Anyone want to join me in some motivational supportive chat.

I'm 56 and 3.5 stone overweight. I'm 5'2" and weigh 13 stone

Depressingly I've lost this before - in 2019 I lost 2 stone and felt much better and was really disciplined ... and then I stopped and the weight crept back on.

I feel fat, frumpy, unhappy in my clothes and my middle spare tyre feels awful.

If I could lose 2 stone again I'd be thrilled - 3.5 is the dream.

Last time what worked for me was healthy breakfast, green smoothie for lunch and balanced tea. In between meals veg sticks or an oat cake as a snack.

My downfalls are savoury stuff - crisps, cheese, savoury biscuits.

I've been diagnosed as pre diabetic with high blood pressure which I'm hoping will be the kick up the arse I need.

This time I'm trying to up my game with exercise - I have 'treated' myself to about elliptical machine. Horrifyingly on the first day I could only do 2 minutes - I'm up to 15 mins now - I am aiming for 30 mins a day of elliptical/walking.

Anyone want to join me and share what is working for them?

I don’t mind at all.

Today, breakfast “muffin” -137 cals
chicken salad and dressing, 265 cals
pitta, cheddar, marmite, 377 cals
mini babybel light, few grapes 72 cals

but today Ive had an awful day so I’m adding wine (500) and a mini dairy milk bar (96 cal) - the total is still only 1384

Michael Moseley’s The Fast 800 has some great meal suggestions!

Irememberwhenitwasallfieldsroundhere · 08/02/2026 13:37

Afternoon all. I weighed yesterday and I’m down a stone since the beginning of January, very happy! Still a long way to go but a good start.

RoosterCogburn · 09/02/2026 06:52

Monday weigh in

Week 1 184lb
Week 2 184.6lb
Week 3 183.6 lb
Week 4 180lb
Week 5 179lb
Week 6 177.8lb
Week 7 176.2lb
Week 8 174.8lb

Minus 1.4lb in a week
9.2 lb down altogether

Well done on the losses. I stayed the same this week. Not surprised and could have been worse so on I go. I’ve been weighing every day but now going to record my weight twice a week instead of once. Hopefully that will keep some momentum going and I can see the graph go down. Even if it is very slowly.

RoosterCogburn · 09/02/2026 19:38

@suneetime not putting on any weight is a win in itself!

Well done.

Stayed the same today but I expect things will go wrong over the next couple of weeks due to holidays. However at least I’ll be putting on weight from a better place. If I hadn’t done anything I’d be heavier rather than lighter than at New Year

topsecretcyclist · 10/02/2026 22:10

I've stayed the same again. Ordered some protein works shakes to see if doing those for a couple of weeks kick-starts a loss. Been swimming 3 times a week, plus cycling or hiking at the weekends. It never used to be this hard to lose weight!

UnRumblytumberry · 11/02/2026 08:53

I feel like my energy has returned now after my extended diet break so that’s good. Managed to do my exercise 3 mornings this week.

CW 157.8
Wk1 161.2
SW 169.6

Menu today is grated apple with toasted walnuts, coffee. Minced beef kebabs with roasted mushrooms, onions and cherry tomatoes; mango for dessert, mint tea. Poached eggs, baby spinach, roasted peppers, avocado; grapes for dessert.

Rocketpants50 · 11/02/2026 15:26

Have been trying so hard since New Year and lost 9 pounds. Went away at weekend, didnt go crazy but had a few wines and a bit of cheese- refused the cake. Got on scales and 5 pound on. How is that even possible!

That’s not fat unless you ate and drank over 30,000 extra calories ;) It will go back down in the next couple of days.

Because you have more fluid weight in you plus the weight of the extra food going through your system . Once you've pooed and wee'd it out , I bet the weight gain won't be 5lb ( but sadly it might have added a bit )

MayBeee · 11/02/2026 16:16

@Alltheyellowbirds

Haha wrote the same explanation ,at the same time !
Great minds .

Sounds lovely.

I am feeling more in the zone.
Breakfast was yogurt and blueberries.
Lunch was houmous and carrot sticks with a few Kallo veggie cakes.

Had a awful day at work and now want to eat the house but I won't as it won't make me feel any better!

blizymitzy · 13/02/2026 20:15

I weighed today and I’m under the next stone bracket so really pleased.
sw 12.9
cw 11.13
tw. 10.13
currently 10 lb down from New Year’s Day.
I’ve really increased my exercise and I am trying to eat a Mediterranean diet.

RoosterCogburn · 14/02/2026 17:34

Well done @blizymitzy , that's fantastic
Moving down a stone bracket always feels like a real milestone!

Hello people 👋. I've just spotted this thread. Can I join? Maybe it will motivate me too? I'm 56, 5'6" and 13 stone. My heaviest was 14.5 stone, but 4 years ago I did WW and got down to 9.5 stone. Then I had to stop HRT, the almost daily headaches I used to get returned and my knees gave out. So over the last 3 years I've just slowly but surely gained a lot of the weight back because I spend so much time feeling ill or in pain. Eating something often helps my headaches, I can't exercise like I used to, my blood pressure is up and I just generally feel rubbish.

I would dearly love to just lose 1 stone, although 2 would be perfect. But I'm really struggling for motivation. I found the WW group really helpful - talking to others gave me some accountability, so I'd love to see if I can make that work here. I succeeded before by aiming for small goals, so I'm saying now that I want to get to 12.5 stone by the end of March. Please wish me luck!

RoosterCogburn · 14/02/2026 21:09

Welcome to the thread @pencilcaseandcabbage

The struggle is real, but you've got this.

I empathise with the needing to eat to prevent headaches. It's all a balancing act isn't it.

You can do it. We are all in it together.

Is ww still points based? Haven't done it for years. Think it was pro points when I last went.

It was until recently - not sure now because I believe it's just had another revamp (according to all the Facebook ads I've been seeing).

I hope I can do it! I just find myself comfort eating whenever I have a headache. Which is most days. And then thinking I just can't be bothered. But I know I'll feel so much better if I lose just 1 stone! I need to channel Yoda. "Try not. Do or do not. There is no try." Or something like that 🤣

Yes still has points but with changes to make more things 0points but the rest maybe higher. Just started again myself. I worry that in itself shows it doesn’t work. OTOH I have lost some weight so it isn’t harming me. Even if I yo-yo at least I’ll have had a period of healthy eating.

Only 0.8lb off for me this week … but that takes me to 10lb loss in total, so about 25% of what I want to lose.

I veer between yay, that’s great … to I’ve still got to do three more times and it was hard

But imagine if I’d put on 10lbs instead of losing it … I’d be nearly 100lb

Hi, I'm nearly 52 and 2 stone overweight.

Today is the start of the new me!

I'm starting by giving up sugar and bad fats. I've stocked up on healthy snacks. Wish me luck! 🤞🏼 🙏🏼

RoosterCogburn · 16/02/2026 12:57

I think they just change it up periodically to refresh it and use it as an excuse to try and draw more people in or back. A previous change annoyed me when I was using it as I was settled, happy and it was going well, but I found it not that much different in the way I used it so it didn't actually matter in the end.

RoosterCogburn · 21/02/2026 15:06

How's everyone doing?
I've had a mixed week as I've been on holiday, just at home but out of routine so I'm not sure if I will lose weight.

I'm meal prepping for next week so hopefully will be back on track.
