Louise Parker Method

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 25/02/2025 02:14

I can see there are some older threads for the Loiuse Parker Method, but was wondering if anyone was still doing it and wanted to join in another one. I had great success with it the last time I did it and am giving it another go. I'll probably need to do two rounds to get to my goal and would love to hear from people who have done it before.

Yay to a 20 minute workout!

Pilates and 10,000 steps for me today.
Breakfast: chocolate and raspberry bircher
Lunch: chicken salad
Dinner: Mexican chicken with salad
Snacks: 2 brown rice cakes with nut butter and cinnamon chips and choc dip

I spent some time looking through the first LP book finding some different recipes to add to the mix so I don't get bored over the next week. I need to change things up a bit!

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 22/03/2025 20:49

I've been a bit busy over the last few days, but have been plugging along. I think I'm starting to see some changes, of course they aren't as drastic as I'd like, but I need to check myself sometimes about being realistic and not giving up because change is slow. I've just done a lovely yoga session and am feeling nicely stretched out and less sore than I was when I woke up. I am about to start doing some food prep to set me up for the week.

How is everyone going? x

I was sick for a few days last week, but I think I've beat it. I did not do well working out, but just did some relaxing yoga. I honestly didn't have much energy anyway.

I feel more optimistic about this week. I had a sneak peak at my weight and the scale hasn't moved, but my clothes are fitting much better. I've been re-reading both books (The 6 Week Programme, and Lean For Life) as it motivates me to stay on track.

Alright gals, week four! Let's do it!

Buntyforgirls · 25/03/2025 09:45

Such positive energy! I have to say, I am still v motivated by this method as it resonates with how I would like to live my life healthily.
Enjoying the food, am finding it easy to adapt to how I aim to eat. Although even by week 3 I am 'stepping outside the ⭕ ' , but I do step back in. I am really happy with the weight I am losing and the waist I am regaining!
Trying the lentil bake with avocado salad for dinner tonight, and, in line with my attempt to eat more legumes, will have hummus on oat biscuits with carrot and tomatoes. I like the way her recipes, even snacks, include a range of vegetables to help reach the 30 different plants a week aim.
Exercise wise, I too find the prospect of 40 mins a bit off-putting - I like 20, and then usually do more too. Probably better to do this than think ' I haven't time/ desire to do 40 mins' .I hope!
What new exercises are you trying? I have an old style aerobic/ conditioning class -(called something more dynamic these days, but this seems to be what it boils down to!)-set for next week .
Sorry to ramble on!
Have a great week!

Buntyforgirls · 25/03/2025 09:47

Sorry you were feeling poorly @AnnaMacAZ , hope you are feeling better💐.

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 29/03/2025 08:04

Glad to hear you are feeling better Anna.

I had a fall playing with my daughter the other day and have a very sore, swollen, black and blue knee. I'm okay but haven't been able to workout or walk much, which is really frustrating. A bit of emotional eating has happened as a result, but I'm going to get myself back on track.

What did you think of the lentil bake Buntyforgirls? I too am trying to fit more legumes in my diet.

OP posts:
BeigeBrigadeBabe · 31/03/2025 08:52

Knee is still badly bruised, but might try a workout tomorrow as it is feeling better. I miss working out!
I've been eating back on the plan and feel a lot better, I'm glad I didn't give up.

How is everyone going? X

OP posts:
Buntyforgirls · 01/04/2025 12:03

How is your knee @BeigeBrigadeBabe ?
The lentil bake was a little underwhelming, but I too am trying to increase legume consumption - not found an exciting recipe yet...
Good luck with this week. Just reading through week 4 goals- I like having lists to tick off!
Happy to report that tummy bloat and weight are decreasing, and my skin and hair look so much healthier from the good food- although absolute perfect ⭕ days are not consistent. Exercise, even if not always 40 mins 4 times a week, is always a daily effort, even if only some bedtime yoga stretches, so that habit is "sticking".
Also, love my bedtime routine, but that has been in place a while and doesn't seem natural if I don't follow it.
Off to choose some more recipes to try out...
Enjoy the sunshine!

AnnaMacAZ · 01/04/2025 17:48

I'll be honest, it's been rough lately. I do mostly fine with eating, but my back has been bothering me and now my iron is low. My energy is so low. But I'm not going to slide backwards. I'll just keep eating well.

