Bit of a tricky day today, but it is a Tuesday and they are always a bit shit for me. Ended up having some chocolate, so ended up over my calories. I'm just going to write it off and try again tomorrow, it's always a difficult day for me.

Tomorrow, I will run in the morning. Walk the dog. I'm working, then have parents evening. Busy as always! My food is all planned so good to go 👍

poorpaws · 11/03/2025 21:18

@thenewaveragebear1983 don't you find though that when you are extra busy you don't eat as much.

Since I lost Molly at the beginning of January I've hardly done anything but cry, eat and sleep and because this is not my usual pattern and I have nothing else to think about I'm just eating more, a lot more.

If I could busy myself as you do, I'm sure I wouldn't be eating all day.

Anyway, I've decided to look for another dog, I've started the search and hopefully very soon I will stop this gluttony. I feel so bloated and uncomfortable.

You really are doing incredibly well with the smallest blips, you should be proud.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/03/2025 21:28

@poorpaws no, I have a voracious appetite and I never feel not hungry! I am glad you are thinking of having another dog. Do you have a particular breed in mind? I imagine you will be an ideal candidate to rehome a lovely doggy, we tried to adopt when we got Maggie but with young kids and cats we were a firm No. I would never have another puppy but I have said that when Maggie is a bit older, I would look for a companion for her to grow old with. Good luck with your search 🐾

@thenewaveragebear1983 it has to be a greyhound or lurcher for me because they are treated so cruelly and they need homes so badly.

I've contacted four Greyhound Trusts around my area and they're all looking for the right greyhound for me. Because we often walk with professional dog walkers, as we did today actually, we have to have a small dog friendly greyhound and as we walk around wildlife lakes, we really need a low prey drive dog so it's a pretty tall order but we'll see. I already have one greyhound but she has no prey drive whatsoever and ducks actually walk underneath her, people can't believe it.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/03/2025 21:49

Aw I hope you can find one. There's a lovely greyhound at our park called Skinny Minnie 🤣

OP posts:
poorpaws · 11/03/2025 21:53

Well, that certainly doesn't describe me 😂. Thank you. I'm sure I'll get one and I could do with waiting a little time whilst they find one for me because I'm still really upset obviously.

My DP is looking for a cat too, so we're on a double search. He can't bear being in his flat without an animal and although it's extremely early, I think he's ready for another one and that will have a wonderful home.

poorpaws · 11/03/2025 21:54

I know a greyhound called Twiggy, which I think is nice. I call my fatty which people find very funny.

Diversion · 11/03/2025 22:05

I have lost 10lbs its taken me about 7 weeks and it is really hard. I love carbs, bread, pasta, potatoes. I havent touched a slice of bread in 7 weeks because it has to be covered in a very thick layer of proper butter, I also have a crisp habit. I have always cooked from scratch but my portion sizes were way too big. My DH is one of those people who can eat everything, a huge meal with a pudding/biscuits and then an hour later be eating chocolate and sweets and still weighs less than me. I have an arthritic knee and one leg shorter than the other due to a teenage injury and have a terrible limp so running and impact exercise is a no go. I would like to do weights but all of the gyms around here are the crossfit types so just not suitable. I am eating lots of chicken and smoked fish and lots of salad and vegetables. No bread, very little potato, no pasta and very little rice. Low fat everything, 1 bag of quavers a week,I have always struggled to lose weight. I am 57 and post meno and need some encouragement to keep going.

TalkToTheHand123 · 12/03/2025 07:56

Hi all. Sorry to hear the isssues and struggles.

I went out for a meal yesterday and had pizza and chips. Stuffed my face even though the food didn't taste amazing. My tastebuds appear to have changed a lot recently.

I bought a couple of ready meals during a big shop a couple of days ago as part of a limited treat. Once I have ate them I don't feel satisfied as I just want more. I bought a couple of vegetable stir frys which are quite nice and will stock up on these more in future.

I bought a few packets of spinach which I make as soup but let cool and drink cold. Not very nice but seems to help with dieting. Next time I'll just add a little to other ingredients though.

I have a few packets of soup ingredients so having this as my main source of food over the next few days with salad food I have remaining in the cupboard. Some frozen fish in chest freezer.

I should be able to continue with the gym as I go on an evening before returning home when out and about and not too far off my usual route. It's something to do on an evening instead of going to the pub or watch lots of tv (something I need to cut down a lot of).

