Louise Parker Method

I can see there are some older threads for the Loiuse Parker Method, but was wondering if anyone was still doing it and wanted to join in another one. I had great success with it the last time I did it and am giving it another go. I'll probably need to do two rounds to get to my goal and would love to hear from people who have done it before.

Hi! I just loosely did my first 6 weeks in the Louise Parker Method, and am ready to go again-- for real this time! I didn't see much activity on Insta, so I came here via Google. I would love to have someone to check in with!

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 27/02/2025 07:29

Hi AnnaMacAZ! Yay, let's check in with each other!
I know you said you followed the Louise Parker Method loosely, but how did you go with your first six weeks?
I'm doing a prep week this week then I'm diving in head first next week.

OP posts:
AnnaMacAZ · 27/02/2025 15:59

Yay! I used the recipes for my breakfast and lunch, and at dinner I just didn't eat the sides my husband made (rice, potatoes, bread, etc), I cut out sugar, and I already don't drink alcohol. I only did 1-2 workouts each week, but I did increase my steps each week. I also did some decluttering and digital detox in the evenings. I ended up losing 8 lbs (3.6 kg)! I fit into some t-shirts that had gotten a bit snug in the past year. I'm very happy with the first 6 weeks!

I injured my back two weeks ago, so I'm starting my next 6 weeks slowly. I'm getting my husband to look at the dinner recipes, and help me with portions. I'm going to modify the exercises to make sure I don't hurt my back further, but it has been healing nicely.

Do you want to check in daily? Weekly? I'm excited to have found a friend to check in with!

Cheers,
Anna

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 01/03/2025 03:22

Sorry to hear you hurt your back, is it getting better? Well done on your first 6 weeks, what an awesome result! I'm not sure how much weight I lost when I first did it (i dont weigh myself) but was able to fit into clothes that had become too small, it's a great feeling! Unfortunately that while a while ago and the weight I lost (plus some extra) is back on 😢

My plan is to follow the recipes and change bits or add onto them for the rest of the family (hubby and 3 kids), 10, 000 steps a day and workout 6 days for 40 mins with a mix of pilates, dance cardio, strength and yoga. I've started decluttering my bedroom and bathroom spaces to help with a calmer night time routine and better sleep! I'll continue on with that while I go along.

I think I'll check in daily, it will help me stay focused. I'm so excited to have "met" you and that we can support each other!

Sounds good! I love all your workout options! My back is on the mend; I just need to be careful. I'm adding pilates to strengthen my core and support my back. I'm starting fresh today with Week 1. Here we go!

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 04/03/2025 06:20

Happy to hear you are on the mend, here we go!

Didn't get to check in for day one yesterday, the virus my kids have had hit me, plus miss 5 who has just started school was an emotional wreck. I managed 6,000 steps (my minimum when I am sick) and pushed through 40 mins of pilates and ate:
Br: chocolate and raspberry bircher
Lu: crunchy crab salad (with prawns instead of crab)
D: Lovely lentil bake with salad

Snacks: little margherita pizza and cinnamon chips with chocolate dip.

Today the virus hit me hard and I was exhausted after getting my two youngest to school, my eldest is home sick, no workout, i needed to rest, but I've done 6,000 steps already. My eating is a bit out of whack because I'm not overly hungry and my throat really hurts:

Br/lunch two eggs on one slice of toasted dark rye bread with avocado, red onion and chilli

Snacks: two brown rice cakes with peanut butter and cinnamon chips with chocolate dip.

Dinner will be: lovely lentil bake.

I'm really hoping to be able to work out tomorrow, but this virus is pretty awful 🙁

Hope you are going well xxx

So sorry to hear you're sick! Ugh, that must be frustrating right when you're starting this 6 weeks! There's a great YouTube channel I follow: Yoga with Adriene. She has a "Yoga for when you're Sick" video that I like. I hope you feel better soon!

Monday I did 30 minutes of Physical Therapy, but today I plan to follow the Week 1 work out with modifications as necessary.

Yesterday I ate porridge with strawberries and nut butter for brekkie. Snack was oat cakes with nut butter and seeds. For lunch I had leftover masala spinach and paneer from the weekend, and dinner was Asian chicken stir fry over zucchini "noodles."

