Last minute holiday booked... I'm fat

JustPickleRick · 13/07/2024 21:22

Decided to book a last minute holiday. I was so happy but now I'm panicking because I'm overweight. I'm short so it shows really bad.
I'm ashamed to say I've not eaten much at all today apart from fruit. I want to try and keep it going until the holiday. I know it's not healthy but it's just a month.... doubt I'll even manage it 2bh. It was hell before trying not to inhale the spag bol I'd made my partner and son for dinner 😩
I know if I can keep this up, I'll feel much better on the holiday. I know I won't be skinny but I'll have atleast lost something. Carbs make me massively bloated so going without will do me some good.
I will absolutely eat my weight in food once I'm on holiday 😅 then when I'm back I'll tackle this properly...
How much weight can I lose in a month?

Chill out! Decide to love your body regardless of what weight you are at. I can assure you, nobody cares what you look like except you.

People come in all shapes and sizes.

Hi OP, I'm still with you and think you are going great!!! Keep it up.

It's a short term diet. Perhaps OP doesn't need or want to stick to it. I'm not planning on staying at 1200 cals past the end of this week. I've killed half a stone which is what I needed to get back to my normal figure/clothes.

I'm a long term expert in short sharp diets which I find much easier than doing the same thing over 6-8 weeks. I never go over a certain weight.

I often see things on here where women have put on 'x' stone 'without noticing'. How don't they notice? Surely you take short sharp action the moment your waistband gets too tight? I'm dammed if I'm buying clothes in a different size.

My weight goes on across a year due to excessive nuts, avocado, edemame beans (millions of calories in those!) extra oats that I don't count, twice as much chicken as I need to eat etc. General greed, I exercise a lot and have a massive appetite. I don't eat takeaways as we live in the country and they don't exist here, I don't eat processed food as its grim. I don't eat pasta or rice or potato as a rule. But I love sourdough from the local bakery.

So me and the OP are taking action before it's too late and things get worse for our bodies. This is a good thing!

And to anyone else doing the same thing right now, good luck and stay consistent and track everything!

Thank you 🤗
I've just tried on my holiday clothes from last year and they fit with room! I was worried I wasn't going to get back into them 😁 there's also things that didnt fit me last year which now fit 🥳 if that's not motivation to keep going, I don't know what it!

We're just back from Greece, where I just kept going the best I could with my healthy eating and actually lost a couple of pounds more - it's so much easier when the fruit and salads are so tasty. Eat salads and fish, delicious!

Normally I eat full fat greek yog, fruit, nuts and flax seeds in the day and then a full and healthy dinner in the evening. Lots of water.

It's slow going but I have lost 11 lbs in 7 weeks.

Good luck.

Wow, that's a brilliant result after 7 weeks! I wish i'd had that long 😅 I'll definitely snack on the fruits more whilst I'm away. Amazing that you managed to lose whilst away, I can't guarantee I'll be the same as I'm thinking about the wraps already 😂 it will all be down to portion control for me. Before, I would fill my plate but I won't be doing that now, I don't want to do that now which is a nice change.
I'm getting bored of the same foods now 😴

@JustPickleRick i carried on losing weight on a holiday many years ago when I had a lot to lose (never put that much on again except pregnancy).

We were in portugal, so ate fruit for breakfast, sardines and veg for lunch and the same for dinner ( I love fish) and a glass of wine with each meal.

By wraps do you mean bread wraps? Look at the ingredients, that will put you off forever!!

caringcarer · 22/07/2024 13:22

You could absolutely lose 12 lbs in a month. Cut back carbs, full up on vegetables and salad. When I want to lose a few lbs quickly I just go to the Strawberry Slimfast for 2 meals replacements and have one low carb meal. You could certainly do that for a week for a quick start. Also move more. Go for a walk each evening.

I did slimfast a few years back and lost a good stone and a half! It's definitely effective. I might grab a few chocolate shakes as I can't eat another mouthful of chicken! 😂

I've just had some hot chicken from the asda deli counter which was heavenly! 😅 it's just dry chicken I can't stomach anymore I should probably say.

Droolylabradors · 22/07/2024 19:32

Sounds lovely op. I eat a lot of dry fried courgette & mushroom with some protein added in, halved cherry Tom's, some red onion and then once cooked, some spy sauce. Super fibre content, low cal, v filling as you eat a lot and it's hot and fast. You could sub your chicken with tuna or other tinned fish.

JustPickleRick · 25/07/2024 06:50

Just checking in, I'm still going! Had some chocolate on Tuesday and some other little snacky bits as it was the last day in school and I bought my class some treats. Don't feel bad about it though. I have a mountain of chocolate in my drawer from the kids which i'm somehow managing to ignore 🤣
I've weighed myself today and I'm down 6lbs from the weight i was in Feb on nutracheck so probably lost more than that which I'm happy about 🤩 18 days to go!

Amazing work op!

I've lost 8lbs in 4 weeks which is exactly what was supposed to happen and always does when I stick to around 1200 cals (I don't count exercise and I stopped counting my milk after a couple of weeks).

I'm going to start again in a few weeks as I am still a few lbs over my normal and ideal weight.

I'll keep an eye on you, do keep updating!

8lbs is great, well done! It sounds like this approach really works well for you. I'll weigh myself again next week, I don't want to rely too much on the scales, I can already feel a difference in my leggings and jeans :)

Well tomorrow's the day of the holiday 🥳 I'm happy with the results. I wasn't as strict once I got back from my other trip, I'm still less than I was though so feeling happy that I did it 🤩

hollyblueivy · 11/08/2024 08:29

How much did you lose from the original post op? I think most people thought around 4-6lb possible in a month. What were the main changes you made over that time?

I might try a month strict diet end sep/beginning oct.

I've weighed myself this morning. I was 6lbs down on my last update, I've had 11 days back home of not being as strict but still low carbs and I've lost a further 4lbs. If I'd been as strict as the first part of my diet before I went away I imagine I'd have lost more! It was helpful knowing when I had an end date for the strictness 😅

But if op can lose weight without injections why would she do injections? If you lose 2lb a week on injections and 2lb a week on a calorie controlled diet, why pay for injections?
