Pink, I have always been fat too and agree it is nice to be on a thread that includes other larger ladies.

RG - we run a B&B and have been doing so since he was 8 days old, I do breakfast DH does rooms. We did manange a fortnight off when the organisers of a locally held festivale rented our house for a fortnight, but I am really looking forward to going on holiday in November. Must get his passprt photos done next week.

Just had supper which was lovely, bonelss chicken thighs , marinated in rosemary, garlic, olive oil and white wine, with rice and salad.

Pink - Wow, what a difference those ladies have made to themselves!! I have before/after/before pictures somewhere but i think they're shoved in the loft somewhere. If i do find one, i'll scan it and be brave enough to show you all lol.

Five - blimey, breakfast times must be manic in your house! I dont know how you do it with a baby too! Your dinner sounds lovely!

I have very few photos of me now - any I have were quite stragetically done - ie standing behind dh and carrying ds

AGs thats an amazing amount of weight lost. Do you feel differebtly about yourself now - I mean have more confidence etc?

I have been quite fat for the last 7-8 years - time to change!

Pink, when did you notice a different in your clothes? Does any of your stuff you were wearing 2 months ago fit you now?

Ags · 05/08/2008 22:56

Claire, I have always been fat so it is amazing to be a relatively 'normal' size. I have never lacked confidence thankfully so am no different in that respect. But I do feel pretty gorgeous and sorting out and bagging up all my big clothes was brilliant. I kept my largest jeans (size 26) and a top (size 28) to remind myself what not to do in the future.

When I get to a size 16 I promise I will post some before and after pics for all my mates on this thread. I am still not ready to do it yet.

I still have another 4 stone to lose to get to goal but I am really happy with how it has gone so far and still feel just as motivated (if not more).

If Pink is anything to go by, those tablets must really be helpful and it sounds like they are working for you already. Just keep posting good days and bad. Someone will always be around to talk and encourage you.

Everyone, thanks for the lovely comments and encouragement.

Ags · 05/08/2008 23:07

Apologies to all you oldies who are bored stupid by my diet tips! But I thought I would post this again for the newbies. These are my top tips that have helped me enormously.

  1. I have had two yummy children and don't want any more. So in a way I feel I am ready and my body is mine and won't be affected by pregnancy again.
  1. I eat only what I like. I hate feeling deprived so that means a large portion of something delicious. I try not to waste points on anything that will not taste nice.
  1. I always have a treat every day. Mostly a Crunchie which I leave til night time. Children asleep, me with my Crunchie and cup of coffee. Bliss.
  1. I do not apologise for what I eat. Previously I would always try to 'fit in' and fool myself that it would be rude not to eat the cakes/chocolate/take away etc. I am more than happy to be in the company of people who eat them, indeed I am happy to serve them but I don't eat them anymore.
  1. I have recognised that I could excuse every single emotion, occasion, bad day, good day, morning, afternoon, evening as an excuse to eat unhealthily. So, I have stopped saying things like "this was a bad week because I went to a wedding". Instead, I try to save points through the week, indulge in whatever I feel like at the event and then get straight back to healthy eating the next day. If I stay the same that week or only lose a half I have done well.
  1. I tend to do the 'breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper' thing. It seems to suit my digestion to eat lightly after 6pm.
  1. I started at 21 stones 4 pounds so I have a very large amount of weight to lose - almost 10 stones to get inside my healthy weight range! I have tended to focus only on my interim goals (indeed initially my 10% seemed too big a goal to focus on) like each half stone, dropping from one stone to another (ie going from 18stone 1 to 17 stone 13), going up another digit in pounds lost (ie going from 48 pounds lost to 51 pounds lost). If there is a numerical goal to be found, I will find it. I also keep a spreadsheet in excel of my weekly weight loss with the milestones highlighted and a projection of future weight loss based on an average 2 lb loss per week. I know, completely sad but this all spurs me along.
  1. I write off a bad day and get straight back into the good eating. I don't focus on what I already ate and concentrate instead, on saving points to make up for it.
Ags · 05/08/2008 23:10

Also, RG, just wanted to say how much I admire you for attacking this bloody weight loss again. It is not easy so don't put yourself down. You are doing what you can and going back to work with a new baby etc. etc. is bloody hard never mind nibbling on a lettuce leaf at the same time!

KelaH · 06/08/2008 07:34

RG - wow, that is so impressive that you lost all that weight before - gives me inspiration - and at least you know you have done it before and so can again - keep telling yourself that.

Pink - no, don't worry it didn't sound like you were telling me off, I had already been told the same thing by someone on another thread I was doing some research on it last night and apparently 7% of women get it in the year after giving birth, and in those cases it usually clears up without treatment - result!!!

ChirpyGirl · 06/08/2008 07:36

Thanks for those tips Ags, I am trying to not 'cut things out' but just swap them over if that makes sense.

My mum and my sister both have wheat intolerances and I haven't eaten bread for awhile (could get through half a loaf easy in a day) which I hope I will discover next week has made a difference!

