March thread for anyone who wants to join in with getting their 10k a day steps in each day. A place to be accountable and motivate each other!

The Feb Thread was super positive and friendly and involved a lot of us getting outdoors in the rain, jumping on the walking pad and wandering around our lounges to hit the last few steps 🤩 and one of us wandering around a cruise ship 😁

Hopefully March will bring more sunshine fuelled walks ☀️ Let's do this!!

Hi can I join please? I'm a day late finding this thread but it is just what I need! My steps have been shockingly low for the last few months and my goal for March is to get back on track and hit my steps. I probably won't manage it every day but I'm already inspired by the posts to go for a walk and get my last 2k steps in before today ends

10kstepsaday · 02/03/2026 21:34

Of course, welcome along @slightlysmallerPoisonIvy 😊
That's what I was finding too, my steps were so low before, which was bc I am sitting at a desk all day most days or driving lots! I tried to set myself a challenge in Jan and I only did 10k on 8 days across the whole month. So started a thread in Feb and it really really helped with motivation.
Don't worry if you don't do it every day either!! ☺️

Good evening everyone, very pleased with my total today. I've also braved some vegetables, they were heavily disguised in a lentil cottage pie. So good day all round.
How nice to see the sun it makes such a difference, also lots of blossom on the trees.
@SilenceInside how are you getting on with the decorating, is there much more to do?
@10kstepsaday good luck with the litter pick, such a shame that it's needed.

Mungomango · 02/03/2026 22:02

I'll join too please 😊

slightlysmallerPoisonIvy · 02/03/2026 22:07

@10kstepsaday Thanks😊 Yes desk jobs make it much harder, it was much easier when I was on my feet all day running around at work but now I'm at a desk trying to squeeze those steps in.
I'm off now for my walk, my fitbit was low battery flashing at me so had to charge first, can't risk it dying and not counting every last step!

10kstepsaday · 02/03/2026 22:21

Well done @Joolly2 for the steps and the veg 😊
I am yet to see any blossom out and about!
I know, litter really infuriates me!!

Welcome @Mungomango👏🏻

Well done @slightlysmallerPoisonIvy getting the last steps in 🤩😁

Good evening to all. 17.5k for me today, thanks to walking into town and back earlier, which is a 45 min walk there and the same back.

@Joolly2 we finished painting the living room, which means that it’s nearly done bar new flooring. But we still have plenty to do in the rest of the house. We bought it as a doer upper a while ago, and have been busy with life and kids. It’s taken us a while to get properly going!

@10kstepsaday a community litter pick sounds great, I would find that a very satisfying task! And it should get you plenty of steps.

slightlysmallerPoisonIvy · 02/03/2026 23:50

finishing the day on 11k, that's an improvement on my recent 2-3k

count me in - lovely walk today got my 10k steps..

Joolly2 · 03/03/2026 18:40

Evening all. I had a lovely walk this morning. First along a small canal and then across fields. It was joyous after all the rain we have had this year.
My diet is devoid of veg, so my mission in March is to find some that i can eat and regularly add to my diet. Today I've found that I like watercress. It was not something that I ever had as a child so I had no bad association with it. I will definitely be having it again.
@SilenceInside we bought our house years ago and went through 2 years of renovations, it's hard isn't it, but so worth it. Enjoy your new living room when it's finished.
@10kstepsaday how did the litter pick go? Was there a lot to pick?

10kstepsaday · 03/03/2026 19:19

Well done @SilenceInside @slightlysmallerPoisonIvy @TheSlimmingPumpkin🥳

Your walk sounds lovely @Joolly2 😊
And watercress is yum!!
The litter pick was good, I am absolutely shattered now! I collected 4 bin bags FULL! It was quite shocking how much litter there is once I started looking properly. It was alongside a 60mph road (although it's a quiet road, just fast) and the amount of alcohol bottles that had been chucked to the side! Crazy!! I will be heading straight to bed once the children are asleep!

Well done everyone! And @Joolly2 if you are ok with watercress there's probably lots of veg you will be able to eat, as that's quite a bitter veg for someone not keen on the stuff!
I know it's not super healthy but I find a homemade chicken curry with aubergine and courgette added works well. As long as you're not adding too much oil or curry paste it's not that bad (and being sensible with rice portions)

I forgot to post at the start of the month, I missed yesterday as work was such a long day I went straight to bed when I got home, but I still managed 8000 by being conscious of trying to find ways to add steps (stairs, parking further away etc) so that's better than it could have been. Today is 11k so far, so I'm pleased with that.

slightlysmallerPoisonIvy · 03/03/2026 22:49

Evening all, well done to everyone hitting their goals today!