Evening all, glad they deleted the weird spammy post !

How's everyone doing? I had an ok day today, I'm really tired today, my period arrived 5 days early and so I had quite a weird week of intense carb craving and night sweats. Feel a bit better today and have ended the day on 1400 cals and 80g carbs so not terrible. I had a pt session this morning and have walked the doggo

I break up tomorrow for over a week, I cannot wait! I have so many jobs I want to get done and I'm really looking forward to getting some things finished, some decorating and a big sort out as well. Some nice daytime runs and dog walks.

I'm not sure how this week will end weight loss wise, I'm still in that annoying place where a couple of days off piles all the water weight back on and I end up where I started. 🤷‍♀️

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/03/2025 07:10

This has just been one of “those” weeks, starting badly, slightly improving, then the end of the week attempting to claw back and, rather unsuccessfully. Culminating yesterday in a family beige buffet party 🤦‍♀️ I am going to weigh in this morning but I know it won’t be good news.

anyway, damage is done now. I don’t know what the solution is to the awful hormonal food frenzy, I get it every month to some extent but this month was really bad. I don’t know if it’s a nutrition need, tiredness, whatever but it feels really uncontrollable

looking into this week ahead: I’ve done my plan, need to shop. I may go in person this week which I never normally do but as I am on leave next week I will, I prefer real life shopping and may go to Lidl rather than my usual supermarket. I’m going to retry my fast800 this week, I love the food and it works well for me.

i have some nice things on my menu this week:
shakshuka, grilled halloumi salad, and I am going to prep a bean salad with roasted chickpeas and lemon and herb dressing. As I am not working this week I am focussing myself on 2 decent meals a day and try not to snack. I have plenty to keep me busy, both with jobs at home and various coffee/meet friends dates.

Hope everyone is doing well

LimeLime · 17/03/2025 14:48

I would not have said that I've had a fantastic week diet-wise but the scales have been particularly kind to me, so I'll happily take the 3kg loss but be sure that it won't stick and is probably water weight.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/03/2025 15:12

I gained 1.5lbs this week, current weight 160lbs. To be honest, I’m disappointed but not surprised and it could have been worse. I’ve started the week strong on fast800, had a really nice halloumi salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Takes ages to eat and as I’ve been busy that’s all I have had so far today. I went to the gym and then walked 3 miles with the dog. I’ve got loads of jobs done today, finished painting my kitchen ceiling and put all the pictures and shelves back, and started on the hallway ceiling.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 17/03/2025 15:28

@LimeLime that’s fantastic! Yes take it, enjoy the glory.

Ive had a week from hell foodwise. Five meals out (yes five), it’s just the way it’s all fallen, it’s been years since I’ve eaten out five times in one week. I didn’t weigh myself but I know the news is bad.

In doggle news, that is also hell. I’ve been contacted by the rescue about a dog who may be suitable but there’s a different one I really really want. The one I want is reserved but the rescue aren’t too happy about the home so doggle could have a home not worthy of her and have missed a really good home.

Ive begged and pleaded to have her and they don’t want to let the other people down so I doubt I’ll get her but Im living on a knife edge in case. This is not helping my food consumption one bit.

More news when I know more. I hope you are all well and enjoy the warmer weather coming at the end of this week.

poorpaws · 17/03/2025 15:31

@thenewaveragebear1983 blimey you can’t have stopped, you put me to shame. Most of my home needs a good lick of paint but it’s such a big job I never get started. You’re bound to lose this week with all your exercise. I hope you enjoy your week off and do spend some time on yourself.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/03/2025 15:39

Yes @LimeLime, that’s amazing 🤩 well done

@poorpaws I’m just a woman on a mission, we have had a lot of work done over the last few months and everything has left lingering ‘finishing off’ jobs to do, and I am fed up of constantly looking at them. I have decided I am going to throw time and/or money at the problems and get things finished. Dh is the type to stand and very slowly paint with a small brush and ponder and hmm a lot, whereas I am very much crack on and get through it. I hate unfinished diy and it makes me very unsettled, so I hope once I have ticked a few jobs off then the whole house will feel more finished and relaxing to be in.

