Anyone want to join me in some motivational supportive chat.

I'm 56 and 3.5 stone overweight. I'm 5'2" and weigh 13 stone

Depressingly I've lost this before - in 2019 I lost 2 stone and felt much better and was really disciplined ... and then I stopped and the weight crept back on.

I feel fat, frumpy, unhappy in my clothes and my middle spare tyre feels awful.

If I could lose 2 stone again I'd be thrilled - 3.5 is the dream.

Last time what worked for me was healthy breakfast, green smoothie for lunch and balanced tea. In between meals veg sticks or an oat cake as a snack.

My downfalls are savoury stuff - crisps, cheese, savoury biscuits.

I've been diagnosed as pre diabetic with high blood pressure which I'm hoping will be the kick up the arse I need.

This time I'm trying to up my game with exercise - I have 'treated' myself to about elliptical machine. Horrifyingly on the first day I could only do 2 minutes - I'm up to 15 mins now - I am aiming for 30 mins a day of elliptical/walking.

Anyone want to join me and share what is working for them?

This has taken me 19 months but this morning I hit 100lbs lost! I still have a long way to go but yesterday I prepped a whole load of salad and cooked a chicken for quick, easy protein and planned my workouts (including packing resistance bands in my case for a work night away) - and that's now my normal and has been for ages.

My habits have really changed and I am more confident I can lose another few stones. It might take a couple more years (the last stone has taken 5 months to lose) but every day I eat like this and move my body is making me healthier. This is my long haul now.

Champagnecharleyismyname · 02/02/2026 09:00

@petitpasta That’s really inspiring. I’m realising it takes time. I’ve had a heavy weekend and I’m back up to 150lbs. It’s annoying but I weigh every day and I see lots of fluctuations.

I am back on it today so hopefully I’ll see it on the scales this week.

ErlingHaalandsManBun · 02/02/2026 12:46

Feeling good. 🙂

Food prepped for the week, up early and got a 45 minute weight training workout in and then walked the dogs. Got back from that and hoovered through the downstairs and mopped the kitchen floor.

I am finding losing some weight has given me renewed energy and I am sleeping better again.

RiddleoftheSands1 · 02/02/2026 14:02

@petitpasta congratulations, that’s incredible and you sound very focused. @RoosterCogburn I love your username, True Grit is one of two films my daughter and I watch together every year (the other is Miss Congeniality). Do you prefer the original or the more recent one?

I have been gradually reducing so I am ready to ease into Fast800 properly this week. Grocery shop had a lot of cauliflower, mushrooms, courgettes, cavelo Nero.

Hope everyone has a good week.

You must be so thrilled.
I've already promised myself a non food reward when I hit 10lb!

I love the original, but have to admit the remake is my favourite.

We've just had beef casserole with a very large side of green beans and cavolo nero. Normally I'd have rice or mashed potatoes.

Thankfully, I've reached the stage where I am not permanently starving as the first few weeks all I could think about was how hungry I was

Well done @petitpasta 👏 Amazing

suneetime · 03/02/2026 06:30

Some great results. Really inspiring. I’m 1 week down and have lost 1lb. A long way to go and it feels slow. But if I can lose 1lb most weeks that’s over 3 stone gone by the end of the year, give or take. And I’d be happy with that so onwards I go!

RiddleoftheSands1 · 03/02/2026 11:45

I started on 26th Jan (before I found this thread) and have lost 4 lbs. I had been eating a lot of crisps, bread and cheese since Christmas so cutting those out made a real difference quickly.

26/1 11st 1 lb (my pregnancy weight!)
3/2 10st 10 3/4 lbs
GW. 9st

@RoosterCogburn my DD prefers the new version, I think I prefer the original as I like JW’s performance. I love both female leads equally.

Irememberwhenitwasallfieldsroundhere · 03/02/2026 16:11

We went away at the weekend so ate and drank more than normal which means I've been scared to weigh but I've gone back to 8-900 calories a day this week and I've been on the treadmill a bit, only 5 minutes at a time but it's a start and better than nothing. And I have kept logging my food and I don't think I've ever gone over 2,000 calories a day, even counting in the wine. And I didn't have puddings.

