A stone to loose

Hi all,

I'd like to loose about a stone ( 6kgs) by the end of February to finally get back to my pre covid weight.

So I've got 4 months so I'd like to aim for an easy 3.5lbs (1.65kg) a month or just under a pound a week.

I know all the basics, drink water, avoid carbs and sugar, try to eat lean protein and veg, try to be more active etc, but a part from that I'm a bit stuck.

I'm not very active at the moment but do try to make 10k steps a day ( even though I probably only hit that goal 4 times a week.) I go to the gym once a week.

I'm chained to a desk job and have quite a stressful period coming up at the office.

My main pitfalls are a cocktail or two a couple of evenings a week and cheese.

If anyone else is in the same boat I'd love to have some company and tips and encouragement.

So I stepped on the scales this morning after yesterday's disappointment and they came up as 58.8! I checked and moved the scales round and they still showed 58.8!

So I guess that's a .9kg loss last week!

Happy!

@thelaststone yay! That's brilliant! Well done!

Viavita · 20/11/2024 09:11

@thelaststone that's great, well done.
I think I'll walk to the scales on Monday 25th.
I've been ok, but it's not the best time of the year. Still, every little helps.

I weighed this morning and I'm back on 12st2lb so a loss from last week of 2lb. Feeling more positive. Have worked out I need to start wedding dress fittings at start of Feb. If I lose 1lb per week by then (excluding Xmas) then that would put me at 9lb loss so that would be 11st7lb. Not great but also.... lighter than I am now. Not sure how to go about the fact that I will be losing weight until May? So am likely to lose significant amount of weight between wedding dress fitting and actual wedding day? Any ideas?

Viavita · 21/11/2024 09:55

@EqualityDuck gosh, sorry I have no idea about wedding dress fittings - I got married 32 years ago. I went to Dorothy Perkins for a dress !
Well done on the 2lb loss, that's great.

thelaststone · 23/11/2024 12:28

Hi all,

@EqualityDuck Well done on the loss! I'm sure that wedding dress fitters are used to last minute weight drops before weddings, honesty is probably your best bet - just let them know that you're dieting and trying to loose weight and see what they say...

@Viavita I'll also weigh again on Monday! Let us know how it goes for you!

@Ramblethroughthebrambles How are you getting along ?

Although I don't think I'll have lost more by Monday I'm feeling pretty positive.

I started this thread on the 21st of October so just over a month ago. My goal was to loose 1.65kg a month and I was 61kg (9st8.5) - I'm now 58.8kg (9st3.4) even though I had big moments of doubt so I'm 2.2kgs (4.8lbs) down and 5kg (11lbs) from my goal of 54/55kg (8st 7) for end of February! Onwards and downwards! I know the closer I get to goal the harder it will be ... but I'm pretty chuffed so far that I set a reasonable goal and have stuck to it!

@MercuryRising How are you getting along?

@thelaststone congratulations! I'm glad it's working and you're doing it in a sustainable, manageable way.

I've lost 10lbs over the past 4 months so I'm losing at about half the rate you are - but still losing so I'm happy with that. It says on my app I should get to my goal by March - realistically allowing for Xmas, let's say April. Still in time for the wedding!

Monday weigh day!

Starting Weight 61kg (134.5lbs or 9st 8.5)
Last week 58.8kg (129.6 lbs or 9st 3.6)
This Monday 58.3kg ( 129 Ibs or 9st 2.5)

So in all I've lost 2.7kg or 5.9lbs in 5 weeks - So I'm a third of the way there!

How is everyone else getting along?

@thelaststone well done ! You're doing really well.
I'm not really on it, but I can support you.
I don't think I've put on, I just haven't lost. I need to get batteries for my scales as walking to Boots isn't really happening ❄

I finally managed to lose 3 stones last year at a similar rate and have, so far, kept it off. What helped me were (i) reducing to two meals a day and not eating until lunchtime (ii) bbc good food website with all recipes calorie counted. I wasn't obsessive about counting calories but it gave me loads of ideas for interesting, tasty things that were easy to make and I couldn't kid myself so easily about calories. Good luck!

These are the same 2 things I used to lose about 4 stone.
I do t deny myself a glass (or 2) of wine but I make sure it’s within my calorie limit (1200 per day)
Protein is vital…Longley farm cottage cheese with chives and added smoked salmon is my new god!
Good luck & keep us updated on your progress!

How's everyone getting on this weekend ? I won't be back home to weigh on Monday so I'll weigh in Thursday morning because I'm traveling and would rather only way on my own scales for consistency...

@thelaststone I've got an awful cold which is derailing me somewhat: not too badly though and luckily I had meal prepped a bit earlier in the week!

Sounds like a good idea for you to use your own scales, I don't trust any others!
