

Thank you to you all

Sassybegood · 02/10/2012 14:37

Hi,

I have now officially read everything I can to do with Alizonne having spent hours on the Internet!

I have my initial appointment tomorrow for blood tests etc and have been told I should be able to start on Friday. I am 5'4" and weigh around 14 1/2 stones. I have been overweight for 10 years and have tried all the usual diets WW, SW, Atkins, South Beach, Rosemary Conley, Dukan and even good old calorie counting. I've lost a stone or two with each diet but have never been able to stick to them long term and always ended up putting weight back on.

Being overweight has really taken its toll on my confidence and I am desperate to get started on Alizonne. It's been so inspiring to read about all your experiences and they've really encouraged me to take the plunge and go for it.

I'm really nervous and excited, and for some reason massively emotional before I even start! One minute I'm jumping for joy at the prospect of actually/possibly/maybe finally losing weight and then the next minute my tummy is lurching with worry that I might be one of those people for whom it doesn't work.

After all this time I am secretly worried that I might not be capable of losing weight! As my mum says tho' - "you're not a failure until you give up" and I'm not giving up. Have bought a shed load of salad and veggies and doing a big cookathon to stock up freezer with meals for husband and son. Here's to Alizonne and looking forward to hearing more about how everyone is doing.

Hugs S xx

AGal · 03/10/2012 15:05

Hi everyone - good to see you posting here. I post on here and minimins as I couldn't find much on Alizonne before I started, and would have been grateful to read how it had wored for others. The case studies on the AZ website are for real. I've seen the befores of fellow Alizonners and many of us with lots to loose dont look like the same person afterwards. i've lost 10 years as well as 8 stone.

Bigmissus:

Welcome. I have lost 8 stone. I thought it would be impossible - and found that it wasn't.

I did Alizonne because my DH was happier to have me do something that was medically supervised. The biggest revelation has been the ultrasound - fat does literally melt from the fat cells. It was extraordinary seeing my huge tummy go down so fast. I didn't feel much different until I lost nearly 5 stone. Strange as if you'd made me haul around a suitcase with 3 or 4 stone in it, I would not have been happy - but in a fat suit upholstering me, I was so used it. Then at around 5 stone, I realised I didn't have snoozes in the afternoon at the weekend, and was much more energetic. It's not a starightline loss - someweeks more than others and sometimes a week when the scales shifted a bit, my actual face and body really changed. Measure yourself as the inch loss is amazing too.

The fat cells are still there so you need to live sensibly and develop a new way of eating and living when you get to target. I weigh daily and have changed my habits. I still have Alizonne style salads at lunchtime and much smaller portions of meat etc than I would have had before I started Alizonne. A piece of meat the size of a pack of cards seems ample now.

My plan was to loose nearly 10 stone but I don't want a tummy tuck so have phased off after 8 instead of nearly 10 stone. The skin contraction seems great to 5 or 6 stone - but after that got much looser. I am already tightening up and continue with the endermologie monthly. It is a brutal fact that if you become very overweight, you have to live with the consequences afterwards. So I don't have a fairy tale tight body - but I do have an amazing figure (size 14/16) and look glowing. I tend to waft aroudn the house in a dressing gown and have a good cleavage still - but definitely need a bra for a good shape. I feel fine about swimming in the local pool and am generally happy with life.

I do recommend that you start now getting ready for the transformation. You aren't Bigmissus - you are someone who happens to be big and won't be very very soon. So get yourslef a new name! I have done a lot of work visualising accepting compliments and managing them. It may sound strange but I reinforce that it's me when I see myself in a store mirror or reflected in a window. It's essential that your mind catches up with your body. Your transformation will be so significant that you need stratgies to handle it. I didnt tell people I was doing AZ - I just said I was having protein 5 times a day, salads at lunchtime and veggies in the evening. That avoided prurient interest. I shared what I needed with friends and family if I was going to stay with them or eat at their houses so they could support me. I'd ask to make my special omlette and they'd cook veggies or make a salad that I could share with them. Even now, I smile and say I ate protein 5 times a day, saads at lunchtime and veggies in the evening.