I know what you mean, whoever said when you actually look at yourself it can be shocking because you've been in denial, I feel like that too.

I have such a long way to go that it feels insurmountable some days but I still feel motivated to keep going for the rest of the year. I think it'll take me that long to get to where I need to be. Sob!

RoosterCogburn · 03/02/2026 17:11

@Irememberwhenitwasallfieldsroundhere 8-900 calories a day is hard core! If you don't mind me asking what are you eating?

I don’t mind at all.

Today, breakfast “muffin” -137 cals
chicken salad and dressing, 265 cals
pitta, cheddar, marmite, 377 cals
mini babybel light, few grapes 72 cals

but today Ive had an awful day so I’m adding wine (500) and a mini dairy milk bar (96 cal) - the total is still only 1384

blizymitzy · 03/02/2026 19:37

I stayed the same for another week!
really rather annoyed 😡
well done everyone else

Sunshineandrainbow · 03/02/2026 20:23

Well done everyone

I am keeping going
..Yogurt and banana
Carrot sticks, houmous and protein shake.
Vege chilli, couscous and Parsnips.
2 sugar free digestives and a half milk/water coffee.

hopefullygoingdown · 03/02/2026 20:50

Weighed today another 900g / 2lb down, very happy with that. Need to really be careful this week. Hoping to maintain. Over next few weeks with holidays and birthdays then get back on track

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 03/02/2026 21:17

Well done, no loss this week but haven’t gained anything so positive!

UnRumblytumberry · 04/02/2026 14:32

Welldone everyone and very welldone petitpasta on reaching such a big milestone.

First week went ok, had a headache for a few days as I reduced my carb intake. I’ve lost a lot of water weight.

SW 169.6
CW 161.2

Today’s menu is stewed apples and seeds, coffee; chicken and roasted veg with a side salad, elderflower green tea; hard boiled eggs and vegetable soup, mango for dessert.

RoosterCogburn · 04/02/2026 16:59

Lots of positivity - well done all!

I had greek yoghurt and blueberries for breakfast
A green smoothie for lunch (half an avocado, spinach, parsley, ginger, protein powder and almond milk)
And for tea we are having fish, brown rice and veg

Snacks were carrots, celery, pumpkin seeds and cherries.

I was in a meeting this morning and deliberately made sure I had a water bottle with me so I didn't have to go and make a coffee at the table next to all the pastries

Going ok here. Yesterday was 3 satsumas, 2 smoked haddock fillets, 5 bean mix (merchant gourmet 1/2 pack), roasted portobello mushroom, bag of spinach and steamed broccoli. Black coffee pods. I am feeling well on Fast 800.

IsItAllMenopause · 06/02/2026 08:11

I've been on holiday for a week and still managed to lose a pound. Now 12.6. It's been slow but steady.
How is everyone else?

Sunshineandrainbow · 06/02/2026 08:20

That's fantastic @IsItAllMenopause hope you had a lovely time.

All good here although off work today which makes it a bit tricky, I need to try and stay with what I would eat at work. I looked at a new job yesterday but it was work at home most of the week and that scares me how close I would be to cupboards full of food!

Sunshineandrainbow · 07/02/2026 10:15

I did it I made it through a day at home and very close to temptation. I managed to stick to my plan,.

Now to get through the weekend and a trip to the cinema!

petitpasta · 07/02/2026 11:54

I am feeling rather pleased with myself as I went to a ball last night and danced for an hour in a swishy floor length dress which was 5 sizes smaller than I wore to a similar event two years ago. Two years ago I didn't dance and I didn't really enjoy myself. In fact it was one of the events that led to me kick starting this weight loss journey.

Also feeling smug because I won a Jo Malone candle on the raffle. I normally win the 'eternal raffle prize' bottle of questionable wine that has been doing the raffle and tombola rounds for years!

RoosterCogburn · 07/02/2026 16:05

That's brilliant @petitpasta - how inspiring.

I'm looking forward to seeing changes in my size.
So far the only discernible change has been the removal of my fairly impressive back boobs that used to appear and bulge whenever I put my bra on.
