oinker · 04/11/2008 18:27

Just seen this advertised in National Press.

Has anyone ever tried it?

Is it pricey?

More to the point, Does it really work?

I'm intrigued..... I had never heard of this programme before...

hey guys , despite being on the alizonne 4 just over a week now still feeling bit tired and exhausted. I tried the paste sachet 2day. followed instructions n it tasted like rubber, so i boiled for longa and it did get softer, seasoned well. added plenty of lemon 2 pasta sauce and stir fried sum veg 2 add 2 da pasta n i really enjoyed it :)
Didnt like the pancake with choc spread and not 2 fond of the fine herbs omlette so i swapped a few of my sachets yesterday and got a nice variety of different things this week..

I think ur right Agal-
I am strugling to have my 2 litres of water a day. I try my best and i have told the clinic n they said just do ur best and at least try getting 1.5 litres a day, that is probly 1 of the reasons y i found the treatments very painfull and i am still sore 4rm the hoovering treatment 2day.

Megemmal- my metabolic rate was 2235 so pretty hi. Doc said it was really good reading but im guessing it bcuz im 20 yrz old, so still bit young and metabolic rate slows down as u get older.. Also a tip with the quinton, Add it to ur sachet and u will not b able 2 tell the difference. Doc told me 2 do this and i am so glad bcuz i had it 1nce on its own and it was like drinkin sea water.. YUK! hope that helps. mmm u will like the sheeps cheese with mushroom, my favourite!

Mrspannie- i am very happy about my w8 loss. I didnt expect it 2 b as good.. Thanks 4 the potato pie recipe, will defo b having that l8r. Will try the paracetamol b4 treatment and im hopeing 2 grow 2 like the treatments just like i have with the food! I need 2 get AZ forum password! :) Thanks 4 the support.

i will keep u updated
gud luk every1

Hi Ali, I agree with you about the monitoring. I figure if I am going to put this much time, energy and money into loosing the weight then I am going to do everything I can to keep it off.

I will admit that I also find the hoovering quite painful especially in the tummy area. The first time I dis have to ask for it to be turned down but was able to get through the second treatment. I am hoping it will get easier each week.

Worrals · 01/05/2012 22:16

Ali,

Well done on your wonderful success.

It isn't so much the long journey although it would take a couple of hours each way; I just can't work out how it would fit into my life as I have business lunches and formal dinners to attend and wonder how I would manage - especially as the host!

I can hardly produce a shake in a restaurant and expect my guests to feel comfortable ordering a meal.

I can't be the only one in this position. How do others deal with this?

Worrals

AGal · 03/05/2012 00:13

Good evening, All.

Megemmal:
I make up the omlettes the day before- I added a bit more water, lots of parsley, chives or spring onion greens and undercooked as that made a better texture, I thought. I prefer the smoked bacon one. I roll it up and cut into fingers and put it into a lock and lock box so I can eat it on the go. I also like potato pie with extra fresh herbs as a sort of couscous. Now I tend to have a shake after a salad or cucumber and fennel crudite if I'm out and about.

I don't find the cheese is like feta - more like very mild boursin without the garlic. It does make a good creamy sauce for mushrooms and other veg - like courgette ribbons. I cook mushrooms with water in the oven (weigh them before cooking) and then freeze some. I also add mushrooms to omlettes.

Malik:
Fab metabolic rate. That's good.

If you continue feeling tired talk to the clinic or your therapist when you go in, and ask their advice. Many of us have a few days feeling tired. I've had two lots of tiredness, and the GP was helpful. The clinic will give you the password - see you there soon!

Madeleine:
I've got to like the hoovering and even ask for it to be higher in some places. So you may well grow to like it....

Worrals

Good question. You certainly aren't the only one.

I do much less entertaining now than I used to. It is possible and in fact probably easier when you are hosting as you can choose a venue where the kitchen will look after you. Also - you'll probably want to change sandwich lunches in the office to ones where they also provide a green salad. You can drink shakes in a big coffee mug so no one is much the wiser.

