I am 5ft2 and 11 stones heavy. The heaviest I have been in my whole life.
I need to get back in track with gym and moderate eating, was wondering if you’d like to share an average day pf eating, if you are someone who is careful not to gain weight/stays slim.
Obv I appreciate it also depends on how much movement, metabolism, age etc.
I have a big appetite and usually have big dinners, as well as a couple of take outs a week which together with a sedentary office life, have slowly contributed to my weight gain.

I'm 5 foot 3, 9. 5 stone and 50 years old.

Greek yog, nuts and berries

Eggs on toast/sardines on toast /tuna salad/ chicken salad sandwich, apple

Meat and veg/curry with veg

Usually have a glass of wine and some nuts as a snack

Am half a stone heavier than I want to be but exercise a great deal and don't want to be hungry

suki1964 · 24/02/2025 13:49

What's with the slagging of people who just don't eat much? Why is it always on this site - competitive under eating????

Im 60, 5'2 and 9st 4

I do go to slimming world but been a target member coming up two years so pretty comfy with my weight , it goes up and down like over Christmas/holidays etc, but it soon comes off

My eating habits are terrible because I tend to eat when hungry or remember . Today I was up for work at 5am, had a black coffee in work and am now sat here thinking I should perhaps go get something to eat - Ive not had a bite yet today , Im sat here drinking a large cappuccino with ff milk Just not feeling the hunger yet

Usually , Im up at 5 - work 6/30 to 10/30, home, take the dog out for a two mile walk , home about 12, make my coffee and grab a huge bowl of frozen berries, nuke them till bubbling, add 45gr sugar free granola stuff then completely smother it with greek yoghurt - I mean smother, add a banana or pear or kiwi chopped over the top and that then sees me through to dinner - 7pm - tonight its boiled ham, roast potatoes and parsnips, red cabbage and sprouts

Other brunches I would have would be a lentil Dahl packed with spinach and sweet potato or squash, and a chicken fillet on the side, or a huge open sandwich, piles of salad veg and pickles like sauerkraut and dare I say a tin of pilchards or sardines ( oily fish )

Dinners are bog standard dinners served in homes all over - spag Bol, roasts, shepherds pie , curry, fish and chips. And I eat till Im full, not stuffed to bursting

I tend not to have pudding

But every day is different. Last week I couldn't get warm, I felt hungry ALL the time, seriously I was sitting with hunger which never happens

mylittledoggie · 24/02/2025 13:52

When I'm being sensible in the week I normally have:
2 slices of toast with PB and banana
Chicken and veg stir fry
Family dinner minus the carbs
Porridge
Few snacks along the way too maybe an apple, nuts or prawns.

I try and run 10km daily and do weights about 4 times a week.

One meal a day? Or a tiny yoghurt for breakfast and a ham sandwich for lunch? Fuck that, that's disordered eating and not healthy at all. How do you stay active? I'd rather be a bit overweight and fit with strong muscles and bones and not regularly snap like a twig with osteoporosis in a few years' time.

Who are you referring to?

Daisy54 · 24/02/2025 14:15

Breakfast- 2 eggs, 2 toasts, banana and tea
Lunch- meat, rice and veg
dinner- veg soup and steamed veg and if really hungry then meat and rice too.

age 56, weigh 57kg and 169cm tall.

Movinginthesunlight · 24/02/2025 14:22

The people are skipping one or two meals a day most likely have some form of disordered eating. Also, their breath's probably stink, it is well known that your breath stinks until you have had something to eat, regardless of your dental hygiene, especially the ones living on coffee.

RaspberryBeretxx · 24/02/2025 14:27

I’m 5’3”, 45 and have hovered around 9 stone or a little under since having dc2 (which was roughly age 40 so not sure which had more impact). I used to be 8 stone 5 to 8 stone 7 lbs and found that half a stone makes a big difference so low carbing to get back down. I can’t face counting anything and find low carbing does something to my appetite so I feel so much less hungry and just better in general.

B - 2 egg omlette friend in butter
or if in a massive rush some salami and cheese or full fat Greek yog and a few berries

L - big salad with ham/tuna/chicken/egg/cheese and vinaigrette. Sometimes a crunchy salad (shredded cabbage, carrot, cucumber, peppers etc) with some chicken and peanut dressing. Or I do quick lettuce wraps with little gem lettuce and pile up with ham, cheese, mayo and japapenos.
today I had a zero sugar jelly as feeling snacks after.

D - bolognese sauce with lots of green veg and some cheese on top.

i do drink wine quite often also but find if i follow the above i slowly lose weight even with a bit of wine added in.

Pootlemcsmootle · 24/02/2025 14:32

Usually protein bar for breakfast, brown bread sandwich for lunch, something like spaghetti, dolmio and sweetcorn for dinner, lots of water, couple of coffees, no alcohol (just don't fancy it really). I'll have a treat if I feel like it.

Nice and judgemental, bit spiteful too.