Today I started with a protein shake and will have bircher in a little while. I want to try the mini Margherita pizzas, and not sure about dinner yet.

Rest well!!

AnnaMacAZ · 06/03/2025 04:26

I did the week 1 workout from the book on Tuesday. I haven't done it since before I hurt my back, so wasn't sure what to expect. Fortunately, it went well! I felt strong and was able to complete most of the exercises over 40 minutes. I only modified two of them to protect my back. All day I had felt sluggish, but after working out I was on fire! It felt so great!

Today I did 30 minutes of physical therapy. I have also been doing yoga and meditations through YouTube before bedtime.

Dinner the last two nights was out, so I modified what I ordered to stay on the plan (Burger wrapped in lettuce, no fries or sauce). I've been photographing my food as she suggests, but it's far from Instagram worthy! I'm thinking of buying new snack sized plates and bowls, as ours are plastic so the kids won't break them. 😂

Hope you're feeling better and having a nice week!
Cheers,
Anna

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 07/03/2025 07:04

Thank you, it is frustrating being so sick just as I'm starting this again! I haven't been able to workout over the last few days but I have been sticking to the way of eating, so that's a positive. I feel like I've improved a bit this afternoon, so hopefully I can workout tomorrow.

Sounds like you are doing really well! How is your back holding up with the workouts?

Sorry for not being consistent with checking in, I've just felt so rotten with this virus xxx

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 08/03/2025 09:47

Feeling a lot better today, didn't quite feel up for a workout but spent quite a few hours doing stuff around the house and got over 8,000 steps in. Breakfast was eggs, over sauteed silverbeet, red onions and chilli plus a small slice of toasted dark rye, lunch was a chicken salad, dinner was lovely lentil bake and salad. My snack was cheese and crackers, I probably could have done better there, I'll try and get some food prep in tomorrow so I'm a bit more organised.

Hope you are going well! X

Glad you're starting to feel better! It sucks feeling sick when you just want to get up and go!

My back has felt good through this week. Yesterday I went to the gym and five minutes of rowing, five minutes on the stairs, and a fifteen minute walk. Later today I'll do the 40 minute circuit from the book.

I need to expand my snack and breakfast repertoire. I keep doing the same things and am getting bored, even though each new recipe I try from the books is usually delicious!

Tomorrow we're going on a trip for a few days, but I'll try to stay on The Method. I should be able to work out in the hotel. I'll have to bring some nuts and fruit so I have easy snacks available. Wish me luck!

Cheers,
Anna

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 09/03/2025 09:36

That's great to hear that you went to the gym and that your back is feeling good!

I'm in the same boat with snacks, I need to find a couple more that I actually like to change things up a bit.

I did a Dance Cardiowork out for just over 40 mins this morning and got over 10,000 steps in, so feeling a bit proud of myself!
Breakfast was a smoothie, lunch a chicken salad and dinner was lovely lentil bake and salad. Snack was a mini margherita pizza.

Good luck with your trip! X

Not sure if you are away yet, but hope you are having a great time if you are!

I did a strength workout today that was just under 40 mins, plus a long walk with my sister and our kids and managed over 10,000 steps.

Breakfast: two eggs over sauteed spinach, red capsicum and red onion
Lunch: homemade burger patties and salad
Dinner: Mexican chicken and salsa
Snack: apple and nut butter

Feeling tired, buts nice going to bed tired and I feel like I have been sleeping better lately.

Hello, I started this yesterday, please may I join?

Feeling super motivated. I read the books a few years ago, but it didn't really resonate.
Have re read and can see where it matches the nutritional advice by Tim Spector et al and feel it is the right lifestyle for me.

In the circle yesterday with balanced eating and "rent" was 30 mins of bedtime yoga, and steps ✓ with doggy walk .

I love yoga and pilates but have long known I need to increase HIIT.

5 mini meals seems a lot, especially for a long term IF but we shall see.
All weighed and measured and ready to go!

Good luck both today!

AnnaMacAZ · 11/03/2025 15:50

Welcome! It's always nice to have more for support!!

We spent all day driving to our destination on Sunday so I didn't get my steps in, but I stayed track with food. Yesterday we went to the zoo, so I got my steps in! However, I fell off track and had a curry roll for breakfast (it was either that or a croissant, so at least I had protein), but dinner was a kofta salad.

