How quickly could I lose 10kg? And how??

Thinking of starting October 1st. I'd love to have lost 10kg by the time we go away for our Xmas holiday mid December which gives me 10 weeks.

Is that possible/ healthy?

Tell me your tips.

I've lost 9lbs in a month, so 18lbs which is nearly your target is very doable.

I cut out eating between meals and am following a mostly Asian diet.

UserNameOfShame · 28/09/2024 14:47

I lose approx 1kg per week on mounjaro

why on earth wouldn’t you start eating better and moving more… today?

User364837 · 28/09/2024 14:50

What’s your starting weight? Heavier people seem to lose faster initially on low calorie diets, low carbing or injections.

if you haven’t tried low carb before I’d give that a whirl. The boot camps on here started by BIWI are great. the initial losses can be significant.

If your BMI is over 30 and if you don’t mind the cost and unpredictability of side effects and how you’ll respond you could consider Mounjaro but not everyone loses quickly. I’ve lost 8kg in 12 weeks.

WitchyBits · 28/09/2024 14:50

I've been on Mounjaro, lost 10kg in 7 weeks without even trying. MedExpress are great and I have a discount code if you would like it? Means you get your first jab for £113

Because I've been recovering from an operation and have check up on Monday where I'll hopefully have the all clear to exercise again.

I do eat well always but just not in a deficit.

ok

but what’s to stop you eating better from this evening?

you are framing this like it is a hateful project with a start and end date, rather than keeping it off permanently and doing it properly

UserNameOfShame · 28/09/2024 14:54

Ah well you won't be eligible for mounjaro then.

Try intermittent fasting, 1 meal per day, fast 800. I think you'd need a VLCD to shift that much that fast if you are already a healthy BMI

greenleaveseverywhere · 28/09/2024 14:55

@chestnutroast I just think I respond well to a start date and goal date. Of course I want the changes to be permanent but I thrive with goals in all aspects of life. So going to try this approach I think

according to the thread you started last night that i posted on!

Well done. Wow. How?

I don't eat meat much, eat a lot of Thai curries and tomato based Indian curries, both packed with veg, with as much boiled Jasmine rice as I want. Otherwise roast veg, salmon, or fishcakes. A slice of sourdough for breakfast, homemade soup or sushi for lunch. And no eating between meals. If I'm desperate a small banana or plum. And I'm trying to move more. I also weigh myself every morning which works for me.

User364837 · 28/09/2024 14:56

Your BMI is already in the healthy range, I think losing that much in that space of time would require very severe restriction and it doesn’t sound like a good idea. If I were you I wouldn’t mess with your metabolism.

I can easily lose 1-2kg a week on a very strict diet (tonnes of vegetables at each meal, one piece of fruit at each meal, and some lean protein in the form of beans, tofu or lean meat. No snacking. Plus 3x pw of 20 min cardio and as much walking as possible
no wine chocolate bread sweets fried/fatty

LissaGa · 28/09/2024 14:59

You'll probably lose 10kg within a week or two once your baby is born, especially if you're breastfeeding.

spackleplumb · 28/09/2024 14:59

I'm losing a steady 1-2lbs a week and have been for nearly a year. Started 16st 5lbs, now 11st 3lbs. Switched bread for crackers, changed to diary alternatives where possible, no pasta or pizza, no chocolate or crisps, no alcohol. Approximately 1100-1200 calories a day and that's it. Kept track with My Fitness Pal and been very honest in my portions by measuring/weighing them out. So yes its definitely doable. 10kg is 22lbs or thereabouts. Just under 13 weeks til Christmas, so you can conceivably lose 13-26lbs in that time (depending if you lose 1 or 2lbs a week). Good luck!