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 04/04/2025 09:53

Hi! My knee is getting better and I'm able to do standing ballet style workouts and walk more now. I'm on holiday for a bit with the family, which I desperately need, my mental health hasn't been great lately.

That's great news Buntyforgirls, it's great to see results for the hard work you are putting in! Let me know what recipes you try next.

I'm sorry to hear about your back and low iron Anna, it's frustrating to have these obstacles. Is anything helping your back?

Xxx

OP posts:
AnnaMacAZ · 04/04/2025 16:36

Beige, glad your knee is feeling better. Have fun on your holiday! It's so important to take care of your mental health. ❤️

I have doing yoga and taking walks, but need to make sure to keep up with physical therapy exercises. Work is just really hard on my back. I'm a nurse in surgery, so I stand a lot and have to lift heavy things.

I've had to add protein to each meal (bacon and bircher for brekkie!), and I have an iron infusion scheduled this weekend. My energy should be better after that! I'm just glad I'm doing this program right now, or I would probably have started stress- eating. 😂

Have a great weekend ladies!

Buntyforgirls · 08/04/2025 08:34

Just setting up for week 5.
I like her holistic approach to life. I am feeling much more positive and motivated - it helps that it's a beautiful sunny day, of course!
Weight and exercise are going well, and sleep too. Need to declutter this week.

Recipes I like the best are her breakfasts and snacks, and the wide range of plants. And the advice to plan for protein, healthy carbs and watching portion size.
None of which is rocket science, but sometimes it helps to have it spelt out, follow it and monitor the results.

How are you both finding it? Any improvement in health and niggles?
Enjoy the beautiful week!

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 12/04/2025 22:14

Hi Anna and Bunty! I'm back from my holiday and feeling so much better. I wasn't perfect while away, but I think I had a good balance in terms of eating. My knee is still a bit of an issue and can only do standing workouts and can't walk for a great length of time, but rather than push myself too (as I would have done in the past), I'm just listening to my body and doing what I can. I am loving Ballet Beautiful workouts, they are perfect right now (the standing and barre ones).

Hopefully your energy has improved after your iron infusion, Anna? How is your back?

I am feeling an energy shift, Bunty, my sleep is much better and I can see the most change in my face (thinner and skin looks clearer and more radiant).

How is everyone going? xxx

AnnaMacAZ · 14/04/2025 18:29

Beige and Bunty,

So glad to hear things are going well!

Beige, it sounds like you really needed a holiday. Sorry your knee is still bothering you. That's great that you've found Ballet Beautiful workouts! I love ballet. I sometimes do Kathryn Morgan's ballet YouTube videos.

Bunty, I am still in the decluttering phase. With two kids, we've accumulated so much over the years. I'm just going section by section to make it manageable.

It feels like the iron infusion is finally working! I have more energy again. I'm also taking desiccated liver supplements as I can't seem to get enough protein. I've been strengthening my core muscles to help support my back. I did a 20 minute workout from the book yesterday, and felt amazing afterwards!

I'm going to do another six weeks on Method now that my back and iron levels are better. I feel so much better when I'm not eating sugar and high GI carbs. My brain seems to function better, my skin looks great, and I'm happier. I'm so glad to have found Louise Parker's books!

Hope you ladies have a lovely week!

Cheers,
Anna

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 16/04/2025 10:51

I'm so glad you are feeling better Anna, yay for iron infusions! It's great that this method is helping too. I'll be doing another six weeks too, I can't wait to see and feel the results after another round.

Ballet is doing wonders for my knee. I remember doing some of Kathryn Morgan's workouts a couple of years ago. I also love Sleek Technique.

I need to get back to decluttering now that I'm back home, it feels overwhelming though, we too have just accumulated so much stuff. I know it will be so much better when it is done, but...ugh.

I'm not sure if either of you ever watched Ladies Of London (I'm rewatching at the moment) but I was inspired to buy Caroline Fleming's English cook book "Cook Yourself Happy" off ebay. I'm so glad I did, she eats in a way similar to LP and it means I can change things up a bit. Xxx

Buntyforgirls · 17/04/2025 10:36

That sounds interesting @BeigeBrigadeBabe , I love a new cook book!
Glad you are feeling more energetic @AnnaMacAZ - I have been fighting off some sort of virus this week, and today, at last, I feel well and energy is returning, hurray!
I may go new swimsuit shopping/ trying on to see! Weight wise I am nearly there, but shape wise sadly not- yet.
I am going to check out the ballet workouts- still have dreams of being graceful in a tutu!- maybe this should be my next visualisation for round 2.
Enjoy the Easter weekend- I am anticipating a stride out of the circle, especially as I have lots of home baking planned. Have fun!

