Aww. I'm not having proper meals, just healthy food in fridge and cupboard. I'm doing quite well using items up. I plan to make a list for next shopping trip so I can make some nice meals for a change.

ToutesetBonne · 11/04/2025 07:51

The chocolate got me.....

TalkToTheHand123 · 11/04/2025 11:51

A few weeks no chocolate now. Whenever I had some, I'd make myself feel shame, asked myself does this really taste as good as I believed and reminded myself of the sickly feeling. Also my skin became worse with chocolate. A bit easier to resist now. Chocolate is not your friend.

Storyland · 11/04/2025 14:12

Congratulations on 100 days alcohol free @thenewaveragebear1983! That's amazing.

I've been up and down this week. Walking a bit more but no runs in. Going on a walk this evening. I don't even want to talk about diet but there's an empty tub of Ben and Jerries in the bin

But mentally I've been feeling brighter. I've changed up my morning routine. Swapping Twitter scrolling in bed for Bible and prayer time at the dining room table looking out at the garden. Not surprising that this is actually much more enjoyable and puts me in a better mindframe to start the day.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/04/2025 15:01

Thank you @Storyland. I’ll be honest, it hadn’t really felt like a chore. I was ready I think.

I’m feeling a bit meh today. I just went into the loft to get down a pair of shorts because the weather is looking lovely tomorrow and I want to do some gardening, sounds daft but seeing all those summer clothes that last year I was so determined to he back into and I’m still not there…. It’s all a bit depressing isn’t it? Especially as the last few months I really have been trying - no alcohol, exercise, trying very hard to come in under budget on calories….. it’s very slow isn’t it, and i feel a bit (lot) deflated. This is partly/mostly because I’m tired and due on so I feel really blue anyway, but 😭

Awww. I've found trying to accept weightloss isn't going to be a quick process and just changing little habits to be the best way for me to lose weight.

I don't weigh myself very often and just focus on trying to keep to better habits as these should help me lose weight without thinking about it.

When I think about food, I drink a glass of water while I decide what to eat. Sometimes I don't even bother having food at that moment. I also have a glass after also after food. Having this habit has really helped over the last few weeks since starting. Quite excited for the next few weeks as fairly optimistic I'll lose a few more lbs soon with this way.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/04/2025 16:23

@TalkToTheHand123i find all that great for maintenance. I can maintain this weight no problem, I even notice that I naturally eat to my maintenance calories and then as long as I listen to my appetite, I naturally stop. But to undercut that by enough to lose even a pound a week is really really hard, and less than a pound a week just feels depressingly slow.

OP posts:
TalkToTheHand123 · 11/04/2025 17:07

Awww, how many calories for you to maintain?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/04/2025 18:52

@TalkToTheHand123according to Garmin my average daily calorie expenditure over the last year is 2100- but I am very mindful of that being overestimated so I’d reckon about 1900 to maintain/aim for 1400 to lose. That’s including any exercise etc that I do. It’s bloody hard to manage on 1400 cals while also running 3 x a week, I walk 150km a month with the dog, plus gym classes. And if I’m lucky, and completely on plan, I might lose 1lb a week on that. 🤷‍♀️ it’s really shit. I genuinely don’t know how people can eat takeaways and cake and drink frappes and wine and still lose weight and i don’t know many people who exercise as regularly and consistently as I do. I do find it very disheartening

Good morning ladies, happy Saturday!

All set to be a glorious sunny warm day today and dh and I are going to get to work in our big untidy garden, long overdue. I’m not a natural gardener, it’s not my preferred way to spend a day, but if we don’t do it soon Prince Charming will need to hack through the brambles to rescue us.

not sure about lunch and other meals today. Tonight I am doing lamb mince with a donor kebab seasoning mix in flatbreads, with salad and mayo and wedges. I’m going to fast as long as i can to reset my appetite a bit after the last few days. Must drink more water and increase my protein and stop stuffing refined white carbs into my gob. I usually go to the gym at 1 on Saturday, if my friend is going I will go but if she’s not I will swerve it today as I do have a lot to be getting along with.

Have a lovely Saturday all, whatever you are doing - enjoy the sun! ☀️

Some people make their takeaways last a few days or just don't eat at other times usually I believe.

I'm not a big breakfast eater, but lots of advice state to have a good breakfast for weightloss.

I plan to calorie count from today. I've never done it before and have said this a few times before! More out of curiosity at the moment as I feel I'm on track anyways, but if it speeds things up, even better.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/04/2025 21:39

How’s everyone’s weekend? Mines been good, got loads of jobs done 👍 food has been ok, come in around 1500 cals both days which is top of my budget but not excessive. My week ahead looks ok, I only have a 3 day week this week! Tomorrow I’m off, few more jobs to do and will try to get out for a run. Shopping being delivered tomorrow and meals are planned.

in just under 2 weeks I am going to spa weekend and I really don’t feel swimsuit ready so I need a strict couple of weeks - hopefully Easter weekend won’t cause too much damage!

Hello. I didn't even start to calorie count but should be ok. Doing a few extra tummy muscle exercises.

poorpaws · 15/04/2025 08:36

@ToutesetBonne the chocolate got me too, in a big way.