I follow Disappearing Dawn's lead re eating out. Have you seen her blog? Call the restaurant or whoever is catering and find out if they'll be happy to meet your dietary needs. I never tell them I'm doing a vlcd, and have my shakes before. I've even necked shakes in the ladies loo, or a coffee shop in an evening dress......you need a biggish handbag to slip it away.

I then follow up with an email to the person I spoke to (see the one on Dawn's website) outlining what they can use, with some ideas. I hate green beans & rhubarb so have my own amended version with a link to a Manchester restaurant's Alizonne page.

I don't explain why my diet is different and every time the staff have accommodated me without comment. Indeed the chefs seem to like the challenge. Mostly they get it right! Occasionally they get overenthusiastic and some beetroot or something else not on the Phase 1 list appears on the plate - so I leave that. If I'm eating there again, I'll thank them, and reiterate what my doctor has specified so it doesn't happen again. I always thank them. In Phase 2 (once 60% of weight shed), I'll be able to add in protein. If people ask, I tell them I have a medical problem and would be grateful for their help. I don't go into detail.

The most bizarre thing is not drinking alcohol. I have sparkling water with ice and a slice of lime most of the time. At home, I'll have diet ginger beer. I am astonished that I haven't had alcohol since December....I think I'll drink much less when I'm at goal as alcohol is empty calories - and probably be much more choosy about what I do drink.

One new Alizonner has just had a celebration weekend with her family in Paris. Her family talked to the French chef who made some lovely veggie delights for her. People get more confident about managing travel and eating out as they learn how to make it work well for them. Deviating from the programme doesn't work - as it seems to make it more difficult to stay on track afterwards.

I've had delicious meals - with lovely salads or broccoli soup to start (didn't know I liked broccoli soup until I started Alizonne). The soup is made with water - who knew that broccoli and water and sesaonings whizzed up is palatable? I've also had beautifully presented main meals based on portabello mushrooms, Aubergines, courgettes or fennel - good kitchens can do some great things within the constraints.

I'm also confident enough now to do lunchtime meals without much prep - most places will do a large green salad, with olive oil - so if I know my companions, I make sure we go somewhere like an italian or lebanese restaurant as they are usually flexible. Mass catering establishments like Leon don't seem to be able to do salads without nuts/fish/meat and/or cheese - so don't work.

I've also learnt to decline birthday cakes etc gracefully.

The biggest issue was remembering to say no to the bread basket and to remember not to graze the olives or pre dinner nibbles. Good new habits to learn!

So - I suppose it depends how fat you are, how comfortable you are staying fat, what the consequences are if you don't take action now, and what alternatives you have. And how motivated you are - the weekly visits to the clinic are essential. Maybe some other method will suit you better?

Maybe your Fred will support you....see Changing habits using Fred www.minimins.com/bring-your-head-inside-your-body-will-follow/145230-changing-habits-using-fred.html . I only just read this thread - and found it articulated internal dialogue/decision making really well.

Depending on your metabolism, it take around a stone a month plus phasing off time - so alternatively, maybe there's a time in the year when it's easier to start as there's less sit down entertaining. No one notices at cocktail parties when you decline the food. When you've started loosing weight fast, and seen the ultrasound fat melting, it's easier to put yourself first and find ways to make eating out work ok.

I know it's much easier for me to tell you it's possible as I now know it works, and that's given me the confidence to ask for what I want. I've made it one of the most important things in my life and have committed myself 100% - so I ensure I arrange what I need to keep me on track. In the next few weeks, I have my step daughter's hen night and wedding weekend, my best friend's 50th birthday weekend and a Livery dinner. I've found that if I prepare, am confident and not apologetic, and act as a great host or good guest, people are really helpful and others don't worry and are happy to eat and drink well around me.