AnnaMacAZ · 22/04/2025 01:11

Happy Easter! 🐣🐰⛪️

I enjoyed a few family favs that are most certainly off Method including lefse (with a good amount of butter and sugar), rosemary broiled potatoes, and angelfood cake. I ate light today (mostly due to stomach cramps!) and also got in a workout. I feel great now!

Beige, I have a lot of decluttering to do, too. All our extra stuff is in boxes in the former nursery as my girls share a room. We are hopefully moving in the near future, so I may just declutter my bedroom for now.

Bunty, best of luck with swim shopping! I've been wearing sport shorts with a sports bra to the pool for a few years now. Maybe this summer will change? 😆

Xx

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 27/04/2025 11:09

Hello! Hope everyone had a lovely Easter!

We were flat chat up until Easter, then gastro hit the house, that was fun. Finally felt up to working out again yesterday, but still feel a bit flat. Can't wait to get my energy back.

Hope everyone is going well xxx

AnnaMacAZ · 28/04/2025 15:14

Same here! Everyone in my house had some stomach bug over the weekend (except my youngest, thank goodness!), and I've not quite got my appetite back. However, last week I got in 3 workouts, and feel great about that! Fitting in tone to workout has been my greatest struggle. As long as I decide what days to do it and tell my kids to leave me to it, I can get it done.

Have a good week, ladies!

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 29/04/2025 10:38

Oh no Anna, sorry to hear you had same. Glad to hear you are feeling better I'm still a bit flat too. Well done on the workouts! Workouts have slipped a bit lately, esp with my knee, but I'm going to work on doing more this week. As much as I've enjoyed Ballet Beautiful, I think I'm getting a little bored so will need to add other things on too.

OP posts:
Buntyforgirls · 03/05/2025 09:38

Hope everyone is feeling better - hopefully the sunshine is helping!

I'm still hoping to loose a final few pounds ( but they keep finding me, pesky things!)

Going to keep going to 4 more pounds I think, realised I've not ever completed a whole week entirely in the circle, but it still has worked- just more slowly, but I am fine with that.
The principles are mainly in line with those recommend by those such as Dr chattergee/ Tim Spector/ Andrew Jenkinson.
I like it.
How are you both finding it?
Enjoy the bank hol!

Buntyforgirls · 04/05/2025 08:42

Good morning, something to report... I actually had a whole day in the circle ⭕ yesterday! First since 17 th April. They are few and far between, looking back.

Happy with the food and weight, sleep hygiene - nearly ready to move into our newly renovated home so will keep that spick and span(hopefully!) . So, going to pay more attention to exercise, specifically strength training - following plans by Caroline Idiens - Fit at Fifty, starting this week.

Feeling motivated, hope all is going well for you too!

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 05/05/2025 10:43

Well done Bunty! How exciting to move back into your home and have the renovations over and done with.

Strength training is something I am looking at adding back in and being consistent with (I've only done it sporodically). I've been able to workout longer so am feeling really sore now, it's a good feeling though, I find my body changes the more I can challenge it. Since I'm getting bored with Ballet Body (but not enough to give it up), I'm going to alternate it with Hamelin d'abell and Anna Kaiser workouts. That should give me a good mix of ballet, dance, strength so that I can be consistent with all of them every week.

Feeling motivated now too! Hope you have a lovely week!

OP posts:
AnnaMacAZ · 08/05/2025 17:43

You two are crushing it! Nicely done! 👏

This week I'm increasing my step count, which is usually no problem when I'm at work. I do need to increase my strength training too! I also have a goal of cooking an actual meal from one of the books, as my husband normally takes care of all that.

Hope all continues to go well for you both!

BeigeBrigadeBabe · 10/05/2025 11:50

Thanks Anna!
Slowly on the mend from a rather severe form of gastro hitting the house since my last post. Tummy's are still quite tender and eating all over the place, often no one wants to eat and when we do it's usually the more starchy stuff that is the only thing that our stomachs can take. I feel like we are just constantly getting sick lately, it's frustrating 🙁