@thenewaveragebear1983 sounds like a plan but I am so jealous of your enthusiasm.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/03/2025 07:07

Good morning all! Sun is shining here today, you know that makes me SO HAPPY ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

had a good 2 days and did a little weigh in this morning and I’m down 2.2lbs, back down to 11 st 3.8 lbs. I had a little ping on my nutracheck yesterday because it must have been exactly 1 year since I rejoined, my starting weight was 12.1- so even though I feel like I never lose anything, I’ve actually lost 9lbs in the last year (which still isn’t going to win any awards) but at least it’s a good reminder that all these crappy little half pounds do add up somewhere. Keep going!

today- walk dog, I have a bit more decorating to do today (more ceilings 🤦‍♀️ ) - although I have now finished loo, kitchen, and half finished hall and dining room. We have a deadline now as carpets are being fitted on 1st May! My meals will be feta salad at lunch, and lemon and oregano chicken traybake for dinner. 😋

OP posts:
poorpaws · 19/03/2025 07:50

@thenewaveragebear1983 yes those half pounds do add up and you’re doing brilliantly.

Ive also had a good two days to start the week and I'm hoping to keep going. I’ve been really busy and that seems to help, when I’m lazy I seem to snack a lot more.

In other news I’m getting a new dog tomorrow. She’s a rescue greyhound, 3 years old, brindle. It’s a long story, she was going to a different home but the rescue weren’t happy about it and since I’ve already had two dogs from them they know she will have a good home here. She’s called Carrie which I quite like but we’ve already got a Cassie so it might get confusing. It’s about an hour and a half to fetch her so I doubt I’ll have much time to eat tomorrow. It’s a lovely time of year to get a dog, we’ll have spring and the whole summer for our walks, it’s exciting.

Have a great day everyone. I’m food shopping later so I’ll be very careful what I buy.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/03/2025 21:32

@poorpawswonderful news! I’m sure she will be a lovely new addition. I don’t know about dogs and their names, could you just gradually change her name? They are very capable of learning loads of words, I’m sure if I changed maggies name to cheese or gravy bone she would still respond to that!

OP posts:
poorpaws · 19/03/2025 21:42

@thenewaveragebear1983 i’ve changed loads of my dogs name, that isn’t a problem. My Matilda (Tilly) was saffron when she came here but it just didn’t suit her. The problem is I really like Carrie and from her photograph it does suit her. We’ll keep it for the time being and see how Cassie gets on and if they get confused, but she might become Lottie in the future.😁

I feel really nervous about it tonight. Greyhounds are wonderful animals but very difficult due to their prey drive and stubbornness. I just hope she’s a good one and not a lot of trouble.🤞

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/03/2025 20:56

Good evening all

@poorpawsi hope your new dog is ok, I imagine it’s very scary for her at first. Lots of treats and love for her I think! Also- we really need photos!

I ended up a bit over my target today although still under my allowance, and I did a short run so should be ok. I just didn’t plan well and ended up having more at each meal plus I bought some very nice Greek yoghurt so had an extra scoop of that for supper!

had a run in with my vile neighbours today, they are so volatile and nasty. Last time they trapped me and a gardener for 45 minutes when they lectured us, today they came to my door and started going on and on, in the end I refused to speak to them and closed the door. I am the least confrontational person ever and I find them so aggressive and volatile, it’s left me all shaken up. Positive nSV though, I did not come in and eat my feelings ! Instead I went for a run in the sunshine ☀️

@thenewaveragebear1983 sorry to hear about your nightmare neighbours. Many years ago we lived next to an awful woman, didn't work but left her dogs at home all day barking and barking, threw parties every Saturday night, wouldn't even acknowledge us - never even said hello in the two years we lived there. Even more galling, we'd bought our house and she was a council tenant, we felt we couldn't complain as we'd have to declare it when we sold the house! I was incredibly glad when we left, I'm getting stressed just thinking about it and that was twenty years ago Confused anyhow, well done with your overall loss for the year and cracking on with the DIY... DP is also a faffer so I feel your pain!

@poorpaws how lovely to hear about your new pet!! My friend has a greyhound, I thought they would need lots of walking but she's the laziest dog ever Grin apparently that's quite common though, people very much overestimate how happy they are to just curl up and sleep.

I've been in pain for a few weeks now, my right foot is very swollen - I do suffer with tendinitis but it hasn't flared up this badly for ages, even using ice and painkillers isn't touching it. I've got a GP appointment tomorrow and am hoping they can help in some way! @Diversion I do also wonder if it's a touch of arthritis as it's so painful...

poorpaws · 21/03/2025 15:25

This is the best I can do as she refuses to let me take a photograph and puts her ears down.