In fact, my biggest problem is having the right clothes as I don't want to spend lots of cash on clothes I know I'll shrink out of. So I shall be taking my £59 size 16 M&Co maxi dress to all sorts of lovely places in the next month.

Wow! This was a long post. I hope it helps. Good luck, Worrals, with whatever you decide to do.

hellooo every1 well done to everyone whose lost weight,

im on day 2 of the diet and i am soooooooooooo aggitated, this is soooo hard. im at the birmingham clinic i thought they were helpful but seems they aren't i can eat any of the veg , no advise on recipes and to top that they havent even given me all the supplements, im stuck with 5x boxes of drinnks struggling to come to terms with it and sooooooooo hungry (i thought i wasnt meant to be hungry???) and have smellllly breath!!!! i didnt get any food sachets only drinks because thats what they advised me i am literallyyy upset please if anyone has any good recipes for the veg email me on [email protected]

AGal · 07/05/2012 10:09

Dear xnisax,

Take a deep breath - and then another. If you have the Alizonne forum password, then come and join us there and we'll help you. You'll also see how others have had tough starts then got to grips with it, and are getting great results.

In the meantime, don't worry about the drinks sachets - many people live just on drinks. I have one friend who did 5 months on hot chocolate alone. You'll be able to call the clinic tomorrow and sort out the supplements and pick up some mixed sachets that make food.

Your breath will be smelly as you are in ketosis and loosing weight. So that's a good sign. Brush your teeth several times a day and keep drinking the water - little and often. Drinking water also helps you with hunger. Have tea or coffee, with sweetener if you need it. Now you have old habits that make you mentally hungry. So keep yourself fully with warm drinks, water and soon your lunch time salad.

When you are feeling calmer, write a long list of why you have decided to do Alizonne. What do you want? I mean a long list. Keep writing until you have 60 or 70 reasons. If they are negative (ie I don't want to sweat when I'm walking with the family, I don't want top ask for a lap extension belt on the plane) then change then to positives - I want to enjoy walking easily and comfortably with my family. or I want to play hide and seek and run with the kids, or I want to fit comfortably and easily in the plane seat. Read and re-read them regularly reminding yourself why this is more important than what you had.

You should have a light blue file - which has recipes in it. There are unlimited salads and veggies on a list and others on the max 200g a day list.At lunch you have a green salad with a little olive oil and vinegar dressing. You can add mustard powder and sweetener if you like it. Have a big salad - it will fill you up.

If you don't normally eat salad think of it as medicine that will help you get well. I often have cos lettuce, with cucumber and fennel cut up small and flat leaf parsley. Chew it and congratulate yourself on making the commitment to be a healthy weight. You can have some tomato but then you've used some of the 200g allowance you use for dinner. So I usually keep the 200g for supper. I make the aubergine curry without the tomato and yogurt - and then use the 200g allowance for cauliflower rice (Google it), swede chips with paprika or courgettes with garlic sauce. I also cook fennel and have it with some tomato.

You can also make a soup from broccolli and spring onion tops, a bit of garlic salt and pepper. Overcook the broccolli and then whizz together until smooth.

Post back here if you don't have the forum password.

Take care,

Ali

malik21 · 08/05/2012 16:51

hey nisa, nice 2 hear 4rm u, i am also at the birmingham clinic so i might c u there 1 day? i have just started week 3: did u speak 2 jane at the bham clinic? shes wonderfull, she explained 2 me all about the diet.
The doc only goes thru how the diet works really and it is pretty brief, there is alot of info 2 take in so sit down, open up ur blue book and read thru everything, try and understand how u will have 2 do things whilst on this diet. If u dnt understand its really important 4 u 2 ask the clinic. I learnt how 2 make the food 4rm the dvd they gave me... so start 4rm there

I have 2 say they also did the same with me i wasnt given my password 4 the forum till a week after. I think its bcuz they just want u 2 get used 2 understanding how the diet works 1st bcuz the Alizonne forum is full of recipes but even i would get confused after reading all that info.

