i had 6 stone to lose and had lost 5, then got pregnant and gained 3 stone back by eating tonnes everyday (my own fault!) so I have 4 stone total to lose.

A little about me - I have a 5m baby, a DH who works away for months at a time and only one family member local to help me out (they have my baby one day a week). My babies clingy and doesn’t like to be put down. I’m limited with exercise still after my c section so no strenuous activity, I’ll do walking and light dance workouts as and when I can with baby. my main focus is food. I drink barely no water and eat on the go a lot. Also snack on big chocolate bars at night!!!

when I lost weight before, I did calorie counting. Eating things I usually would in smaller portions, lots of water and fruit/veg. The hardest part is the first week then it got much easier. I’m starting again today. I’m ashamed of the body I’m in.

my maintenance is 2300 cals so I’ll have 1800 a day to lose 1 lb a week hopefully.

each evening I’ll let you know my daily food diary and if I’ve managed any exercise. Feel free to join me!!

Yesterday:

Overnight oats (same as usual)
Tofu, ikea veg balls, stir fried red cabbage with ginger and spring onion, egg whites (leftover from steak tartare), beetroot juice with fresh ginger
Jacket potato with homemade skagenröra (shrimps, yogurt, fresh dill), grated cheese, daikon, fried red pepper with fennel

Snacks: vegan magnum, piece of kladdkaka, three coffees with oat milk, slice of gf bread and a small 3.5% ipa

2361 kcal, LM Strength Development, 6 km walk (baby sleeps when I have her in the carrier) and beginner hypopressive exercises (floor poses)

Bf makes me crave sugary snacks more than usual, especially around 4 pm. I don’t eat anything after dinner, but earlier in the afternoon I keep reaching for sweet treats.

meagain3 · 18/06/2025 23:44

B - natural valley nut bar

L - tuna sweetcorn and spring onion on slices of cucumber , rocky caramel bar (only 96cals and lovely)

D - Greek style salad , 2 chicken thighs , flatbread

S - peperami, couple of chicken poppers and 3 oreos

Came on my period and really fancying sugar🙈

I’m quite a fussy Eater, I don’t like things like Greek yoghurt, eggs, cottage cheese etc. can be annoying as I look for new recipes to keep the diet interesting but most include those

Hello! Hope it's ok if I join you- desperate for inspiration, motivation and a bit of accountability.

I quit vaping and swapped it for sugar 🫣 I never really got back on the healthy eating regime after Christmas so I have around a stone to drop really. I never used to eat breakfast but since quitting the vape my appetite has come back with a vengeance. It's harder to spread cals over 3 meals instead of 2!

Enjoying reading all your food diaries! Here's mine for day 1:

B: muesli, strawbs, kefir
L: turkey, brie & cranberry sandwich, apple & popchips.
D: packed veggie omelette with some air fried tinned potatoes- so much better than I thought!
Treat: bag of mini Maryland cookies.

Will go and clean my teeth now so I don't eat any more. My evening have been ridiculous the last couple of weeks- binge is the only way I can describe it. I'm aiming for 1400cals a day, will see how that goes and tweak if needed..

Katypp · 19/06/2025 21:28

@vapeaddict I have heard air fried tinned potatoes are surprisingly good - I will have to pluck up the courage to try them.
My menu today (not a fast day)

B: 2 crumpets with chopped cherry tomatoes and a red Leicester cheese sauce melted on top. Strawberries and cherries
L: jacket potato with half a tin of baked beans and two chopped up hot dogs. Grapes
A: Cup of tea and piece of cake
D: Salmon, vegetable rice and HM barbecue sauce
B: Hot chocolate
= 1938 calories

Exercise:
2 x 1 hour walks
15 mins abs video
= 16,000 steps

Fast day tomorrow

meagain3 · 19/06/2025 22:27

@Vapeaddictwelcome!☺️congrats on quitting vaping.

today
B - home made cookie

L - chicken salad sandwich , bag of hula hoops

D - jacket potato with chilli, loaded full of onions peppers and carrot and a dollop of sour cream.

no snacks today. It’s been hard. Really craving sweet things so had one for breakfast calories. Food noise is real right now😅. Not really nutritional day but stayed within calories atleast. Feeling nervous as weigh day approaches😆

editing to say also had a 2 hour stroll around town. It’s hard to get out and walk atm as too hot for baby so haven’t been out much.

They were really tasty @Katypp I raided the spice cupboard for a bit of garlic/paprika etc and used a bit of frylight. I weighed out a portion of chips and was so disappointed at what I'd get for the calories! 100 cals for about a third of the tin/a decent portion as a side.

