Currently 12 stone 7 pounds and 5ft. Would love to lose 7 pounds for Christmas. Would anyone like to join me? I usually check my weight at home on my scales on a Saturday morning. I am calorie counting using Nutracheck and try to exercise frequently.

Tonight I had greek yoghurt with stewed rhubarb and a slice of toast with honey.

I've not done so great last few days! Find it more challenging when I'm wfh- too many temptations. Going into the office tomorrow so hope to be back on track

LadyofRutshire · 27/11/2024 18:40

Don't think the cold or Christmas run up is helping either. Wfh is so easy to pick away at food.

Today's food:

Breakfast - 2 slices of toast with honey.
Dinner - baby potatoes, corn on the cob and cheese and red onion quiche.
Evening snack - a mini cheese board with red apple, cucumber sticks, grapes, green pepper, chutney, brie and red Lester.
Snacks - a packet of cheese curls and 2 jaffa cakes, nuts.
Drinks - tea, coffee, hot chocolate, tonic water with lime cordial and ice.
Exercise - a half hour walk

I really wish it came off as quickly and as easily as it went on. I feel so embarrassed and ashamed that I let myself get like this. Just feeling really pissed off and sad today 😞

Flowers to you! Please don't feel disheartened or ashamed! You will get there, but it will feel tough sometimes! I'm feeling in a more positive mindset today. Onwards and upwards!

Thank you @pippitypoppitypoo I am trying to work through the emotions and still keep moving forward. It's much easier with positivity hold onto that feeling ✨️ 😊

hello 👋 Very late joiner here!

I’m currently 10st 7 but was almost a stone heavier back in spring. I’d be thrilled to lose 3-5 pounds by Christmas!

Today I had coffee with milk no sugar , snacked on quite a lot of roasted sesame seeds, then for my first meal I had a big plate of beef strips cooked in oyster and soy sauce with ’biang biang’ noodles around 3pm.

It was quite a filling meal. Planned to have porridge for dinner but I just had a cup of tea, with a few dark chocolate chips from
my baking cupboard! Also had a pear and drank lots of sparkling water.

I usually eat more than that so I’m quite pleased!

And I did 8500 steps just walking and dancing around my apartment!

I won’t eat again until 12noon tomorrow but may have coffee and tea before that.

LadyofRutshire · 28/11/2024 21:59

Hello @Loseitor 👋 welcome. Well done on losing a stone this year that's fantastic. Do you have any tips you would like to share with us all?

3/5 pounds off before Christmas is achievable slow and steady wins the race and gets you into new automatic habits for the future.

Do you use any videos for dancing? That sounds fun!

Thank you!

I have focused mainly on diet to lose weight , due to a knee injury I’m still dealing with that first occurred in spring. I used to run sometimes but now all I can manage is walking and gentle dancing /aerobics! Today I used a Grow with Jo dance video. Other times I just put on music and dance around my house as I WFH. I aim for around 10K steps a day and break it up throughout the day so I’ll just get up and walk on the spot for 5 minutes while watching tv or on a Teams call.

I think our bodies are all so different but for me as a short woman what’s worked well recently is 2 or 3 decent sized meals a day and little to no snacking in between . I typically eat between 12noon and 8pm so there’s an element of intermittent fasting, but I’m not super strict about it.

What trips me up is binge eating on things like cake and pastries. I definitely need to reduce my sugar intake and eat more veg. I know the cravings are often caused by stress and poor sleep. Trying to address those underlying factors too!

Loseitor · 28/11/2024 22:28

Oh and just to add - my starting weight 2 years ago was similar to yours : 12 stone 11 at 5ft 2. Any my waist was 40 inches (now 31 inches)

That was due to having takeaways several times a week, constantly baking and eating entire cakes and not doing any exercise whatsoever during lockdown! I was 9st stone 8 with a small waist for most of my adult life so it was a bit of a shock, but gave me the push I needed to start making changes.

Not sure what your overall goal weight is @LadyofRutshire but keep going - you’ll get there!

LadyofRutshire · 29/11/2024 10:09

Thanks. I hope your knee injury gets better soon. I've taken inspiration from your post and will try to do the walking on the spot etc to increase my activity levels which are really low. My goal weight is 10 stone hopefully I can get to that.

You have maybe tried these things but for stress/sleep what works for me is writing everything down in a journal before bed. I don't do it every night but some nights I just write all the rambling down. Doing some breathing exercises Balance app is free for a year and really good. For sleep I put a heavy throw on my duvet, thick bed socks and a hot water bottle. A bath with epsom salts helps me relax also. Hope these are useful to you.

Lunch was a prawn salad
Dinner was toast, beans and egg
Snacks were two jaffa cakes
Drinks tea, coffee and water with lime cordial.
Snack before bed was crudités of grapes, celery, green pepper, cucumber and chutney.

Thanks so much for these tips.

I put my phone and smartwatch in another room last night and I don’t know if that’s connected but I had a 7.5 hour sleep which is great compared to the usual 5-6 hours. Woke up feeling very refreshed.

Funnily enough I actually ordered a lovely throw last night that I saw on sale! I’ve been lazy with my hot water bottle so far this year, but yeah I should start using it again as the cold sometimes wakes me up 🥶And yeah thick socks would help too!

The journal and breath work suggestions are great. I’ve did both before and it did help reduce stress, but I need to be more consistent and keep it up.

I’ll aim to start again on some of these healthy habits this weekend!