I felt exactly the same on day 1 as u did, (i didnt feel hungry) but i was completely confused and i thought im doing it all wrong and its not going 2 work... i was going 2 give up after day 2 but then Ali, daislylondon and few other ppl on here advised me on wot 2 do and im so happy they got me thru my 1st days, i wouldnt have dun it without them. DW i wasnt also given the full supplements, but dont worry this should not effect anything. I am missing the vitamin tabs...

Believe me it does get better... Probly the reason ur feeling hungry is ur not eating ur sachets on time (every 2-4 hours) and also ur not having enuf veg? The veg is a key 2 ur diet. Chek ur veg 4rm the unlimited and limited list. If ur confused about veg: start of with the ones u like (or if u dnt like any) give them a try..

I wasnt advised 2 have drinks (sachets), i chose my own sachets bcuz i new wot 2 get after c'in all the responses 2 foods 4 newbies on this website. If u r a newbie i would have advised u 2 get : vanilla sachet, hot choc, feta sheeps mouse, mushroom soup, and potato pie... and an extra sachet just incase u dont like sumthing, that way u wont b stuk with just wot u have... These sachets r very poular 4 ppl hu have just started the diet and the potato pie and sheeps cheese go very well with veg and u cud try this 4 ur lunch or dinner.

Im not fond of the drinks and i can probly understand y ur feeling really hungry bcuz u cant really eat veg with drinks, Its nice 2 have sumthin filling with ur veg (sachet). If its really getting 2 u that bad i would say go bak into the clinic and say u want 2 swap the drink 4 sumthin else.

Remember read thru ur blu book, not 1nce but 2 3 times 2 understand it. Look at the AZ dvd 2 understnad how 2 make the food, there r also recipes and clear instructions on there.
Dont give up, i was going 2 give up and 2 weeks l8r i am a stone down... just listen 2 agals advise, she has been thru all the ups and downs of AZ and she is very experienced.

Ask for ur password. fone them up and they will give it 2 u str8 away, if u dnt ask u dnt get, let me no how things r going and gud luk with the diet
Let me no if u still dont understand a few things and i could try my best 2 helps u

Malik

5 days to go till my consultation - and I really can't wait! its been a long time to wait and I now just want to get started: soooooooo excited for Monday!!!

AGal · 10/05/2012 08:42

Wow - time has past fast, Sky. Good luck for your appointment. Make sure you get the password for the forum as there's lots of good stuff there which will help you.

This week has been a slower week - down 2.6lbs - so still inwards and downwards - and more movement in as my trews are much looser at the waist. The size 16 linen trews now do up OK and will be fine for next week's wedding. I hope the jeans will be too - but they are too tight at the mo. Total loss 5 3/4 stone in 21 weeks.

Worrals · 10/05/2012 13:20

Hi Ali,

Thank you so much for such a considered response. Apologies for the late reply as I have been away.

I am looking at my diary and trying to arrange essential business appontments in the next couple of months so that I can seriously think about starting in the summer.

I must admit that I am nervous. I have failed at every other diet - not because I didn't follow the diet - and the prospect of yet another failure is daunting.

Like you, I am successful in every other area of my life and my one huge (!) failure is managing my weight. It isn't as though I don't know what to do! I do and, most of the time, I do it!

I am so appreciative of your advice.

AGal · 10/05/2012 17:00

Worrals

Lovely to hear from you.

I so know that feeling. How can one be so capable and be fat? It pushes all those 'fat= lazy' etc buttons for me. And I used to have the mindset that it was impossible to sort it out. I am also aware that I don't 'look the part' and it has got in the way of good work opportunities.

However, given the developed world is getting fatter all the time, I think the science is not as simple as lower input, more exercise and sort your mind. I think the foods available don't serve us - and am very attracted to the real food movement especially Paleo - ie eating to be a caveman. I started and was getting some good results but was scared I couldn't sustain it and also put off by the time it would take to get thin.

