Last minute holiday booked... I'm fat

JustPickleRick · 13/07/2024 21:22

Decided to book a last minute holiday. I was so happy but now I'm panicking because I'm overweight. I'm short so it shows really bad.
I'm ashamed to say I've not eaten much at all today apart from fruit. I want to try and keep it going until the holiday. I know it's not healthy but it's just a month.... doubt I'll even manage it 2bh. It was hell before trying not to inhale the spag bol I'd made my partner and son for dinner 😩
I know if I can keep this up, I'll feel much better on the holiday. I know I won't be skinny but I'll have atleast lost something. Carbs make me massively bloated so going without will do me some good.
I will absolutely eat my weight in food once I'm on holiday 😅 then when I'm back I'll tackle this properly...
How much weight can I lose in a month?

OP posts:
Doggymummar · 13/07/2024 21:23

Probably about 4-7lb

Droolylabradors · 13/07/2024 21:32

I lose 2lb a week usuallu. Week one is the worst. By the end of week two you get used to it.

I'm on a similar crash diet now. I eat a load of Greek yoghurt, fruit, veg, some chicken, tuna, some dark chocolate, and milk in coffee.

That said, I don't usually eat dinner as such so I dont miss out eating a big meal each day.

Good luck, it is worth it and you will feel much better for doing it.

JustPickleRick · 13/07/2024 21:44

Thank you both for not jumping on me.
I know it's not ideal but like you say, I will feel better!
I think I will find it easier once the cravings go. I had the sweats today! 😅
I will make sure I grab some chicken and other meat, it's more the bread and pasta that I really want to avoid.
I'm a chocolate lover so this will be hard 🙃 I'll let the thought of the all-inclusive buffet carry me through.
A few pounds off would be nice, 7 would be fab. I haven't actually weighed myself, I'll be able to tell if I've lost from if I can fit into my clothes from other holidays!

This is a wind up right?? You'll never loose weight with this all or nothing attitude. Starve yourself for a month then binge like a pig on holiday? You'd still feel gross and probably gain it all back in a day. Just start eating high protein, Whole Foods. Veg and fruit. Cut out white bread and sugar. Have a few treats on holiday, of course. But you're a lady not some sort of greedy animal, stuffing your face in front of everyone

Droolylabradors · 15/07/2024 14:37

@JustPickleRick good luck. It always works for me, mine is the same 7lb that goes on between November and April and then gets lost for wearing sundresses.

You can still eat chocolate, I eat 6squares of 90% a day which is 374 cals. Then 200 for protein at each of breakfast lunch and late afternoon. Yes, it gets boring, but honestly it's so worth it 4 weeks down the line.

I am nearly at week three. I don't weigh myself until I've been doing it for a few weeks and I know what I SHOuLD weigh to fit into my nice summer clothes so I'll know if I'm nearly there.

Droolylabradors · 15/07/2024 14:38

Also, it's lovely waking up to that lovely empty stomach feeling and knowing that you can identify your hip bones again!!

😅 there's always one isn't there. Throwing words around like 'greedy animal' and 'pig', get a grip! It's a common expression to say you'll eat your weight in something, it doesn't actually mean I'm going to eat everything in sight and not stop 🙄

I'll grab some dark choccie when I next go to the shops. Will be nice to have a treat now and again! I'm on day 3 now and it's the first day I've had to cope with being in work and having to function. It's actually gone really well. Think the sugar in the fruit is helping 😅
I'll steer clear of the scales like yourself, the clothes will be the decider. I haven't seen hip bones for a long time since I have a csection tummy but a smaller tum in general would be amazing 🤩

ATribeCalledQuestion · 15/07/2024 17:48

I reckon if you stick to protein and fruit/veg you can lose quite a lot in a month! It won't stay off obviously but you'll feel better on hols.

Scrambled egg for breakfast, salad for lunch (with some protein like chick peas, beans, tuna, lean meats, tofu etc) then grilled chicken or fish for dinner with steamed veg. Boring as fuck but if you can stick to it 100% you'll lose weight. The protein will help keep you full and help energy levels.

Then enjoy your hols! Be a greedy pig if that's what you want to do 😁😁😁

Ooo I love scrambled eggs. I'm thinking an omelette would be nice too. Some good ideas in there to keep me going, thank you 🤗 I am definitely going to enjoy my holiday and I'll feel so much better knowing I did 'something' beforehand 😅

1 month - do Fast 800 and you should lose about a stone if you are very strict.

Fast for 16 hours eg eat between 1 and 8pm.
Stick to 2 meals
Low carb

Thank you, I'm normally a breakfast person so this would be interesting for me to try. I need to go shopping for bits tomorrow so i'll look more into fast 800 before I go!

4 days in and managing well! Just want the next few weeks to fly. There's cake everywhere at work 😩

OP posts:
Droolylabradors · 16/07/2024 20:26

I find it helps to tell myself how disgusting pre made cake is. I will always make an exception for home made cake, but processed cake is grim and I don't eat it even when I'm on a diet. It has a greasy after taste.

And I promise, I'm three weeks into it on Thursday and I feel a million times better and you will too if you stick at it.

Droolylabradors · 16/07/2024 20:26

*even when I'm NOT on a diet

WonderingWanda · 16/07/2024 20:30

Good luck with your weight loss, I think high protien, low to no carb is the best strategy...and gallons of water.

Don't best yourself up. Maybe splash out on a couple of lovely coverups and new swimsuits or flattering high waisted bikinis too. It's amazing how much nicer you can feel about yourself in something new and flattering. The Pour Moi stuff is quite structured and flattering. Also Primark has lots of lovely floaty cover ups.

oObyeOo · 16/07/2024 21:57

What’s the point of losing it when you’re just going to gain it all back on the 1st couple days of your hols.

You’ll just feel fat and horrible on the rest ot the hols and all that effort will be for nothing

😅 I'll tell myself that next time I see cake!
I'm determined to stick with it, 4 days has gone quickly.
Just going to ignore the negative comments on here. It's as if I'm going to turn into a wild dog as soon as I see food on holiday 😂 if it's anything like when I've lost weight before, my stomach has shrunk too and I don't actually eat a lot anyway!
I know I'll feel better mentally for doing it. I'm not expecting miracles!

I like this idea! I'm not evening going to bother trying on my swim stuff at the moment as I'll just be critical of myself. A new bikini will be a nice incentive :)

I've lost 8lb in 3 weeks. 2-3 hour eating window around 4-7pm. I know it's not sustainable but I can get into my jeans! Will carefully increase my intake when I reach my target weight and up my exercise.

I think that depends on your age.. I'm in my 50's and that wouldn't lose me a stone

I’m not being negative. You literally said that you would… ‘I will absolutely eat my weight in food once I'm on holiday 😅’… I just don’t see the point of doing that when you’re working hard now.

Okay, I'll give you that. It's just a figure of speech though! I can already anticipate what will happen if I eat lots of holiday, I'm not going to gorge on everything though.
