Please can I join? I usually do about 5k and really want to up this.

I would be really interested in any tips for increasing steps.

Good Morning All ☀️
A day WFH at the desk today, but I am hoping to get out for a lunch break run today 🤩

Well done everyone!!
@OrientalPrinceInTheLandOfSoup love B&M 😆

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine did you run 6.5k? That's amazing!! I am hoping to work up to longer distances if I can keep the running habit going! I have never in my life run more than 5K!

Well done @Joolly2 the veggies is a tricky one isn't it, if you really don't like them ☹️

Of course, welcome @MoneyJo
I find getting the steps in earlier on in the day keeps the motivation high!
And once you start you find more ways to get extra steps in - parking in a further away car parking space, taking the steps instead of the lift. Sometimes I put the laundry away 1 item at a time so I end up traipsing backward and forwards around the house 🤣 or if items need to go upstairs I take one at a time! I know that one is stupid because it takes me longer to do the task 😂😂😂

Just made the 10k target yesterday. Midweek is always trickier for me as I am on my own with the children, and so can't go out for a walk when they're at home, and then I also find it hard to get on the treadmill too.

Managed a very brief outside walk this morning after school drop off and before work which has put me a bit ahead of where I usually am at this time of day. The Activity summary on my iPhone handily tells me if I am ahead or behind my typical step amount at each point in the day!

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 16/04/2026 12:48

@10kstepsaday yes!! I ran 6.5 k. I did counch to 5k at the start of the year and have moved on to a 10k training plan. So the 6.5k was an intrval run with 4 x 90 walking breaks. Still, i was very pleased with myself!

@MoneyJo I try and do a dedicated walk every day, even if its just 20 minutes in my lunch break. At work, i take the stairs not the lift. I walk to speak to colleagues ratger than teams or call. It all builds up.

That said, I havent even hit 3k today!!

MoneyJo · 16/04/2026 12:59

Thank you @10kstepsaday and @Illbefinejustbloodyfine
Working today and not getting many steps in but will try and have a walk once I finish.

10kstepsaday · 16/04/2026 18:16

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine amazing! I never knew there was a 10k plan! I did C25K last year and really enjoyed it! Then we had a big house love and lots of stress and I fell out of routine with everything. No we are a bit more settled in new house and new location, I am starting to find new routes and get out a bit more! I will have a look at the 10k plan! Thank you!!

@MoneyJo hope you are doing ok! We are all cheering you on!

This is me for today :)
Did another 30 min run @ lunch, was very enjoyable although I was more tired this time than before!
Going to do a 20 min YouTube stretch later to help my legs!

Evening all. Did a 5k run this morning but I was very slow.
@Illbefinejustbloodyfine6.5k is impressive ..where did you find the 10k plan?
Welcome @MoneyJo I also find that getting my steps in early is the way to go.
I'm going to walk in the morning ..I'm meeting a friend for breakfast as its her birthday so the plan is to be up at six and get moving. I also try and have a walk after tea, even if its only 15mins ..seems to help me sleep better.

MoneyJo · 16/04/2026 21:51

Thank you. Really busy day with work so I haven't got anywhere near 10k but I'm off tomorrow and going for a walk with a friend so that should help!

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 16/04/2026 22:30

So close!! Not bad considering, busy day at work.

@OrientalPrinceInTheLandOfSoup after I finished c25k I really lost motivation so ended up subscribing to Runna. You can tailor any plan, distance speed etc. I try to run 3 times a week and it gives me a variety of runs, easy, long, intervals etc. This all makes me sound like a proper runner. In reality, Im 48 and several stones overweight its a great app though!

Yesreallyitsme · 16/04/2026 22:52

Everyone is doing great! I’ve missed a few days posts but pleased to say I’ve managed at least 10k every day in April so far. Quite a walky day today.

Great work @MoneyJo. Just over 12k for me which for a work day is about as good as it gets at the moment.

11,225 steps yesterday. Pleased with that but, not so pleased with the chocolate bars I've had today. I just don't have any willpower when chocolate is around.
@10kstepsaday I'm still listening to the M.R podcasts, thanks again for the recommendation, they've become my wind down routine before bed.

10kstepsaday · 18/04/2026 10:33

@Joolly2I am the same around chocolate 🙃
I have recently bought some good recipe books which have lots of healthy version of treats, I am going to give them a try! Then I will snack on that instead of the chocolate and sweets.
This week I am going to make an apple and honey cake 😋

Morning...yesterday's steps were 11, 779 was out dancing last night though so probably got quite a few extra. I need a fit watch as that would have recorded all the dancing etc. Any recommendations of one that's not to complicated or expensive?

Heading out on an epic walk today!

Joolly2 · 18/04/2026 23:58

I made it to 11,705 steps and also did a lot of digging and weeding today. Tomorrow is going to be painful.
@Illbefinejustbloodyfine how did your epic walk go?
@10kstepsaday I rarely eat cake but I could try making some sort of oaty fruit bar. Why I don't think of these things for myself I don't know. I'll flick through some recipe books tomorrow.