So I was really pleased to find Alizonne - as it does work fast and with the medical reviews is safe, too. So I wish for you a wonderful Alizonne transformation, too. If you do what they tell you to do, and ask anytime you need help or are struggling, you will be as amazed as I am that we repeated failures can succeed.

I do recommend that you go into stealth mode, and just get the support form your nearest and dearest - if you need it. So I discussed it with my husband and told two really close friends in the weeks after I started. I didn't go into details with my friends and I knew they wouldn't sabotage me. When I went to their houses, they knew what I needed and let me make an Alizonne ommlette or prep a salad or veg in line with the programme. I didnt even tell my mum or DMIL. I just told them I was doing a regime and what I needed. They are both in their 80s - so I would bring my own veg/salads etc.

It's hard to believe at first that it will work - but as time passes the realisation dawns that it will. There's a saying on the AZ Forum - Believe and achieve. So when you start don't polish your doubts, just do what they tell you and see the results, trusting it will work. The fab thing about the start up tests is that they know if you'll shed fast or slow so you will know what to expect. It is also expensive so that's added motivation.

I still don't talk a lot about it as it's my business. It's now so obvious - I am already transformed so people do ask. I just say I eat protein 5 times a day, salad at lunch and veggies in the evening. I zip it and don't say a lot. I do share with larger people who ask me direct questions.

Keep me briefed on what you decide to do - and happy to answer any questions.

Ali

Worrals · 11/05/2012 09:56

Hello lovely Ali,

You have no idea how helpful you have been but I do thank you.

Several of your comments hit my buttons and I kept reading, over and over, your posts.

The result is that I have spent time with my diary, moving appointments involving food forwards telling everyone that I will be too busy later to lunch or dine. I have opted out of one seminar and am trying to wriggle out of another.

My first appointment with the doctor and for blood tests is scheduled for 16 June and I plan to start the diet on 7 July.

I know there is a short delay between seeing the doctor and the start of the plan but that is so that I will have a few weeks to really concentrate on getting to grips with the plan.

Meanwhile, I intend to read through all the posts here, on Minimins and on the Alizonne site and start to compile a book of recipes that Alizonners have kindly posted. I am sure that will help through the early days.

I am reading a book called Eating Less by Gillian Riley which is interesting and have ordered The Gabriel Method from Amazon.

Any ideas for preparing for the diet will be most welcome.

I need to start weaning myself off red wine so the lack of it isn't so much of a shock! LOL.

AGal · 11/05/2012 19:47

It's a pleasure. It's therapeutic to focus on why this works and how I'm doing. I wish I'd had more info because I would have started it earlier if I'd understood more how it worked in real life. Also the food photos on the website looked so disgusting, I didn't really understand you could have lots of salad and veg. It makes it easy to do it and visit friends/family as they see you eating healthy stuff so don't get worried about you existing on just shakes.

I've also been thinking a lot about what my new way of eating and living will be when I'm at target - hence those two books. I hope you like them too. They don't support the vlcd approach - but do differ from the received wisdom on 'dieting' - I find much of value in them.

I was working at home - so had much less entertaining than before - and started just before Xmas but after some Xmas parties so didn't have to reorganise my life. I went to a 2 day seminar Day 6&7 - and did duck out of the dinner. I would probably have gone if they hadn't ended up going out so late. I needed to eat so ducked out.

I didn't prepare! I didn't go to excess or deliberately eat favourite foods either. I didn't want to start from a place of scarcity - ie thinking I was moving into a place of deprivation. The only change I made was to ask my DH if he'd be happy for us to start our Xmas cake early. I did have a daily slice for 10 days and times my start date after an Xmas celebration dinner. I didn't drink much there as I did not want to start with a hangover. So I started 10 days before Xmas. We had a quiet day a deux at home - which helped. DH had a chicken breast with parma ham and cheese polus trimmings. I cooked. He said he was happy not to have an excess of Xmas food around.

