few glasses of wine a week

exercise for an hour 2-3 times a week (cardio workout)

given for your height, you are not really overweight at all, you might not lose weight very quickly...

sawyerisyummy · 14/05/2008 13:54

yes, I'm in the healthy range but I just like being thinner and haven't got back to where I was since my 2 yo was born!

You don't sound like you need to lose a stone !

sawyer, you'd probably have to go into starvation mode to lose weight at your current bmi. Never a good move!

jasper · 14/05/2008 14:01

Yes that would work.

I am queen of the borderline healthy weight loss plan!
Further tips that work for me.

.
1)For your evening meal have lean meat and LOTS of veg ( cooked or salad TYPE STUFF) Plus some starchy carbs - brown rice or pasta or potatoes.

2)Don't let yourself get ravenously hungry as therein lies the path of ruin!

3)My prefered exercies for fast weight loss / physique inprovement is fast walking for half an hour or more every day.

4)About once a week have blow out. Go out for dinner and forget about the diet.

  1. I see you have accounted for this but do NOT avoid wine if you relly love it. You can nurse one nice glass for quite a long time for quite a bit of satisfaction.

let us know how you get on.
Good luck.

sawyerisyummy · 14/05/2008 14:01

oh piss, I really want to do it to see if I can! seriously, doing my plan, how long could it take?

OP posts:
sawyerisyummy · 14/05/2008 14:03

Jasper, thank you!!

what is max amount of wine, you think? excluding blow-out day?

best way, says she while balancing laptop on a nice lardy cushion, is to eat what you want for breakfast, have an early lunch of a sandwich on granary bread, with lean protein and lots of salad and a low fat yogurt (important to keep calcium intake in). Afternoon snack of what you fancy, small portion, early dinner of 200g of protein wiht lots of veg and no carbs, fruit for pudding. 2 litres of water a day and 3 glasses of dandelion tea which is a diuretic and makes you wee out the bloat.
And all the exercise and stuff
And always go to bed feeling a little hungry

but don't listen to me as I* 'm a BMI of 25

good luck

suzywong · 14/05/2008 14:10

yes, totally agree about not getting ravenously hungry as there in lies the path to a jumbo cornish pasty.

and you don't need to loose a stone, I am your height and a stone heavier and I don't think I 'm that much of a fat lard. You'd be awfully bony at 9.5 stone, doncha think?

And yes I am being judgemental.

jasper · 14/05/2008 14:14

Remember I am NOT a nutritionist!
Just a sometimes fat mum who has written the book on weight loss (metaphorically speaking)

I try to stretch a bottle to last Mon to Fri ( unheard of if left to my usual greedy ways)

Which equates to one glass a night, or sometimes none.

I also switch from my usual white to red because one glass of red seems more able to be sipped slowly and savoured. WHite is for knocking back!

You could well lose half a stone in the first two or three weeks, then a pound a week after that.

You will feel and look different after one month. Then it gets hard!

DON'T skip meals or over do it. Your body need fuel to function, and needs fuel to burn fat.

WigWamBam · 14/05/2008 14:22

I agree with those who have said 10st 7lb is a healthy weight for someone your height ... maybe all you need is toning up rather than losing weight?

sawyerisyummy · 14/05/2008 14:41

right, think am going to do a blog! to keep me motivated. is that sad or what?

btw, just weighed myself and am 10 sodding 11, not 10.7!

though I usually weigh self in morning (did two mornings ago)

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 14/05/2008 14:50

10 stone sodding 11 is still a healthy weight for 5 foot sodding 7

Don't get too hung up on the scales - that way madness lies. Your weight fluctuates from day to day (even from hour to hour) so you should only weigh yourself once a week, at the same time each week. Hopping on and off the scales day in and day out will drive you barmy.

sawyerisyummy · 14/05/2008 18:42

I know, Wigwambam... Just feel the need to get back to "old" weight, just to see if I can!

This is what I eat at the mo, I'm trying to lose a bit of weight before my birthday day out.

breakfast - fruit, berries and 1/2 apple, and muller light
snack - oatcakes or fruit
lunch - ham and salad sandwich, made with only one piece of bread, vege soup.
snack - carrot sticks and other veges with low fat cottage cheese
dinner - small portion rice and stir fried veges, or pasta and veges, or big salad with ham
snack - a bit of cheese, brie usually, a tiny bit. or a couple of squares of dark choc.

no alcohol
lots and lots of peppermint tea and water and diluted fresh orange juice.
exercise every other day
It isn't enough food really, but I wont stick to it for long.

belcantavinissima · 14/05/2008 18:54

beansmum, how much weight are you trying to lose?

OP posts:
beansmum · 14/05/2008 19:02

Just had to weigh myself to check, I usually just go by the tightness of my jeans! It's worse than I thought, about 1/2 a stone.

sawyerisyummy · 14/05/2008 19:04

oh, it always is worse than you think isn't it? how long you think it'll take?
