March thread for anyone who wants to join in with getting their 10k a day steps in each day. A place to be accountable and motivate each other!

The Feb Thread was super positive and friendly and involved a lot of us getting outdoors in the rain, jumping on the walking pad and wandering around our lounges to hit the last few steps 🤩 and one of us wandering around a cruise ship 😁

Hopefully March will bring more sunshine fuelled walks ☀️ Let's do this!!

@slightlysmallerPoisonIvy I'm happy to share the recipe for spicy parsnip and apple soup if you want it.
Not much to report. Today was a it of a disaster, unexpected baby sitting. Two grandchildren off school sick. I still managed to get 2 good walks in and ended with 15470 steps so quite pleased.
Haven't managed any veg today 🙁. Oh well, tomorrow's another day.

So close to the goal and I know I could push myself and finish this but I am so exhausted today and have stomach cramps so I am calling it a night 😔

Well done everyone!!!

My total for today, happy with that given work and children logistics.

Well done everyone!
10k done. I decided today that there's just not enough hours in the day to fit in work and strength workouts and hitting step goals and was going to quit them all, and then did them all anyway

@Joolly2 yes please!

@slightlysmallerPoisonIvy I've taken a photo of the recipe, hope it clear enough. Husband doesn't usually bother with the cream or hazelnuts when he makes it and it still tastes great. We always have some in the freezer for a quick lunch.

@slightlysmallerPoisonIvy well done! I love that it sounds you completed all your goals almost out of spite!

My week has been a bit up and down as I've had some long days in the office where it's really hard to get in any decent steps, there's only so many times I can get up and wander off. Made up for it a bit today as had the day off so visited friends and we went for a hike. I probably wouldn't have been so motivated to do so without the focus in this thread as the weather wasn't great, but I feel I've really benefited from the fresh air and daylight, even if it was overcast.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 06/03/2026 22:29

Sorted for today just over 16k steps - early bed now 😴

Joolly2 · 06/03/2026 23:36

10,474 steps today. Was so much colder, couldn't wait to get home. Without this thread I probably would have stayed in.
Chilli con carne for dinner, and I didn't pick out the kidney beans. I couldn't even taste them, so I will definitely have this again.
Well done everyone.

Definitely was not in the mood this evening but made myself treadmill till I hit the 11k. I was also freezing today, was outside (but not walking much) for most of the day and just could not keep warm.

10kstepsaday · 07/03/2026 07:14

Well done everyone!!
I took my watch off yesterday as the strap has been irritating my wrist - need a new one I think in a different material. Anyway, obviously can't be sure but I took it off around 8K steps and I didn't stop pottering until late last night so I am taking that as a goal hit.
It was horrible and cold again yesterday booooo!!
Hope everyone has some lovely weekend plans!
We are having family over today.

A better day, got outside for a decent walk with my eldest DC and had a nice afternoon mooching round the local market with DC. So I'm already at 12k steps for the day so no need for late night treadmilling, thankfully.

Birdsongisangry · 07/03/2026 20:49

8k so far today so might not make my goal, but what's more important to me is around 4k of those steps were running - I've been meaning to start jogging again for ages and finally got out! Also did an hour on a stationary bike so I'm pleased with that. Really want to get my fitness and stamina back up after being a bit ill over winter.

Joolly2 · 07/03/2026 21:58

11,270 steps today. Pleased with that.
Bought ready made root veg mashed potato and used it to top a lentil pie. It was lovely. I couldn't identify any of the veg, the flavours all blended into one. So I will be having that again.
@Birdsongisangry you have made a great start on regaining your fitness.

slightlysmallerPoisonIvy · 07/03/2026 23:19

Well done everyone!

Thanks @Joolly2 I've saved the recipe and added parsnips to next weeks shopping list.
@Birdsongisangry exactly! gotta use whatever motivation we can find 😂
@10kstepsaday the silicon straps used to irritate mine too, I got some elastic ones on Amazon that are much more comfortable, cheap too I got a pack of five different colours for around a tenner

I was feeling unwell yesterday so didn't hit goal. 12k done today

Went on a long walk with friends and managed to get in 10,500 steps according to Strava with 99 metre incline. But that was followed by a lot of wind and a three course meal 🙄

10kstepsaday · 08/03/2026 20:47

Well done everyone!! You're all smashing it!!
I'm at 8K atm and had a very slow Sunday. Did do quite a bit of gardening though which I thought might have helped me get to the goal!!
Tomorrow is my day off and I am DEFINITELY going on a long walk to make up!!

OP posts:
Birdsongisangry · 08/03/2026 20:50

10,446 plus a strength training session at the gym.
@10kstepsaday keep in mind I bet 8k is a lot more than you used to do on a slow Sunday before this challenge!

slightlysmallerPoisonIvy · 08/03/2026 21:51

well done everyone!
I'm having a much needed rest day so no fitbit for me today

SilenceInside · 09/03/2026 09:58

Yesterday was a bit of a disaster in that I spent most of it bumming around at home not doing much and then had to do a late night long walk on the treadmill to get over the 10k (and 11k) steps before midnight.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 09/03/2026 13:31

Had a day off yesterday as I felt over the week my average works out at over 10k per day.

Just walked to post office and back to deliver a Vinted parcel and bagged 9.5k steps 💪🏻 so I should be fine now by the time I muck about in the garden etc

10kstepsaday · 09/03/2026 19:53

Woohoo!! Hit my goal for today 🥳
@slightlysmallerPoisonIvyI will definitely look at getting a different strap for my watch because yeah the silicone is horrible for my skin!!

Evening all, yesterday we had a big family gathering and went for a out for a meal. I tried really hard to eat the veg on my plate but they just looked too veg. I couldn't get past the look or smell of them.🙁 I ended the day on 7,500 steps.
Today has been much better. 13,124 steps. I also finished off the root veg mash from earlier in the week.

Birdsongisangry · 09/03/2026 22:08

I also had to change from the silicone watch straps, I know they're advertised for sport but I can't see how it's good to have a material that doesn't breathe at all when you're active.

Today I had got my 10,000 in with my walking pad while working and a quick walk on my lunch break, and then did a gym class this evening so overall pretty pleased. Downside was that despite trying my best to fill up on fruit and high protein meals I was ravenous and couldn't stop eating! I didn't go too crazy, but wasn't the deficit I was hoping for. Oh well, I think I am on a fitness journey rather than a weight loss journey!

slightlysmallerPoisonIvy · 10/03/2026 00:16

well done all!
11k for me today, remembered just in time to get a pic

Can I join as well please? I have managed 10k for the last 2 days, but usually only do about 7. It'll be nice to have some motivation! 😊