@thenewaveragebear1983 yay to all the alcohol free days, excellent!

i’ve said this many times before, but life did actually get in the way for this whole month. I’ve been eating out constantly for one celebration after another. Several birthdays where we don’t buy presents but take whoever for a meal, a couple of family meet ups at our café, a couple of meals across at the holiday camp and I’ve hardly eaten at home apart from chocolate, obviously.

i’ve gained something this week, I don’t know what but I know I’ve gained and I’m getting really sick of myself. I’ve got one meal out this week at our café and then a lot of Easter eggs on their way. I’m also going back to the holiday camp as I call it (I can never remember what they call it these days but it’s some posh name) the week after this one. I cannot get over the prices there but we’ve got some free vouchers which is the reason the whole family are going again.

I so desperately want to get back in the zone but it’s not happening at all this year. I sit in the evening and wonder what I can eat next when I’ve had a large dinner and it’s just unnecessary.

happy Tuesday.

poorpaws · 15/04/2025 08:38

I’ve just checked and apparently the are Holiday Parks so I wasn’t far off 😁

TalkToTheHand123 · 15/04/2025 12:20

As long as you drink a glass of water before and after a moment / moments of weakness, this will really help.

ToutesetBonne · 15/04/2025 12:58

Oh @poorpaws - it's tough going at times isn't it?

I'm on day 2 with no chocolate, which is also day 2 of doing mindful (don't like the term 'clean' around food - no food is 'dirty'!) eating. Just aware that some ordinary physical movements that used to be easy now need thinking about, and that I feel very achy first thing in the morning, so trying to really think about what I put in my body.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/04/2025 19:20

I’ve had a tricky few days as well, I’m really tired- I think just too many consecutive weekends doing too many jobs. My house is looking great but I feel very tired. My hormones are struggling and I have a recurring cyst in my breast which has had a massive flare up this weekend because my period has been due/arrived. I’ve taken it easy and not exercised and of course that means I ate a loads of crappy carby rubbish. Weigh in yesterday was a maintain so that good, considering. Dh is cooking gnocchi bake which will be lovely but very cheesy and bacon-y. Anyway, after work I took Maggie out for a lovely evening walk and decided that today is the last day of gluttony. I need to rein it in or else it will be next Tuesday before I really get back in the zone. I’m not fussed about Easter ‘treats’, I have an egg for Sunday but other than that we aren’t really having anything different to normal.

i’m all sorted for tomorrow onwards and I’m going to properly knuckle down. I’ve got away with being basically off plan for 2 weeks but my luck won’t continue so it’s time to get back on track.

I've returned to making soup again, but with drinking extra water than previously also, there's been a lot of extra trips to the toilet. Hopefully it will be worth it though and the cravings will ease a little more so I don't need to drink as much!

I bought and ate a large cooked chicken from the supermarket today, but forgot it doesn't agree with my digestion for some reason. Tummy has been a lot more settled since drinking more water, so if I avoid this error in future, tummy will be very appreciating and a lot more settled.

Went to the gym this evening. I'm shattered so should sleep well tonight.

TalkToTheHand123 · 16/04/2025 09:30

Hi all. How is everyone getting on? Struggling? Succeeding? Managed to get into any good habits? Close to goal weight or miles off?

I've ben yo-yoing between 14 and 15.5 stone for a few years. Last couple of months my eating habits, touch wood, are a bit more under control with drinking more water, little better with sleep routine and an alcohol detox.

Just weighed again and same as a few days ago at 14.0 stone. I thought it would be lower, nevermind.

Have some noodles and past in the cupboards so will have this with vegetables today. Some pancakes also. Plenty water and soup too.

poorpaws · 16/04/2025 10:05

@TalkToTheHand123 sadly I’m not doing well but you seem to be well into the zone and making great progress so very well done and I need some of your fairy dust.

my eating is all over the place and out of control. I don’t see DP on a Wednesday so I’ve contacted my granddaughter and her mum is bringing her over soon. She is a massive dog lover so we’ll be going on a long walk late morning and see if I can escape cupboard searching.

have a great Wednesday.

ToutesetBonne · 16/04/2025 13:19

I’m feeling reasonably top of things currently; just hope no-one gives me an Easter Egg (family know better!)…..

TalkToTheHand123 · 17/04/2025 09:17

I seem to become overconfident when I lose a few lbs.

I'm going to aim for more time in bed resting, stretching muscles and sleeping as this seems to be the best and quickest way for me to lose weight.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/04/2025 21:30

I absolutely went totally off the rails today, I ate so much rubbish! This week has just been another disaster from start to finish!! Hopefully the long weekend will be an opportunity to catch up on some rest and have a few lazy days, I feel so tired and frazzled. My new job has been really challenging and I have found it really difficult this week. I really don’t want to just eat and eat all weekend, it doesn’t make me feel good.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 18/04/2025 07:59

I had an all time low binge last night! It was a disgraceful party of one taking gluttony to the extreme.

today is typical of me! It’s Good Friday (I love Easter, it’s my favourite celebration), I know my DP has bought me at least six Easter eggs and I’ve decided to knuckle down with this weight problem today.

ive filled the fridge with jugs of water with slices of lime (which I had in the freezer) and I’m going to start a detox TODAY!

it’s raining, my dogs hate rain but I think I’ll take them to the beach. My new dog hasn’t been to the beach yet and I think she’ll love it, although she’ll have to be muzzled. I’m hoping to start a short exercise programme at home (I really hate exercising at home so it’s difficult to be motivated). I need to stop this crazy eating and just get some weight off as it’s making me thoroughly miserable.

Happy Good Friday everyone, I hope you all have a fabulous Easter.
