How quickly could I lose 10kg? And how??

greenleaveseverywhere · 28/09/2024 14:43

Thinking of starting October 1st. I'd love to have lost 10kg by the time we go away for our Xmas holiday mid December which gives me 10 weeks.

Is that possible/ healthy?

Tell me your tips.

Even if the op is not genuine it's still an old chestnut

very proud of yourself for the “chestnut” reference aren’t you? So much so that you post it… twice! 😆

tobee · 28/09/2024 15:25

Not really @chestnutroast . Before you looked further into the op you posted what unhelpful people endlessly say about weight loss. Your username is entirely irrelevant. Have you never heard of the expression before?

Leopardprintlover101 · 28/09/2024 15:30

Maybe try to up your activity - not just gym/classes which are usually around an hour, but your general movement throughout the day like going for walks, cleaning, wandering round the shops etc. Get extra steps in where you can!

Otherwise just eat sensibly - have proper meals with protein and think about eating better rather than eating less.

Reduce alcohol as well if you’re very committed, or if you fancy a glass of wine here and there, try to avoid the bowl of crisps!

suggesting that someone doesn’t hold off dieting but rather start that very day eating better…. is hardly nasty

i’m wondering what your helpful advice is on this thread…..

tobee · 28/09/2024 15:40

Where did I say you were nasty @chestnutroast ? Overreaction much.

My helpful comments? Well, if what you've said about op is correct I'm holding fire tbh

so all good 👍

I think this poster is pregnant - but also might have an eating disorder. Severely restricting calories during pregnancy according to other posts.

Also, did you end up leaving your husband? Or is that who you’re going away with?

Funnywonder · 28/09/2024 15:57

I opened this thread because I would like to lose a similar amount of weight and now all I want to know is whether the OP is pregnant😆😆

User364837 · 28/09/2024 16:00

This is clearly just attention seeking

it’s actually quite disturbing

all over the weight loss threads

Summerhillsquare · 28/09/2024 16:03

I do think HQ should be firmer on this extreme weight loss posts, it's getting close to promoting eating disorders.

I lost 16kg in 12 weeks by gym 3 x a week, cardio and weights. Cut out all processed food and any alcohol. 1200 Cals a day. Have maintained for nearly two years.

tobee · 28/09/2024 16:10

🙄 @chestnutroast

LilBatFaceGal · 28/09/2024 16:12

You need to see a doctor about your eating disorder tbh

Yes and it certainly doesn’t help when you have the weight loss jab people jumping on and saying here ,here, use my discount code!

MakingPlans2025 · 28/09/2024 16:27

Work out your TDEE. Eat in a calorie deficit.

twistnslide · 28/09/2024 16:33

If you are 100kg then possibly. If you are 60kg then no chance.

Shanm · 28/09/2024 16:36

More than 1lb a week after first 2 weeks is possible BUT it is not sustainable. That is, longer term, maybe 3 months later 6 months, at most a year and the weight will return. Check the research which is solid on this.
So if you want temp loss for an event perhaps OK to go fast and regain. Bear in mind doing this more than once every few years seriously undermines health.
But if you want real, reliable reduction stay with 1lb/ halfK a week which means you can stick it. Be sure to take multivitamins as weight reduction weakens immune system. I recommend 1,000 echinacea a day and as much rest as is possible (reduction strains the system).

Honestly until the op confirms whether or not she’s pregnant and about to give birth then any replies are utterly pointless.

In another post, on the 24th September, she did say she was due any day...

OP, please don't be trying to lose weight so quickly after giving birth, especially if you are breast feeding. At the height and weight you have said you are, you are already on the slim side of healthy. Are you 69kgs right now, at 9 months pregnant or was that pre-pregnancy? If you are 69kgs right now then you will be almost down to the weight you want to be a week or two after you have had your baby, without doing anything. Please be kind to yourself and don't even think about your weight, just concentrate on eating healthily and caring for yourself and your beautiful new baby.

well if she comes on and says she is not

how does that explain yesterdays thread and indeed the dozen of posts referring to being heavily pregnant?

UserNameOfShame · 28/09/2024 17:39

I have a feeling the op has just given birth and is already thinking about losing the baby weight. She said earlier on she was waiting to have the all clear to exercise. I really hope her midwife clocks on and intervenes.
Absolutely crackers to be thinking about this so soon after having a baby.

I’m not disbelieving you , I just was interested in the op would return to this thread or not, as obviously she has a huge problem if so,which is incredibly sad.