Hughs · 24/02/2025 15:50

Judgemental, spiteful and also ignorant, well done 👏👏

suki1964 · 24/02/2025 16:00

@Movinginthesunlight Were you always a bitch or do you work on it?

Onlygoneanddoneit · 24/02/2025 16:20

I'm 55, 5'7" and 10st. Within a few pounds I've been the same weight all my adult life.

I pretty much eat what I like but three homemade meals a day. I never snack, rarely have dessert (and no other sugar, see no snacking), and hardly ever eat after 6:30pm. Hardly anything processed and a takeaway or meal out is a rare treat. I also exercise loads.

If I do gain weight (a few pounds) it's always because I've been eating too much bread and I can get it off by cutting the bread out for a while.

I love food and cooking, but on the whole prefer good food from fresh ingredients to processed sugary things.

I should say this is how I was brought up to eat - not a concious decision on my part to be "good" or healthy.

Wrong. I have a healthy attitude to food and eat really well, I just skip breakfast which was only ever a boiled egg with a piece of wholemeal toast or a bowl of porridge anyway. . I’d say eating lots of sugary and fatty snacks is pretty disordered but these days overeating is normal. No wonder there’s a crisis. Also my breath does not stink. DH doesn’t fast and would soon tell me.

I don’t eat breakfast, never have. I don’t have disordered eating, nor halitosis.

Intermittent fasting, and the resultant autophagy, is proven to be very beneficial, health-wise.

AQuickDeathInTexas · 24/02/2025 16:49

I sometimes skip a meal because I'm genuinely not hungry. If you're eating three meals a day, regardless of whether you're hungry or not, how is that healthy? That's just eating for the sake of it surely?

In my case I might eat a large cooked breakfast therefore I won't need any lunch.
Or I might have a small breakfast, large lunch, and a very light supper or none at all.

In other parts of the world they don't eat just because the clock is telling them it must be time for one of their three meals a day.

I follow Slimming World, was obese previously and now I'm not.
My DH refused to try it, he hates feeling hungry and it really affects his mood if he is.
After Christmas he owned up to his obesity and said he'd give it a go and copy my way of eating. It's been a revelation to him, going from a bowl of cereal or toast to a cooked breakfast has really helped with feeling fuller for longer. This was a man who panicked if it got near noon with no food in sight. He's lost a stone in a month and seems so much brighter.

Tonight we're having steak with homemade chips and loads of veggies.

Agree 💯

I suppose some people are just happy with very low calorie diets and teeny amounts of food?

Doesn't work for me. I tend to eat 5 times a day, decent amounts too. I find that if I go too low cal it will stall any weight loss. I tend to lose on about 1700 and maintain on 1800-2000 cals.
I don't know how people are exercising a lot on low calorie diets......I'd be ravenous!😁

OfNoOne · 24/02/2025 20:05

Breakfast: half a croissant (shared with one of my DC, who ate some then decided it was terrible and that I had to eat it), fruit and veg smoothie (also shared with the same DC - "swapsies!")

Lunch: omelette with chopped tomatoes, leafy salad and toasted sourdough bread

Snack: a little 'delicious' home baking made by DC (I was genuinely surprised - usually their baking is pretty good, but this was... not.)

Dinner: 'spicy' hummus, falafels and salad

Fasting is not about low calorie or teeny amounts it’s about not eating and the eating within a certain time.

This thread is just what I've been looking for!

I feel I know everything about healthy eating, and try my best to follow it. Only eating between 7am - 7pm each day.

Don't snack

Avoid sugar and ultra processed foods.

Have started running 3 x a week, yoga 2 x a week, gym & weights 1 x a week

No longer drink alcohol

But... I'm heavier than ever.

I'm 5'7 and 12 stone, with a really big belly

I love food, love big portions, and really feel unwell if I get hungry.

Breakfast: porridge oats, full fat Greek yogurt, full fat milk, fruit

Lunch: oat cake's cheese and apple, or jacket potato with tuna and cheese plus apple

Dinner: stir fry veg and noodles, or sweet potato, or homemade lasagna etc

That doesn't sound so bad does it?

But... I'm considering replacing evening meal with cabbage soup or something. I'm generally not even that hungry in the evening.

The downside of all my exercise is it makes me crave sugar- so the sugar usually sneaks in after a run.

Far too many carbs.

Not it’s not Food sounds great but watch your portions

struggling24 · 25/02/2025 09:45

Yea thanks for the posters who've said I eat too many carbs. It's quite good to have my diet sense checked like that.

I don't eat white bread, and try to eat complex carbs, but I suppose looking at a picture of my day it is very carb heavy in every meal.

At least now I have something specific to try to change.
As I've actually been on a health kick for about a year - so it's disappointing to see me getting heavier!

But I have to say, I've been in great health, great skin and sex drive 😉 so I don't want to mess with what's working too much.

Carbs are NOT the enemy. Sugar is.