Posting and running as had massive lie in as girls didn't wake until 5 mins ago...feel sooo much more human today!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 06/08/2008 08:22

Ags - thank you for the tips. I have done my spread sheet and highlighted goals, have 16ibs to first goal which is pre preg weight for DC no2

PinkChick · 06/08/2008 09:23

Morning everyone..your list of advice is fab Ags, i do exactly same as you and have just realised that pretending to ourselves is the most ridiculous thing to do!, so if i want something, i asses whether its bad or not, wether ill have it anyway and what ill do to counter act it if i do..no point saying "oh its only a small cake"..its a cake, ive ate a life time of cakes thats why im this way now..if i want it i eat it, but i think about it first and thats what helps now!

havent had chance to reply to everyone as we're off to library and maybe cafe later (they have a fab healthy option menu instea dof just chips and burgers)..so more walking, am putting trainers on to pick up the pace

Have done my meal planning and have online shopped (helps not buying naughty things).

PinkChick · 06/08/2008 13:49

HI all..just bee for long walk to library with LO's and took them for lunch at leisure centre cafe afterwards...instead of my usual big bite cheese burger chip and coleslaw, i got a jacket potato, no butter, a litle grated cheese and side salad..am stuffed...although afterwards (being TOTM) i REALLY wanted a choc bar...but as i was pondering over it, i saw a pic of fern britten on a mag talking about her gastric band and it stopped me...so thanks fern

Ack, crappy day. HAd a slice of toast for breakfast and felt like crap all day so I think I am going to cut all wheat for a few days as both my mum and one of my sisters are wheat intolerant. Just feel exhausted and as if I could fall asleep any second even though I had more sleep last night than I have had for ages!
Not going to think about what else I ate today as I needed sugar rush
start again tomorrow!

On a better note I am going to stay with my mum next week for 6 days so will be much easier to keep on top of things....!

(Oh, and I got some jeans I ordered today and I need to send them back as a 22 is faaaaar too big (I jumped and they fell down, woohoo!) so not all bad, I suppose...)

ChirpyGirl · 06/08/2008 19:22

Sorry, and well done PC!
5gomad, I have been meal planning for a couple fo weeks now, As a result you can normally find me wandering the kitchen openeing cupboards at about 9pm looking for something nice, and then giving up and having an apple, result!

jaz236 · 06/08/2008 21:38

This threads getting big again unlike our wiats - goodnite ladies xxx

Clairex · 06/08/2008 22:23

Thanks for the tips Ags, it great to get some new ideas. I feel so tired tonight, had a really busy day today - looked after my 6 year old niece (ds is 6 too), we wnet to an indoor waterpark, Mcdonalds, then the park, then home for dinner - she'snot long gone home now!

Great news about the jeans Chirpy Girl - I can't wait to get some moments like that!

Well done girls for the meal planning - its something I must start doing. would help me a lot and help twith the momeny situation too.

pink - good on you for not having that choccie bar. Glad Fern worked some magic for you. I love Fern so much.

It's time for me to go to bed now, feel really tired at the moment - It must be the weather and being so busy with the holidays.

Oh just quickly - had 2 toast for brekkie, at lunch I had a kids meal at Mcds - cheeseburger and chips and a pitta bread and houmous for dinner. Feel fine now, not hungry at all.

Joined WW last night, weighed in at 16 stone 13.5 pounds - so will call that my starting weight. Went for a walk after too for 90 mins.

PinkChick · 07/08/2008 08:31

Pink, unless you had a small child strapped to your chest on the scales or your AF is seriously bloating, I'm guessing you mean 14st 11 1/2!!!!!!

Ags · 07/08/2008 09:01

Five, well done on the meal planning and online shop. It really does help not having the lovely things winking at you from the shelves!!

Chirpy, never mind about yesterday! Fantastic news about the jeans. Don't you just love when that happens?!

PinkChick · 07/08/2008 10:12

LOL GOD YES !!! 14st 11 1/2 ..god im not THAT bloated

Hi everyone

Just reporting in! I was 7.5 points under yesterday as i'd had a bit of a manic day. Cant believe that as i normally go over by 1 or 2 points on most days!! God knows how i'll survive when i get to 18/20 points a day!!

I am at work today and bored stupid. No work to do as usual. I'd much rather be at home with my little angel!!

PinkChick · 07/08/2008 19:40

hullo...hows everyone been today?

was work ok RG?, hope so and well done for styaing well under your points

have had 5 children here all day since 7.30 so my eating was a bit unplanned, ie: didnt get time for it!..this morning i had branflakes with ss milk..lunch was 1 slice of toast(which was what dd left as i was too busy dishing food and deserts up for the LO's) so by time i finish im starving and have now just ahd two slices of margarita (frozen) pizza and a mini corn on cob..got builder coming in 15 mins for argument about the crap work he's done, what we are prepared to pay him and am very stressed over it, so neeed something in my belly quick..havent been a pig and its been hard being TOTm as well, but will have to pull my socks up tomorrow, just one and dd tomorrow so easier to sort myself out at lunch time..wish me luck!
