@thenewaveragebear1983 thank you so much. It’s very difficult to hurt yourself a lot on purpose and this is what I’ve been told to do. If someone else does it you hold on tight and wait for them and the pain to stop. Doing it to yourself you naturally start to be more gentle as the pain increases. I didn’t do any physio last night (for the first time since my op), I couldn’t face it but this morning after my shower I’m going to give it a go.

i think both the physio hand specialist and the consultant know the op hasn’t worked and can’t do any more so they are just piling physio onto me to show theyve tried everything. I’ve got 9 days before we see the physio specialist so I’ll try hard for this time and then ask him for his honest opinion and tell him what I believe to be the truth.

i hope everyone has a lovely day.

Of course, that makes sense. Physio is always boring and I think they ‘over prescribe’ it because they think people don’t do it. Any is better than nothing though. I hope it isn’t the case that the op has totally failed. You must feel very sad about frustrated over the whole thing.

I started using the Zoe app a few days ago. My friend had had really good results and to be honest I just needed something new to focus on. It’s a bit gimmicky but actually I am quite enjoying it and it is definitely making me honest about my food. Because it overestimates calories quite a lot, it’s forced me to weigh everything. I felt a bit more energy yesterday and I feel great this morning after a good sleep, I had dreams which I don’t normally and I always feel better after some good REM sleep. I think I’ve lost 2lbs. Of course we are going away on Saturday which might make it tricky but I’m just going to keep tracking on it, and plan to really fully start when I get home which will give me 10 weeks until our summer holiday.

@thenewaveragebear1983ive never heard of the Zoe app, would you recommend it?

I did 3 1/2 hours of timed physio yesterday, I’m recording it so that they have a true picture of what I’m actually doing, it’s like a part-time job.

Because I had a busy day and was on my own, I actually ate less all day. I grazed a bit in the evening but considering how I feel, I think I did very well. I don’t mind staying at this weight for a while until I sort my head out but I don’t want to gain a lot.

DP is Insisting on coming over today even though I feel sure he knows I want to be on my own. He’s a bit needy for my company sometimes, but I’ve warned him that my mood is not good. I will try to be kind and I’m sure he’ll want to go to the cafe so at least I’ll get out.

i’m just having my coffee then I’ll have a shower and then do an hours physio 🙁

@poorpaws I quite like it. It’s basically focussed around eating good quality food, you photograph your plate and it calculates what’s in there and gives you a score, it sort of ‘gamifies’ the diet I guess. You get more points for eating diverse foods, aiming for 30 plants a week. It’s definitely making me eat more veg and not eat so much rubbish mindlessly. What I don’t like about it is that it’s not very accurate (eg I zapped a can of tango cherry zero last night and it scored it as fresh cherries and 180 calories, even though it recognised the product) so I am having to overwrite a lot of its ingredients. You don’t have to use it to track calories, my friend doesn’t, but I have done because I know I overeat. Overall I like it, I’m definitely feeling a bit healthier and I definitely ate more veg. I’ve paid for 3 months (I have a code I can send you for 20% off), or they do a one week trial that you can sign up after if you like it. It’s about £20 a month which I think is quite expensive personally but if it works then I’m ok with it

@thenewaveragebear1983 thank you that’s very interesting. It’s no good me signing up for anything at the moment, but once I’ve sorted this hand out and my head, we’ll see. I’m not sure I like the bit about it not being accurate though because I’m quite an accurate type person when it comes to counting calories. I don’t mind going a little bit over but I won’t go under. Of course that doesn’t mean to say I always get it right.

I'd be weary of doctors prescribing physio. Have had a couple of family members prescribed this and turned out this wasn't good advice.

I well and truly stuffed myself last night so hoping I do not repeat tonight.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/05/2026 18:33

This definitely over calculates but you can override it so in a way it’s a good thing because it’s forcing me to get the scales out and measure things properly!

Currently checking out the local Indian restaurant with a panic Biriyani purchase. I'll start my diet for next visit.

poorpaws · Yesterday 16:27

Last night was another binge, today I’ve done much better. If only I could sort out my evenings.

@thenewaveragebear1983 I over calculate without an app but I had never thought of it forcing me to measure food, that’s a good call.

my out of office is now ON! I just went to a lovely sunny yoga in the park, but I have lots to do when I get home, I threw all my possible outfits for holiday in a big heap and now need to go back and filter it down to a reasonable size pile, iron a few of the more crumpled bits, and find the last odd things I need (like one specific bra and my sunglasses!)

I’ve done really well on my food this week, it feels quite liberating actually and after only a few days I can tell I feel healthier and much fewer cravings for rubbish. What’s interesting is that I haven’t eaten anything that wasn’t already in my house which means I clearly haven’t got an issue with planning or buying healthy meals, my issue is with eating them! It feels like something I can do long term and really sustainably which is a really nice feeling after a long time struggling and not getting anywhere.

tonight I’m having a chicken breast with feta stuffing and will use up all the leftovers of salad in the fridge. We will probably have a glass of wine when all the packing is done and we’re ready to relax
