Hi everyone, sorry for the radio silence for the last couple of days, I keep remembering I haven't posted when I'm tucked up in bed.
My missing totals are 10,343, 13,790, and today is 11,900
Everyone is doing so well and our little band is growing. Welcome to all the new comers.

That’s a really good reframing @SilenceInside, it’s funny how we just assume we are ‘failing’ because of one or two disappointing days when in fact the real picture is great!

I’ve forgotten to post a couple of times, life has been manic. But the week has gone well and I really thank this thread for keeping me motivated 😊

Managed the 10k steps yesterday, just, so onwards and upwards!

Joolly2 · 11/04/2026 20:18

Good evening everyone. I am so tired today, I thought I'd better post now before I fall asleep. Today's total is 12,921, very pleased with that.

I shook my dogs lead tonight at 8pm whilst he was fast asleep on his bed , he jumped up like a rocket , Just half an hour , 2 laps of the park and went from 8k steps to 12, I didn’t hit 10 yesterday but have made up the deficit now 🙌

GentleIron · 11/04/2026 22:12

Back on it today!
@Onegramatatime I find that if I go as soon as I get up, while the DC are still asleep (still in the holidays) I can get a lot done. Walking is still my default, but it's a nice balance to get some weights or other upper body exercise done too.

A slightly better 10.8k yesterday, a lot of it was at a pretty fast pace as I was rushing around due to various travel related delays! Aim for today is to get back up to 11 or 12k plus to keep my monthly average up.

10kstepsaday · 12/04/2026 08:57

Hey Team how are we all?
Just catching up!! Well done everyone, all smashing it!
Friday I did 7.4k and yesterday 12k!
Friday was a v stressful day at work and I have been working through some anxiety about it all. Feeling better right now but hoping for a less stressful week this coming week.

Morning all ...is it top late to join? I've managed over 10k steps ,on 9 days of this month and hopefully today!
I've got about 2.5 stone to shift but am just hoping to get to under 13stone before my holiday in May .

GentleIron · 12/04/2026 19:02

@10kstepsaday I hope you're feeling more settled. Walking is my go-to when stressed, I find it makes everything better. I did a mad stomp earlier today after a morning of test marking, which got increasingly more and more frustrating (not so much the marking itself but more seeing the day pass by outside and being stuck indoors behind piles and piles of paper) and instantly felt all was right with the world.

Of course, Welcome @OrientalPrinceInTheLandOfSoup
I also have holiday in May, and counting down the days 😆

Thank you @GentleIron
Definitely I really love how walking out and about helps with my mental health/anxiety.

Thankyou @10kstepsaday😊
I have done just over 11k steps today, including an after tea march in the rain because I was lurking around 9k .
Early night for me now I was at a gig last night so am 😴

PeonyPatch · 12/04/2026 19:52

My average is 6,348 per day… it’s so hard when you work from home!! Xx

10kstepsaday · 12/04/2026 20:15

Well done @OrientalPrinceInTheLandOfSoup
Hope the gig was good 🤩

Yes @PeonyPatchagreed!! I WFH usually 2 days a week and those days are harder for me to hit target. Although now the weather is nicer, I do find it easier to go for a lunch time walk, sometimes just around the garden 😅

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 12/04/2026 20:40

12.75k steps for me today, thanks to getting out for a reasonable walk in the sunny but windy weather.

@PeonyPatch I WFH too, every day, and sometimes I only get my steps in because I’ve done treadmill walks rather than managing to get outside.

That’s a good idea. How long do you tend to do on the treadmill?

Yesreallyitsme · 12/04/2026 21:01

Agree with everyone re walking for mental health. A daily walk for me is my new non negotiable. Managed just over 12k today, very happy with that.
The day I will struggle this week is Wednesday, as I’ll be on a train for a large part of the day. Fingers crossed I can still find an opportunity for a walk.

SilenceInside · 12/04/2026 21:10

@PeonyPatch half an hour to an hour depending on what else is going on that day. Sometimes once in the morning before work and then also later in the evening.

Joolly2 · 12/04/2026 22:53

2,495 steps today. Woke up shivering and feeling I was coming down with something. I've spent the day on the sofa under a heated throw listening to an audio book. This evening I'm feeling a lot better so hopefully tomorrow I can make up for lost steps.

Onegramatatime · 13/04/2026 00:02

11,555 steps for me today.

@Joolly2 , hope you are better tomorrow.
@SilenceInside , i like a bit of treadmill in the morning when everyone is still asleep. I have tried to incorporate a bit in the evening too but I always seem to be too tired, too busy, no time or forget.
Welldone @Yesreallyitsme , @10kstepsaday , @PeonyPatch and @OrientalPrinceInTheLandOfSoup .

Also, welcome @OrientalPrinceInTheLandOfSoup . I am also new on here. Everyone has been so welcoming.

Tibby2024 · 13/04/2026 08:21

Hi can I join please ?

I’ve ordered myself a walking pad today which will be delivered tomorrow so I’m starting properly tomorrow,

I have been trying to do 10k steps a day the past week but found it quite difficult and the highest I got was 9000 but manly 7000/8000 seems to take me ages like 1hr30 mins to get to that! And I just can’t always get the opportunity to walk that long so thought I would get a walking pad so I can do it at home.

im doing It to get fitter and lose weight im 17stone 6 lbs so lots to lose, and being so big walking is the only thing at the moment I can do..

has anyone lost any weight doing 10k a day ? I read you can lose a lb a week just from that alone.. so hoping it will aid the weight loss with healthy eating alongside and get me fitter so I can one day do some running..

x

Tibby2024 · 13/04/2026 08:23

Looking back doing 9000 took me 1hr 27mins and was 4miles am I just a really slow walker ?

SilenceInside · 13/04/2026 08:44

@Tibby2024 hi 👋

I don't think your current walking speed is a very slow walking speed, it's 4.4kmph on average which is pretty normal I think. You will probably be able to walk faster, if you want to, the more you walk.

In terms of losing weight, walking at your pace with your current bodyweight for 4 miles would burn around 340 to 440 calories. So, whether you lost weight would depend on whether that put you into a calorie deficit each day compared to what you're eating.
