March thread for anyone who wants to join in with getting their 10k a day steps in each day. A place to be accountable and motivate each other!

The Feb Thread was super positive and friendly and involved a lot of us getting outdoors in the rain, jumping on the walking pad and wandering around our lounges to hit the last few steps 🤩 and one of us wandering around a cruise ship 😁

Hopefully March will bring more sunshine fuelled walks ☀️ Let's do this!!

Didn't get round to posting yesterday. Managed 10.6k which is close enough to my 11k target, and won't bring my average down too much.

Getting the steps in doesn't have any impact on weight loss, really, for me. I am towards the end of a long weight loss journey, still losing but quite slowly now as I am close to my target weight. It does show up in various fitness markers that my watch measures, particularly my heart rate - both resting, when exercising, and recovery rates show a noticeable improvement.

SilenceInside · 10/03/2026 22:08

Another 11.5k today, happy with that.

I have had a really busy day today. Dog walk x2, gardening, long walk with grandson, and finished off with a few games of badminton. Ended the day on 20,640 steps, my best this year.
Not much progress on the veg front, did have some parsnip soup but that was all today.
I am enjoying reading about everyone's efforts. It's definitely motivating.

Well done everyone!
I didn't hit my goal today because I was exhausted after my strength workout and barely moved for the rest of the day. Being a woman in my 40s and on mounjaro, strength workouts are the priority so I'm not going to beat myself up for not hitting step goals on workout days

Birdsongisangry · 10/03/2026 23:45

Wow @Joolly2 , well done! And @slightlysmallerPoisonIvy hope you're doing ok, I have no experience of WL jabs myself though I've heard that the lack of appetite can have a big impact on energy levels (which is logical, I guess!)
12,800 for me today. Not bad given I ended up working till 8.30 tonight, a walking pad is a godsend. Managed to do quite a decent speed while I was still typing for some of it too!

slightlysmallerPoisonIvy · 11/03/2026 01:21

As long as I don't need to walk up any stairs tomorrow I'm fine 😂
I'm on a low dose and don't have any appetite suppression, I have no trouble eating enough calories and protein so no reduced energy. For me it just quiets the food noise so I'm not snacking in front of the tv in the evening. I also have less pain and inflammation since being on it so I stay on a low dose for that mostly
I'm impressed by your ability to type and walk, I can just about type a quick text without falling off the treadmill, I definitely couldn't manage working on there!

Joolly2 · 11/03/2026 22:59

Good evening everyone. @Birdsongisangry I'm another one who is blown away by your ability to type and walk. What a fantastic skill. I can just imagine the spelling mistakes if I tried it.
14,376 steps today, would have been more but I spent hours sitting in one place weeding.
Made some veg soup, blitzed it with the blender so it was smooth. I actually enjoyed it. It seems so long as I can't see the veg I can eat it. 🫤

I think I did 11-12k today but my fitbit battery died in the middle of the day 😫 I'm going to order a spare charger!

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 11/03/2026 23:21

Forgot to report in but Tuesday was just over 12500 steps and today was 10,300 due to home issues

Rain forecast tomorrow so planning a run early in the morning

SilenceInside · 12/03/2026 00:09

Got in around 10.8k steps today, it’s so tricky to fit more movement in around work and sorting out child related things!

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 12/03/2026 15:35

Blustery day but got in a short club run and a walk . Just over 15,000 steps.

A problem with having lost so much weight is that I am finding it harder to run against the big gusts of wind.

Joolly2 · 12/03/2026 19:04

It's been very cold, and blowing a hoolie all day with horizontal rain. Normally just one of those would have been enough reason to shut myself away and boost the heating. However I'm now accountable to you all, so I doned my thermals and tramped along the canal and through the fields. I was buzzing when I made it back home. So thank you one and all. 10,285 steps completed.
@TheSlimmingPumpkin I have visions of you taking off like Mary Poppins. I recommend putting some weights in your shoes. 😄
@SilenceInside I really don't know how you are managing work and child care along side exercise. Hero.

SilenceInside · 13/03/2026 00:14

11.30pm realising that I was in danger of not hitting the 10k or closing my activity rings on my watch, leading to a slightly panicked late night treadmill walk that turned into a sprint when I realised that I was cutting it very fine. But got over the finish line with a couple of minutes to spare! 10.1k steps in the end.

slightlysmallerPoisonIvy · 13/03/2026 00:26

8536 for me today
I just ran out of time with work all day but I did get a strength workout done before work this morning so I did enough to not feel bad about not hitting the goal

@Joolly2 the mary poppins with weights made me lol the winds are crazy here today!
@TheSlimmingPumpkin the winds are giving you extra resistance training! we'll need to wear weighted vests to keep us on the ground after losing all our excess weight
@SilenceInside there's just not enough hours in the day for everything sometimes, well done for squeezing it all in

Well done everyone!! Hope all doing good! I am still here, my app has changed and posting doesn't let me see what I am typing as I go along? Lol posting this blind!! I have done 10k last couple of days but not hit the 11k! Really wish the sun would come back out again!!

Joolly2 · 13/03/2026 22:43

Did a long walk this morning, got home and realised i didn't have my watch on! Really cross with myself. Then I remembered I did the same walk a while ago, looked back in my diary and saw it was 8,245 steps so I'm going to claim that. With the watch firmly on, I have managed another 6,485 steps during the day. Total 14,730 happy with that.
If anyone has any influence over the weather could I put in a request for some warmer, dryer weather for the weekend please.

SilenceInside · 13/03/2026 23:33

11.5k again for me today. Aim for the weekend is to avoid having to catch up steps on the treadmill in the evening.

10kstepsaday · 14/03/2026 09:48

My app is back to normal now, yay!!
Well done @Joolly2 I would have been cross too but good you could guestimate the steps from before 😁

You are all doing so good!!
The sun is shining here.... Hope it is where you all are too!

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 14/03/2026 20:56

So parkrun and a walk gave me 14,000 steps today! So looking like a good average for the week. Hopefully pub walk tomorrow but that is weather dependent

Birdsongisangry · 14/03/2026 21:31

I fell off the wagon for a few days (couple of very long days in the office) but this thread helped me to get back to it! Beautiful sunshine here today so convinced myself to get out for a walk in the hills this afternoon and feel a lot better for it. Total 12.2k. Well done to everyone being so consistent!

Joolly2 · 14/03/2026 22:06

Thank you to who ever arranged the weather for today. It's been glorious, beautiful blue sky, and a very comfortable temperature.
Just managed to get slightly over 10,000.
@Birdsongisangry working such long hours must make it incredibly difficult to stay motivated. Well done for not giving up.

Glorious day and DH and I have been hiking. Up hill and down dale getting ready for our big hike in the summer.

Joolly2 · 15/03/2026 08:04

@CleanandLight109 wow, that is so impressive.

CleanandLight109 · 15/03/2026 08:15

Thanks @Joolly2. It was a most beautiful day and we stopped for a picnic in the sunshine overlooking the valley below ( well picnic on a bench out of pots I had made 😄) We were out for 7.5 hours between the driving to and the walking around and ended up on 82 floors for the day too.
This thread got me out and about again in Feb and from there DH and I booked to do a 2 day hike ( or book accomodation for the evening of night 1 that is)

Birdsongisangry · 15/03/2026 12:30

Thanks @Joolly2 At least when I'm in the office I can get a few steps even if busy, we're on the fifth floor!

@CleanandLight109 wow that's very impressive!
