Creating this post to hold myself accountable.
my friend mentioned she had success posting in forums and made it a habit of updating like a weight loss blog. This was the first place that popped up on google. Not expecting any replies but be nice to hear others stories.

im a 30 something male that historically had an athletic form. Unfortunately since 2020 lockdowns I’ve been in a rut and gained a substantial amount of weight.

unhealthy relationship with beer and a lack of willpower in food choices has seen the scales steadily increase about 80/90lbs.

I’ve been trying hard in the last month and seen a little success down around 5lbs. Looking to continue the hard work and post updates here.

below is an image of where I was c~2019 and where I am now. Somewhere in between would
be just fine!

Hey think you saw my initial plan on the other thread. Calorie deficit is order of the day. Whether I achieve that is a different story. Congrats on your loss so far good work.

I’ve never really been in a position where I’m actively dieting. I’ve been lean most of my adult life and it’s only the last couple of years where the weight has piled on (too much beer and greediness!) and this is the first time I’m addressing it. Any tips for this fat lad x

Pancakes, Greek yoghurt and berries for breakfast.

better than a sausage and bacon bap I’ve normally devoured.

now to get through to lunch. Chicken salad

Accbabymom1994 · 01/10/2024 09:05

Im having 2 boiled eggs and tea

Megirein9754 · 03/10/2024 09:56

Unfortunately got roped in to a few drinks last night which ended with a McDonald’s and an upper crust on the way home. A little bump in the road. As long as I get on the straight and narrow today I’m ok with that.

Be careful because that's how u gna go bck to square one, u need to lose at least some weight before u start slipping up

Megirein9754 · 11/10/2024 15:19

Really struggling at the moment for motivation. I just can’t get this right. Feel a million miles off from where I want to be and looking at old pictures just makes me sad. Why didn’t I stop myself sooner.

eating my feelings tonight. And fresh start in the morning.

Accbabymom1994 · 12/10/2024 11:11

Hi , did u manage to get bcak on track?

InfoSecInTheCity · 12/10/2024 11:27

The biggest thing I need to remind myself is that it's a long term thing. I gained weight over years, I won't lose weight overnight.

Changes have to be sustainable, so can't be able restricting calories to an abnormally low amount that is hard to stick with.

Have you done a TDEE calculator? That works out how many calories you use based on your height, weight, age, sex and activity level to maintain your weight. The idea being that anything below your TdEE will be a deficit and you'll lose weight.

My TDEE as a 5ft 8 woman currently is 1928, so as long as I eat less than that I'll lose weight, the lower I go, the quicker I'll lose but also the more likely I am to get fed up and go to McDonalds. I try to stick to about 1400- 1600 calories and doing that lose 1-2 lb a week.

Megirein9754 · 01/11/2024 12:44

@Accbabymom1994 I’ve had a couple of good weeks. Scales moving in the right direction. And have steered clear of the booze. At 34 years old probably the longest I’ve not had a beer in a long time. Long way to go but slow and steady

Accbabymom1994 · 01/11/2024 13:32

I had a bad week due to periods and a driving test, but will be getting back on track soon. I'm 29 pounds down

BeCheeryRaven · 05/11/2024 07:36

After the lockdowns, I found myself snacking way more than I ever used to, and like you, the scale crept up—about 60 pounds for me! It's been tough, but I’ve started making some changes. I found that tracking my meals really helps, and I’ve been experimenting with healthier recipes.

Update. Still fat.

relapsed last night. Large Alcohol consumption and takeaways.

managed to keep it together today and refrained from my normal hangover binge. which I think is a positive.

Trying to get my 10k steps in where I can and achieved 5/7 this last week.
