I am actually aiming to lose a stone and a half , going from 11 stone 6lbs well I weighed that before last nights Chinese to just under 10 stone.

I am hoping to do a meal replacement plan; I know not everybody gets on with them but honestly with two fussy children and a fussy husband and a busy life it just makes most sense for me as I can cook for everyone else without stressing about what I need to eat.

Anyone else?

Two weeks in and 6.8 lbs down. Sitting at 10 stone 5 now. My ‘happy’ weight is about 9 stone 7 as I’m 5ft 3.

I’m weighing everyday to keep me honest. It’s fascinating to see how weight loss isn’t linear. The impact of weekends (carby, salty meals) is noticeable. 2-3 days of gains or flatlining and then losses start again. The answer is probably to not indulge at weekends but IMO it’s important to not be too restrictive.

@pinkyponkyplink don't overwhelm yourself - start on reducing the snacking etc then look into some weights workouts in a couple of weeks maybe? I find making too many changes at once can be mentally exhausting and its the food choices that will have the biggest initial impact. But maybe that's just me!

babasaclover · 15/01/2026 09:52

@weightlosssswhat meal replacement did you choose? I really like slimfast if you make from powder - the pre made bottles are rank 🤮

DecemberSkies · 15/01/2026 09:53

@DLRPmember we seem to have similar start weights and target weights, may I ask how tall you are? And are you using any particular method (fasting, low carbon etc) or just being very disciplined?

DLRPmember · 15/01/2026 11:27

@DecemberSkies- I’m 5 ft 3.

I’m aiming for 1200-1300 calories a day and try to keep quite low carb and high protein. I’m quite active - play tennis a couple of times a week and run 2 or 3 times a week.

Ah, so that is where you and I differ then 🤣 I do very little exercise, just a walk now and then when I have the time.

DLRPmember · 15/01/2026 18:21

@DecemberSkies- yeah. I’m a bit of an exercise junkie most of the time. Also have a dog that needs walking and live in London so don’t use the car much - so lots of steps.

pinkyponkyplink · 15/01/2026 18:50

@DecemberSkiesthanks. I’m trying. Failed again today. Trying to hit 10,000 steps and then will try and focus on snacking. Finding it so hard! Especially at night

@pinkyponkyplink
Night times are my weak point too.
I remember reading on MN a tip….brush your teeth not long after eating dinner which supposedly fools you into thinking it’s almost bedtime so not a time to be snacking.
I haven’t tried it, such is my lack of application…

I didn’t weigh in today as it hasn’t been the great start to my weight loss journey that I’d imagined. There were still leftover Christmas chocolate/biscuits hanging around and my self-discipline was nowhere to be seen.

pinkyponkyplink · 16/01/2026 20:03

@RipplePleasegreat tip! I’ve eaten better today but having a couple of glasses of wine tonight. If I completely restrict myself, I’ll fall off the rails. I’ve hit 10k steps, done a short weight workout and not snacked as much. Need to try and drink more water next. My fitness pal calories have dropped. Is that because my weight hasn’t dropped in a week?

This is why I like my fasting app...once I've clicked 'start fasting' there's no going back!

HippoHotel · 19/01/2026 07:42

I’ve just weighed in for today and scales say 62.3. I was 63.3 last week so am pleased with the result but frankly it’s an utter miracle as I had fish and chips on Saturday night and have made a dent in the box of 24 chunky Kit Kats my husband brought back from Costco! I’m doing Dry January though which is clearly helping, although it’s slightly worrying to realise the number of calories booze must normally take up in my diet!!! I don’t even drink that much!! I’ve been back at the gym though and had a facial on Friday which I’m convinced stimulated me losing about a kilo of water that night!! If I’m honest though I think one of the biggest fluctuations on the scale with me is hormonal. I’m 54 and on HRT so when my hormones feel stable I eat better, exercise and don’t look puffy and when they’re not I’ve got a timeshare in the fridge and a face so swollen it looks like I’ve been crying every day since Jool’s Hootenanny!

DecemberSkies · 19/01/2026 09:03

Well done on the loss @Hippohotel! I have been less than strict as well, I've kept up my resolution not to buy myself treats but I can't turn down homemade cake if someone brings it to work for me. Impossible to resist.

SW 5th Jan 11st 2
12th Jan 10st 10
19th Jan 10st 8.2

I've decided to count the ounces, as I could see them dropping during the week and half a pound feels better than nothing!

DLRPmember · 28/01/2026 07:18

Still on the wagon and after 4 weeks have managed a very tidy 10 lbs loss. Nudged back into the ‘normal’ weight range and my Renpho dash on are has gone ‘green’ for weight and BMI.

I’d set myself a target of 9 stone 10lb so have 5.8 lbs to go.