Today :

coffee with oat milk
Meal 1 : chocolate oats for rice
Meal 2: air fried chicken breast with plenty of seasoning and veg!
meal 3 :Omlette
snack: banana

After a bit of a challenging last week, I’ve had two bits of good career news in the past few days. I usually go out order things like takeaway or cake from the supermarket to celebrate, but I’m trying to move away from food as rewards (or comfort!) and instead bought some bits for the house to celebrate instead.

Although I do plan on doing some reduced sugar baking next week 👀😆

Weighed myself this morning and was 2 pounds down 🎉after seemingly plateauing this past week or 2. It definitely helps weighing myself first thing after a good night of sleep and when I’ve not had late night snacks the day before !

Hope it’s going well for everyone else with healthy eating and weight loss! Have a great weekend when it comes 😄

pippitypoppitypoo · 29/11/2024 13:38

Nice one on the 2lb loss and the career news @Loseitor ! I find any time of celebration VERY difficult. DS birthday party is this weekend, my DD is sitting an exam plus we have family staying. Food temptation and less time for exercise. I am not going to completely prevent myself from eating 'bad' things (got into a TERRIBLE mindset on this when a did slimming world a few years back) but am going to try and make sure I stay roughly within calorie limits (which I program in my app to be higher at the weekend)

Loseitor · 29/11/2024 15:15

Thank you @pippitypoppitypoo 🎉

Yes they can be so difficult especially when you’re attending or hosting social events and everyone around is eating loads and/ or you’re in charge of the food 😆

I agree - I find calorie counting and reducing my intake of some foods more sustainable than completely excluding certain things.

I did SW a few years ago, it wasn’t really for me and wouldn’t go back, but I know it’s worked well for some people including a close friend.

Hope you enjoy your DS party and having the family over anyway!

pippitypoppitypoo · 30/11/2024 10:28

Thanks @Loseitor ! Weigh in day today- I'm the same as last week! But I'm ok with that- was a slightly dodgy week where I was possibly a little too relaxed. 5lb still to go! 💪🏽

Loseitor · 02/12/2024 08:40

well done @pippitypoppitypoo - Maintenance is a win!

I ate well on Saturday but yesterday my shopping arrived and I inhaled 3 jam donuts and way too many flatbread crackers with tuna and avocado.

Today I’m aiming for 9K steps and to leave at least 4 hours between each meal.

Meal 1: 40g granola with oat milk
Meal 2: 2 slices sourdough bread, 1 scrambled egg and tomato
Meal 3: Turkey mince, veg and rice

snacks: roasted sesame seeds.

Drinks: coffee with oat milk x 1
Vanilla rooibois x 2
Water - as much as I can

I measured my waist and I’m now 29.5 which I’m pleased about - last month I was 31inches.

November SW: 67Kg
CW: 66Kg /10st 5
December GW :64KG
Overall GW: 60kg / 9 stone 6

Goal Waist size: 26 inches

So we’re now in that one month we get a particularly high amount of chocolate, desserts, rich food , calorie laden hot drinks and alcohol thrown at us!

It’s almost expected we’ll gain weight.
I think each day we get through this month making slightly better choices - and it doesn’t have to be all or nothing - is progress and sets up for an an easier January where we are not having to work off the pounds we gained in December.

This is good advice. We already have Quality Street in the houseEnvy. I've stayed the same - bit disappointed tbh. Hope everyone else doing ok

Because I live alone and have binge eating tendencies I can’t have stuff like that in the house unless I’m expecting a visitor that day or I’ll plough through the box single handedly😳

my partner is vegan so he doesn’t often eat stuff like that when he’s over so I can’t even share the calories with him unless it happens to be vegan sweet treats!

I’ve just been maintaining too but quite happy with that as I know eventually I’ll lose my next few pounds.

Hope everyone else is doing well, 3 weeks to Christmas!

LadyofRutshire · 05/12/2024 20:27

Hi everyone Grin
How are you all getting on? I've maintained for the last 2 weeks now. In a much better head space as I know my body is getting treated well with exercise, fruit, veg, made from scratch meals. Oh and plenty of water. I've also really cut down on alcohol. Will just keep plugging along.

pippitypoppitypoo · 05/12/2024 21:01

Hi @LadyofRutshire! That sounds like you're on a really good track- well done! I'm dreading this week's weigh in as I've been mainly working from home- which always messes with my dietary discipline. DH is working away, so I've not wanted to risk the commute too often. I've been doing lots of runs - mainly just in order to get out of the house- so definitely getting a good amount of exercise but unfortunately not treating my body as the temple as it should be when it comes to food! Today I've been better- it helped going to the office - and sticking pretty strictly to what I'd packed to eat. Onwards and upwards....

LadyofRutshire · 05/12/2024 21:11

The runs will be doing you the world of good. Fresh air, exercise, boosting your emotional and mental health plus future proofing your body.

Gained 1lb since last week! Hopefully will recover and regain downwards trajectory over the coming week....good luck to everyone

Loseitor · 07/12/2024 17:21

@pippitypoppitypoo I weigh myself daily to see the overall trend and then kind of take a rough average.

I know it’s really common - especially as a woman - for weight to have minor fluctuations for various reasons other than body fat.

This week I’ve been going between 10st 5 and 10st 6. Unless there’s a significant weight increase I tend to see it as maintenance.

Coffeewithkids · 09/12/2024 08:42

Yey I have lost two pounds! So delighted! Hoping we all have a good week