I did have to ask him to secrete the Xmas cake as the marzipan was calling me. Apart from that amazingly I have ignored things that I previously would have scoffed. A month or so in, DH said he didn't want to have sweet treats in the house - so that has also helped.

So I'd prepare by just being moderate and not binge/celebrate (and add weight therefore cost). I'd do some stealth things - like park the farthest end of a car park and walk up/down some stairs instead of taking the lift if you can manage that.

Does the seminar have a sit down lunch? if so, you can simply order a big green salad in advance. There's actually a mail on Disappearing Dawn - see disappearingdawn.blogspot.co.uk/p/restaurant-request.html. I've amended it to put the things I like at the top of the columns and have deleted runner beans cos I loathe them! I also ask for oil and lemon or vinegar on the side if they serve me a salad - as it's easier to control the oil.

I have used it at seminars, restaurants and hotels. I talk to the manager of the venue first - then if they are happy to help me, send the mail. I have got over embarrassment of being fat and eating healthy - I suppose because I have had great results. People don't tend to ask why you are having something different - and are often jealous cos you have a great salad. So if I need to respond or they ask, I just say the main course doesn't agree with me, or I've had a problem - so asked for something special. I'm very vague!!

Now I've been brave enough to go to a suitable restaurant (an independent italian or lebanese restaurant for example - where they'll have fresh salad stuff and raw courgettes) and specify what I want on arrival when I've had impromptu lunch invitations.

But it is best to ask in advance because the kitchen usually enjoys doing something different and healthy.

I now love salads - when I used just have it occasionally. Not sure why I've changed. I do make more of an effort with our salads now - a variety of ingredients sometimes including very thinly sliced fennel, celery and or cucumber plus lots of flat leaved parsley. It looks pretty. I also often add half or quarter of a tomato - out of the 200g allowance, so slightly less 200g veg in the evening. DH has protein with his salads - hard boiled eggs, some some ham or chicken or fish and maybe croutons/parmesan cheese and mayo ( a sort of cheat's caesar) or some bacon. Most days I'm at home for lunch, he'll have a salad too. I often have a potato pie or omlette sachet with extra herbs - as a savoury hot think with the salad

Btw, I haven't felt deprived and I have chocolate most days...with the plain choc desert as a shake. I've learnt to embrace being at social events without alcohol, and pat myself on the back. So in the process of shedding, I'm learning some great new habits.

Take care - the next weeks will fly by.

Thanks Ali,

I am apprehensive but keen to start. I keep thinking of all the clothes in wardrobes which will - one day - fit me, especially the unworn ones I bought thinking I would slim into them!! LOL.

I was thinking of buying the blender recommended by Suzanne on the Alizonne Forum (Kenwood Smoothie To Go SB055) as I think it would help with taking food to work but then I read somewhere that shakes are best whisked and not blended so not sure about it now!

Your DH sounds so supportive which must be such a bonus. I live alone now so that makes it easier on one level as I won't have to cook for anyone else. Nobody to keep me on track though! I haven't told anyone and will try to keep it that way for as long as possible.

AGal · 12/05/2012 13:12

Fab that you have clothes already> I'm finding it challenging to plan for the wedding next weekend as I'm through all the clothes I already had. I am lurking in our charity shops - but the main populace is 'mature' and I'm not that into man made fabrics or Alexon! I did find a good wrap around brown cardigan yesterday - result!

You don't need a blender. I mix food sachets with a fork in a bowl, and use the shaker they give you for all my shakes. I have a blender and magimix with a small bowl - and have never used them. I occasionally use my hand held mixer with just one whisk in, in a pyrex jug to blend a desert sachet as a desert - which makes it creamy. I would wait and see if you like the taste with a fork , and then buy one if you want one.