Thanks @meagain3 I'm hoping that the practice of resisting cravings will stand me in good stead but sugar is a different beast to nicotine. It's easy to "just have a bit"! I think a sweet breakfast is what they do in the Med and they're healthy 😂

Struggling to think of decent hot weather food- not wishing it away but meals are easier when it's just nice!

Katypp · 20/06/2025 21:31

@Vapeaddict I have put a tin on my shopping list!

Fast day for me today:

B: 1 slice fruit loaf, 1tps low-sugar jam
L: curried carrot and lentil soup (BBC recipe and was much nicer than I thought it would be)
Afternoon: 100g cherries. 100g strawberries
D: Chipotle cod and broccoli with mixed grains
B: Hot chocolate

= 814 calories

Exercise: 15 mins weights for arms and shoulders. 2 × 1 hour walk 17,200 steps

Sunshineandrainbow · 20/06/2025 21:34

Lunch crackers, cheese spread and red pepper. Melon and grapes..

Dinner quiche, stir fry and few chips... Ice pop.

3 Sugar free digestives and pack of crisps.

meagain3 · 20/06/2025 21:38

What day will you all be weighing? If I started on a Monday then next Monday?

I weigh on a Saturday (and again on a Sunday if I don't like what I see😂).
1lb down this morning

CortieTat · 21/06/2025 12:47

I weigh myself but I found that the weight can fluctuate a lot because of breastfeeding. I started measuring my waist and hips instead to keep myself motivated. I’ve lost 13 cm from the waist since the first few post-partum days and 6 cm from the hips.

Yesterday was a major national holiday where I live. I still counted calories, I had the recipes saved in my app. I ate over 4000 kcal, mostly in the form of a traditional traybake called koladröm. Felt awful when I got up, I’m not used to eating so much sugar and fat.

meagain3 · 21/06/2025 15:04

@CortieTateveryday is a new day! Get on it again. I will start measuring too.

@Katyppstarted on Monday and today I was also 1lb down. I’m okay with that. It’ll be slower this time round as I’m doing more convenience eating of processed crap!

I think I'll stick with Thursday weighing for now (but do also peek at times!).
I quite like the sound of your fast days @Katypp I'll give it some thought. At the moment I'm trying not to test my willpower too much so don't throw in the towel completely on either the healthy eating or the smoking. Ultimately I'd rather eat a bit too much chocolate than go back to the vape so if that has to give at times I accept it'll be a slower journey for the greater good..

Yesterday was good & on plan with a stir fry for dinner and crackers/sliced meats for lunch.
Today we're having an impromptu date night at a tapas restaurant so I plan to enjoy without going mad. I think it'll be really hard to track even remotely accurately.

Anyone found any particularly good/low cal snacks and hacks? I got some mini pizza flavoured bread sticks from Aldi (80cal a pack) that are great. I use extra light mayo instead of butter on sandwiches. Looking for more ideas!

I weigh myself every morning
I know that's not advised but I am trying to keep track of how my weight is going .
I seem to be losing about a pound a week.i would like to lose more each week but it is coming off.
I started at over 12 stone . I'm not sure of my exact weight as for a long time i just would'nt get on the scales. I started calorie counting felt I was doing quite well as I felt better in myself and my clothes were not so tight so I weighed myself and I was 12 stone 1! Which put me in the obese category for my height.
It was a wake up call for me and I told myself I wouldn't put that much on again without realising so I have gone the other way and check daily now!
Anyway I am now 11 stone 1 . I still have a way to go before I am in the healthy category but I feel so much better and have more energy already I also feel more confident.

I actually find the fast days help with my willpower, because you are never more than one day away from a 'normal' day, when you can eat more than you would be able to if you spread your calories out evenly throughout the week.
I would rather 'suffer' on two days than seven LOL

I've got about 2lb to go before I am officially 'overweight', which will be a major cause for celebration, as 18 months ago, I was 'morbidly obese'.
Trouble is, I am so much thinner than I was and feel great, then I catch sight of myself and realise I still have a way to go :(

BettyBobble · 21/06/2025 19:07

I lost 5 and a half stone a few years back. Eggs are definitely your friend. I swerved sugary stuff and refined carbs. Lots of protein and veggies. Brown rice, no booze or sweets stuff. Lots of movement

You are doing extremely well and have stuck to it for 18 months that's great.
Don't think about how far you have to go just how far you have come.and how much better you feel.

Dancepartykitchen · 21/06/2025 19:20