I simply didn't believe I'd successfully shed the weight so I acted as if I would loose it. I just did what i was told, posted on the AZ and minimins forums and kept 100%. The concept of cheating is irrevelant - my mindset was to do it 100% - sometimes it was just one day or even one sachet at a time. I looked for hints and tips on managing life from other Alizonners. I got rid of 'clown' clothes I'd shrunk out of and bought interim clothes from supermarkets and charity shops so I always had a limited amount of reasonable fitting clothes. I think I had three bra fittings on the way down and had nice bras from ASDA. It really helps. Don't slop around in baggy stuff. Look after yourself now and act as if you are gorgeous.

I can't belive I have shed 6 clothes sizes in 8months. Now I'm at my revised target, it takes just as much application to continue the good habits of 5 meals a day, high protein and lots of veg as it does to shed the weight. I'm enjoying the freedoms of a more varied diet - however I have some major changes.

I like the Dukan approach that you are on a sort of week's probation for each lb you've lost. If I had done Dukan, my consolidation or probation period would be nearly 2 years. So I believe I need vigilance for the next couple of years (and forever probably) to establish my new way of living and eating.

So I rarely drink and rarely eat puddings. I'm low on carb, high on veggies and salad, high on protein and reduce the fat I use in cooking. Although I eat meat fat paleo style, I am sparse with olive oil and cook the lower fat way. i dont use butter or spread if I have a slice of bread and ham for my continental breakfast. I often eat low fat yogurt - which tastes very creamy to me now and is high in protein.

Good luck everyone and see you on the AZ forum where you can read my journey.

Ali

AJJHF · 22/10/2012 17:01

Well I start my programme on Wednesday from the Leeds clinic. Excited to get going, but a little apprehensive with some of the restricstions I've read on here - only black coffee, no dilute cordial etc. No doubt I will find out more on Wednesday. Realistically people, what can I hope to lose in the first week? I am around 14st and 5ft 2 tall. Exciting times ahead - I HOPE!

Emjh86 · 28/10/2012 08:34

Hi. I'm hopefully starting Alizonne at the beginning of January (I want to enjoy Christmas and New Year first). I've had my metabolism checked to try to calorie count until then and it was 1720. I have approximately 6.5 stone to lose. I was just wondering what other people's metabolism was and how much they lost/how quickly they lost it?
So excited to start.

mrspannie · 30/10/2012 07:56

After 31 weeks on Alizonne, I have now completed my journey.

38 kg (over 6 stone) gone for ever.

Down to a size 10 and feeling like I've turned back the clock some 25 years.

My BMI has gone from 38.77 to 24.5.

Needless to say - I'm over the moon. :)

During the last 6 weeks or so I have been "phasing off" so my weight has had a chance to stabilise and gradually all the food groups have been re-introduced. I've found the lengthy phasing off period is good psychologically as well as physically and I now feel ready to face challenges on my own.

I took my medgem test at the end of the programme (the medgem tells me how many calories I can have each day after Alizonne without gaining weight) and I got a reading of 1510. I can certainly live very happily on that now that Alizonne has re-educated my taste buds.

So, going forwards it's a case of sensible eating plus the odd treat, calorie counting on My Fitness Pal, staying organised in relation to food, continued exercise and a monthly LPG appointment / weigh-in with the clinic (for the next year). I've booked two appointments this side of Christmas as I was worried the upcoming festivities might trip me up.

I'm going to do everything I possibly can to ensure that this weight loss is a permanent success story. Going back to my old ways is not an option.

Very best wishes for those of you starting out or considering a big weight loss journey. It's been tough but SO worth it.

AJJHF · 30/10/2012 13:28

mrspannie, first of all many, many congratulations and pats on the back, high fives! You deserve them all. I have read your 'blog' on the AZ site and it was fantastic following the highs, and occasional lows of you journey. You have a real talent for writing, perhaps you should turn your AZ journey into a book!

I have my first weigh-in tomorrow so we shall see. I feel like I have settled in to the diet well, just not keen on the tablets and those horrible ampules that taste like the ocean.

Good luck for the future, I'm sure you will be fine with the levels of determination you have shown thus far.
