A stone to loose

thelaststone · 21/10/2024 11:16

Hi all,

I'd like to loose about a stone ( 6kgs) by the end of February to finally get back to my pre covid weight.

So I've got 4 months so I'd like to aim for an easy 3.5lbs (1.65kg) a month or just under a pound a week.

I know all the basics, drink water, avoid carbs and sugar, try to eat lean protein and veg, try to be more active etc, but a part from that I'm a bit stuck.

I'm not very active at the moment but do try to make 10k steps a day ( even though I probably only hit that goal 4 times a week.) I go to the gym once a week.

I'm chained to a desk job and have quite a stressful period coming up at the office.

My main pitfalls are a cocktail or two a couple of evenings a week and cheese.

If anyone else is in the same boat I'd love to have some company and tips and encouragement.

I thought I'd be 13st 4 ish on Monday. I was 13st 8 🥴

thelaststone · 31/10/2024 09:05

thans @Ramblethroughthebrambles ! I'm going to try and stick with the OMAD plan for now as it seems to be helping.
@EqualityDuck Thats great! A nice round number.

How's everyone doing? I'm feeling impatient. I just want this weight to be gone now 😪

Viavita · 01/11/2024 12:45

@EqualityDuck I think that's why people sometimes fail at losing weight yer know, because we're impatient. I know I have been in the past. But, if we give up, we're just back to square 1.
My sister and I used to go to slimming world. We do like The Plan, but we also went for the entertainment value......' It didn't come on overnight, ladies.....' 🤣.
The time to your wedding is going to pass anyway, so you might as well hang on in there! It will be worth it ❤️

I'm doing OK. My tummy isn't much flatter, but I have been 'on it'. I'm hoping for a 1 or 2lb loss on Monday.

thelaststone · 01/11/2024 12:53

@EqualityDuck It's a long road, a marathon not a sprint - but it's goiing to be so worth it. Thats what you've got to keep in mind. I'm finding this week tough and cold where I am.

That is a great way to look at it - thank you.

@thelaststone it is cold isn't it! I've got house guests staying this weekend - first time having non-family guests to stay in our new-ish house... problem is the house is a doer-upper and I've been really self conscious about having people over until it's "perfect" (which it isn't and we have been here 3 years!) Fiancé got sick of this and all his oldest friends live out of London so to see them, they really have to stay over... so I took the plunge and said they could stay. Nervous now!

thelaststone · 04/11/2024 06:54

So it's Monday morning again

Starting Weight 61kg (134.5lbs or 9st8.5)
Current Weight 59.9kg (132 lbs or 9st6)

So I haven't lost anything this week. The scales haven't moved. I guess I'll take it as I had a big unexpected loss last week.

Onwards and downwards.

How were the houseguests? I guess they thought your house was lovely and that you're a good host. We are ourselves worst critics!

Have a good week all.

@thelaststone I've lost a pound. So, I'm on target. I have had a good week but the weekend gets in the way.
I should weigh myself on a Friday really 🤔
Keep going, you'll get there.
@EqualityDuck @MercuryRising @Ramblethroughthebrambles how are we doing?

EqualityDuck · 04/11/2024 16:24

@Viavita I've made Friday my weigh day! Well done for losing a pound 🥳🥳🥳

@thelaststone well done for maintaining this week especially with all your socialising! Great news. The house guests loved the house and we all had a great time. Plus, I now have a beautifully clean house (for the next few days at least...)

I went back to work today (teacher) and so far have eaten really well. I am however feeling peckish now and not really sure what to snack on mid-afternoon - fruit is my morning snack but it doesn't really hit the spot when I get to this stage! Any ideas from anyone?

Viavita · 04/11/2024 16:55

@EqualityDuck do you like rice cakes ? I like the salt n vinegar ones, tescos own.
I'm similar. Had brunch at noon, got a lovely tea awaiting me at home. Sometimes I just have a coffee or a latte.
Crumpets, potato cakes, scotch pancakes? Only a couple of hundred calories, so not too bad.

EqualityDuck · 04/11/2024 18:42

@Viavita ooh yes crumpets. That would do the trick on a chilly November afternoon! Great idea 😊

Had a dream last night that I tried on my wedding dress... in this dream it was in fact a rumba-style slinky dress à la Katya from Strictly. It actually looked great in my dream... not sure it would look so good on me right now, but if when I reach my target weight... maybe...!

