Trying to lose 10 pounds in November

Superworm24 · 30/10/2024 10:42

I had a baby almost a year ago and I'm still not in my normal clothes! I think in weight terms I'm only about 10 pounds away but could be a little more. So here I am, please jump in, give me some encouragement etc.

I'll be calorie counting and moving more, nothing exciting. I also need to deep clean my house and get some motivation to start some courses or make some massive changes career wise? I'm a bit lost in life at the moment.

Anyone else?

hello!

im sure you will do it! I found it easier setting out what days im exercising on and using my fitness pal
first time mum here 15 weeks post partum, 3 weeks ago i started my weight loss journey back to my pre baby weight
started at 11st 10
currently 11 st 1
ideal is 10st 5!

I’ve started the couch to 5k and eating 1400 cals a day!

EmeraldRoulette · 30/10/2024 12:01

I'm here. We can wave pom-poms at each other 😂 My situation is I have lost some weight. I was on a chat thread here but funnily enough I don't like to chat too much about it because it's kind of boring. When these threads were busy, I often used to find that they would be list of what people had eaten and I must admit I'm not terribly keen on those.

however I have stalled and while I wouldn't aim for 10lb in a month, I definitely need a jumpstart.

I also am on a bit of a home sort mission. It does all feel like part of the same thing really doesn't it - in terms of sorting your life out.

I'm not very good at being proud of myself if that makes sense. So having made a good start on losing weight, it's as if I can't really absorb how much I've had to change in order to do it. But I have worked hard at it. I don't know why I can't get that to register in my brain! I have ordered a couple of nice new items of clothing which I probably wouldn't have treated myself to if I hadn't lost weight.

I'm a lot about the small wins at the moment, so trying to tidy every day. I'm out tomorrow night so I will have dinner before I go and resist any nibbles on offer.

At 15 weeks PP I think i was still struggling to survive, I'm seriously impressed. How far are you into C25K? Well done on the weightloss so far.

I’ll be here too!!

I’ll be focusing on keeping myself satiated with regular meals rather than eating nothing all day & then binging on a Chinese at 7pm. And going for walks.

EDIT: I’m not post partum, though! No kids. Hope it’s still ok to post.

Thank you! I need all the encouragement I can get!

I get what you mean about the weighloss chat, they can be a little dry. My food diary is far too dull to post online, I eat the exact same breakfast and lunch everyday!

Well done on your weightloss so far. A jump-start and bit a positivity pre Christmas sounds like something we both need. I keep telling myself that it's all the little things and choices that will add up as long as I'm consistent. And I do feel like I can stay motivated for the whole month. No promises for December though!

Of course! The more the merrier. I do love a Chinese takeaway but always over order and then over eat.

I got out for a short walk after I started the thread and it's beautiful at this time of year.

I’m in. My ‘baby’ has started school 🙈.

If I'm not careful I'll still be using the "I've just had a baby" excuse in 5 years time.

OP posts:
EmeraldRoulette · 30/10/2024 16:52

I don't have the baby excuse either 😂

I need to be careful as I honestly don't fancy breakfast a lot of the time but then suddenly find myself ravenous especially on workout days.

Little things do add up for sure. I was pondering and maybe I should aim for 10lb actually. Thinking about it, I have been taking a very relaxed approach but a month isn't too long to say "right, I can be more focused".

thank you for starting a thread 😊

Sahmcharlie · 30/10/2024 17:29

Thankyou! Im finding personally making myself feel ‘better’ is making me more motivated in other areas! (Also one of the lucky ones whos baby sleeps through!)

im on week 3 of couch to 5k! Ive not yet had a cheat meal, after how long is everyone letting themselves have one as id love a cheeky chinese but feel guilty!

turkeymuffin · 30/10/2024 17:45

My baby is 9!!

Years not months.

I just nearly ordered Voy but am scared of side effects.

I SHOULD be able tot do this alone. I only need to lose 1-2 stone really. It should be easy but it's not

LottieMary · 30/10/2024 18:27

I’m joining on this one. Will update a starting weight tomorrow. My baby is turning one in November and it’s back to work for me; sadly breastfeeding him has not been the miracle weight loss it was with my first and I allowed it to creep way up!

Superworm24 · 30/10/2024 20:55

Today went reasonably well. I ate around 1500 calories, got out for a walk, and managed to get on the treadmill for a bit. I've come to bed to read because I'm far too lazy to go back downstairs, so therefore, I won't snack.