I did 11k again, quite pleased with that as this morning I woke up with achey legs and didn't want to do any but I got my steps done and a strength workout too so I'm tired tonight!

CleanandLight109 · 03/03/2026 23:01

I got the first of my promised big walks in today and i am feeling tired tonight, Want to do two or three of these a week.

SilenceInside · 03/03/2026 23:01

Made it to 11k today, which I am pleased about as earlier in the evening it was tempting to sit and veg on the sofa. But I made myself get up and get active around the house to make sure I got to my target.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 03/03/2026 23:27

Achieved today by walking to allotment and back, plus a 12km run. Which I think helps make up for my late start to the month. Exhausted now 🙄 My steps are calculated on strava as I broke my Fitbit. Now considering a garmin just to help with running.

SilenceInside · 04/03/2026 20:50

Hope everyone’s having a good day. Hit the 11k steps a bit earlier today, thankfully.

@TheSlimmingPumpkin a 12km run is amazing. I’m thrilled when I manage a 5k 😁

10kstepsaday · 04/03/2026 21:17

Well done everyone!! Smashing it!!

Today was one of THOSE days - getting stuck in every traffic jam, accidentally spilling coffee down your front, realizing you read your diary wrong and are in the wrong place...... 🤪 I have been doing laps around the house to get the last steps in today, once I was home I wasn't going out again!!

Wow that is a long walk @CleanandLight109
Very inspiring!!

Agreed - a 12K run!! Wowzer! Impressive @TheSlimmingPumpkin

When I was 6 stone heavier I couldn’t run, from Nov 24 through to April I made sure I did 10k steps a day without fail but fell off the wagon when it got hot, holidays etc. Once I was 5 stone down in September I started a nine week C25K course and have kept running since. I now run 3 or 4 times a week and do between 5k and 12k so I can be out for up to an hour and a quarter plodding around the area.

Today was a short walk and Pilates day.

10kstepsaday · 04/03/2026 22:23

That's so awesome @TheSlimmingPumpkin
What an achievement!!

I have done C25K once before, all the way through and did thoroughly enjoy it but that was a couple of years ago.
I would like to get back into running at some point, it's been so long I'm a bit scared 🤣

Joolly2 · 04/03/2026 22:24

11,044 steps today, split into two dog walks.
Lunch was spicy parsnip and apple soup, it was delicious. I'm beginning to realise I have spent a lifetime missing out. Dinner was more watercress with beetroot as a side salad. Total new veg count up to 3.

@10kstepsaday very worrying all the alcohol bottles along a road. Hope they weren't from drink drivers.
@CleanandLight109 @TheSlimmingPumpkin amazing both of you, so inspiring.
@Birdsongisangry thank you for the curry suggestion. Aubergines and courgettes are really difficult for me, I find them slimy. I'm on a roll at the moment so I think it's worth giving them another try though.

Birdsongisangry · 04/03/2026 22:44

That's amazing @TheSlimmingPumpkin !

@Joolly2 I know what you mean, but that's why they work so well in a sauce, they soften up, make the sauce thicker and absorb the flavour really well. Very different to eating on their own. I do think enjoying veg is learning different ways to cook it (not sure what generation you are but I was certainly put off by my parents boiling any veg to death!)
I have started buying more fruit to branch out and a had a peach today, which I haven't eaten in years! Along with some blueberries and clementines.

I didn't have a good day steps wise today, but I'm not going to stress, I'm going to get back on to it tomorrow.

Joolly2 · 05/03/2026 00:05

@Birdsongisangry thank you for the reassurance, I will definitely give it a go at the weekend. Glad your enjoying fruit again. I adore all fruit and have eaten it instead of veg all my life. Don't fret about the steps. Tomorrow is another day.

slightlysmallerPoisonIvy · 05/03/2026 00:12

10k done! Just made it with only five minutes to spare, long day didn't leave my desk till 10pm, only pushed myself to hit goal because of this thread so thanks for the motivation

@Joolly2 parsnip soup is delicious, never had it with apple, I have got to try that

@TheSlimmingPumpkin 6st is amazing well done!

Morning track session saw 5.5km and 6040 steps. Thought I would pop out in the afternoon as it was so nice and ended up doing a 7.8km walk listening to podcasts which gave me 10,100 steps.

Away at the weekend so it’s good to get a couple of high days in.