It seems to me that if you do buy a blender you might want to get one of those soup ones - as you can cook and make veg soups. Broccolli is a free veg - and good whizzed well cooked into various soup sachets. You could cook and whizz in one of those soup blenders. It would also be useful when you are goal too. They can also usually crush ice - which I think will be nice if it's hot this summer.

My mum gave me my blender - it's a Thermomix. She used to make soup in daily. She bought another one when the old Thermomix needed to go and be serviced so I lucked out and got her old one. It's probably 20 years old - but following a service, it's as good as new. I would never have bought one - as even reconditioned ones on ebay are £350+. However I would replace it now if it broke and couldn't be mended. You often see them in background in commercial kitchens as they are ace at sauces and all sorts. I knead bread, crush ice and made smoothies in it too.

I would buy a good spatula or two - for scraping out bowls - if you don't have ones you like using. I have a little one that's great to scrap a cereal bowl size mixing bowl. I also cook most sachets on the stove - good heavy small and large non stick frying pans are also essential. Others often use the oven and cook muffins - so you might want a muffin tin. The silicon rubber ones are best. Also a silicon sheet for the pizza mix - it sticks to regular trays.

I travel with a small kitchen knife in a sheath - so I can cut cucumber or fennel so I can have my lunchtime salad when travelling and unable to take a mixed salad with me. You'll need containers to take your salad to work - and bottles to make up your salad dressing at home and work. There's a dressing thread on the forum.

When I'm away, I just take my shaker and shake on the go - no need to pre mix with blenders. Just shake and you are ready. The protein is great quality and mixes up really well. I think there are a few vegetarian sachets are less mixable as they have soya. I haven't tried the strawberry - but I hear that's a bit grainy. The hazelnut praline cereal/desert is soya - but I don't find it grainy.

I have taken a lock and lock small box and mixed up an omlette and then handed it over to a b&B landlady to have a cooked breakfast on a weekend away. In a hotel, if I want to join others in a cooked breakfast, I just give them the sachet and tell them to make it up with whatever the water amount is, and to make with a spray of oil in the pan.

I also recommend writing a really really long list of reasons you want to be at a healthy weight - 60 or 70 of them. And any that are negative, turn around into positives ie not I don't want to have to have a lap extension belt on planes would become I want to fit comfortably and easily into an economy seat. Then you can review them daily so if you need motivation, it reminds you about what you want. It's funny - because already some things on my list are already true - being able to do my walking boot laces up easily. Yeaaaa!

have a great weekend

PS: also clear everything out of your cupboards that might tempt you!

Hello Ali,

Grrr!!! Just typed a long reply to you and - for no apparent reason - lost it. Here goes again but probably a lot briefer!

I am fascinated by the news of a gadget I don't have. I love gadgets! However, cooking for one and about to start Alizonne probably isn't the best time to invest in a Thermomix. Perhaps an expensive (!) gift to myself if I get to goal?

I was considering an Actifry until I heard that they have a tendancy to burst into flames.

I will research the soup makers although I already have a Kenwood Chef with a blender - I just thought the Smoothy to Go would be handier for making and taking drinks to work.

Thanks for all the other tips. It is so good to hear things from someone who has walked the walk.

Be careful with that knife - don't want to have to visit you in prison if you are convicted of carrying an offensive weapon! LOL.

I will have a go at writing the reasons but I can't imagine getting up to 60 or 70. I doubt if I have ever in my life had more than one or two reasons to do - or not to do anything. LOL.

Fewer than five weeks to first appointment and eight to starting the diet.

Hi everyone on the Alizonne diet. I started 2 weeks ago and wondered if any of you who have done it or are doing it have any spare sachets they don't want? If you do I'd be happy to buy them from you. Please email me at [email protected] and I'll get right back to you :)

So far I've lost a stone in just over 2 weeks so I'm very happy but have 5 stone more to go!

Well done JG!

What a fantastic start. I am looking forward to joining you in the next few weeks when I start Alizonne.

To lose a stone in a couple of weeks is just a dream to me.