OP posts:
ItIsAlwaysSwingsAndRoundabouts · 30/10/2024 22:28

I'm jumping in (I've posted on a few but do like these threads for motivation).
My youngest is 8 😳 and I've been up and down these last 8 years. I took about 18 months after first child (only started exercise when he was 9 months old), to get back into shape, not sure what happened after dc2 🤔
However, I feel more focussed and motivated at the moment, and I will get there (hopefully). I have managed to lose about 1 stone and 7 pounds since June; and just need to get another 10 or so pounds off.
It's half term this week and I've been visiting family, which means the calorie counting has been non existent.
Will weigh myself on Friday morning when back home to see how much damage I've done 🤣

Superworm24 · 31/10/2024 11:08

I've woken up feeling motivated. Today I need to go grocery shopping so I've made a list! I will fit a walk in. And hopefully I won't eat too many of the sweets we've bought for the trick or treaters. I might stick any left overs on the doorstep amd hope some of the older kids take the lot!

@EmeraldRoulette 1 month of being focused sounds like a plan! I have been forcing myself to eat porridge or weetabix every morning so I don't go on mad binges. I could cope with fasting pre-baby but not anymore.

@Sahmcharlie ours still won't sleep for more than a few hours at a time. Are you running alone or with the baby? I've been looking into jogging prams but they are so expensive! But I would love to take him out for park runs. As for cheat meals I think I'm going to try and avoid. Only because I've got myself into this awful habit of rewarding myself for the most minor inconveniences. If the baby has a rough night I'll "treat" myself to about 2000 calories worth of snacks!

@turkeymuffin if it were easy then none of us would be here! What is Voy, if you don't mind me asking?

@LottieMary how are you feeling about returning to work? The breastfeeding has increased my appetite more than I expected. It's so hard to get the balance right, especially when you're keeping a little one fed.

@ItIsAlwaysSwingsAndRoundaboutswell done on the weightloss so far. I know from previous attempts that the last few pounds are always the most difficult.

I know things may change with her sleeping so doing what i can while i can!

no I’ve looked into jogging prams but cant justify it personally! The good thing with couch to 5k is its literally 30 mins from the minute you leave the door, so my mum comes to my house twice a week and watches her for 30 while i run and the other time i do on the weekend while my parter is home!

Thats what i was like before starting this! Prior a baby i used to like a glass of wine of the evening but ive not been drinking since having her, instead of my evening glass i was eating 100g of galaxy chocolate everynight as a ‘treat’ for a hard day! That had to stop 😣

TheaBrandt · 31/10/2024 17:45

Urgh need to lose exact same amount! Had a routine medical yesterday and was 11 stone bmi 25. Last time I checked I was 10st 2 which is what I was sept 2023 when I last focussed on weight. Have let myself slip on snacking and need to get back on the wagon!

EmeraldRoulette · 01/11/2024 14:29

Hi all

was out last night and didn't eat anything silly but a bit hungover this morning. Doesn't take much though.

will weigh in tomorrow and go from there. I have three birthday things this month but they aren't too complicated. I'm trying to move towards a 5:2 type set up so a good time to give it a try in a way.

edit - should eat more protein but I always think that's hard. Am quite sick of eggs so had tuna at lunch. I think it's probably easier if you like a lot of meat but that's not really me.

LottieMary · 01/11/2024 16:22

@Superworm24 Pretty much dreading return to work. I’ve got f all idea how the first week will go but it’s definitely in at the deep end! It’ll be a challenge not to stress eat my way through it 😂

Superworm24 · 01/11/2024 16:56

I think I'm going to go for Sunday weigh ins.

I managed to avoid most of the halloween sweets last night. The weather here was good and we ended up running out of sweets by 6.30!

My husband is working late tonight but I'm going to try and jump on the treadmill for a bit once he's done. Embarrassing we have had the treadmill for about 2 years but I've only used it twice. Our neighbours were moving abroad amd gave it to us, and although I had good intentions it has sat in the corner of the garage since!

I managed to weigh myself this morning, I was away for half term visiting family so was worried I may have slipped, but not too bad 😂
I do need to lose more than 10 pounds at the moment (more like 12).
I've got back into doing the Chloe Ting challenge I had started before my mini holiday.
CW 8stone 12pounds
GW 8 stone

I have a stationary bike, it gets used infrequently, in an ideal world I would just hop on that every morning 😂 it's just the way it goes with these things 🤣

How is everyone doing? Weekend has been okay. Tomorrow have a work lunch but checked menu in advance and don't drink at work things.

Great treadmill routine I used after each kiddo birth (4x) to get back to my weight within a year. High intensity training (HIT) and cold turkey diet.

Set up treadmill with a computer for streaming, or over the air TV. Run at a good clip (5.5-6.0) ONLY during commercials. Then walk at 2.5 during the show. Repeat for an hour long show. Cold turkey diet: remove anything you have a soft spot for, from the house for four months (things like salty snacks, chocolate, ice cream, cookies, biscuits, flour and sugar; and drink water and non-sugar drinks, such as Crystal light only - at least 6 8oz bottles a day; drink zero sodas, diet or otherwise. Shun anything that temps you.

You can do it...don't allow yourself excuses. Good luck! If it were easy we would all be at our best weight!