Viavita · 04/11/2024 18:58

@EqualityDuck you are going to look amazing ❤️

thelaststone · 05/11/2024 08:13

How is eveyone? I think I have the start of tonsilitis ( which i get every bloody year!) and I leave early tomorrow for a conference. I've been really really hungry since yesterday and have the impression I spent the whole day eating. So slightly miserable on my side but mainly due to the very achy throat.

OP posts:
Viavita · 05/11/2024 08:47

@thelaststone how awful. When I'm ill, or tired, everything pretty much goes out the window. ❤️
Have you got medicine? I'd have lots of drugs, lots of water and a few early nights.
How long is the conference?

EqualityDuck · 06/11/2024 18:11

How are you feeling @thelaststone?

How's everyone doing?

I'm extremely annoyed because I weighed today and have gained 1/2 a pound since this time last week, despite my average daily calories eaten being 1600 and my average exercise calories burned -200.

How?! Why!? How does my body work!? I don't understand 😔

thelaststone · 09/11/2024 11:47

Hi all! I'm still abroad and flying back tomorrow. The tonsillitis has been horrible. Had a high fever for a couple of days and now still have 3 days of antibiotics. I'm exhausted and have been eating and drinking sugar and carbs so don't hold much hope for my Monday weight. But we'll see!

OP posts:
Viavita · 11/11/2024 10:49

@EqualityDuck keep going. Sometimes we can't explain it - I've had weeks where I've been an angel and stayed the same. And times when I've been on holiday and lost 2lb. My sister went to Turkey for a week, all inclusive and lost 3lb.

I've not walked to weigh myself. I've had an ok weekend but can feel I've not lost.
I'm busy with work this week so I'm hoping for a better week, mindset wise.

@thelaststone how are you doing ? 🤒

thelaststone · 11/11/2024 12:28

Hi all, I'm back home and today is a bank holiday. I'm exhausted and just staying in which is rare for me. Weighed this morning and slightly disappointed

Starting Weight 61kg (134.5lbs or 9st8.5)
Current Weight 59.7kg (131.3 lbs or 9st5.5)

So I've lost 200g this week. 0.4 of a lb. Was hoping for more but .. it is what it is.

I4m honestly going to have a nap now and hope that a bit more sleep kicks my tonsilitis to the curb before I get back to work tomorrow.

OP posts:
EqualityDuck · 15/11/2024 17:37

How are we all doing? I didn't weigh today... but weighed on Weds and had gained 2lb. This is due to a load of binge eating when my fiance was away over the past few weeks. Urgh. I just can't seem to get into the right mindset.

thelaststone · 15/11/2024 18:29

@EqualityDuck I’m struggling too to be honest! It’s freezing where I am ( not literally but just cold and dark) and I’m craving carbs!

OP posts:
Viavita · 16/11/2024 07:50

@EqualityDuck it's so hard when you're not in the right mindset, because really that's more than half the struggle. Just keep trying. It's a difficult time of the year, too.
@thelaststone the weather definitely doesn't help. Stews, soups, all good but husband keeps bringing mince pies home.
I've stayed the same. 13st 7, but I've definitely lost inches. I've been running around all week, so legs sore today.
I'm going to keep trying.

EqualityDuck · 16/11/2024 19:25

@thelaststone indeed, the winter doesn't help matters! I'm trying to get into the next stone bracket down by December (5lb to get there). Fingers crossed.

@Viavita it's always good to go off how you feel in clothes and thinking about inches. Maybe I should give that a go when I start getting frustrated with the scales - listen to my body more.

Viavita · 16/11/2024 20:18

@EqualityDuck yes, and also, how you feel. I feel so much better when I'm eating properly, drinking more water, etc. I know I've probably stated the obvious there, but it's better feeling in control - organised etc.

thelaststone · 18/11/2024 14:25

Pff I haven't lost anything this week! This is so hard for me. I don't get why I'm not loosing. I'm really watching what I eat. I think I need less calories.

OP posts:
EqualityDuck · 18/11/2024 16:01

@thelaststone oh, it's so frustrating, I feel your pain. I've just cut my calories as well for similar reasons. Also because I thought maybe I wasn't tracking accurately so by cutting them, I'm giving myself some wiggle room in case I'm mis-calculating slightly.

I was also including my calories burned in my calculations but I've stopped doing that now. I just don't trust my Fitbit!