It's hard to eat on The Method while on a trip, but I'm not going to try my best. Hope you both are doing well.

Cheers,
Anna

Buntyforgirls · 12/03/2025 07:34

Trying our best is what it's all about. It's great that you are being mindful when away, that is always a challenge. Good luck today, and enjoy the hols!

Buntyforgirls · 12/03/2025 07:42

Forgot to say, day 2 ✓.
Followed the eating guidelines, but was full on 2 meals, and 1 snack of protein powder in tea, and not hungry. Trying recipes from 6 week plan.
Daily exercise - HIIT, yoga and then bedtime stretches. Walk with doggy.
Cookbook arriving Friday which I am disproportionately excited about!
Have a good day, both!

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 14/03/2025 08:55

Of course, welcome!

I think it's important to acknowledge that there will be times where it is difficult to follow the method perfectly, it's all part of the dance, as LP says in her books. You are trying your best and that's great! Hope you are having a wonderful time.

I have taken a rest from working out for a couple of days, I just felt like that's what my body needed, but have been on track with eating and steps. Back into it again tomorrow.

Hope you are both having a great day too! X

Going to have a good flick through my LFL cookbook and plan some healthy food for the weekend.(While sipping a mint tea, if course!)
Lovely morning, so hopefully we can feel motivated to embrace moving.
Here's to a positive day!

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 16/03/2025 08:43

How are you finding the cookbook?

I'm feeling a bit flat today, I think I need to make sure I'm getting enough protein, especially when I'm more active. I did some of food preparation today to make sure I've got plenty of protein rich meals/snacks for the next few days.

Hope you are both having a lovely weekend x

AnnaMacAZ · 17/03/2025 01:39

Hello lovely ladies! I had such a nice time in San Diego, but now it's time to get back on track. I did my best while traveling (eggs, sausage and an orange for brekkie most days), but I did have a burger and fries, and one night we had sushi. But tonight, we're having chicken and zoodles. My biggest challenge will be fitting in enough work out sessions. I can do 2 for sure.

Here's to a new week!

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 17/03/2025 09:30

So glad you had a lovely time away Anna! I wouldn't stress to much, holidays are for enjoying! Can you fit in smaller workout sessions on the days you cant do a full one?

Feeling better today after focusing on more protein. I did a strength workout and over 10,000 steps.
Breakfast: Sophie's Fluffy Pancakes
Lunch: chicken and chickpea salad
Dinner: Baked Sweet Potato topped with avocado, tuna, chicpeas, red onion and capsicum and broccolini on the side.
Snacks: protein and electrolyte powder in water and cinnamon chips with chocolate dip.

OP posts:
AnnaMacAZ · 17/03/2025 17:37

That sweet potato sounds so good!! Glad you're feeling better and increasing protein. I have always struggled with getting enough protein, and it's so important for us in this phase to get through the workouts.

You're right about the workouts-- I have been so focused on getting 40 minutes in 4 sessions a week. I just need to squeeze in 2 20-minute sessions. And while I'm doing 20 minutes I'll probably just keep going for an extra 10 anyway. Thanks for pointing that out! 😊

It's morning here, so I'll report back later on food and fitness for the day.

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 18/03/2025 09:25

The sweet potato was good, it felt like a treat! 😂

I know, I get caught up on the longer length of a workout too, any movement is better than none!

Feeling sore today but managed a dance cardio workout and over 10,000 steps.
Breakfast: Sophie's fluffy pancakes
Lunch: chicken salad
Dinner: I used the lovely lentil bake recipe but used chicken mince instead of the lentils and a bit of homemade garlic bread...and not feeling bad about it
Snacks: cinnamon chips and choc dip plus apple and nut butter

Tired and sore and can't wait for bed!

OP posts:
AnnaMacAZ · 18/03/2025 15:33

Dance cardio is fun! And the garlic bread-- sometimes you just need it.

Yesterday I managed to do a 20 minute workout after work. Yay!

Brekkie: bircher with blackberries, small latte with almond milk

Snacks: protein shake and coffee, nuts and a banana

Lunch: leftover chicken with zoodles

Dinner: corned beef with cabbage and carrots

I reached my steps goal of 7800. I did gentle yoga before bed and read for awhile.

❤️ Anna
