Refocus!

Mid forties, huge issues with food all my life. Piled on loads of weight when I turned 40. I’ve been up and down the same two stones the last couple of years, and am at present at the very top end…feel so frumpy and definitely lost confidence. Am avoiding mirrors!
Overall I’d love to lose 4 stone, but as the title says I want to completely refocus so am going to concentrate on a pound off at a time.
I have to accept that I have appalling self control around any form of snacking, and I think that if I concentrate on a lot less of that and choose/eat my meals mindfully I should see an improvement.
I know I need to go right now and weigh myself, I’ve been avoiding that too!!

Anyone else want some support and accountability?

@CoffeeChocolateWine viruses can really knock you for six for a long time! Make sure you start back up gently.

13st 1lb (183lbs) 3lbs lost this week, 21 lbs lost in 6 weeks.

Pleased and surprised with that as period started over night. OMAD working great, I get to enjoy my food and eat with the family…if I do want something at other times I have salad or stir fry so it doesn’t feel like I’m not ‘allowed’ to eat. Tonight we’ve Shepard’s Pie with broccoli, green beans and broad beans.

Yoga going well, only managed an hour each of the last few days but yesterday I got back to three hours and loved it. Am starting strength training with kettlebells to improve my yoga and overall health. Oh, and mediate each night and have started giving myself daily hand/foot massages.

Quietly proud of how my refocus is going.

12st 12lbs (180lbs) 3lbs lost this week, 24lbs lost in total.

Very pleased with that as period still here and feel very sluggish/heavy. Seeing 12 stones on scales rather than 14 stones is a great motivator - I can do this!!

Today is dog walk and a couple of hours of yoga, swim and sauna.

@Poisonwood well done 👏

I'm struggling a bit, I am just not being very disciplined and we have had a few busy weekends. I think I'll have maintained, but certainly not lost. I will weigh in tomorrow.

In the theme of the thread though, I do need to re (re-re-re) focus! I find I am more in control when I eat less dairy and grain/gluten even though I'm not intolerant to either, and that's an easy win for me because it makes me feel so much better.
Ditto listening to my hypnosis recording, that really helps curb my binges and it's nice relaxing self care so I will make time today for that. I have 2 more days annual leave returning to work on weds, so I will try to listen Monday and Tuesday as well.

But really what I need to do more than anything is plan my food and then stick to my plan. My plans are usually ok but then i just randomly eat extra stuff, or don't weigh things properly and realistically I have no idea how much I'm eating every day. So I think if I make a good plan and actually stick to it 100% it will be both enlightening and effective.

Poisonwood · 10/11/2024 09:05

@thenewaveragebear1983 your plans re your hypnosis and dairy/gluten sound really achievable, and will help give you the energy to plan better as well. I’ve just realised I’ve only bought one small loaf of bread in the last month, and that was for the children. If I eat bread/cheese I crave more and more.

@Poisonwood well done 👏

I've had a much better couple of days, I think standing on the scales on Sunday and seeing a number I have not seen for a while and have worked very hard to get rid of, had finally given me a bit of a kick up the backside and the last few days I've really tried hard. I've stuck to my calories every day and have drink loads of water to flush out a bit of water retention and today I was down 4lbs! Still a fairly big number and 10lbs heavier than my lightest just behind I went away in the summer. But still, a big chunk of water gone and good for my motivation.

Poisonwood · 13/11/2024 17:45

@thenewaveragebear1983 that’s great!

I need to drink more, had a blood test today and it was aunt easy getting vein.

Well done @Poisonwood , you're doing well.

I have been gradually chipping away, and since 11th November I have lost 6lbs. I have, boring as it sounds, just been actually sticking to my calories - who knew?!!?! ANC being a bit tough and saying ok, you can have that delicious cookie but that's basically a meal so then you can't have lunch. Which means I've been eating not the healthiest choices some days, but it's getting me through and not gaining, and actually losing a bit. I'm enjoying a bit of time restricting eating as well, not fasting as such, but just delaying my breakfast and then eating 2 big meals for my calories. Means I can have things I wouldn't usually have, such as lasagne, or have a nice pudding. It's working ok, it's not sustainable for me really, but in the short term to see me through to Christmas it's ok,

We're at a wedding tomorrow but I'm driving so no alcohol, but obviously food off plan,

Poisonwood · 25/11/2024 20:23

@thenewaveragebear1983 thank you, you’re doing great too!! I think anything that chips away at it is good, and making those swap decisions - I really enjoy a nice bakery treat once a week but on that day I don’t also eat big meals! It’s hard to stop with the guilt that the diet industry/society/family expectations has maybe piled on us…but keeping on keeping on is good.

Today I cooked a roast and really enjoyed my version - the beef, some gravy and lots of vegetables.

12st 4, 2lb loss, 32 lbs lost in total.

Pleased as TOTM. Had a quieter week yoga wise so will try to up it a little this week. Really need to concentrate on my water, I’ll use a calculator to see how much I should be having at my weight.

12st 1, 3lb loss, 35lb loss in total

Exhausting week spent mostly in the hospital with DD, luckily she is recovering well now. Pleased with loss but constipated, tired, low mood. Will try and prioritise some self-care this week.

Yesterday’s food was very nice - lunch out, I had a great minestrone soup and an empire biscuit, then dinner was stuffed mushroom with roasted carrots and broccoli and a couple of baby potatoes.

11st 12, 3lb loss, 38 lbs in total.
17lbs to go to be a healthy weight bmi

V pleased, lovely to be in to the 11s. Did a full sort out of my clothes, I’m trying to become more minimalist and a lot just didn’t fit and hadn’t been bought with happiness but more to hide me…I’m not doing that anymore.

Yesterday I had a large mixed bean stir fry, today I’m having fishcake with roast sweet potatoes and veg

11st 9, 3lb lost, 41lbs lost in total.

Surprised as start of totm. Was so wanting to binge-comfort-eat last night but I had an options hot chocolate and went to bed early. It was probably the hardest moment I’ve had since the start.

Plans for this week - yoga, dog walks, small tasty nutrient dense meals and only sweet things in moderation if I feel in control.

OP posts:
Poisonwood · 29/12/2024 09:10

11st 6, 3lbs lost, 44lbs lost in total.

Very pleased with that! Still totm, and have had a couple of nice meals. Feel I’m definitely getting the hang of moderation coupled with exercise.
Plans for this week: WATER!! New skincare regime. Upping steps. Continue all my yoga.
I’d love to be a healthy bmi by the end of February.

Poisonwood · 05/01/2025 07:32

11st 3.8lbs, 2.2lbs lost. 46.2lbs lost in total.

8lbs to go to be a healthy bmi. This week has felt long tbh, and I’ve been pretty tired/run down. Will increase my protein and water this next week and see if that helps me feel better. I just bought a walking pad so I can get my steps in even in bad weather, that should be here Monday. Yoga every day and a swim/sauna mid week.

OP posts:
Poisonwood · 09/01/2025 05:41

Horrible week, had to have my dog PTS. Walking pad hasn’t arrived yet, but I’m doing lots of yoga to keep busy. Have bought a set of bathroom smart scales so will see body fat percentage when I weigh at weekend. Don’t feel like eating tbh.

OP posts:
Poisonwood · 12/01/2025 22:22

2.7lbs down. New scales checked after weighing with old, they show 11 stone today and 35% body fat. Am using these figures.

Walked 3 miles today, 2 outside and 1 inside whilst I watched the telly. Glad I bought walking pad. Also an hour of yoga.
Would like to have increased steps all the next week.
